Just relax and enjoy it. It won’t be here by next month anyways.
I would rather play less and log in less. 30 days is quite a long time.
All because of log in music. Some people take things way too seriously.
This is exactly why GW2 is doomed. People have to voice positive things about the game or they will be told to behave differently or leave.
Beating dead horses isn’t criticism. It’s beating dead horses. I don’t see many civil critic posts getting deleted.
Honestly cut the hyperbole..and how the hell can you predict WHAT ESO will bring..community or otherwise? People need to quit drinking the kool aid..it only damages the game
You’re right, no one can know for sure what TESO will be like. But with that said, do you know what made the Elder Scroll series so good?
With the recent Oblivion and Skyrim (Morrowind as well actually), it’s immersion. I didn’t think the gameplay was actually that great, but how you involve yourself in the world, along with the size of it, was what made it great. That’s just half of it. Following that, the other half the game was mods.
That’s right, mods.
You can’t do that in an MMORPG.
(edited by Heijincks.9267)
I think its absolute garbage and not at all in keeping with Guild Wars lore or themeing….I have no clue where this game is going..it gets more juvenile as the weeks go by
I’m pretty sure the game’s path is staying on course. This is just a minigame. It’s not as if they’re integrating lore into the main game from it.
And yes I do want to see this permanent and further developed. With the mechanics GW2 already has, SAB has enormous potential for development.
Anet had an anti-farming policy.
Please link, or copy/paste this policy for me to read over – Thanks.
Actually I think the inclusion of DR is enough to explain that.
That isn’t a policy, that is their pitiful attempt at stopping bots with a line of code. Which it did slow them down on farming DE’s, but like all who run bots, adapt to new strategies, such as tele-gather, or worse hacking.
If they had a policy, I’d think that Diminishing Returns would have been in since release, not months after.
Anet tells us it’s for bots, but despite that, it affects legit players enormously as well (and as farming is concerned, not in a good way). The reason it’s there months after release was because, like some players put it, “not playing the game Anet wants us to”. The message there is quite clear and obvious, especially since DR extends beyond just outside world farming.
You asked for an “anti-farming policy”. Obviously there’s no official policy, but from DR, we can tell that farming isn’t Anet’s intention (eg. they don’t want people farming). If the game was about farming, we wouldn’t have any of it.
That’s a satisfactory enough of an answer. If you’re not happy with it, then I don’t think you’d be satisfied with any answer.
If you read up a little bit, you will see why I am requesting the policy from the poster who keeps telling me “ITS IN THE POLICY”.
If the game isn’t about farming, actually if the game didn’t have a cash shop we wouldn’t have DR’s, DR’s are there to stop botting and to ensure that people would still buy gems with money, not just IGC. If the game wasn’t about farming there would be 1 set generic gear, 1 set generic weapons, no loot, no currency.
If the idea is to just play and enjoy the game, all those things like blue to legendary/cosmedics are completely unneeded to do so.
Wait, come back? Why would anyone ever come back after completing something? >.> It’s almost as if I was hungry once a day, and this place in the woods had food… Hrmmm..
Well, this is a forum and I decided to put in my $0.02 regarding this — my own take — so I suggested something that could represent Anet’s “unofficial anti-farming policy”.
Of course it all funnels back to the cash shop. If everything’s so easily obtained that buying gold is unnecessary, then how would Anet make money? However, the presence of DR, because it also largely affects legitimate players, still contradicts the idea that this game is about farming. Even if this isn’t a contradiction, in your perspective every MMORPG would be about farming. An endless game needs some sort of carrot on a stick, and I don’t think there’s any simpler solution than that than to farm.
With that being said however, there’s still WvW, PvP, RPing, etc. to account for which farming is a lot less of a deal.
There’s no way to make absolutely everyone happy. Guess you fall into that minority, but as for the rest of us…
Let it stay.

There are hours upon hours of content that sticks to the original aesthetic and feel of the game. When you add in content, it doesn’t detract from the original content. If this content isn’t up your alley, then don’t play it.
I like that ANet is doing something fresh and different.
Also, please don’t be ageist. Age does not necessitate a person’s interests.
Not doing it does not solve anything. Simply seeing other people with this sort of stuff ruins the atmosphere of the game. I can not participate in that stuff from now til the game shuts down, but someone running by with an 8 bit skin or a goofy backpack ruins the feel of the world. You can’t simply not do the content or ignore the items. How would you feel if, in the next Hobbit movie, one of the dwarves was just an 8 bit cartoon? Would you just not look at him and it would be ok?
I’m all for funny stuff and minigames and holiday events, but let’s keep them consistent with the world we are in!
It was an Asuran invention. Done.
You could use that excuse to put anything in the game. Why not just say a wizard did it?
Doesn’t make it any less consistent. Asides, the only thing we’ll see out of it are new skins, and with that said we still have people walking around with candy canes and toy rifles. I think that’s more “immersion breaking” than this (not that it is).

guessed ppl will be mad at this.. if I gave a kitten about the storyline I’d prolly be too, thing is, gw2 story isn’t all that special or innovative or anything, it’s just some generic fantasy bs. but yeh lore fans gonna rage
There’s no such thing as a feature that will not make anyone mad. Asides from that, the lore already strays from “fantasy fantasy” with the Charr and the Asura.
Trying to claim what the “silent majority” likes or dislikes is fail, considering they are silent.
I will always remember John Smedly, CEO of SOE, stating that “people who like the NGE are playing the game, not posting on the forums” Shortly after that, they lost massive numbers of subscribers, and were forced to refund an expansion purchase to anyone that asked for it.
No one knows what the silent majority is doing. Silently playing the game, or Silently uninstalling it.
Thank you.
But do remember that his statement also cuts both ways. It’s like doing a sample of a jar containing pennies and nickels. If you take part of the jar’s content out and get 3 pennies for every nickel, chances are that jar has a 3:1 penny to nickel content. Far more likely that is the case than the contrary.
This isn’t your father’s fantasy MMO…
I mean, we have bows that shoot unicorns. I’m looking forward to the next serious fantasy MMO being released. GW2 is just a time killer until then.
I usually don’t say this…but thank god maybe getting rid of the people like you will bring the devs into making this game more fun. Just like how this minigame is.
I like many aspects of GW2. They had some great ideas that should be implemented in all MMO’s from here on out. When it actually has some competition, we’ll see how solid the foundation.
You may find that when the next AAA MMO’s are released, and you get rid of “people like me”, that you’ll be having “more fun” while consolidating servers and trying to find enough people to play with.
Since you threw the first punch, I could wish to get rid of “people like you” and see this game become what it could, and should have been. Just like mine, your version of “fun” is opinion, and we all paid the money to have one, even if it doesn’t mirror yours.
Actually, people who somehow didn’t like the new content and wishes it isn’t in GW2 makes up a very very very small minority.
I’m actually surprised it offends people.
I have 6 RL friends that still play GW2, and none of which post on the forums. All think the new content is silly and don’t care for it.
Not saying your wrong, just wondering where you get your statistics from?
Simple. We just do a sample. We take the percentage of people who liked it, then compare it with the people who didn’t like it. The sample is taken from various GW2 related forums.
So far, I’ve seen like maybe 2 or 3 people (including you) out of hundreds who aren’t even indifferent to it, but actually doesn’t want it in the game?
Actually they are actually working on one.
I don’t think having one extremely localized instance of 8-bit fun breaks the immersion in this game. Regarding the character selection screen, how long do most people stay in it anyway?
At least one of your alts can have one now.
In all honesty, after 4 months of labor it seems that the culling fix made performance worse for a majority of people playing WvW.
Even people with high end systems are having issues with Low/Low settings.
Why should people have to overclock their computers to run this part of the game at a decent level?
The lag’s always been there. It’s just that people can’t complain about culling anymore so they look for new things to complain about.
Put in new content that requires a time to do it: “OMG GRIND”
Put in some actual content: “Too little, want moar”
I have a level 9 thief that can dominate players in WvW.
Dominate already downed people you mean?
Everyone will adapt to it soon.
Or leave.
Yes, because Quickness is so super important. Let’s rename the game to Quickness Wars 2.
This cant be serious? Why not increase keep door/wall HP while you are at it? And also change the name of the game to TurtleWars.
To be honest we need more turtling in WvW anyway.
Most “official” forums in most games are filled with negativity anyway.
So how about the TOS agreement that came bundled with the patch? Did anyone actually READ it?
What did it say?
culling or no culling the load on the server is the same and the skill lag is the same , they havent upgraded even a key of a keybord as far as hardware goes
Culling is partially based on server limitations. Removing it requires extra bandwidth. I don’t think there was a sudden spike in skill lag. As a matter of fact, some people reported they had less.
Bottom line is, you can only beat a dead horse for so long until you get tired.
I disagree, we can farm COF P1 to eternity.
Apples to oranges.
its not his pc or inet , Anet wvw servers are laging as they stayted already and they havent fixed it for over 3 weeks now
Actually, this update requires a large amount of bandwidth on Anet’s side. Considering the skill lag isn’t sudden, it’s pretty safe to say that they have in fact upgraded their servers.
Whether or not they sufficiently did so is the real question. Also, your own internet causes part of it as well because the data needs to get to you in the first place.
I wonder how many times these types of posts are made per day.
Does that make them any less valid? Or do you comment with genuine curiosity and agreement with the points made?
As a matter of fact it does make them less valid because it gets redundant, but with that said, it doesn’t necessarily mean I disagree with them either.
Bottom line is, you can only beat a dead horse for so long until you get tired.
I wonder how many times these types of posts are made per day.
They fixed the culling, not the skill lag. Skill lag is a much more complicated problem per se, and factors into both your own connectivity speed and Anet’s servers.
Once the commanders get their ranks, I can expect everything’s probably going to settle back to the way it was.
Can I just say that Arena Net hates any class that doesn’t wear Heavy Armor at this point?
Except for eles. Apparently.
It was a glitch apparently. From this point on though, you can do either PvP or PvE monthlies to get the 10 laurels (but only once).
We all care about this game, in one way or another. Enough to come here and criticize and complain in the hopes that it gets better. It gets nasty when people get ignored, continuously, for months. That’s when the nails come out.
The problem is that people are often wrong. They get upset when they’re told they’re wrong. And they get upset when they’re ignored.
I know half the people posting on this board think they know the game better than the developers, but few of them even understand – fully understand – their own class. Sure, they might know how to play a build or two, but how many posters in the profession sub-forums give the impression they really understand their profession on a deeper level than “the website said to take these skills, those traits, and run that rotation”? And of those, how many give the impression the even care about – let alone understand – their profession’s balance against all others in PvE, PvP, and WvW? From my experience, not very many.
We just finally got Agony Resistance on Ranger pets. Prior to this patch pets would be next to useless in any fractal higher than 10 because they would be dead the second the effect appeared thereby disabling a large portion of both damage and utility of the class. And this is on a class that is already seen as pretty much pointless in high-end PvE to begin with.
We had to kitten and moan since the launch of Fractals to get this fixed. This should have never been an issue from the start.
Please don’t tell me that the developers actually know what they are doing because every patch they release makes it more and more obvious that they don’t play the same game we do.
To be fair, agony on pets could be countered by swapping prior to this patch.
I would also take into account for things Anet did respond to pretty quickly. For example, in WvW about a month ago there was an culminating issue with consumables abusers (Gears, Spikeroot Fruits, etc). Two weeks later the next monthly patch was released which fixed up the problem.

World bosses are pointless. The only thing that scales is Health. More people needs to be harder, not longer… Why do the guild bounties have no strategy needed?
This is a problem with enemy mechanics, not combat mechanics.
Roll a warrior, only use berserker’s gear and have fun.
I have a berserker warrior and I don’t find it fun. What am I doing wrong? lol
Oh you must have a Mesmer and or gaurdian in berserker gear then or if you play another class you must be support which means even less loot and not run very many dungeons.
Only if farming is all I do, especially when I farm with people around.
No, we don’t need a trinity. The last thing GW2 needs is to stray away from its niche and become more like other MMORPGs.
It’s niche was the AWESOME system of GW1….they already strayed away from that and made it MUCH worse.
GW1’s combat system isn’t the exact same as GW2. Most people disagree with having a trinity system in GW2. In other words, it’s your problem, not the game’s.
Asides, lack of trinity makes you liable for what you do. You can’t blame your fellow players for blunders as far as combat is concerned. Keeps the spouting of bullkitten at bay for one good thing.
(edited by Heijincks.9267)
No idea, but it doesn’t matter to me as long as there’s a sufficient amount of players for the game to be playable.
No, we don’t need a trinity. The last thing GW2 needs is to stray away from its niche and become more like other MMORPGs.
1. Dungeons have tokens which fulfill what you’re asking. Every dungeon has its own exclusive set of skins. Also, dungeons make more money than anything else already *cough*CoF*cough*
2. Get yourself a group and get coordinated. I’ve seen 10 man groups hold towers against huge zergs.
3. I won’t say it’s “needed” in the sense that we don’t need “WoW influence” in this game. If it ever comes as content, I’d welcome it, but I wouldn’t put it on the top of my list.
4. Agreed. Dailies could be a little more versatile, but not necessarily easier. That said though, the dailies are easy enough as they are.
If you can stack the dyes you get from laurels with a regular unidentified dye, there’s no nerf.
Ok, so if we gets influence, but not merits, why would we need the influence? Since that’s only 50% of what is needed to unlock the later content and small guilds struggle to complete bounties to earn the merits as it is. That would still mean they are locked out of the guild missions
10 people is sufficient demonstrated by some leaders of small guilds.
Yeah, 5 people makes it a lot harder. So does 4 people. Should guild missions be soloable at some point then? It’s good that there’s sympathy for small guilds, but it’d be extremely impractical to cater guilds that have 5 members or less.
My guild has no problems doing the content. We have an ally that invites us for guild missions. My problem is that we have to REPRESENT ANOTHER GUILD TO RECEIVE REWARDS.
If my guild members help kill a bounty, I’d like for them to be rewarded. Ideally without having to represent another guild. I have been unable to bring that to them to this point.
None of us were complaining prior to the introduction of missions. (Well, I wasn’t complaining.) The guild bonuses were a small advantage for larger guilds (we can’t keep up 24/7 buffs), but one we could deal with. The 50s + 2 rares + commendations rewards are CONSIDERABLY more valuable to people and much more likely to push them to larger guilds. That’s the issue.
Yes, but let’s put time into perspective. Your guild will eventually get to the point where you can do the missions that give merit right? If you’re in a small guild, the end content would be more difficult to do and to attain, no doubt about it. Due to less people adding to the collective effort, this should only be expected.
Zania.8461I think a better analogy would be as follows: If you are a cashier (guild member) in a corner store (small guild) would you expect to have same salary as a cashier in Walmart (giant guild)?
Guilds are a collective effort, therefore we can’t equate it to an individual level. As far as personal rewards are concerned, I prefer to compare it to a group project. You can do it with people, or you can solo it. If you solo it, your best mark on it won’t be better than someone who worked with others for it.
(edited by Heijincks.9267)
You think you’ll like it, anyway. We haven’t actually experienced it yet.
Well, it’s always great to be optimistic, it helps a lot in experiences.
Optimism leads to disappointment.
Not necessarily. If a company is worty of optimism, it actually leads to matched expectations.
I haven’t been disappointed by a.net yet.
Must be a wonderful world that you live in.
Nah, we just don’t have your negative mindset. If things don’t come out as expected, so what? It’s just a game. It’s not as if this patch is gonna kill the entire game as a whole anyway.
From some of the posts here, it seems like some small guilds just won’t be satisfied until they can do everything large guilds can do, otherwise it’s the same line over and over:
“This game caters large guilds only”.
If you own a corner store, do you expect to be able to be on par with a CEO of a corporation?
So I’m just wondering as to why there is no available Condition, Power, Toughness Gear? Is it because ArenaNet thought this kind of gear would be too overpowered in WvW?
Condition damage is a worthless stat to have since it can only stack to 25 and with condition removal being so common in wvw it would be even worse.
Stick with the other stats that are actually guaranteed to effect your target.
Nah, confusion is a nubstomper.
What do I find fun? I make multiple characters, devise builds, and use them in WvW.
Let’s just think of what can go wrong here (or rather will go wrong, as ArenaNet have proved time and again that quality assurance is not the Live Team’s strong suit).
To paraphrase Martin, these rare reward chests will behave much like the ones that drop from monsters in the world when you get “Special” loot.
We all know how successful THAT’S been.
How many times have you opened one of these little chests only to find that your “Special” loot is blue or worse?
I’ve had numerous ones of these chests just give Porous Bones for example.I foresee lots of angry users posting reports of no yellows from these new reward chests.
You paraphrased wrong. The chest appears like a daily reward chest.
You’re not stuck at 3/4. You can have it in 2 minutes if only you wanted it.
You clearly don’t want the monthly.
Listen … crafting was the easiest part of this monthly. And by easy, I really mean rediculously easy. It costs less than 20s from TP prices, and can be done with barely 50 weaponsmithing. If that’s too much for you, indeed you really don’t want the laurels.
So I really wonder how you come to the conclusion that you’re somehow stuck while clearly you’re not. This blockade is entirely self inflicted but not really there.
Ah hostility, why ? I have no desire to start at 1 and go to 50, i dont have the resources nor the desire to grind, because i dont enjoy it, so why should i ? Im fine accepting I wont complete the monthly acheivement however I figured I would post here and see what others think.
If the best you can come up with is durr just craft cause thats just the way it is…then carry on and flame away.As i said there is no reason it cant be broken into sections, and despite your OMG CRAFTING IS AWESOME mentality that im sure is swimming around your little brain, a good trade market has a mix of players that craft and dont craft, those that sell there resources those that buy, those that sell there gear and those that buy it.
Its a necessary part and therefor should be considered in game design.
You don’t want to complete your daily because spending such a tiny bit of money (like what, 20s?) is such a big deal, and especially since it gives it all back to you at the end anyway right?
Geez, even if I really hated crafting, I wouldn’t mind taking 5 minutes out of my way to gather the materials and just complete it for a reward worth a few gold.
(edited by Heijincks.9267)
This change was necessary. Anyone who didn’t realize it was “too good” was deluding himself.
It was “too good” only when compared with the rest of the game. The problem didn’t lie in the dragon chests having too good rewards. It was with everything else having bad ones.
Balance doesn’t mean nerfing everything down to the same level.
Anyone that thinks this change solved anything is deluding themselves.
I disagree with the bolded area. Even if chest loot was nerfed, it’s still nowhere as bad as it used to be, therefore it isn’t nerfed “to the same level”.
