This is Begwyn my Necromancer. I’m proud of her looks. (It’s not incredibly original simply light T2 but I still get random comments in game :P ) I didn’t want to go the typical grimdark route that is popular among necros. She’s a Sylvari and I wanted her appearance to reflect her good nature.

New skills for me. So you have an axe in your hands… choose the axe related skills you want to use with it… that sort of thing.
Asura anything… I just can’t get into them and I tried.
Yeah my Charr warrior has been wearing the same stuff for a year, nothing else fits as well. ( I consider myself lucky I didn’t roll a light or medium armor wearer )
Welcome to the plight of the Charr ( actually, you must be pretty used to it too by now ) There’s not enough of us so we don’t matter
Edit: Wow that sounds overly harsh but it’s pretty much how it is

I much prefer commited guilds and I have yet to find one. It sucks when you join a guild with a concept you like pnly to find that 2/3 of the roster is commposed of rarely played alts. ( Happens alot on Tarnished Coast with Charr warbands)
Let’s face it, the cooking chef outfit is the last time they tailored gear to fit a charr’s body and culture. The traditional human chef hat would look silly on a charr head. Just like it does on that NPC in Diesa plateau, in my opinion of course.
I agree on all of your points, expecially the" running on all fours" and “not being a human with a cat head” ones. On the other hand, due to the charr’s unique anatomy my main character hasn’t changed his armor’s looks since a few months after the game’s release. (Mix of T2 and T3 heavy) EVERYTHING that comes out of the gem store doesn’t apply to charr. Most helms in the game saw off your horns and let’s forget about tails.
I have a few human characters and they get the complete opposite from in game items and gemstore ones. Suddenly I have too much choice! It’s kind of depressing because I would love to support the game more.
Shhhhh, maybe it will die out don’t call it… let Living story die….please… so that Arena Net can focus one Bringing the Guild Wars in Guild Wars 2…
Exactly. I’d rather see the vanilla setting evolve into new situations than have another blitz of bymonthly happenings. I mean there are still human and charr sitting in a tent in the middle of the field of ruins, discussing a truce… for the last two years. Neither humans or centaurs have made any headway in their struggle, etc…
I’d love to see minor evolution of things stacking up to something meaningfull over time all over Tyria than have a two week achievement rush in a given spot.
There is a story to tell EVERYWHERE!
A little off topic but I’d love to see Charr NPC town clothes from THIS game be buyable in the gem store… I mean, all the work is mostly done already.
There is also a bunch of Charr clothes that only NPCs wear in Black Citadel. They also happen to be the only “town clothes” that fit Charr without making it look like you put your t-shirt on your cat/dog.
A-Net wouldn’t even need to “waste time/ressources” creating them for a race with low representation since they already exist.
We get this thread daily,; the answer has always been, still is, and hopefully will always be: no.
The game is already a complete cluster-kitten of max size characters, giant, spiky armour, glowing greatswords and special effects. We don’t need them riding horses, sparkly unicorns or even some sort of mechanized, steampunk hippopotamus that radiates a green cloud full of carrots out of its nostrils.
Couldn’t have said it better myself!
I play mostly Charr, take a guess…
Excellent points, I would hope all this doesn’t fall on deaf ears.
I know I’m going to sound like a killjoy saying this but why do we want an April’s Fool feature again ? (Blizzard does it so… I guess ) …or another SAB for that matter? I’ve seen enough toy-like glowing equipment to last me a long time, a very long time.
I’m not dissmissing the actual fun that was had during the first two happenings but I’d rather be given a more interesting reason to visit the gem store. ( I haven’t given Anet money in a while and I would like to
)
You don’t want Tengu or any other non human-like race as playable. I say this as a Charr player. (Especially since the Tengu seem to share alot of similarities with Charr modelwise. )
When it comes to Charr armor, at this point I wish I could still muster the will to look shocked but as much as Anet has said in the past they were proud of their Charr creation I have trouble believing it. I do believe however we would have all been better served by having the “human with a cat head” they made great show of telling us they wanted to avoid back in the design stage.
I think leaving Lion’s Arch in ruins would give them a great opportunity to influx some life into the 5 other major cities in the game.
This is what my warrior used to look like. Nowadays he uses the T2 shoulders as they apear less bulky and he doesn’t spear himself in the eye when firing his rifle. I’ve loved the T2 helm ever since I first saw it in beta. It’s the only one that really covers the back of the neck well AND still looks like it affords the user some range of movement.

T2 Chest, boots and Helm ( and now shoulders) T3 Gauntlets and Tasset. Currently toying with the idea of T3 chest but it clips with the tip of the helm and the plunging V collar doesn’t make sense for armor…

the meta achievement grocery list garbage is why the living stories all feel the same. there is no backstory quests other than the occasional stupid 2 minute solo instance with bad dialog.
Exactly, that’s probably the #1 reason why I barely play anymore. I wanted to see the crystal desert, visit the Blood Legion’s homelands. Explore the underground tunnels of the Asura.. actually tackle the problem of the Elder Dragons. Instead I got this and ill fitting armor. ( I play Charr
)
That’s dissapointing to say the least. Seems like what is being said there is that Charr will forever be an afterthought.
All I’ve gotten out of this thing is trolls and kittens which makes me feel like uninstalling this kitten game at times. I CANNOT WAIT to finaly be done with the achievements that condemn me to back in this race again and again.
The OP has a point as far as Lion’s Arch is concerned. Would love to see stuf happen that doesn’t revovle around this god forsaken lag pit every 2 weeks.
7/10 and not because I see any fault with it but mostly because I would have probably gone only with Caineth or Liyonna. ( I know it’s not always possible so I realize I am being a bit unfair
)
My necromancer is called Begwyn and my Guardian is Sulgwen. I basically took old Welsh or celtic names for unrelated things, mashed them together and changed/added a letter here or there.

I play solo 99% of the time and I’ve been having a BLAST with the more challenging creatures. At 80, I actually get decent fights in some lower level areas.
Of course, I’m not implying that you should enjoy it too. Just writing this to say that there are some of us out there who enjoy the upgraded challenge.
I’m not a complicated person… I’ll pay gems to buy clothes ( for my charr ) when they make what the NPCs are wearing in Black Citadel available.
Just so folks know, this is concept art is an altered form of a Utopia piece titled “Kor.”
Going from this art, it seems to be an early concept for the Orrian abominations
I’m using cultural T2 myself and it looks great IMO
Can’t go wrong with the culturals IMO… they even have room for your tail ! Mine is using a mix of all 3 tiers.
This is my character currently. Mix of all 3 heavy cultural sets. Few of the dungeon gear looks real good on Charr ( with some exceptions depending on everyone’s tastes obviously ) so I stuck to the cultural ones.
There is an “item” that appears on the TP called “Name change contract” … none are in stock of course but I assume this could be a placeholder for something in the future.
I also eagerly await the opportunity to change my character’s looks.
Agreed with OP, this type of event doesn’t need to happen again. This game sells itself on its engaging combat and need to respond quickly to your foe’s attacks. This event simply isn’t playing to this game’s strenghts.

I’m not going through 9 plus pages of comments to see if it’s been posted already so I’ll juts drop it here anyway. For a reason I cannot fathom, if I start the game with the added comments … my dodge key is disabled. (It’s button 4 on my mouse) Remove the comment and it’s back to normal.
The in-game community is great… the forums however… Come to think of it, I have yet to find a single gaming forum for any MMO that isn’t filled with negativity.
My sincere apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. The search function yielded no clear results.
I am mostly asking because I was led to believe earlier that the game’s setting would be shortly after the events depicted in Ghosts of Ascalon. Which is to say some time after 1324 AE.
Meanwhile, several sources in game, one of them being the plaque at the base of the statue of Ferro the Butcher in Black Citadel, seem to indicate that the brand has been around for quite some time. ( It was formed in 1320 AE) It is implied there that Ferro joined the sentinels defending the brand ( where he earned his nickname) and then after his son was born ( Currently a Tribune of the Iron Legion Bhuer Goreblade) he offered to pay for his grandsire’s crime so his son could take the Gore name without shame, dying in 1318 AE. That seems to indicate that the brand was around for at least a decade
Regardless, that doesn’t even work with the fact that Kralkatorrik awakened two years later to create the brand itself.
I’m confused (and it seems the devs are too ?)
From my point of view, it’s situational like everything else. It’s perfect when you are about to be overwhelmed by mobs or as a saturation weapon. It’s an excellent aggro magnet in those cases however
I think the idea was for this to display the shadow on your face caused by the visor and have onlh your eyes stand out… but yeah… it’s brown O_o
This issue from my point of view is that alot of people who find the running animation for the Charr too slow “usually” have set their character to the largest body proportions. Mine isn’t overly bulky or tall and the issue is reduced significantly.
