Because we can’t be angry about both?
1. The search function is still not working properly. Entire categories return no results.
2. Warn me if my projected profits are going to be less than vendor value, or make it so the profits can’t be less than selling to a vendor.
3. Allow us to search by armor type. Just, please.
4. Allow us to search by specific crafting ingredients. (For example, “Tailoring Ingredients” should bring up a list of all items used in tailoring, including insignias.)
5. Filter option: “things I can afford”
6. Weapon filter option: “Things my profession can use.”
7. Show on the buy/sell interface how much you last paid for the item. “Latest buy order: 100 at 16c per unit on (date). Current buy order: 100 at 16s per unit.” The transaction page is clunky and removes all my search criteria, so I have to start over if I forget.
8. Make the search persistent while the TP window remains open. There’s a reset button for a reason. I don’t want to check what I’m buying and then go back and have to reset all my criteria. Or I don’t want to double check what I’ve already purchased and have to resubmit.
Thanks for your time!
Geez lighten up there Hoss. I’m not getting personal.
What I’m saying is players should realize that 98% of the time they are going to get Gem store stuff from the chests that they may not be interested in at all. That’s it’s primary purpose, to offer a sampling from the store. Now there is an off chance that there is something really cool and really rare in one but they shouldn’t make it their life’s work to find one.
And isn’t the Perma TP or Perma Banker contracts extremely rare, as in 1/10ths or a percent chance if that high. That’s a Melville level quest there. They are meant to be extra, extra rare otherwise they aren’t special then.
As for unfair, now if you were sitting on a bunch of keys and they changed up the odds by adding or removing the “special” non Gem Store items in a patch, yea, that can be unfair. But what I’m pointing out is that the boosters are never going to be removed from the chests and their odds will remain relatively the same. And as I said before, tweaking the majority of key drops to add scraps and tickets for skins is logical from ANet’s POV since the purpose of scraps and tickets is to increase the sales of keys. Keys bought with Gems that are hopefully bought with cash.
I understand your frustration. You have a bunch of XP and Kill Streak boosters, which has like a 20-25% chance to get one of them in every chest, and you are mad as heck that you aren’t seeing the rarer items like the contracts. And by denying you extra keys for something you don’t care of like skin tickets/scraps you feel that it’s a money grab.
Well it IS a money grab, you’re just caught up in the wake of it. But ANet needs players to buy gems with cash, to show a profit to their masters in the Korea. These “grab bag” items are the most profitable way to do so in every MMO with a cash shop. And the really desirable stuff has to be rare to ultra rare. Even one in one hundred can be considered too common when you consider
tenshundreds of thousands of chests have been opened.I’m not attacking you, I’m just trying to talk some sense as to why what you suggest will never happen. Keys have gone from a common to rare drop to make room for skin tickets/scraps, whose purpose is to sell more keys. Boosters and common one time use items will always be the majority of what gets dropped from a chest. And when you do get something uncommon it will likely be a BL salvage kit or one of those laughable gathering tools.
And as of right now, for the cost of roughly 225 keys when bought with gold, roughly 800g, you can buy those two contracts off the TP right now. That’s around $325 in gold bought with gems bought with cash. That’s your alternative. Playing “scratch tickets” hoping for a one or pony up the gold. Just putting it into perspective.
If it is their aim to sell more keys, they have failed miserably with me, and others. I’m not begging for something rare, I’m asking that chests reliably have something fun, interesting and useful. If I open 25 chests, there should be several things I can point to at the end of it which feel rewarding. It shouldn’t feel like opening my daily chest.
I get that random is random, but this system is not engaging as is. I think you’ll find yourself in the minority if you try to argue that chests are satisfying as is.
I just hit either 52 or 53. I sold all of my items during the disequilibrium, and I don’t buy items for salvage purposes. I’m still selling most of what I pick up if it’s a decent enough profit.
I have no plans to stop until max level, if that’s even possible. It’s not like luck can be sold, or anything.
The thing about dyes is my own neurosis, and was meant to be lighthearted- the bit about not identifying them. However, I’d like it if the chests had a “quality” filter- masterwork or higher. They already have unidentified hues in the game, so quality shouldn’t be hard to program in.
That said, as far as I know, there are currently no skins available at 10 scraps. Given that my preference is currently for the skins at 5 tickets, with some of the sclerite pieces following, the minimum I need is 30 scraps. This may change in the next two weeks, but that’s hardly my point.
My point is that the risk/reward for chests is ridiculously unbalanced. Thus, I’m not buying any more keys. I’ll settle for the ones I get from personal story/exploration/drops. I’m not asking for ascended weapons or anything that would make the game buy-to-win. I just feel like the chests should be more rewarding than they are. Nothing you say will make me feel otherwise, because we have the same data.
And I forgot about my ranger. Just shy of 30, and okay to level with, but not my first choice.
No, my point is that I’m not going to spend any more money on keys because none of that is even remotely interesting to me. I’m not going to open chests until I get 50 scraps. That’s just not appealing. The skins are nice, but the risk/reward for scraps?
Also, don’t ID the dyes? Are you out of your mind? O_o
I get what you’re saying, digiowl, and I even agree that it does follow that formula…. but calling Scarlet “Lovecraftian” may have the unintended effect of disturbing Lovecraft’s corpse and drawing him to you to eat your sanity, bit by delicious bit.
There should still be semi-reliably good rewards in chests. I know it would encourage more people to buy the keys, which seems desirable from Anet’s standpoint. As it stands, I’d rather have something I know I can use, instead of gambling with something that is full of largely useless items. Account bound mystery tonics? 70c dyes? Account bound killstreak boosters? 3 scraps of black lion tickets in 15 chests? Yeah, not worth it.
Charr thief was my first class to 80, and I love it. Then I leveled my asura mesmer, and had a blast, but I haven’t geared or really played that character much. My human engineer is my main for dungeons, though I’m considering swapping to my thief for sheer utility. Sylvari guardian is my latest level 80. That leaves me with warrior, necro, and elementalist. I’m having a lot of trouble enjoying the elementalist- may need to reexamine the weapon options- but so far the ele is hovering around 50, and the warrior is climbing at 35. Didn’t have room for a necro until this latest sale on character slots, but I’m really enjoying it.
EDIT: All that being said, I agree that there are significant flaws with several of the classes, including the engineers’ reliance on kits.
It sounds like you already have more than one foot out the door.
My ring finger is still inside, if you get what I mean.
That you…. want to marry me? I guess?
It doesn’t work on dyes. But either way, you’re clearly not enjoying the game. You’ve either fully considered or don’t want to consider the options listed here. It sounds like you already have more than one foot out the door.
I did the Maw and lagged out due to the number of people there. No chest when I came back in, but credit for boss week… Sure “glad” they got rid of culling in pve.
Seriously, a 5 minute timer might actually come close sometimes, but 15 minutes is hilariously long.
The game is B2P, you can get EVERY single bit of content in the game for in game gold. Yes its true you can. There is NOTHING in the gem store that actively forces you to purchase it to progress content. There is nothing in the gem store you cannot get by simply playing the game.
Okaaaay… can you point me to where the unlimited continue coin drops from? …other than from gems? That, is a content item, not something to just pretty up your pixelated character with.
Though GW2 is not an “F2P”, they certainly do seem to be shifting towards a reliance on the sale of gems over releasing a paid expansion. Where is mention of an expansion? That was how they were going to make money as a B2P, right? Or is that from gems now? That is something that f2p’s rely on. Most mmo’s have mention of the coming expansion by first year end. So, the OP is just sensing what a lot of people are.
Your ‘unlimited continue coin’ argument would only have merit if continue coins were not available in-game.
I’d suggest you all start by looking at the day Scarlet Briar’s patch went in, since that’s when all of my mail was deleted. (Including some I’d been saving since I started playing.) Luckily I had recently emptied my mailbox, or I would have been in much the same position.
EDIT: I’m not sure that’s the right patch. I think it’s the one that deleted the watchknight mini from everyone’s collectibles. But, yeah. It seems to me like there’d be enough specific data for you guys to come to a reasonable conclusion, rather than being forced to search every moment of every day over the last four months.

I played WoW from mid-vanilla until March of this year. I was a fantastic healer and a moderately good off-tank. I liked those roles. I found the mechanics to be interesting and varied. I could heal effectively with 3/4 classes (3/5 after monks were introduced; never did get one to max level- same with paladin).
One of the deciding factors when I switched to GW2 was the lack of the holy trinity. I like the option to support without the pressure to be the healer in every group. I enjoyed it, yes. But if I wanted it back, I’d still be playing WoW, or any other MMO in existence.
I am strongly opposed to introducing a trinity system in GW2.
When I identified an abyss dye the other night! Also, when I noticed how pretty some of the cultural armor is, when I saw that the bird in the Zephyr Rucksack back skin makes noise and anytime I see that the daily activity is the sanctum sprint.
I think it’s neat that people who went to a special event have a special in-game item to commemorate that. I don’t think I understand how not having access to this one mini is suddenly making people feel like they should stop getting other minis. It makes no sense. I mean, I don’t have a rig that allowed me to get even close to Liadri, and I really wanted her. Other people accomplished stuff I didn’t, and that’s okay. Just how I feel about it all; I’m not trying to imply that anyone else should share this opinion.
Not all the skills had their caps raised.
Crafting and full exploration of city maps. Personal story missions also give a good boost, and that should be enough to push you into new areas to explore until you can dungeon.
Your personal story missions should give you a healthy chunk of experience now and then, too.
I love these little games, though I never tried Dragon Ball. I was really hoping to see Aspect Arena in the lineup! I’d also really like to see more courses for the Sanctum Sprint (my favorite thus far). I know there are slight variations to the course, but it could get really clever.
I’d wait to hear a response from the team for your bug report.
I haven’t posted much on this forum, but this kind of thing makes me want to stop playing this game. Not the issue with the patch; honestly, I could care less about accidentally resetting an achievement with some arbitrary reward. What makes me want to stop playing is the whiney, entitled responses from selfish players who clearly can’t appreciate the intense amount of time and effort required to create such a huge, polished game. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
Actually, in a business relationship (which this is) a customer is, in fact, entitled to a product he or she feels is up to his or her standards. Anet isn’t doing this out of the goodness of their hearts; they’re doing it to make money. Hence the customer feedback.
I don’t agree with all the vitriol, but it’s laughable that you can stand there and wag your finger at people for daring to express that they are displeased with a product they paid money for.
Yes. They worked on a fix for a while but came to the conclusion it couldn’t be fixed. (I was 3/4, one daily away from finishing, as well.)
The ring says “Unique” on it. Unique means “one of a kind”.
Ignore the stuff about “this class is hard!” and play the ones that are fun for you. If you are loving Elementalist, stick with it! Also, the classes change dramatically based on what weapons you are using. So if you don’t love a class at first playthrough, unlock their other weapons and mess about like that. Thief didn’t work for me until I discovered the shortbow, for example. And it took me until almost level 30 to really get interested in my engineer, because I wasn’t taking advantage of the weapon kits that come with the class. (Seriously, flamethrower is one of the most fun class abilities in the game.)
If you like the feel of a class, stick with it. And I also feel like the warrior is distinctly different than the guardian. Likewise for the elementalist/necro/mesmer.
Welcome!
Most of you didn’t actually read the entire keyboard description..
The ‘macro’ keys located behind the F-key row are raised so that you can basically slide your finder down from one of those keys while pressing it and land on the F-Key underneath.
This fits exactly with what Anet considers acceptable. It makes it easier to press two buttons with one physical action, but you are still pressing two buttons.
As for the keyboard itself, I agree with the above poster that this is NOT a gaming keyboard. There are much better choices out there.
A macro is not the same as a keybind.
Also, I did have a judge sign off on a warrant for my tone. Promise
Oh, goodness. My apologies.
Okay, so I guess what I’m wondering is what functionality does this gaming keyboard, designed specifically for gw2, offer that my $10 keyboard doesn’t? If I’m buying a gw2 gaming keyboard from Steel Series then shouldn’t there be specific features geared toward gw2?
That’s the issue I’m having. How is that unreasonable? I feel like your tone was unwarranted.
Wait, where are the discussions about this topic? The description for the steel series keyboard does state that it supports the use of macros on its feature list. I’m confused about the draw for buying it if that’s not what it does, since lots of other keyboards have back lighting. I’ve done several searches, so if I’ve missed anything, just point me to it.
It does seem to happen more often when I use the shortcut at the end of the race, but that’s not always the case. Still, that’s good info to have- thank you.
I am frequently reaching the end of the sprint only to be informed that because of a late start, no rewards will be handed out. Is this due to any late start in the group whatsoever? Because I can verify that I am not starting late or even joining a race in progress. This even happened once when I placed third in the race. This is not happening when I first join the Sprint- this is after I’ve run, placed and been sent to the beginning of the next game, complete with countdown. I’m playing an 80 asuran mesmer, if that matters. I’m not in a party.
