Because we can’t be angry about both?

I’ve never won the lottery. Is there a way we can fix this??
(edited by Moderator)
Gate of Madness actually has a really big RP community. TC used to be a strong RP server but at some point many people who dont care about RP joined the server due to its WvW and World bosses stuff, thus making the server just like any other, if not worse.
TC still has a really strong RP population. I’m not saying your server doesn’t, but just because we’re good at WvW too doesn’t mean our RPers have gone away.
@OP If you like needless walking so much, why don’t you just ignore all the shiny waypoints and, well, walk all the way? Why don’t you just walk right by the very few crafters outside of cities (who even uses them on a whim, without access to the bank or trading post pickup)? Why don’t you simply ignore the default ‘O’ key and walk and talk to a trade post representative whenever you want to buy or sell something?
All crafting stations give you access to your bank and your collectibles via tabs on the left side of the interface.
Oh, hey. Thanks. I had no idea you could even do that.
Ah, okay. I’ve had no luck with the rarer stuff. Every now and then the very occasional Plastic Fangs, Chattering Skull, or Nougat Center. At this rate, I don’t see how I’m supposed to get 10,000 of these for the recipe to make the Gift of Souls.
Unless they drastically alter the drop rates, there’s no way I could (or would want to) farm up that amount of materials. I do not think it is even possible, to be honest. I agree with Zaxares that the only way to do it is to buy materials from the trading post, and then it doesn’t even feel like something for the holiday.
He’s talking about previewing dyes on an outfit he doesn’t have yet.
Non-player characters. Any of the enemies in the Labyrinth.
I’ve gotten one of each as a drop off NPCs in the Labyrinth, and that’s it. (And I feel like I’ve gotten lucky, there)
Give it a memory feature as well, so I do not lose my search when I click on different categories.
Anet will probably sell the new TP features in the gem store…
That’s a ridiculous conclusion to draw. It doesn’t even make any sense. The way they handle their cash shop is incredibly fair.
It would be nice to be able to search for back items and underwater items. It would also be hugely helpful to have a filter to sort by “can be used by this character” so I don’t have to search through 8 different weapon categories. (This is in addition to the above)
Uh I already pointed out I found it. It’s called Healing Seed….

Uh, people usually don’t read every single post. Read OP then answer.
You should. Particularly if there are only three or four posts to read.
You CAN craft, even if you’ve learned it on alts. I find that personal story gives a huge chunk of experience, and doing story dungeons is helpful if you have a reliable group. I also agree that fully exploring zones and participating in as many events as possible will help you out a great deal.
I came from another MMO, so I am biased, but it is so much quicker to level up to the cap in GW2 than it was there it almost doesn’t even count. I did not find that I had been through even half of the PvE world after leveling two characters to 80. I still need to explore some of the higher level zones, in fact.
I do use crafting if I’m feeling stuck or just want to craft. I think cooking is the most dynamic craft to use for this purpose.
I love alts. They work for me because I do not like being stuck in one type of gameplay. I think that some aspects of gearing them up are unnecessarily hard right now (the karma nerf hurt alts, in my opinion), but overall I don’t think the system fails.
I can’t speak to your WvW woes, because that’s not my thing.
Does a cat has 4 ears? No
Seriously, learn about things before you post. Charr do, in fact, have 4 ears.
Best thread I’ve seen so far. I agree OP. This is how I’ve felt after a month or two of playing GW2. I miss the old huge exploration without all the waypoints and all that. I hope the expansion packs of GW2 can fix this.
Fix what, exactly? You can run around and explore without using waypoints if you want to. The option is there for you.
I love waypoints. They remove needless tedium for me. They’re not hurting your game, so just stop trying to force your style of playing on anyone else.
A suggestion for this problem. Have a way to lock an item so that it can’t be accidentally sold or salvaged until unlocked by the player.
THIS. So hard.
I can be absent-minded at times, and I’d like to be able to prevent myself from being on auto-pilot and selling off things I’ve transmuted or salvaging things I meant to keep.
You need to buck up on your law degree if you think they’re guilty of false advertising.
My JP chests always seem to reset with the daily, so I’m not sure why yours would be behaving differently.
This is a great thread! Thanks for the information, all!
My engineer was intentionally mismatched while I was leveling her, for RP reasons. I have leaned toward really vibrant colors, particularly on light armor… and I love how there are great colors in every rarity.
Orangespring, Sand, Blue Ice, Lemonade, Sincerity, Midday, Oxblood, Warmth, Cocoa and Taupe are colors that I find memorable (and/or use frequently), off the top of my head. I haven’t found a lot of greens that I really love, though.
Choice is good. Seriously.
What does this thread title even mean? What’s impossible?
I really like waypoints the way they are. You get to see the world when you explore it and do content in it.
I think you have to be on the top 10 scoreboard for it to count, in that case.
That stuff could be coming in the second Halloween patch. That’s what I’m hoping for, anyway.
(snip)
On a side note making someone open a lot of doors and get a certain silly amount of stuff so they can even do the dungeon is not fun either for many..You don’t need to do anything except go through a door in Kryta to get to the Labyrinth.
Thats fine if true i thought you needed a candy corn mini to pass the dungeon, either way, the rest is still true for a lot of players.
Oh, that’s the story part of the event. I misunderstood what you were talking about. I think the OP is talking about the Labyrinth which is just reached by accessing doors in the open world.
I think it’s strange that the meta achievement relies on daily events to flesh it out to the 13 needed so you can progress the story, I’ll give you that. But the story instances aren’t terribly hard and can be done solo or with one other person, really.

This achievement doesn’t count toward the meta achievement.
Do you have an invisible or otherwise specialized bag equipped? The items in those types of bags do not compact.
The Inquisition achievement doesn’t count for the meta achievement unless it’s specifically noted on the daily events.
I’m almost always in overflow for the Mad King’s Labyrinth on Tarnished Coast.
So, I just had to alt+F4 out of the game because occasionally when I fall after I’ve finished the Sanctum Sprint, I get caught in a load screen loop. It starts to load the second to last checkpoint (it never drops me at the finish line) and then shorts out like I’ve fallen again and again. There’s never time for me to do anything in between the load screens.
At least in Southsun Survival there’s not the incentive to get killed. Playing as a ghost in the Inquisition awards points just as well as playing as a villager, if not better. In Southsun the ghost form is more of a consolation prize.
You can go to ANY home instance, not just your racial instance, and mine your nodes.
Check by the trading post- that’s where I see him. My favourite is the pirate quaggan, and I am not a fan of quaggans normally.
In response to suggestions that karma was a fairly useless currency, they phased out the excessive rewards and made it exceedingly scarce. Apparently you can get a fair amount from high level fractals and WvW still. I tend to get mine through the daily activity (I will run the sprint endlessly when it’s up) which awards 1k if you win the event or 600 if you don’t.
That said, I’m not farming karma, and I feel bad for people who are. They cut the rewards by 90%. Seems like it would be better to make it a desirable currency by adding useful things to buy with it.
Repairs are one of the gold sinks in this game, it should be noted. If you don’t die at least once when you play, you’re probably not stepping foot outside the hub cities.
Edit: I don’t think I’d go so far as to say that GW2 is “harder” than other MMO games, it’s more that it’s a different mindset. Yeah, learn to dodge and how combat works and all that good stuff, but if you weren’t supposed to brush death often, why would there be downed combat?

The next update overlaps with the current one. Have we had any overlapping updates that were completely unrelated?
SAB and Tequatl
“Here’s what we believe: If someone wants to play for a thousand hours to get an item that is so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it, that rare item should be differentiated by its visual appearance and rarity alone, not by being more powerful than everything else in the game. Otherwise, your MMO becomes all about grinding to get the best gear. We don’t make grindy games — we leave the grind to other MMOs.”- Mike O’Brien
What happened Anet? You said you didn’t want it to be a grinding game but it is and with more updates that you come out, you are not lowering the grinding of the game but you’re increasing it. Example? Ascended Weapon. The new halloween weapon.
I’ve grinded so much in this game its unbelievable spending over 400g to try and get dusk with no luck, farming hours and hours with no luck, and it is coming to the point where the only thing which is farming champs is becoming boring. I have 6 level 80s and sometimes i have nothing at all to do. I have no legendary but thats because i dont want to spend hour and hours grinding for it. I would do it if it wasn’t such a bore to do.
Please please please make this game less grindy like you said you would!
Discuss Freely =]
Emphasis added by me. They didn’t say you wouldn’t have to grind for anything. They said excessive grinds would be reserved for cosmetic upgrades, not stat upgrades.
There’s nothing in there about not time-gating content. I am not a fan of how ANET is handling grinds (note my strenuous objections to the Halloween 10k grind), but I wish people would quit taking this statement out of context and using it to apply to whatever is making them unhappy currently.
I get that ascended gear deviates from this statement, but of course things change over time.
It’s a totally unnecessary piece of equipment that barely even qualifies to be considered cosmetic. I don’t understand the obsession with it.
That’s the point. Why make it prohibitively expensive when there’s not even a visual upgrade? If it were a 22 slot bag or something otherwise unattainable, then perhaps there would be a reason to farm for it, but as it stands… why is it even here?
I am strongly hoping we get more Halloween updates the closer it gets. I really want a Mad King related title. And I’m hoping they introduce new crafting options, because the ones currently available are terrible.
If you unlock the recipe you can make the item with materials avaliable all year round too. And when you could do that, the price settled around 200gp each, where its stayed even during the new event. There isn’t even a short window to make the recipe; you can buy the materials on the trading post after the even, and if last year is any indicator, the prices will be rock bottom for months after the conclusion of the event. But really, don’t bother with the recipe, its too expensive this year. Just save up and buy the weapon itself.
The materials aren’t available all year. I don’t understand how you think buying it off the trading post is an acceptable alternative to being able to gather up the materials. This is clearly an unreasonable grind for the time period, unless they massively adjust drop rates, particularly of the rare items.
Seriously, Anet, get in there and try to gather up 10,000 chattering skulls. Take your pick of just ONE of the rare item types.
If you want to make last year’s stuff really hard to get, that’s fine. But at least include some new skins for this year that can be more common and more easily crafted. There is currently nothing fun to work toward making in this event, and that’s terribly sad.
I’m also getting this error quite frequently.
Engineer: Kit damage should scale with gear/weapons/stats that I actually have, not a template.
Candy corn is also not the only material required for these things. You also need to gather up 10,000 of the yellow-quality materials, like the nougats and teeth. (This has been noted previously, but I think it deserves more attention than it’s been getting.)
Saying 10,000 items needs more context. There is a difference between 10,000 really easy items to obtain that one can get 5000 in 8 hours of gaming, compared to 10,000 hard items to get that you can only get 100 in 8 hours of gaming. So need more context in this regard.
Can someone please answer the one above. Really need the context in all of this.
This thread is referencing the halloween crafting materials, and the fact that the event weapons require an impossible amount of grinding (at present rates) in order to gather all the items required.
Specifically The Mad Moon, The Crossing and Arachnophobia.
(edited by Guhracie.3419)
For what it’s worth, this has precedence in the Holographic Dragon Wings, where it was far, FAR easier just to buy them off the TP than farm 100 Jorbreakers. :P
The difference being that the wing skin actually dropped during that event. These weapons don’t (at least not presently).
I didn’t even realize this was a Thing that Exists! I’m off to go check this out! (Thanks!)
A lot of people are making very specific suggestions of things to fix rather than over-arching topics, as requested. Hopefully the people who go through the thread will be able to distill an idea down to a more basic idea in order to count everyone’s suggestions. I’m also noticing that a lot of people are making entire outlines of ways to implement these specific suggestions. I’m under the impression that the call was for some wide-ranging discussion on major aspects of the three areas of the game (PvE, PvP and WvW), which would then become a more focused topic.
I might be wrong, but I think the time frame was reflected in the meta bar, like how the daily bar shows you how long you have left until it swaps over. (In the achievement tab)
Yeah I’m still befuddled why they have yet to release armor sets on the BLTC other than the old 3 we have there.
There are more than 3 armor sets on the TP. I think there are 9 right now.
I would really like to see those skins be added to the achievement bank, so they are reusable on the account, though.
