Because we can’t be angry about both?
Are Catcher Skins still obtainable through Sanctum Sprint?
I do not believe so. If they are, I’m the most unlucky person EVER.
This seems about as doable as the halloween weapons, but with more time to acquire the appropriate ingredients. I’d say it’s working as intended.
It might be Arah shoulders, I don’t have a charr, so I can’t confirm
the armour matches it should be a set. ANET should respond.
Concept art is drawn separately from animated artwork used for skin objects. It’s two completely different systems. Anything implemented in game has to work with all of the various body models (more or less) and their various skill animations.
One thing I keep noticing in mesmer builds is that there are no grandmaster skills that are really essential. I just don’t see 30 points in any of the trait lines.
Post edited! Thank you.
I don’t think it’s improper to include the guild name and tag. It’s improper to list the player’s character name, which you did not do in the first place.
inappropiate guildnames can’t effectivly be reported ingame. Best is to make a screenshot and file a support ticket. Atleast thats what the support liason told me some weeks ago. It is up to support to decide wether or not a name is inappropiate and not us
Also pls edit this thread. Naming the person and the guild is considered harashment and against the forum rules.
The person’s name isn’t included.
Offensive AND tasteless. I vote for both. I’d have reported it and let Anet decide.
The dyes will be permanent once you learn them, but they’re only available temporarily. There’s tons of free stuff in the game, and it’s well worth the price of the box. I’m just not sure it’s worth the price of gems these days. It’d be one thing if I could buy the dyes directly with my gems, but we can only buy a chance at getting them.
EDIT: You can also buy them from the trading post. Dulfy’s website should have a list of the names and colors.
I don’t think the gemstore should have a loot table. Loot tables are fine when it comes to drops in-game, but when I’m buying with my real money, I want to know what I’m getting. I don’t want to hope I’m spending my money on something useful to me. Chest keys being nearly exclusive to the gemstore is bad enough, honestly.
When I started playing, I was excited at all the cool cosmetic things the game was offering outside of the gemstore. I’ve watched those things get assimilated into the gemstore, to the point that it’s extremely disheartening.
They’re new temporary dyes in the gemstore.
If you don’t agree with the current monetization model:
1. Where does that feeling come from?
( At current RNG we can sell not wanted dyes, and as for for black lion chests we have black lion scraps. So I honestly don’t understand.)
I don’t understand this question. I think that if I’m buying something for a game with real money that I should be given a straightforward method with which to buy it. Black Lion chests are not rewarding and fun to open. The contents simply do not match up with the cost, most of the time.
2.How could they make it in a way without you feel like getting scammed , but still make a decent profit?
I’d buy a full set of the new dyes, even if they were only sold as a full set and I only wanted a couple of the colors. A random 3 pack for 800 gems, as long as it’s choosing ONLY the new colors, would send me over the moon.
In fact, I think they’d make money hand over fist if they had all the dyes on the gemstore (in addition to being drops in the game, not instead).
There are SO many cosmetic things they could just implement and sell directly at the gemstore, I don’t understand why they’re not just doing that.
Ah, I had been checking the wiki for updates since July, and had given up hope of getting an answer. Looks like I jumped the gun on this one. (I mentioned it in the “discussion” section, probably prompting the edit.) Thanks!
Do they glow or something? What makes them different then regular dyes?
They’re different shades.
I have one male character- a Charr. I do not like the male frame on Norns- it’s too bulky and unrealistic.
Giant cat-man with horns is fine but a norn is unrealistic? O_o
It’s fine for a fantasy game. Unrealistic may have been a poor word choice, though. I just mean male norns look like they’re on steriods, and the proportions feel off to me. Nice catch, though.
The wiki says that sylvari are immune to the cold, because they lack thermoreceptors. However, there’s an NPC dialog in the Grove where one sylvari tells the other that Hoelbrak was her least favourite place she visited because she was so cold all the time. I tried getting help on the wiki, but it doesn’t seem to be watched too closely, so can I get any information about this?
Also, if they are immune to the cold, wouldn’t they be just as impervious to heat?
Play a class that uses medium armor. You literally have about 2 choices of armor up until lvl 80. “Ye olde Matrix” trenchcoats and duelist gear. Once you get to 80, you have all the cultural armor available to you, but it’s still not as much “which one looks good?” as much it is “which one of these sucks the least?”
Cultural armor is available starting at level 35, dude. I’d advise you to look up some of the medium armors on the various gallery sites. I mean, I totally agree that they could use some diversity, but there are not “literally 2 choices” until 80.
EDIT: I also want to mention that I main an engineer and a thief.
I don’t agree with that . My warrior is a Male norn , but that’s the only male I have . A true warrior only thinks about glory and victory , you don’t need a brain for that . That’s why Norn and Charr are the best warriors : Strenght and Power will lead to the glorious victory of a warrior .
Wut? What the heck does this have to do with visuals?
I would LOVE to see this implemented. Any class using any weapon seems like great fun. However, it would likely be a right bloody nightmare to even begin to balance. And I say this as an engineer, who cannot swap weapons, and only has access to three items- Shield, pistol and rifle. That’s the whole of our weapon choices. Kits use up our utilities and are visually bad. So while I agree, I do have some reservations about the idea, and I certainly don’t see it happening.
I have one male character- a Charr. I do not like the male frame on Norns- it’s too bulky and unrealistic. Male humans may have quite a few options (comparatively) but none of the faces are quite what I’m looking for. There’s very little variation in the basic structure. I pretty much agree with your points, Trog.
90% of the armors basically look the same till your not 80
This is patently untrue. There’s quite a variety during leveling- including karma vendors, crafting and cultural armor, which becomes available at level 35.
and if your a new player you wont be able to afford the rarer and better low lvl gear skins.
and lets not talk about the amount of transmute stone you would need to constantly resking your whole gear till your 80.
I have a stack of the transmute stones (not the crystals, but the stones) in my bank that is over 100 right now. You get three every time a character explores one of the main cities fully. You get 1 with the daily occasionally. They add up. You only need crystals for your gear once you’re level 80.
But all of this is really beside the complaint this thread makes, which is that all armor looks alike. No, it doesn’t. Even medium has some interesting variations to it, despite the reliance on trench coats.
She is supposed to be a villian you are going to like killing her
I actually don’t share this viewpoint. I didn’t play GW1, so I don’t know about Rurik, but I really don’t feel much of anything about Scarlet at this point, other than annoyance at her portrayal. She’s not a good villain, she’s like a five-year-old outwitting an entire country of people. I hope they can salvage her character and make her death worth celebrating, rather than it being simply a relief that she won’t be popping up anymore. It seems like they’re certainly hearing our issues about the depth of the character and how she has been presented in-game thus far. Now we just have to see what they do with that feedback.
And I am questioning the value of that success when it is at the cost of so much goodwill, word of mouth, and general interest in the game from people like me. I realize I do not dictate the economy, I’m just wondering if they could do something better.
There’s a difference between the goodwill of one player who doesn’t agree with a company’s policies, and the amount of sales of a product put out by said company.
Long story short, if it sells, why change? And just remember, you aren’t being forced to buy these Gem Store items. Anet offers these items as optional, luxury purchases. Even then, players can still buy these items without spending any real life money.
This is a frustrating discussion because I feel like you’re intentionally misunderstanding my reasoning. I understand that they’re making a profit on these things, but I also know that they can’t possibly calculate how much they’re losing by burning up goodwill. Yes, I am one customer, but I am not the only one who feels this way. I’m not arguing that what they’re doing isn’t effective or anything, I’m saying that I feel like they could be doing it better, and that’s just my opinion.
Flame and Frost was the only way, as far as I know.
You just have to understand that catering to every taste and dropping everything that’s currently in progress in favor of a new idea just isn’t practical. But we can take that feedback, discuss it along with the rest of the lessons we’ve learned over the past year, and take it into consideration as we plan future releases.
From my understanding, that’s the purpose of this entire exercise, right? We’re not going to be implementing massive changes, but we will be effecting change in the overall sense of things.
Could you update this daily category to more accurately reflect the intended goals? “Let’s get those bodies moving!” isn’t terribly helpful.
The daily activity also awards a minimum of 600 per match.
True, but I think most people know this. The OP wants to buy obsidian shards. They cost 2100 karma. So thats 3,5 days per shard in that method. The more important part off the daily is that you get laurels. 3 dailies means 3 laurels that can be spent on 3 shards. So yes it is good to do your pve daily. it gives you 1 shard a day, plus and extra 2 every week cause off the karma (not calculating the karma from events in the progress off the daily)
Still small bits but yeah it helps!
No, I’m not talking about the “daily” achievement where you complete 5 of 8 options. I’m talking about the option that’s always on the daily list to do the daily “activity” which chooses between pvp games, like Keg Brawl, Sanctum Sprint, etc. Each time you do one match, you get 600 karma if you lose, and 1000 karma if you win. Sorry for the confusion.
Try both. Unlock all their weapons and play around with them. Choose the one that is more fun for your playstyle.
The daily activity awards 600 or 1000 (depending on if you win or lose the activity) each run. If there’s one you like, it’s a pretty nice haul.
Yeah that’ll only take you 2 1/2 years. (About +/- a few months).
You do realize you can run the daily activity more than once, right?
Edit: I am updating this to note that I’m speaking of one of the tasks that is always listed under the “daily achievement” heading- It is called “Daily Activity” and it consists of a rotating list of pvp games- Keg Brawl, Crab Toss, Southsun Survival, etc. You always get 1000 if you win the event, and 600 if you lose, each time you participate.

it’s the barbaric helmet.
also there is a 15char minimum on posts and i didn’t want to write “/15char”Maybe I should just thank you for your attempt to help others and move on,
maybe you should do that
What is the point of this thread?
Showing people who didn’t know about this piece that it looks like what they probably expected from th phalanx helmet. The fact that it is just crafted leads me to believe that many people don’t even know about the skin.
I partly wear crafted armor and get asked where it is from constantly.
Seems like that would have been a better thing to write than /15char.
The daily activity also awards a minimum of 600 per match.
What is the point of this thread?
Yes, but I think the point is that RNG bags are burning up goodwill from a rather significant portion of the playerbase. I mean, heck, make the directly purchased dyes account bound (IE: You can’t sell them on the TP). That would be fine by me.
It would be okay if they were releasing other similar items for a direct gem purchase cost and leaving a few rares out there, but I don’t like feeling manipulated for my support. They don’t have to game me to get me buying from the gemstore. Put some compelling things up and watch them sell.
People will complain about RNG for years on end, but at the same time, continue to go back and buy more. It’s like screaming that the cheeseburger you’re eating tastes bad, all while you take another bite.
They aren’t gaming you. If you want the new dyes, you make the choice to buy the RNG Dye packs. If you don’t like RNG, you can then buy them off of the TP.
Except I’m NOT buying it, so…. your point doesn’t really apply to me. I bought one of their RNG packs (Flame and Frost) because I misread the blurb and thought I was getting one of the new colors randomly. (Heck, even THAT would be better than what they’re doing now. Or only include rare dyes in the “non-set” dyes.)
Grinding is self-imposed. That’s true in all MMOs and especially true in this one, from what I’ve been able to tell so far. I was actually shocked at how small the difference is in stats between super-expensive and very affordable items.
Don’t dare try to inject logic into this “discussion”. Anet is out to get each and every one of us, if it’s the last thing they do.
I just wish we had an option to stop playing this terrible, awful game, and go play those other games that are so much less grind orientated and all around perfect …..
LOVE! Quoted for truth, and to say that you win all my daily internets.
They work because it’s like gambling. It’s the same reason things like raffles work. They could still make things random and rewarding.

Exotic equip = Superior
Rare equip = major
Anything else = minorAt least that is how I always noticed it.
This is what I’ve always noticed, too.
It is a gorgeous game world.
The branching choices in personal story (I wish this had been more developed, honestly)
The way the gemstore isn’t buy-to-win
The lack of Trinity-based combat.
Steampunk elements!
Meaningful loot on all levels of characters.
Active combat- run/cast, dodge, all of it.
Dyes!
Jumping puzzles.
Mesmer portals.
Emphasis on the home instance that’s been showing up lately.
Collaborative Development.
The community.
These dyes are more expensive than previous sets because their colors are more desirable, as others have indicated. Even a set of 75 is way too small to tell us anything conclusively. However, this is TERRIBLE luck and I do feel bad for you.
Unfortunately, the TP option is the only way to reliably get these dyes. I’d rather buy them from Anet, too, but as long as RNG is a factor, I won’t be giving them my money.
I’d suggest you submit a ticket for technical support to help you, then.
They promised tons of thing for 2013 yet half the content is missing.
Make your promises come true before making new one.
This tweet is bad marketing
Bonkers
How is this a promise, or marketing? There’s literally no information in this tweet.
There are tons of different armors. Use the trading post and right-click to preview. Or go to PvP and look in the lockers there.
To reclaim the abandoned name for free it would have to be a new character. Otherwise if you wanted to use the abandoned name on a different existing character you would need another name change contract.
Well, the OP does say “using a new contract” in it, so I assumed that was known.
It seems logical that you could claim it with an existing character. I don’t know for sure, of course, but that would be my guess.
Respectfully, Knighthonor, you’re playing the wrong game. In fact, you’re playing the wrong genre. You should go find some nice action adventure games to play.
again hate when people say this, because Levels wasnt always the Genre.
Playing with others in a world, was define this genre. not levels, since Character level trail didnt become popular until Everquest 1, and made standard from WoW which uses the same system as Everquest 1. those games were popular, but doesnt mean level locking mechanics is a good game design.
Okay, you are obviously trolling. Leveling was a huge part of RPGs well before computer games, and certainly before Everquest. Levels originated in tabletop gaming, and have been adopted by the vast majority of RPGs and MMORPGs have carried them along as a natural progression.
He’s not trolling, he’s just deluded. Note the points he keeps bringing up in his posts. FPS games. He wants MMO-RPGs to be FPS games with a fantasy skin.
What I don’t is people like him who play games they know they won’t like, and then complain about it. “I hate games with level progression. I’m going to play this game that has level progression. THIS LEVEL PROGRESSION IS STUPID AND THEY SHOULD REMOVE IT.”
The OP looks about as crazy as if I went to the Madden forums and demanded they introduce levels.
It would probably surprise you then that Anet originally conceived of GW2 as a game without level progression. I believe the point being made is simply that there is no inherent need for level progression in the MMO. The OP is not being crazy, just thinking the same thoughts as the Anet devs did before him.
I’m pretty sure the Anet devs understand that leveling is a core mechanic in RPGs and existed before Everquest.
To me, personally, it adds weight to making the decision of who gets which dye, and this allows the drops to be rather plentiful and the cost of most basic dyes to be under 1g. I also feel like a lot of people who spent a lot of money getting expensive dyes on more than one character would be rightfully angry at this change.
Oh yes, I understand the problem of implementing it now (I’d hope that if it was implemented then any unlocked duplicates would be returned as the item to the player). I’m not sure I agree with you that account bound dyes would necessitate fewer drops or that basic dyes were more expensive though. If a dye is account bound then that means each player only needs one of them (rather than five as standard), so any spares they get go straight on the TP.
Yeah, but I feel like they’d have to adjust drop rates and access to dyes overall to be more on par with finding black lion chest keys, for example.
I dunno. I still stand by my thought that gemstore dyes should be account bound, and I like the solution of refunding duplicates- that spreads the dye around a bit more. I’d be slightly more likely to participate in the RNG-fest of these dye collections, that’s for sure.

:) Charr perks up. “You want to see ridiculous? Check out our looks, sometime.”
Yeah, okay, but those shoulders are seriously… I can’t even…
I have just killed myself laughing at the thought of a thief trying to be all stealthy in those things. “Annnd…. I just knocked over that entire shelving unit. Discreet!”
