IoJ is a good option in the middle tiers. They’re currently rank 12.
The server is stable (going up in ranks as servers above have internal fallouts)
and has relatively good coverage for a server in the middle of the tier range. If T1 is bothering your processor then you’ll probably do well anywhere from server rank 10-15.
Keep fighting the good fight Ebay!
I’m on a server that has seen multiple exoduses and has bounced around the tiers from kitten T7 and is only now stabilizing. It’s hard when multiple organized guilds leave and pull all of the skilled WvWders away from your server.
the punch to the gut isn’t so much the loss of numbers, it’s the cumulative loss of experience. All I can suggest is that you make it a server priority to have your commanders training your militia. Help the players still on your server see why you play WvW and you’ll begin to surge back.
best of luck.
/salute
PLZ FIX ANET. Mesmer would be my main if it wasn’t broken. =’(
temporal curtain swiftness and illusionary leap are what tickle me the most thought.
Also doesn’t work for Sigil of Energy
Probably this is a noobie request, but I kindly ask for an elementalist survivability and support staff build, designed especially for WvW.
Please note that I do not want to copy your build, I just want to learn some ideas from it.
Please keep this discussion serious, and do not reply on this topic if you are not an often WvW player with elementalist.
Thank you very much for your time and help in advance.
I command on IOJ with an ele, and most of the time i run the bunker build (0/10/0/30/30)
that said, I think that for sure 10, if not 20 of the points in the arcana tree can be moved around. I find that soldier’s armor gives me enough survivability to get zerker trinkets and such.
Guys, I’m going to have my engineer at 80 very soon and I’m eager to use it in WvW. Where do you guys think engis can be the most effective, frontline, backline, or roaming, and why?
In my experience, Engis CAN have a place anywhere in the zerg. Flamethrower tanks and support bombers make excellent frontliners once you know how to avoid the initial burst of CC and damage when zergs collide.
Grenade engineers are one of the best heroes for keeping ranged pressure up on an enemy, as you can be throwing blinds, chills and poisons ahead of your hammer train and force less practiced people to break away from the dense center of the enemy zerg, making it easier for your own front line to shatter and scatter them.
Roaming engineers are super hard to catch and kill (rocket boots, Elixer S, water fields and turret blasts/boots) and are an excellent addition to a roaming group.
also. Tinydunk. (start finisher on downed player, Elixer S, and laugh
Thanks for the character development guys!

Hey Anet,
Thank you for this latest piece of Living Story. It’s forcing changes to occur in the everyday player’s game experience.
I normally do not participate in Living Story as I am largely a WvW player, but the destruction of Lions Arch is a tremendous shift in the story, similar to the red wedding in Game of Thrones.
props to your writers and management for having the guts to take a risk like this.
Hi All,
The next round of CDI topics will be starting on Monday 17th February.
The topics will be as follows:
PVE: How would you like to see us evolve Fractals?- Owner- Chris Whiteside
PvP: What would you like to see from a League system? – Owner- John Corpening
WvW: What aspects of Edge of The Mists do you think could carry over to the rest of WvW and how? – Owner- Devon Carver
Bonus: Global: Professions: How would you like to see us evolve (profession: voting is currently underway) balance?- Owner- Allie Murdock
Thanks for the new CDI opportunity chris, as you can tell from many of the replies before this one, the community is * kittened off *.
(there’s 0 visibility on Anet’s direction. I haven’t even seen an Anet dev in game in wvw in * MONTHS *(ioj). What i’ve been hearing from folks is that they feel like you don’t play your own game.)
That said, I’ll primarily focus on the WvW CDI -
I enjoy a lot of the mechanics in EoTM, and i agree with one of the earlier posters who said that the maps should be re-worked to include destructible bridges.
EoTM has great terrain. The map being sloped adds a nice level of complication to open field zerg combat. (unrelated class observation: sword mesmers will cry if the maps get more sloping, because it will mean illusionary leap wont work an even greater % of the time.)
Also great about EoTM terrain, is the layering. I think that having upper and lower capture points in some high-strength targets (garrison, EBG keep, Stonemist castle) would make capturing those targets more interesting, and it might slow down karma trains.
those veteran kodans. kittenn.
my final contribution for this CDI would have to be:
Loot. An average Gw2 player will make approximately 3 gold in an hour (champion trains, dungeons, world bosses) as a WvW player, I’m making significantly less gold than I could be in PvE. EoTM has improved this disparity, but we’re not on the level with our environment fighting counterparts. Perhaps what we need are some special weapons like Genesis and Entropy (which only drop from gilded coffers) that can only be picked up out of an embroidered belt pouch.
A final thought: It would be nice if Anet could explain how Diminishing Returns affects WvW. IF the DR is simply time-gated, then I think that it could use another look.

Hey hoaxintelligence, how does your lag compare to the videos in this post?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Crippling-everything-lag-WvW-DR-LA-PVE
I wanted to add that I was able to solve my problem by lowering all my graphic settings to minimum. All that really changed was “choose best textures” off, lowering shader from medium to low, and same with animation. These 3 changes got rid of my lag entirely.
I can’t explain it as I used to get about 60fps in pvp before, but after patch it was unplayable until I lowered my settings.
I’ve tried minimizing my settings, it slightly reduced the frequency of my super-lag rubberbands, but it didn’t actually solve the problem for me. When I ran on minimum settings I was getting the lag bursts every 3-5 minutes instead of ALL THE TIME.
but i guess improvement is improvement. GW2 is such a beautiful game though, the gameplay itself isn’t worth the trouble that it’s putting me through if I can’t at least enjoy the hard work that has gone into the visual assets
I’ve also been having this issue, I’ve opened a thread in the Game bugs part of the forum
screencaptured video showcases the severity of lag in my post.
this is a big issue for more and more players it seems… Anet, please help us.
this morning
Hey Anet and everyone
Recently (last week and a half, approx 9 days) I’ve been encountering crippling skill lag in game. I’ve got a vimeo Video linked below that illustrates the degree of the lag i’ve been experiencing. I am not running multiple applications, and my video settings are all on LOW or medium.
(I normally run all high settings when doing dungeons/PvE)
(https: // vimeo. com / 85012919 <—( sorry about spaces in the link, the forum doesn’t like intact vimeo links)
I type a message into /T chat at 1:40, it doesn’t appear in game until 2:12.
that’s 32 seconds of lag!!!!
Now, some skeptics will watch this video and say “yes, there’s a lot of players in there doing a lot of things at once, you’re going to have some lag”
but i’ve had this same degree of lag when I’ve gone with 1 other player to golem a keep (0 defenders, just NPC gate guards)
My specifications :
3.5 GHz quad core Intel i7 Cpu
16 GB DDR3 2100 MHz RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680
Windows 8 64 bit
Internet: Xfiniti Comcast (speed tested at 1 MB/s upload, 2.8 MB/s Download 12ms ping)
Server: Isle of Janthir
i’ve downloaded the latest drivers for my video and audio cards.
For me, WvW is the only thing that keeps me playing the game. If this isn’t fixed, and soon I will move on to other games. I love WvW, (i haven’t played many other games where the things you’re farming can farm you back if you aren’t careful) and i want to keep playing it, but I simply cannot while this lag persists.
- Edit *
currently soloing camps in Crystal Desert BL, (Am alone and outnumbered) approximately 3-4 seconds of lag.
Edit 2 —--
now starting to D/C. I am just running around in Lions Arch
(edited by Hamster.4861)
If you’re looking to shake things up, try having a look at Isle of Janthir.
We have MINIMAL queues, normally only on reset nights. We have a friendly, and mature community of players and excellent NA prime and Oceanic coverage. Many of our WvW guilds operate in several time zones.
If you’re tired of queuing and want to get back to fighting, ninja-ing stuff and having CD’s KOME guild (40-70 man blob) be the biggest thing you run into, definitely give IoJ some consideration.
I can’t speak for everyone, but my experience has been that IoJ sat at the bottom of Silver Leauge with NSP and week after week got demolished by YB SBI and FA. However, fighting against superior numbers all the time does teach you some new tricks, and now IoJ fights with extra sharp claws.
We came off Silver in last place, and when our time to fight with HoD came around, we had a week where the score between first and third place servers were 300 points apart. It. Was. an epic week. CD won.
I also know that we are square in the middle of the WvW rankings. While our fights don’t compare to the skill-lag plagued blob-on-blob action in T1, We Are Relentless.
I loled when i read this whole thing.
slow clap great job anet. hope you find this thread
clearly the answer is you should abandon blackgate and come to IoJ.
I’m having this problem now. I’ve got 99% world completion towards my legendary. I cannot convince people to help take the towers I will need in WvW, which is one POI on green map and a few in Eternal Battlegrounds. Yaks has been red, as we’re in 9th place, forever. We’ve faces SBI for like a year straight, someone said? It’s ridiculous.
If world completion is going to be mandatory for a Legendary weapon, ANET needs to remove the WvW sections from it. There is no way for some of us to get these points, despite weeks of trying.
patience young grasshopper. soon you will switch colors and be able to map.
I realized this post was in the wrong section of the forum, so i moved it to the WvW discussion
I just want to call attention to the INCREDIBLY close matchup this week with IoJ/CD/HoD.
As of 9:07 AM PST The three servers vary in score by a whopping total of 300 points.
I can’t say i’ve ever seen a closer matchup than this one, and after weeks of getting utterly destroyed by the top of silver leauge, a matchup where EVERYTHING we do matters in terms of raising the score is refreshing, and a nice change of pace.
score when i finished writing this post:
HoD: 174471
IoJ: 174730
CD: 174500
wow.
/Salute to HoD from IoJ
This is the closest matchup we’ve had in a long time.
and we have been having a blast!
MOAR in the future.
P.S. we will make goreknock rage quit.
Crystal Desert just ate a huge steak dinner. But IoJ is having fun with our dolyak parade =D
