Sorry for the delay. Darn weekend!

I feel sure we can take care of this. Let me get an agent to take a peek now. Thanks for your patience.

In the future, this issue will not be a factor for our players because the devs are going to make some changes to these particular items that will make them account bound instead of soulbound. We don’t have a timeframe for this change, but we’re really happy that it’s coming and I think it’ll be soon.

You know, I figured this would make me really happy, but I’m pretty annoyed that I broke down and bought a duplicate sickle. Do you have any more information on this?

EDIT: Oh, I guess the information is already up.
EDIT2: You know, giving this time to sink in and so on, I’m really not bothered by the fact that I have two sickles. I really wanted the animation on the new one, so I’m quite happy with this change. I just wanted to update from being Eeyore.

Hi! I haven’t been running many dungeons lately, but I hope you find a friendly group of people to run with! There are a lot of great people in the community and it’s a shame there’s an attitude of elitism in some people for LFG. If you’re on a NA server, feel free to add me. I tend to be super laid back, especially when I know someone’s learning. I may decline to go on a run if I am just not feeling like it, which is happening a lot lately. Note: The difference between exotic and ascended is 5% plus an infusion slot. Maybe someone thinks that 5% is a huge advantage, but I don’t.
You only need ascended stuff if:
A) You run high lvl fractals and need more AR.
B) You find the skins absolutely beautiful (I’m here)
C) You like to put the blame on the equipment when someone kills you in WvW.

5% stat wise, you need to factor in the weapon base damage though which is used as the basis of damage….makes that 5% increase in stats far more than 5% damage output

Yes, but anyone can make the weapons without ever purchasing gems. Buying gems gives no advantage.

I pointed that out on page 1…I was more clarifying the fact that the 5% stat increase people throw around isn’t equal to 5% damage increase that people tend to assume.

Ah, so sorry. This topic is just so bizarre to me.

That said, it still doesn’t change the fact that different people are working on living story than would even be qualified to do general fixes like this.

Honestly, I wish I could sell my level 1 – 20 scrolls. I have 5 “mains”, all at level 80, and at least 30 experience scrolls that I have no use for. At least the skill point scrolls are still handy for MF crafting.

It seems like a pretty pointless gift for the one year anniversary of playing the game. I’m pretty sure I won’t have need of it by the time my “birthday” rolls around, and I’m pretty alt-happy.

Yes, gems to gold increase the pace at which a person reaches a competitive level, if we’re arguing that the meager increase in ascended is game-breaking, however they in no way impede anyone from obtaining the same stats without spending money. That is the bottom line, here. It’s not pay to win. There is no advantage you can’t get from playing the game.

All gold does is hasten a person’s journey. It doesn’t mean you can’t get to the same destination by other means.

If people who can’t get gems were being excluded, there’d be a tier of weapon/armor that would be only purchasable by gems bought with real money. That is the only way your argument would be valid. Why is that so hard to understand?

There are quite literally thousands of posts on the forums BEGGING them not to bother with more living story updates, but rather focus on bugfixes and QoL (quality of life) changes. They’d rather just add more of the same, over and over, and pretend the issues don’t exist. Meh.

Actually I doubt seriously there are literally thousands of posts that are begging for them not to bother with living story updates. There probably aren’t even literally hundreds. I’m sure there’s not 1000.

I’m not sure why people ignore the quality of life stuff that has been added.

I don’t always agree with you, Vayne, and I’m not sure I can speak toward the number of requests Anet has had about abandoning LS for just a bit to focus on polishing the game, but I do agree that many of the positive changes are frequently overlooked. I love how the daily has evolved into being much more flexible, and how they kept some activities on rotation (though I wish they’d just rotate which one awards karma each day, and have all of them accessible), and more than anything else- the wallet feature.

I think fully exploring zones and personal story quests give more experience than the zerg, due to diminishing returns.

edit: Oh, and I second the recommendation for cooking. It’s the most flexible crafting skill.

The Queensdale zerg is good for XP because all the champs bar spider are events and as you level up the eventXP goes up not down so you not only get XP for the kill but for the event as well . DR only effects drops .

I could’ve sworn I was getting some diminishing returns with some of my event experience, as well. My mistake.

Either way, I still feel like exploration/personal story is a better method overall.

Im not sure what you mean by polish..you want the game to be in polish language, as an option?

Regarding what others have said: They focus so so so much on living story, and not enough on anything else.

When was the last time dungeons got a good revamp? Not just one..but multiple?
When was the last time there was reason to just go out into tyria and explore, not related to any achievements?
When was the last time you DIDNT see the champ train?>
When was the last time Orr was significant?

There is another english word “polish” that has nothing to do with Poland. To polish means to make smooth and glossy by using friction, usually in terms of metal or gemstones (though it has MANY other uses). The implication here is that the game has many features that are quite close to being well-done; all they need is a bit of polishing. Smooth out the rough edges. Hope this helps.

Seriously, I am not a white-knight. I have my share of disagreements with some of the things Anet is doing. However, they have done an incredible job this year with keeping up with content, taking customer feedback into consideration as they can, communication and just overall quality (in the context of a buy-to-play game with a midsize team).

Halloween burned up a chunk of goodwill from me, and even I can admit that they’re clearly working to get these things implemented.

Yeah, every next gen MMO is supposed to be the next big thing in gaming. I mean, Rift even taunted WoW in their commercials. People are cautious about buying into new games without seeing if they succeed in the first six months. That creates a rather negative cycle, but it’s part of the reason a lot of games flounder in their first year. SWO and LOTRO are both well-known franchises, too. Marvel’s Champions Online, D&D… I guess we’ll have to see how they hold up as time goes by.

Not going to happen.
The only reason they would do that if people stop buying bl-keys cause they are fed up with RNG. I only hear complaints bout RNG, but don’t realise that complaining and still buying wont help a thing. All Anet is seeing is that the keys are selling and they are making a huge profit on it, so there is no reason to believe the NRG-haters and adept the system. So if you want RNG removed from bl-keys, then stop complaining but most off all stop buying!

Nothing will be changed as long as a lot of people are buying the BL-keys!

Why do you advise people to stop complaining about it? If we don’t speak up, nothing will get changed.

I will vocally oppose this practice as long as I am allowed to do so (in a respectful manner). I also do not purchase RNG items. Let’s face it- the chests aren’t worth it. There’s nothing reliable and fun to get in them. I mean, heck, even a 5-pack of unidentified dyes or something would be better than what’s in there now.

I believe that I’m not the only one opposing this and not buying these items.

Look, I get that it’s the in thing to bash on WoW, I really do. But seriously, you can’t just spout off whatever you want and hope that makes it true. WoW has so many advanced features to it that, for some people, the whole game is centered around making a beautiful UI. I’m happy to bag on the many flaws in WoW, but at least be accurate with your criticisms.

That being said, I don’t see why GW2 must have an answer to the Draenor expansion WoW just announced. We’re consistently getting new content. They’re one year out. There’s no need for any sort of expansion right now, even if they intended to roll one out at some point.

OP brought up a valid complaint, that people that don’t buy gems can’t compete in gold purchases, and everyone suddenly starts talking about cosmetics and ‘endgame’ and exotics.

This is the current state of the game. Unless you get incredulously lucky in drops, or grind all day it is impossible to be better off versus players that transfer from gems to gold. Even then, players that convert to gold can compete better than you in farming because they can buy ectos for the luck salvage.

If you guys are trying to look like corporate shills, then congratulations, you succeeded.

No, I’m saying it’s not a valid complaint. The exchange rates for gems to gold is not that great. There is NOTHING you can buy with gems (which is necessary to the game) and cannot be purchased with gold.

So selling gems for gold nets them more gold- but it’s not hard to make money in game. It’s really not a huge advantage.

Are attunements weapon swap or not?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Guhracie.3419

Guhracie.3419

I’d say the fact that you can swap to four weapon sets as opposed to the general 2 weapon sets balances out things like confusion/chill affecting it.

That makes no sense, elementalist is the bottom tier class right now in every single game mode. We can use a staff in WvW, and give people conjures in dungeons, that’s pretty much all we have at this point that competes with any other class in usefullness. Having 20 abilities versus 10 does not add to our power in any way shape or form, it just adds to the complication of playing, which I and a lot of players like and consider fun, but which we would appreciate not punishing us for playing correctly, for example, trying to remove a condition causing the condition to kill us.

Also why isn’t this in the elementalist forums?

Because it’s largely about the Dec 10th changes which were discussed here in GD and are currently stickied at the top of the page.

I don’t really like how elementalists play, so I’m not an expert on them. However, the ability to swap between 20 abilities doesn’t help you out at all? Really? You see no benefit to having twice as many available abilities as the rest of the professions?

Also, I’m in no way arguing that it’s fair or that it’s working, and I can’t change how the profession plays as I don’t have an Anet tag. I was merely offering a suggestion that makes sense to me. Especially given that I used to main an engineer, who can have up to four different weapon kits, at the cost of all their utility slots.

PvE is still pretty dull and doesn’t require any serious group coordination. Everyone is still just wearing DPS gear and spamming down everything – there’s no place for a support focused class(unless it’s damage buffing) when everyone can very well keep themselves alive and well on their own without them.

Bosses have some mechanics but they’re not like you’re going to see in a game like WoW where people start dropping like flies if they don’t properly handle them. For better or worse, there’s a lot of cushioning for failure, and some classes can get away without doing much active avoidance. Multiple serious mistakes have to be made by multiple people to fail most PvE content.

Tequatl, The Viscount, the Skeletal Lich and the Labyrinthine Horror would all like to have a word with you.

Tequatl needs 80 well organised participants, good luck with that cra…. err, Boss.

The others are temps … just when does Halloween finish?

So, no, no real change … I still play though, I nothing else to do.

It was a flaw in the argument that I was pointing out. It doesn’t matter that they’re temporary.

Levels segregate the game world

Respectfully, Knighthonor, you’re playing the wrong game. In fact, you’re playing the wrong genre. You should go find some nice action adventure games to play.

again hate when people say this, because Levels wasnt always the Genre.

Playing with others in a world, was define this genre. not levels, since Character level trail didnt become popular until Everquest 1, and made standard from WoW which uses the same system as Everquest 1. those games were popular, but doesnt mean level locking mechanics is a good game design.

Okay, you are obviously trolling. Leveling was a huge part of RPGs well before computer games, and certainly before Everquest. Levels originated in tabletop gaming, and have been adopted by the vast majority of RPGs and MMORPGs have carried them along as a natural progression.

He’s not trolling, he’s just deluded. Note the points he keeps bringing up in his posts. FPS games. He wants MMO-RPGs to be FPS games with a fantasy skin.

What I don’t is people like him who play games they know they won’t like, and then complain about it. “I hate games with level progression. I’m going to play this game that has level progression. THIS LEVEL PROGRESSION IS STUPID AND THEY SHOULD REMOVE IT.”

The OP looks about as crazy as if I went to the Madden forums and demanded they introduce levels.

I am not trolling nor delusional.
Somebody at Anet also had the same reason of thought that I did. somebody at Sony also was thinking about this as well. the game becomes fun from day 1 when you have the freedom to make our own fun rather than be told what and what not is fun. levels tell us what we can and cant do, until we do a grind, that some people may or may not enjoy.

I’m not arguing the fact that Anet may have had this idea to begin with. I’m not even arguing that it’s a bad idea. I cannot even get to those points while you insist that levels are not a core mechanic to RPGs. The only concession I will make to you is that there are, perhaps, some RPGs out there without levels. But, dude, the original RPGs did have levels. Tabletop, MUDs and MMOs alike.

I’m really sorry to belabor the point, here, but I cannot get past this fallacy in your entire argument.

I would have stared at myself blankly, and then asked for some kittening useful information- lottery numbers. Then I would have cussed myself out for being so forgetful. I can’t tell you what I’d do after that.

Silver Doubloons: a year of /ignore

Pretty easy to obtain. Run lvl 22 characters through the 6 very easy to obtain normal chests in Queensdale and plains of ashford. Do this daily and it shouldn’t take you longer than 10 mins if that. You will get at least 1 silver doubloon a day.

Really? You guys really believe that’s intended gameplay? Not doing a jumping puzzle but reaping the rewards anyway – on three characters that deliberately not level up so that they are in the “right” level range to receive silver doubloons? On top of that, it means people either have to delete their fully decked out level 80 characters, or buy three or more character slots so that they can abuse the jumping puzzle system on a daily basis with three or more characters?

On the other hand: Mesmer portals.

That is not intended gameplay, that’s abuse gameplay.

Would people QUIT SAYING 80s CAN’T GET THEM?

Go to the appropriate zone.
Kill.
Open bags.
DONE.

Really? Let’s assume 1 in 3 of the “right” mobs, let’s say centaurs, drops the “right” bag that might contain a doubloon. As I stated above, you need over 60 thousand bags of those bags for 250 doubloons. You are, therefore, proposing that people stick around in level 20 to 35 zones for a year and slay 180.000 centaurs just to get the doubloons. Do you even know how ridiculous that sounds?

Again, that is not intended gameplay, that’s abusive gameplay.

Did you see the Halloween grind? Literally impossible to gather (without buying a ton of the mats off the TP-to actually gather, oneself) all the required mats to make those weapons (The Crossing, The Mad Moon and the other one I always forget). Seems like this fits right in with that mentality.

If they do still drop, they nerfed the drop rate into the ground. People were getting them left and right while the event was up.
