That’s because people are misinformed. For the most part I have always ran dps or hybrid guard in pvp. I find bunker to be a bit stale, and doesn’t fit my play style.

Dps guards are completely viable in both spvp and tpvp. They bring a large amount of damage, yet have great sustain if you can manage your blinds, blocks, and dodges.

Aegis is generally applied five times in a fight if I’m alone, more if it’s a team fight. Which is why I use Unscathed Contender and Pure of Heart. Your initial burst is effective the most by Unscathed Contender. You can generally get off most, if not all your burst while maintaining Aegis.

You get Aegis when you hit 50% hp. Thanks to Valorous Defense.

Another thing people have to realize is the other Virtues adept traits aren’t worth taking with this build.

Vengeful- Not that useful. Instead of nine seconds of Retaliation, I get twelve.
Retaliatory Subconscious- Three seconds of Retaliation when CCd, again not worth it.

All other adept trait pertain to Consecrations and Spirit Weapons.

So that leaves Unscathed Contender and Vengeful. So what would you rather have. The ability to do 20% more damage, or three extra seconds of Retaliation.

Guards have some of the highest burst in the game. Problem is it’s very telegraphic and easy to avoid. That being said, burst guards are still very good when played well.

The main reason I feel why people didn’t get into pvp is because the separation. Having separate stats was fine, but that should have been it. It seems Anet realized this and started to add more PvE based rewards and more changes to help bridge the gap been PvP and PvE/WvW.

Unfortunately I think it’s too late. If most of this stuff was in a launch, the pvp population would be quite large.

Ring of Warding usable while moving.

Glacial Heart- ICD lowered to 10-15 seconds, and also 5% damage increase.

I honestly hope they stay the way they are. I personally can’t stand AI driven builds. Spirit Rangers and MM Necros are already powerful, for such a simple and brain dead builds. Last thing I want is another petting zoo running around.

This would make the healing signet even more powerful. You also have to factor in someone using Rune of the Warrior. So that would be a 2k heal every four seconds.

The Gates document has the best changes so far.

New Shout Skill: “HEY WANT STABILITY!?” – Grants stability.

New Shout Skill: “OKAY!” Also grants stability.

I have Mjolnir, Infinite Light, and Immobulus. Guess what I did with them? Transmuted them to ascend.

If you had 600g to craft Mjolnir, I think you’ll be fine crafting an ascend weapon to transmute it.

why do you use that kittenty heal

There are a number of reasons why I choose Litany. Shortest CD and another source of Fury. It’s not a bad heal if you can get your damage off.

Well I use a lot of different weapons. The build is still the same.

GS/Staff is great for team fights because of the aoe damage and support it brings.

GS/S+F is great for sustain damage.

S+F/M+T is for more burst damage.

I did play around with 0/5/30/5/30 for a bit. Wasn’t too fond of it. The stab from Courage is only three seconds and it’s on 69 second cd. If anything I’d just drop JI, pick up SYG, and use Superior Aria.

However I’m fairly happy with the build. It gives you a lot of sustain for a med build. Of course the drawback is like you mentioned with no stab.

I know a lot of guards hate Litany, but it fits me well. Number of reasons I like it. It promotes aggressive gameplay, it has the shortest CD, and it’s another source of fury.

I recommend turning glory to gold and dyes. Next rewards patch will get rid of pvp/pve gear so the legendary pvp blade turns into dhuumseal that goes for 3g on the tp. I have a very unsettling feeling that actual legendary particle clutter weapons on the smallest scaled goblins will be on the way for the effectiveness it will have camouflaging your attacks.

I generally just jump around the top 50 in solo que, and one thing I learned is I don’t like playing full bunker in it. When you play team que, you all have you set roles so it works well. Solo que is a different story, you never know who you’re going to get on your team or who you play against. So I personally like to play hybrid builds in solo. So that way I can fulfill any role.

These are the two builds I generally use:

First one is a team fighter build, works better for group play. Still decent in 1v1, but its main purpose is team fights.

Next one is a med build. It’s more useful in 1v1, only class I have a hard time with are good condition engies. Its damage isn’t has high as other med builds, but it makes up for it with the amount of sustain it brings.

I left the weapons empty because you can pick what fits your playstyle. I personally like gs and s/f. It gives you great dps, the ability to stick to targets, and a lot of blinds.

I believe some thing on the lines of 0/25/0/25/20, would be decent for a support build.

I also dislike fighting engies. However I blame this more on the game mode then the class. You are forced to fight on small points, that favors this kind of AoE spam. If there were other game modes I don’t think they would be a huge problem.

I can understand his frustration. MM necros are quite annoying. However all they are good for is 1v1. Other then that they are useless.

What exactly does a cookie cutter build mean? lol and whats wrong with it for going into dungeons? Are they the traits or are the stats off for dungeons?

Cookie cutter means marked by sameness and a lack of originality; mass-produced. Just means it’s a common build.

Also you should pick up Superior Aria since you’re using three shouts.

For PvE your are better off going something like 10/25/0/10/25.

I like the heal, however there’s just too much counter play against it. Blind, blocks, invulnerability, or simply CCs. If you can actually get your damage off, then it’s a good heal. Also if you don’t trait meds, it’s subpar.

Unscathed Contender, what does it mean

It’s a trait that gives you 20% damage increase when you have Aegis.

It works well in solo que. I did change it a little though. Dropped 5 out of Radiance and put into virtues to get another damage multiplier. Then also using Unscathed Contender. Yeah I know that’s gimmicky, but it’s a huge help with your initial burst.

Nice DPS build with a lot more sustain then the standard med builds.

I have to agree with Silven on this on. An extra 5% boon duration isn’t going to help at all, that’s half a second. Also another 5% virtues reduction is only around 3-4 seconds. Vengeful is only worth using if you put at least 15 into virtues. If you’re using Consecrations, I’d understand putting 10 into virtues, but you’re not. Purity isn’t random, it’s on a 10 second clock.

Justice is Blind on the other hand is one of the best minor traits. Can mitigate a huge amount of damage, and also secures stomps.

Well there’s nothing wrong with meds builds. I run them from time to time when I get bored and want to play something new. The thing I don’t like about them is all they bring is dps. If I can find a way to bring support and a decent amount of dps, I’ll take that road. This is a team game. Yes I play things that help me, however I also want to be a benefit to the team.

I use this for most of my solo que games. The reason why because it’s versatile. In solo q you never know what kind of players you are going to get on your team. This build lets you fulfil any role for the most part.

I’m in Honor just because I like playing with hammer/greatsword, so 2h mastery is basically required at that point. I could switch it up though – what is a more conventional med build? Down Radiance for RHS?

Also don’t get celestial trinkets they are bad. Celestial chest, legging, helm, and maybe weapon are fine. However everything else you can mix to get better stats.

Yeah unfortunately I got all those back when I was a newb. I’ve since replaced one, just need to keep farming laurels to eventually replace all of them.

A conventional med build would be 0/30/30/5/5 or 10/30/30/0/0. However you’re not using any one handed weapons, so 30 isn’t needed. 10/25/30/0/5 would be a good fit. 10/0/30/25/5 is still your best bet if you want to use Honor. I’ve run this build numerous times before, works well.

I wish they would change them to the same items that are in the mystery chest. That would make it more worthwhile to open.

I have no use getting the same gear over again. Also I have almost 140% mf, so I don’t care about the luck.

Something like this is probably what you’re thinking about. I believe someone made something similar awhile back and they did well with it. This is mainly for WvW and PvP.

So 0/5/30/30/5 with celestial gear. People have been doing this for awhile now.

Took the time to look through all the builds. Most are x/x/30/30/x, besides the med which is 0/10/30/0/30.

Also most are pure celestial gear which is not advised. You can get better stats mixing. From a WvW standpoint, there’s nothing really wrong with it. However you can do better. For PvE, I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

Yes it stacks. So it would be -65% condition duration.

Dolyak is a no. This rune is almost worthless. Heals 30 HP every second, not even close to being useful

Soldier or Melandru is a bit tougher. However I’d go with Melandru. Eventually in a fight, all your shouts will be on CD. This means you’ll have no condition removers. With Melandru, when your shouts are on CD. You’ll at least be reducing condition duration until your shouts come back up. If you weren’t running PoV then Soldier would be better.

Retreat for running around, HtL for combat. It has a shorter CD, and boons that are much more useful in combat. Also Aegis doesn’t stack, so you have to time it when you use it. If you don’t it’s just a swiftness buff, which is lame. Also I’m using Traveler runes so it’s very underwhelming for me.

I’m going to nitpick a little more. Better of going MF over AH. The reason why u are only running one shout. Replace SYS with CoP, and then also drop 2 handed mastery since you’re only using one two handed weapon.

You’re better of putting 5 more into Valor and getting MF or AH. For pvp/wvw, it’s almost mandatory so that you have some sustain, unless you got like x/x/x/30/30, but that’s a different story. Also you’re using pure of voice and only have one shout. A lot of other things I’d change, but these are the main ones I see.

“Teleport to the nearest ally with the lowest health and create a healing area around them.”

Does this mean nearest ally, or ally with lowest health? It’s very confusing. If I understand your video it’s nearest ally. This requires the guardian to run to your ally first which makes the teleport quite useless.

Also how many are affected by the healing area and what’s the range on it?

It teleports you to closest ally regardless of health. Which is why I hate this skill. It really should be a target skill. However Anet doesn’t want a “dedicated” healer class. Also only one person is affected by it, and it has a 1200 range.

If they would fix it. I’d drop JI for running med builds. Since you get the base heal, plus Monk Focus heal.

That’s how it was before and everyone complained. The population is too small for that. You just constantly had stack and high rated players, stomping new players.
