Because we can’t be angry about both?
There was an interview where someone was asked “Are you reducing dungeon rewards in order to deincentivize that content?” And the answer was a refreshingly honest, “Yes.”
You’re part of a megaserver that groups all servers together in PvE, so it doesn’t really matter in PvE. I don’t know why your server seems empty.
You can edit the title directly underneath the title in the thread itself. It’s not part of editing your post.

He did speak for his own circumstances.
She also spoke of other people’s circumstances. If she had spoken only of how it was not expensive for her that would be one thing. Telling others to get a job is something else.
Personally I am willing to spend hundreds of dollars for a game that I feel is worth it. I spent in the neighborhood of a thousand dollars in the months following GW2’s launch.
I would consider HoT to be too expensive if priced at anything above $0. This is not because I am unwilling to spend money. It is purely because what has been announced as included in the price of the expansion is without worth to me.
I guess the last 3 years of free play
I paid for every minute of that, “free,” play. Until very recently so did everyone else.
Except that you really didn’t you paid 50-60$ for the base game. The no subscription fee is what allowed you to enjoy all that time for no extra cost. Every other major MMO on the market has a subscription fee. Had this been WOW, you’d have paid that for the base game, 15 dollars a month as well as 20-40 dollars for each new expansion. Add up 10-15$ a month for this game over 3 years n get back to me. Even at 10$ the cost is far more.
Actually, if this game had a subscription, I never would’ve paid the $40 for the base game, or the $15 for my second account. I never would’ve spent money in the gem store.
This argument that content updates are somehow special and should be treated as extra value is the worst kind of straw man argument. The base game was sold with the expectation (based on actual statements from the company) that it would be regularly updated in order to, you know, keep the players playing. ANET didn’t do us some random charity with their updates- it was part of a business plan.
Just stop acting like the updates to an MMO should be factored into the cost of an expansion. The way I see it? It’s the cost of keeping players interested and engaged.
Acting? It’s called reality buddy, Anet is a business, businesses are in it for money. The fact that you personally wouldn’t have bought the base game and are using that as an example is a strawman in and of itself. Many still would have.
Do you even hear yourself? I literally just said that ANET is a business. What you’re ignoring is that the content updates and the decision not to have a subscription fee were both business decisions. The expansion should stand on its own merit, not on what ANET did to retain their players in the first place. Here, read this if you think you can handle some logic. It has a quote from ANET in it that supports my position, including the words: “You don’t just launch a box and be done with it.”

Wow. This is the first I’ve heard of this particular shenanigan. ANET, you’re making me pretty happy that I’m not bothering with the expansion. My only plans for friday will be touring the Labyrinth.

The shooting gallery and more activities were schedule to be released with HoT over 6 months ago. We’ll get to see if they’re in the game on HoT released date
.
Were they really? I don’t remember any notes about that.
at some point anet had someone from nexon come in and look at the gemshop stuff. that’s fact.
Isn’t the someone from nexon you refer to someone who worked at Anet before working at Nexon. Were they not also someone who left Nexon’s employ, taking a new job at Anet?
I worked at Tacobell as a kid. My current employment with another company entirely is an indication of Tacobell’s intention to take over the pharmaceutical industry right?
I’m pretty sure my local Taco Bell has some pharmaceuticals in it.
I love the underwater cave with the rich platinum node in Timberline Falls. I also love the whole area where Coddler’s Cove is, also in Timberline. The town on the water at the south end of Kessex Hills is gorgeous, as well, and the strawberry patch in Diessa.
Could you point at what you’re referencing? I’m not sure where you saw that they’re changing these consumables, specifically.
I was under the impression it can’t come back because some changes in the core game weren’t mirrored in SAB.
It also can’t come back because they haven’t been working on SAB at all, so there’s that. Confirmed in a few interviews; I’m not just spouting nonsense. I’d cite for you, but they leave news in the weirdest places and I just can’t be bothered.
Looks like I’ll be spending some time in GW2 this month! Ten days until Mad King is back! And this year I might be able to do the Clock Tower for the first time! Well done on the holiday measures, anet.
If this is the first time you’ve seen anyone comment that they dislike the new daily system, you haven’t been here very long. There have been lengthy discussions about funneling people into game modes they don’t like, double fractals, fewer choices for PvE players, maps being overrun and events not coded to scale to handle the number of people doing them, and just generally lacking in flavour. I’m sure I’m missing some things. Honestly, dailies and monthlies kept getting me out in the game world for a long time. Since this new system was implemented almost a year ago, I’ve done maybe 5-10 jumping puzzles, and I don’t think I’ve completed a full set of dailies since June or July. I know I’m just one person, but I know I’m not the only one whose passion for the game has been strangled to death.
So, instead of enjoying the freedom of going out into the world to do what you want, you enjoyed being told what to do.
What’s stopping you from doing those jumping puzzles now? Because there isn’t text in a game saying “go do 50 jps in a month”? Then set you’re own goal to do that. There is nothing in the game stopping you.
There’s no incentive, either.

Everything in this game deserves resources more than SAB. I hope it never comes back, good riddance.
Given that they sold an item pertaining to SAB for real money, your tone is incredibly disrespectful to the users who trusted in ANET enough to make that purchase, and who believed that the precedent had been set- Worlds 1 and 2 were 5 months apart. So please explain to me how anyone could have foreseen that world 3 (and, presumably, 4) would be in excess of two years (probably closer to never at this point) apart?
Your whole post is just spiteful and inflammatory.
I miss the living world.
The one meta reward that’s missing is the one from Boss Week- the dragon’s wings.
I don’t see how it’s a waste of resources to work on something they sold for real currency almost two years ago. I suppose everyone who pre-ordered the expansion would be fine with waiting two years on it, right? Since they have yet to announce a release date and all, I mean.
As far as I can assume, you are correct – the banks won’t be updated until our beta characters are wiped again (which we know won’t be happening for the next BWE).
So until a developer states otherwise, it looks like the beta banks won’t be updating for BWE2.
(Side note: I think you can edit the thread title by editing your main post? I could be wrong)
Ah! Thanks for the response! That’s . . . not so good for me. I will finally have my final accessory after saving up for a month. V.v’’
(I tried to edit. There’s no option. V_V I like kittens but not when it looks like I’m using them to be rude ;_;)
It’s not by editing the main post, it’s a link under the title itself.
Stop talking about the manifesto like it applies to this game. It doesn’t. It’s not a thing anymore.
I submitted a support request asking them to exchange my enchanted reward boosters with karma boosters (I have 921) … I encourage anyone else to do something similar.
Since ANET can’t be bothered to comment and let us know if this change was intended or is a bug, I would also recommend everyone having this issue submit a ticket, as I can only assume it’s a bug. Seeing as how it wasn’t in the patch notes, and all.
I guess I’m just going to have to open up a ticket if ANET isn’t going to comment on it here. I encourage anyone else having this issue to do the same.
You have to enable the title “Been There. Done That.” and you won’t be able to see the star yourself.
Is it intended that I cannot turn my boosters into karma boosters using the 10s/each dust anymore, or is this a bug?

Anet have the largest MMO development team I am aware of (short of WoW ofcourse). They also chucked out most free content in between expansion of any MMO I am aware off (including WoW) while developing their expansion. They also have a relatively long expansion development cycle. Will some players feel ripped off? sure! does that automatically mean they’re justified? No. You dont price things just to make people happy you also need to factor in your expenses and what return your investors are expecting. Keeping most of your players but loosing investor backing can be just as disastrous after all.
You need to find a balance because ultimately you cannot make everyone happy. If a player is willing to drop your game over $3.33 per year ($10 over 3 years) probably that player has much bigger issues with your game then price anyway. After all using wow as an example once again there are over 5m people who consistently don’t feel ripped off paying $15×24 + $40 = $400 per expansion cycle and that cylce is 33% shorter which makes it even worst. Does any of this mean that everyone should be happy with what Anet charges? No of course not, ultimately you’re right, it will be players who decide if the price is justified or not. That being said it is my opinion that this whole thing is being blown up way out of proportion.
Lol no. I know all the cool kids love to hate on WoW, but don’t straight-up lie. I don’t keep up with patch news anymore, but the seven years I played had tons of content patches in between the expansions. Just don’t. It’s an embarrassing claim to make.
It’s also disproportionate, given the amount of resources and the level of organization they had at that time, compared to what ANET has.
As much as I rail against the things I don’t like about ANET, I do appreciate that ANET has heart. I’m just not sure heart is enough to keep me playing, at this point. Either way, the price has been set.
Monthlies don’t even exist anymore, dude.
Generally, I prefer the new LA both in terms of aesthetics and functionality. However, the marine animal buildings are goofy and kind of out of place.
It’s a port city, originally built by pirates. How are those buildings out of place?
Also, there are exits to both Gendarran Fields and Lornar’s Pass, still.
Cheesiest pirates ever to make their buildings look like marine life.
I said it was originally built by pirates. If you don’t know anything about the city’s lore, you can’t say it’s not lore appropriate. It was constructed with the nautical theme in mind, to honor the city’s origins. And that squid building is the best building in the entire game.
I really wish all the merchants were marked on the map. That’s my sole complaint about the new LA. Otherwise, I love it.
I think what is not clear is that while it’s true that the points themselves are “limited,” you’ll still have enough to unlock every trait and skill in the game by the time you’re 80. Think of this as buying skills in the old setup. Skill points didn’t reset. They didn’t need to, because there were always going to be enough eventually. It’s the same with this new build system.
I think it would’ve been much better to allow characters below level 80 to choose their own builds, but it’s not game-breaking, as far as I can tell. You save up, you live with it for a bit, and then you have the points available. Easy peasy.
I’m extremely happy with the trait changes. They’re character progression now, not a gold or time sink. I think that not allowing us to double up on the tiers actually does make choosing the lines more meaningful. We now have access to more traits than we did previously in our old builds, and there are some balancing issues, but overall? The system is fantastic, in my opinion.
And, just in case, if you look at my posting history, you’ll see that I’m not one to shy away from voicing my dissent. I genuinely believe this is a superior system.
It’s an exit from the city now, not marked by a pink portal.

As someone who was vocally against the past year and several months of a wrecked trait system, I have to say that this is much improved. I agree that most of your issues seem to stem from downscaling, rather than traits.
I don’t care if it’s not illegal, it’s absolutely shameful to deny refunds to people who bought the infinite continue coin, at this point. When they sold it, it had been released twice in a 5 month period, so it had the expectation of happening at least once or even twice a year. In 3 months, it’ll be 2 years since the last time SAB closed.

Hey, awesome job relaying news to Reddit, and not your actual official forum, ANET.
can you (devs) just show all 5 trait lines, it’s so bad that i can only see 3 at a time.
You can see all five if you select the trait tab on the far left column- it’s just in that column.
We have sex changes but no Indians (not the ones you killed, the other ones outside US of Me).
There are varying degrees of skin colors, and India doesn’t exist in Tyria, so…

$50 is the price. I’d advise waiting for a sale sometime after launch.
Well done Anet for encouraging tolerance. Keep up the great work!
I don’t see how this encourages tolerance. People aren’t going to change their opinion because of a transgender NPC in a video game. I say this because … well, you wouldn’t like my opinion on the matter. Anyway, now that I’m aware of this NPC I can assure you that it hasn’t influenced my opinion at all. It’s not a real person. It’s an NPC.
So I am not sure what the point of this is. I can see from this thread that it makes certain people happy but why? What is so great about this? Nobody is going to feel any differently on the issue due to the existence of this NPC.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
With utmost focus on constructiveness, here’s my opinion on this: yes, the NPC is inconsequential, avoidable and irrelevant. But he is also unnecessary and inflammatory; one could say unnecessarily inflammatory.
Now, we all know that gaming community is rife with SJWs, Gamergate being the most stark proof thereof. And while respectful of ANET’s decision, I’d like to note my disappointment in their desire to jump onto the social justice bandwagon du jour.
I think you’re confused about what a social justice warrior is if you think Gamersgate proves they are a vast majority in the gaming world. And why is SJW being used as an insult, these days? Like it’s somehow wrong to want social justice? Like we should just continue to marginalize people? How is it a positive thing to support marginalization and exclusion?
I’m sorry for any issues. But if I read that right, if we don’t agree we can’t voice out thoughts on it, even if it was in polite, non offensive manner where no one person was called out. We should just shut up and keep to ourselves? our thoughts don’t matter if they are not for it? As for this NPC being easily avoidable is not the issue. The fact that it is in the game is troubling. Not everyone is going to agree with it should be here and will only breed conflict, weather or not it is easily avoidable is irrelevant.
No, you didn’t read it right. If someone wants to post something respectful and constructive, on either side of the discussion, then that’s great. If someone is going to wade in with “Ewww yuck, that’s disgusting! It’s being rubbed in my face! What’s the world coming to??!” (to use an extreme) then they are being politely asked to stay away.
Yeah, the exact wording of it is, “…please consider not posting in this thread unless you can do so with respectful and constructive comments.”
Well done Anet for encouraging tolerance. Keep up the great work!

For the same reason it’s important to have ethnically diverse casting in film or television. For the same reason it’s important to show representation to women. Small motions create the foundation of change.
What is the question here? Excelsior is one word.
I appreciate the unlock, Ms. Gray, and I think it’s very cool that ANET has introduced this character. Well done, and well spotted!
You can in the left-hand column when you’re viewing your traits.
Josh Davis’ interactions with the forum was fantastic last week, as well, if you look at the dev tracker.
I agree. I was just stunned when I read the level of insight revealed in the Jon Peters post, that I forgot to include that as well. TY for the correction.
Not a correction, by any means. Merely a positive addition. This thread is a welcome sight. I am frequently critical of ANET and especially how they communicate, but I’m very happy to give credit for the positive things.
Josh Davis’ interactions with the forum was fantastic last week, as well, if you look at the dev tracker.
Since they gave us enough hero points to unlock everything, I don’t understand what the upset is.
The only upset is players below level 80 weren’t given the option to choose their own builds, and there’s no way to reset hero points- they’re like skill points. Once they’re spent, they’re spent.
The people at level 80 just don’t understand that they didn’t lose out.
Are you below level 80?
I LOVE the new Lobster’s Arch (as my map dubbed it, this morning). I seriously spent most of the morning in awe, listening as people called out all the new things to see. I’m shocked that anyone can find this to be generic or lacking in nautical theme. There is a building shaped like a squid, your argument is invalid.
