But I was also confused by our response. I logged on in the middle of that and we only had 2-3 of us on TS that were responding to the ninja. The rest were pugs with tunnel vision on that tower I guess. Calls for defense were ignored. And we were slow to get eyes on where and how many there were.

We may have had more ppl on the map but we had very few ppl paying attention and trying to defend. It shouldn’t happen but it does.

I didn’t notice the emotes….didn’t come from those that were on TS I think….but that happens too. You can’t apply the attitude from some to a whole server. I certainly didn’t feel “superior” at that moment. But was relieved we finally responded enough to stop the ninja at Garrison at least. =/

Just to shed some more light on the situation that day. I was at garrison when the attacks came. The folks that were attacking the SW tower were following a commander tag I’m not familiar with. I don’t know if this was a new commander, or just one that doesn’t show as often during the times that I normally get to play, but I’m going to assume “new.” I was the engineer that liked to drop the mortar and use grenades from the wall, by the way.

Anyway, shortly after the garrison was saved, bay was under heavy attack. That particular commander de-tagged. I didn’t see any comment about leaving the game, taking tag off to take a break, or turn over to anyone else. I saw no communication in that regard. I also noticed that the person didn’t leave the map… so I’m very very confused as to why they would take off their tag during a time when we needed leadership most (get organized to defend a valuable capture point.) This is why I think “new” as mentioned before. There wasn’t a lot of organization or commanding going on that day while I was on

You clearly didn’t read team chat at all, there was a full conversation on it and mumble. The commander explained what happened, why it happened, why they were leaving, and even tried to rally someone else to take over. As I said, the entire point of being on SBI BL was because I was being petty about their actions on Mag BL. It was not a serious attempt and there wasn’t a bit of organization and very little communication. But if you were in mumble you would have heard the commander’s hesitation to go for garrison as it was fully upgraded and would require “effort.”

You’re so bad at this… I said that because it relates to how they’re true Maguumians. Losing all of their kitten but still being smug little pricks in the end. Give it a rest dude, you’re bad at trolling and no one on your server agrees with you.

Nobody has denied that rankings is population, the overall outcome is determined by population and that’s why maguuma is winning. Killjoy was never talking about the whole matchup, merely a snippet where she and four others took the east side of SBI bl without resistance whilst SBI had 10-15 players punching at SW tower, she is merely confused as to why the SBI players concerned chose SW tower over the east side of the bl is all. As a side note I think you also misunderstood the /laugh point, from what I read it’s more the confusion that the SBI defenders when eventually reacting on inner garrison /laugh’d at the maguuman invaders, an act of superiority over them. But the defenders had just lost their whole east side to those 5 who they /laugh’d at, showing a complete lack of superiority. I take the original post as a little bit of a lesson to check for ninja with a chest thumping agenda, but you know all about ninjas though right? (loved those videos friendopal)

Ah, so that’s what happened. Thanks for the clarifying, seems like that guy is just in a world of his own after all. Lots of us were just wondering why back cap when you can stop us? But I can completely understand that pugs could have been big part of it.

Yeah, the emotes are likely to come from pugs, I didn’t really care about it, I honestly just heard a Maguumian-like chuckle in their voices.

That commander from SBI that I wrote the poem for is one of the shining stars of the server. Someone please tell him I love him and his moxy.

Why are you killing him? If you can fend off the breakout then you’ve won. Siegerazer will stay at the gate and the team no longer gets a breakout. The only problem I’ve had with these events is getting there in time and not having defensive siege already placed.

No swords at all is a silly idea. Allowing teams to ninja things simply because no one is there would only cause headches and crying for the defending team. It would also encourage camping in towers in fear that it might be flipped and no one wants to do that.

Have you tried only ninja’ing keeps/towers when there is a distraction on the map? Like a commander leading a large group or a big fight over something else?

No, a mesmer being able to fear that many times doesn’t sound likely. The only thing I can chalk it up to is that were was another class somewhere, but it has nothing to do with the camp.

If that’s what you’re taking away then you’re choosing over and over to ignore the fact that you are so demoralized, a small group of people are able to just walk all over you. More to the fact, you’re so defensive of it, all you see it as is bragging. This is something that is fairly common coming from the losing side.

Oh no, people emoted at me! I am so mad! OMG! I never mentioned how “awesome” I was, nor did I hint that it takes even a remote amount of skill to PvD. I posted about it because the taking of half a borderland should never happen when there are 15+ defenders on the map edit: and it only took five people and one piece of seige to take each target. And to have those defenders emote despite the big picture, is true Maguuman behavior, and I honestly like that.

Man, the ONE thing you should be doing is picking your battles and having fun and you refuse to do that because “it would amount to nothing”? This was no zerg battle, though at the gate of Garrison, we picked up more people. I can understand you’re not as populated or have as the same coverage/prime time as us but five people capped the entire eastern side of the map while double our numbers of SBI were at SW tower.

You must not understand what i’m saying, It doesn’t matter if they came and defeated you and kept you from taking the eastern side.

You’re going to win this match up because you have more people covering other maps at more times this us, Just like when SBI was doing it in the previous Tier.

It wasn’t anytime with us being better managed, or being amazing at the game, We simply had more people.

Its the same for every tier, The number 1 server always has more people.

It’s not about overall score or who is winning. Part of the fun in these terrible match ups is to find the little fights and gain small victories. You have the numbers, it just sounds like you’re already demoralized for some reason.

And it did matter if you stopped us, because it wasn’t a serious push and we all would have gone elsewhere. Usually when five people are taking something, it’s a ninja team, and those are less likely to respond with a zerg unless it’s Garrison. And as you can see, that didn’t even happen. One wipe and we were off the BL. This situation had nothing to do with our number advantage and you’re trying to make it seem that way.

I like SBI. They’re at 90 PPT and lost their entire BL except for Garrison and they find the energy to /laugh. Good to know that they’ll let everything fall to five people and a superior ram but still act smug. You guys are true Maguumans, you should join us.

What time is it? 9am EST? I’m gonna take a guess that Maguuma has the overall lead with CD in second and SBI not trailing too far behind. CD has the lead in PPT and Maguuma is last. 50s says I’m right.

I’m not sure how the server has a decent amount of roamers yet hasn’t developed any concept of respect, but it can be very frustrating to deal with.

Have you tried posting a new thread about it? Maybe you could get some insight to other servers or see what would be the best new home for you.

We’ve always known this about CD. Before they crumbled they had a much larger amount of players that would emote for any reason at all. I ran into a group of five CD that killed me then laughed. Then I took them on 1v2 (this is an accomplishment for me as I have no kittening idea how to fight properly with this build), won, and proceeded to /laugh.

Pretty much par for the course with CD for many groups. Probably Maguuma too but I dunno. I do have to tell people to stop /laughing at invaders all the time :T

Yeah… that wasn’t meant in a good way. I’ve seen lots of questionably terrible ideas for siege placement. I say questionably because I’m not actually sure they’re bad just because we took care of them quickly. I could be biased as all the SBI attempts at keeps/towers I have been at have failed. It’s almost looks like given different circumstances, they would have worked. But alas, the enemy is mute on the battlefield, and as usual, I am just left in wonder.

SBI have actually been fun to fight in open field. You can find groups from three to twenty running around. And while I’ve yet to make a rival of anyone, they have been enjoyable fights. I’m currently running a new build and I’m terrible at it (excuses, ikr?) so can’t properly measure SBI’s abilities.

Well look at that! It’s almost as if I (didn’t) read what you posted!

So your main complaint is “there’s a ledge/wall there, it was supposed to protect me!”
Correct me if I’m wrong (don’t) but you’re complaining about a group of mesmers coordinating to pull people up and over ledges and walls. Something that is usually not accomplished by one person. And ledges, which guarantee you no protection other than your own assumption that it does because it’s there, I mean, why wouldn’t it?! If that is correct, then yes, you are complaining about hit detection and collision boxes as well as organized play. As far as I am aware, temporal curtain is supposed to be able it pull up and over if it is placed and coordinated precisely with more than one person. If it is not, the victim just ends up slamming into walls or even moving back in place.

Guilds Wars 2 presented itself as a casual game and is only six months old. While that shouldn’t excuse it from a lot of issues, the fact that you’re trying to take something that is not game-breaking so seriously should be your hint that this game is not polished or even laughably close to perfect. Maybe you should try other things like spvp or pve? WvW as A LOT to work on, but there are a lot more things to worry about than mesmer pulls and false protection from ledges/walls. Then again, I’m not a serious gamer so my interest may lie elsewhere and I just submit bug reports and screenshots when I see these things.

And since this is an effort post we’re going to go the route of giving you suggestions to cope or until you decide to quit the game because of a group of mesmers.

1. Don’t stand on walls. Don’t depend on LOS heavily. If you must, prepare to be pulled and plan an escape route (this means saving your escapes and skills, especially stealth and/or stability). You can even go the extra mile and trait for fall damage.
2. If you are on siege, have an ally protect you (stability, regen, protection, etc). No friends? Get off siege temporarily to grant yourself boons.
3. Place siege (catas and carts) behind gates to avoid damage and pulls
4. Report false gods. Many walls, ledges, and spots that were serious offenders to gameplay have been patched and fixed.
5. Keep a mental note of false god, avoid relying on them. Since this isn’t something I have experienced numerously or have heard many people, I’m going to assume it’s few and far between. As such, keeping a mental note shouldn’t be difficult.
6. Dodge and strafe
7. Reroll a mesmer, party with other mesmers, pull people through the same walls you claim you’re being pulled though /revenge.

If you’re not able to make compromises and work around things even if you consider them easily fixed issues then perhaps you should take your “serious gaming” elsewhere and give GW2 more time to work out its kinks (if it ever does). I’m not trying to sound insulting, but this honestly seems like the best route since you consider it game breaking.

TLDR: One mesmer is not the issue, it’s when a bunch of mesmers do it. Wise up, learn to work/play around it, and report buggy walls.

So tell me, what challenges does T8 offer that no other tier does, that if I were to excel in the tier, I would be considered good by your standards?

Despite a lot of my fellow Maguumans not having a blast this week I had a lot of fun with TC in-game, as did a lot of DER|P. The forums are usually the worst of the worst/best and I don’t allow the warriors to effect any opinion I have of any server, you guys should try that.

I’ve definitely seen them do it on Maguuma borderlands (or at least heard Xushin’s sexy voice talking about it). It’s pretty absurd to claim that people don’t know about it at this tier.

It’s not absurd, we don’t know the simplest tactics like stacking might. We’ve just never done that in our entire LIVES. We should spend more time in the game, you know, because it’s not possible that the reason you are on the forums is because you can’t currently play the game.

DB have been a blast to play, and still get a lot of /bows and /waves from those of us stood on the vista of the north camp but Mag have been a sever of trash talking, group inviting excuse makers that seem to have a much higher views of themselves than their actual understanding of WvW would suggest.

I’d like to know this too. I didn’t attack anyone seriously. Had an accidental autoattack on one yak because a couple TC were trying to gank me and put me in combat. Moved after two attacks and continued running.

Lots of players on the forums seem to have a serious problem with grouping everyone under one small umbrella.
