Just get Berserker if you want a more focused dps build. Crafting ascended isn’t too bad. Biggest problem is getting to 500. That’s will cost you around 70g I’d say if you have a lot of mats already, and only use buy orders. Once you get to 500, it’s fairly cheap, and you can always make more with different stats.

Just don’t worry about them. Solo Q leaderboards are extremely flawed atm, and most people understand this. I suggest either getting a group of people for team que or just 5v5 hotjoins for fun.
Also it’s not like you get anything for being on the LB, so who really cares.

The change to sword damage from 5% to 10%. I’ve seen a lot of talk that maybe it is not really needed. The fact was this was a lackluster trait and this is a lackluster change to it. I would love to do the right thing here and have a change that MH sword wants rather than just 5% more damage.

I do feel that the sword buff to 10% isn’t needed, however I’m not going to complain. Some thing I suggest is removing the root from Zealot’s Defense with this trait.

Tome of Courage is quite good, you just need to make sure you have some type of stab to get Light of Deliverance off. Wrath on the other hand is just bad.

Posted my thoughts in the Guard section already, but I’ll do it here too.
•Zeal V – Shattered Aegis. Damage instead of Burning.
Overall not a really big deal. People still probably won’t run this trait, unless it’s a substantial amount of damage.
•Zeal VII – Zealous Blade. This trait now scales with Healing power (2%.)
Nice that they finally buffed this. However you buff the sword up 5% more damage. I don’t see why you don’t do it with the Greatsword and also Mace of Justice. If you want Guardians to spec heavily into Zeal you need to give us reasons.
•Zeal XII – Kindled Zeal. Increased conversion from 10% to 13%.
Still useless. This whole trait just needs to be redesigned.
•Radiance V – Searing Flames. Reduced cooldown from 20s to 10s.
This is the one I’m most excited for. With Sigil of Nullification you’ll be removing two boons every ten seconds. This one can be really power.
•Radiance X – Powerful blades. Increased damage from 5% to 10%.
Nice change.
•Valor V – Retributive Armor. Increased conversion rate from 5% to 7%.
Didn’t really need a buff, but whatever not going to complain.
•Honor VI – Pure of Heart. Increased scaling with Healing power from 25% to 40%.
Pure of Heart isn’t bad problem is there are just better traits in Honor to choose from.
•Virtues VIII – Supreme Justice. Number of attacks going from 4 to 3.
I find this to be pretty interesting too. Going to have to wait until the patch for testing.
•Symbol of Swiftness: This skill now applies 4 seconds of swiftness per pulse, rather than 8 seconds if you have no swiftness and 1 second if you have swiftness.

The problem with solo Q it’s very hard to move up or down, due to the MMR. Once you are stuck in the lower brackets it’s very hard to climb out and vice versa. Since the way it matches people.
Pretty much; the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
It’s quite easy to drop. I went from rank 150 to 85% in 3 days. A lot of 4v5 and being out-classed over and over.
There’s always exceptions. However for the most part once you make it into the higher brackets you rarely fall out of them. Because the game will constantly match people on your team with similar ratings. That’s why there are so many blow outs in Solo Q. You’ll have a team of people from the top 100 vs a team of 75%.
You also have to realize that the population is very small. An mmr fix will only be a slight help. There needs to be more inventive to play spvp.
Of course there needs to be more inventive to play tpvp. They already stated they’re working on it, but also fixing the mmr is extremely important. If they don’t, when the new reward system gets implemented. The same people are going to be reaping all the benefits.

We’re making improvements to the way matchmaking works to prevent ‘stacked’ rosters from occurring. I’ve been on the receiving end of these rosters in top 500, and it definitely impedes your ability to win a game.
I think that once we roll out our rewards improvements we’ll see players taking all queue types a bit more seriously. When time equals worthwhile rewards, you’ll want to spend your time in-game efficiently (winning).
To prevent 4v5 and other mismatches, we’ll also be lowering the amount of dishonored stacks a player is able to get before being penalized. The current limit is too high. I don’t think that’s the only change we’ll make to prevent mismatched games, but it’s a start.

It’s harder to play then thief. Guards burst damage is easily telegraphed and avoided compared to other classes. If you’re missing most of your burst chances are you going to lose. You also have to rely a lot on blinds and dodges, compared to thieves with stealth mechanics.
However I’m not trying to scare you off. It’s very fun and rewarding to play. I recommend you give it a shot. You can always go into pvp and see if you like it.

This thread really needs to be locked because it has run it’s course. There’s nothing wrong with running a AH build in mostly or full zerker. Yes, ofc there are other builds out there that will give higher dps. However just because you use AH doesn’t mean you’re a bad player or not contributing.

My problem with it is it only removes poison, torment and confusion. If it removed three of any condition. Then I might use it.

Mace is still my least favorite weapon in a pvp environment. I don’t even know why I crafted Moot sometimes.
Any range can easily kite it, and even in melee it’s not good. Attacks are slow and obvious. Protector’s Strike either you just don’t hit them, or you hit them and dodge right after.
Yeah it rips bad players apart, but against anyone that is competent it’s garbage.

Solo Q is still broken horribly. I decided to do a couple of matches tonight and see if anything changed.
First game is a blowout. My team was stack
Second game I had to wait 20 minutes to get, and it seemed like the game just threw me into this match. I had a level 2 and 10 on my team. Needless to say we lost.
Final game once again was with a stacked team. 502-0
Still a waste of time until they fix the mmr.

I just hope that you gain rank points when you lose.
Not to discourage losing, but sometimes winning is out of your hands because of the hotjoin system. Gaining 0 rank because half your team left would be brutal.
You get points for losing. Its says flat bonus for playing games. You probably just get more for winning.

You can use zerker just fine in WvW. My dps has only around 12.5k hp and 2500 armor. It’s all about finding what your threshold is, and what you’re comfortable with.

I have no problem with them restricting certain mini, my problem is there is nothing telling me which cannot be forged.

Imagine my surprise when I tried using minis from Orrian boxes in the MF just to find out I can’t. And I spent over a million karma on that. So you can’t use account bound exotic minis in the MF but you can use other account bound exotic stuff.
This needs to be sorted out. Stuff that can’t be used in the MF needs to be clearly labeled.
Not really the same issue. The Mini Risen Priest of Balthazar are clearly documented on the wiki.

Really lackluster week from my view. The matchup was over before it started since Kain decided to roll over and die, no offense Kain.

Speed is still meh, the reason why is the 4th bonus. In combat movement speed is max at 25% unless you’re an ele or engie with super speed. So what sense does it make of getting swiftness on hit when you’re already have 25% movement speed from the 6th bonus.
Change the 4th bonus to Haste or something since it’s called speed.

Dolyak is quite bad.
If you want tankier runes, soldier is a good choice if you’re using shouts. Melandru is another popular choice. Another route you could take is stacking boon duration also.
