The no combat at/on the surface of water is simply a bad design choice of water combat, because of the downed/defeated mechanic. The devs didn’t want us to be able to be “safe” at the surface of water and be able to fight (since the surface revives us slowly).

The limit should be removed, as the self revive at the surface is not anything great, our underwater downed skills are not great either, and mobs already have the ability to move us around with pulls/sinks. Basically, it could let us fight without causing an imbalance.

It’s been many months with it like this. Never was fixed from beta.

I predict it’ll either be a long time until fixed. Or they’ll just not address it and it’ll become an “accepted” bug. Lot of games have leashing and reset bugs, and the game fixes them to a point and basically tells the players how not to trigger it from the “fixed” point…. (if that makes sense).

It’s disappointing. I’ve not farmed Orichalcum in days just because I’m tired of the Russian Roulette suicide from Invulnerable mobs when I go to clear an area. Just isn’t fun to die when you played 100% correctly.

But hearing that you can use a green item as well, I’ll try it on a spare slot tonight. I’ll post again the result in a few hours (need to get my roommate to do it, as he has the spare slot).

Charr--Model, Armor, Clipping

in Suggestions

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

Charr have problems. First is the armor in-game was made for Humans, and then _s t r e t c h e d _ to fit the Charr. This causes distortion from the waist down, and the shoulders rarely sit where they should on the Charr.

Heavy armor suffers less, as there is little detail to below the waist. But Medium armor is horrible as many outfits have longcoats. Light armor suffers too, with details becoming a warped mess.

Take the leather Noble set as an example. The shoulders float above the shoulders on the Charr. I thought this was how the armor was for all races until I put on a Human. On the Human, the shoulders sit on the shoulders. There is zero floating.

Take Pagga’s Coat as another example. It has knives and daggers in the belts around the jacket. On a Charr, the knives are bent into 90 degree angles at the waist. It looks horrible. What good are bent weapons? The armor should have been designed for the Charr to display differently with the belts further up on the chest area to avoid being self stabbed in the gut. On Humans, of coarse it looks fine. It was made for that upright model type (Sylvari, Human, Norn, Asura).

There is another leather coat, that has pockets on the waist/thigh area. On Humans, it looks normal. On Charr, the pockets are stretch into a 2 foot long mess. It really is quite bad.

The Dredge Dungeon medium set is also bad, with the metal plates becoming larger, losing the detailed look it has on other races. On Charr, it looks like stretched polygons. Also, the head item cuts off the horns. The Charr suddenly loses it’s defining features.

The new Aviator Hat in the Gem Store also cuts off the Charr Horns. It completely disregarded the Charr head it its creation. If the horns were allowed to show now, the horns would clip with the ear piece on the helmet. It could have been made so much better. So much more quality and effort could have been put in.

The tail is never taken into consideration except on a rare handful of sets. The tail simply clips out the back of most sets.

There should be a team that patches the armor to fit and look better, like it was actually designed with the Charr in mind (*not stretched and tacked on in a copy-paste job). The armor is actually customized to look slightly different on Charr, so it fits their body model. Where was the designer to raise his hand and say “we can’t do this low quality work to our players playing Charr. We need to customize it to fit and look correctly to our high ArenaNet standard.” ? I wanted that guy to happen so bad….

The last bit is the Charr Model itself (which will not be changed, but feedback is feedback). From GW1, the Charr casters would stand upright. In GW2, the only time Charr stand upright is when saluting, or the idle emote when they toss their weapon in the air (somewhat upright). Otherwise, they are 100% hunched over.

I know I would have liked the Charr to idle upright when standing around. And discussions on the matter have various wishes to how upright people wished the Charr were. Some little bit more, some all the way, some like it as is. Armor would have looked better had the Charr not needed to have their lower armor stretched so extreme to go out behind their bodies. It would be nice to have the Charr idle around by standing between their current stance and to fully upright and back.

Before release, ArenaNet talked about meta-events in Orr.

I was excited.

Now that I did them… I find them lackluster. I’m having fun, but it is repetitive and a boring type of fun.

I thought Orr was going to be a complex endgame area. It is more of just a repeat farm. The events are not very different than the starter zones.

In my opinion: All Charr Armor is Terrible

I’ve found this old thread on gwguru and the linked pictures made me sad about how charr now

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/9034-charr-with-different-body-structures/

I had a large discussion with my guild about Charr.

We all wish they stood more upright, like they did in GW1 as casters. We all do not mind the hunched over look, but we don’t like it 100% of the time. The charr never stand upright unless saluting, or that emote of tossing their weapon in the air.

Some asked if I thought ArenaNet would ever patch them to stand upright. I love the idea, but no. I don’t think Anet will give us that. They would have looked so much better though had they modeled them to that upright standard.

As far as armor…. omg it is terrible.

Anet says time and time again how they aim for a high standard. So why didn’t anyone on the design team raise their hand and say “we can’t do this for their armor. All we did was stretch the graphic. It is terrible and cheap and our players deserve better.”

Where was THAT guy?

Are Charr Really Atheist?

Charr are atheist. They recognize things as beings of power, but not gods. These sources can be controlled or killed by the Charr if the Charr wish to invest the time and energy to do so.

So in their universe, they don’t believe in any gods. There is simply energy and the manipulation of it. Any details about their beliefs on creation are unknown. They may have a scientific approach, or they may ignore the question because they shun the whole topic.

Daylight savings is not effin complicated. PDT = pacific daylight savings time. PST = pacific standard time AKA NOT daylight savings time. If you would actually read what PDT means you would know this.

If you really want to be “international” maybe you should learn how time zones work.

You are a bit dense.

Read the post above. The world doesn’t revolve around knowing when America starts and stops Daylight Saving Time. Some countries have it, some don’t. And the ones that do, do not have it coincide with America.

It’s really great that you can convert time. Congratulations! I’m so happy for you!

The original poster can convert too! So can I! So can the others here! Wow! We are all so awesome! Pat on the back guys!

The issue, that was plainly spelled out with the original post, was that it helps us in dealing with others who do not convert time, or make mistakes. Adding or subtracting is so simple, that many tend to make careless mistakes. Or whatever reasons they have. I can empathize.

Just because I can do it doesn’t mean I’ll judge another who can’t. Nor will I say “hey, it’s easy for me so just figure it out”. That isn’t helpful.

Listing UTC (GMT) is just one tiny step closer to being helpful, as the world flips their clocks come their end to Daylight Saving (if they have one).

Your original wording was fine. The word “alone” at the end of the sentence made the meaning of the sentence clear, that using just that method alone would grant many of the needed materials.

Reading comprehension is sad….. so many people with so little thought.

The post isn’t about the poster needing to convert time. It is about everyone else needing to learn to convert time. You can’t do any of the above “solutions” since it requires teaching all of humanity. The post is about the fact humans are lazy.

Listing PST/PDT along with GMT is just more friendly to the international community. Frankly, I’m tired of converting 3-4 times to tell members of my international guild what time it is where I am, when the event starts for them, when so-and-so usually gets off work at their own time and will join us, and then converting all back again to all our times……

Having just GMT would be convenient and was expected.

Also, Daylight Saving Time is not a world event. Come November 4th, the time conversion will shift 1 hour for different places. It’ll be a mess.

With a low drop rate, I’d assume they’d bring them back at the same low drop rate and add new skins to boot.

It was much more common in GW1 to get holiday stuff. It was a sign you played that year in that event. You just finished it and were rewarded.

If GW2 switches to a rare and retired pattern, there will be even more outcry. Since many are being patient and calm thinking “I’ll just work on it this year and next.”

I’m from SoS and the only reason people can’t stand you is all this third person speak. cut it out!! I sieged a keep with you once and I thought this commander is ok, and has some smart tactics. then you do this third person rubbish and it suddenly feels like I’m following some fool around the map.

Do yourself a favour and stop talking like a nutcase. The only thing you will be remembered for is the idiot that talks like this.

It’s somehow a big deal? Frankly, you sound like a rude jerk. Some people speak in third person because of an inability to not talk in first person.

We don’t need to know what business you and your server thinks of with Daish. It’s not relevant to the topic. The only reason to mention it is to be petty, judgmental, and get a cheap laugh.

I’m glad I didn’t pick SoS.

And also, I’m usually vocal and calling out things to do in WvW. Once I get Commander, it’ll go a long way to getting people where they need to be, and increase mobility, and increase organization. But I’m in no rush considering the gold investments (plural) for then getting stuck to only 1 lvl 80.

I don’t have the time or interest to play the market. I want to play the game. 100g I think is great (or even more) since it more often keeps Commander going to serious players, but there is the problem of non-serious players getting it just to have the icon/status.

Would be nice to invest the time into it and be able to use it with my characters.

Well… the Outmanned Boon is a joke honestly. Can’t really do anything with it. You are outmanned. You can try to ninja around the map and run away a lot, but you aren’t going to get anything of worth with the boon.

Once people see it, they tend to go “oh crap, no point to play now” and leave. It keeps the population low. ArenaNet really did design the matches to snowball, not intentionally, but by human nature.

I can see the point somewhat. The design lends to the problem getting worse. First 3 days are balanced fighting, and everything after is just a lame duck.

Eternal Battleground Jump Puzzle Start Area

in WvW

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

I’m more for a zero siege tolerance policy myself.

But at the very least, the start zone should be un-siegeable.

When you need to fight to just clear the start, and then still have to deal with yanking the Mesmers off the cliff to prevent the rezzing enemy from just blitzing through your group to the water (to both prevent them from jumping down and re-sieging the start once you go inside, AND to keep the Arena from being a camp ground of more and more just teleporting up to the end)…. it’s just ridiculous.

When I can’t do content I want because of such behaviors, I’m not going to be “the better man” and just quietly go through when I’m able. Being the better man often means you end up with the short end of the stick. When I go through, I camp. I sit in there for hours enjoying not letting anyone else by. I could be doing better things and more efficient things… but I just watch TV half-afk waiting with my posse.

I’m getting skill points on my lowbie Mesmer just to port groups to the end to siege-camp the puzzle and put it on lockdown. If it is going to be allowed and encouraged by ArenaNet, then I’ll make sure my server is the one that benefits.

Eternal Battleground Jump Puzzle Start Area

in WvW

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

There needs to be a no siege zone or some buffer to prevent griefing at the very start. The puzzle is designed (as well as WvW) as the go-to place for camping and griefing, but there should be some locations that are off-limits for that behavior.

Walking in and loading, to find your body already half dead from ballista barrages is insane. You can’t even get a group in to counter, since they are a pin-point to AoE. Red is the most vulnerable, since they can be pinned down until the campers get bored.

It is acceptable in most of the rest of the puzzle, since you need to be deeper inside. That is harder to set up siege, run supply, and keep your Mesmers safe to allow a dominance of siege. I’m not for it, but I can understand if other people are. People love to camp easy kills. I get it.

But it is too easy to lay down siege at the start and just run in and out to keep the area locked down from any other players entering. You can snipe them before they fully load and destroy a team of greater numbers.

American players in EU servers in WvW

in WvW

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

Ok, I will tell about a huge problem we encountered in my server last week.
I’m not talking here about EU time zones, I don’t care about it, there is not big difference in EU times. What I’m tired about is having American and south American players in EU servers. This is a really big problem and most people in my server are really sad about this. I don’t accept the answer “we can’t do anything about time zones”, sorry. Many people changed server last week and many people including me stopped playing WvW last week just because of this reason. I don’t wanna change my server because of this, i like my server, but the situation in WvW is really boring at the moment.

I play in Gandara EU server. Last week, we had spanish Baruch Bay server as our opponent. Well, I and almost every person in Gandara are sure that not only Spanish people play in Baruch Bay but also Latin Americans play in that server. It is nopoint to fight for victory against them since they have huge amount of players all night and all day long. We were heavily overmanned, and that really ruined the fun i was taking from the game and stopped playing WvW like many in my server.

One big problem at having transoceanic players is ping problem. This again ruins all the fun, because many like me had 10 fps last week. However this is not the case this week since we don’t have Baruch Bay as opponent. We have better fps this week, how about that?

I’m not talking about night cappers here, donot misunderstand me. I’m talking about being heavily overmanned all night and all day long. Please ArenaNet but please don’t let American players play WvW in EU servers. I’m sure that there is the same problem in American servers too. Donot let transoceanic players play WvW in over ocean servers.

I don’t want to stop WvW from week to week, or change my server because i like my guild and server.

One other thing i wanna mention is I don’t like this ranking system at all. Ranking system should not work according to the points. It should work according to the amount of online players each server has. Current ranking system is so basic and not working.

We should all segregate ourselves to be only with people like us.

Oh wait….

The issue isn’t as simple as you made it. Americans are on your server too. It’s just luck that some have more people on at off-peak times.

What if you had your EU only servers for WvW and one server had a large late night population? Simply EU people on that server that stay up at night and always plow through you. And during the day, they have more players willing to WvW, so they often outnumber you around the clock.

Now you have the same issue. Again. Should they ban playing at night? Ban anyone entering greater than the lowest population server?

It just has no solution, and it isn’t really a problem. Your server should end up matched to equal servers. Eventually.

Those first three posters need to learn reading comprehension. And not be donkey-reared jerks when replying.

The poster was asking a question. Answer it.

No one informed the poster, so the discussion is going off-topic. AoE only affects a cap of 5 players I believe. But per tick, so a different 5 can be affected next tick.

If there really were that many bunched up, it probably was a bot. The bot simply targets 1 player at a time, and causes instant death. No clue why people bot the game, but they do.

Otherwise, if they were actual players that were bunched that tight, they were being quite stupid. A ballista out of their range would kill them.

No way to know now. I’d just ignore it. But if they were moving in and out of the area, they were just using the tactic to stay healed because they realized the enemy wasn’t catching on.

We use simple tactics often because people don’t catch on, and we’re ready to do the real work if they do.

If the player is an obvious griefer, you bet I’ll be rubbing it in that they died. The jump puzzles are a popular place for this. I’ll fight it out or run along with the enemy. I care not. But if they start trying to camp and they aren’t even doing it to keep the area clear for friendlies, then yeah, I’ll grab a group to wipe them and camp them right back.

Just last week we were not letting any ET through for trying to camp the jump puzzle, but we were letting SBI pass (unless they decided to suddenly fight after we let them get past the Arena, then their guild tag got added to the kill list)

This is simply a great idea. Addresses population AND value of objectives. ArenaNet needs to hire you.

Currently, I’m in a great match-up in Tier 1. But 1 of the servers has “mindless” zergs. While the other 2 have tactical zergs. It is a crappy way to play, but it works. You simply throw numbers at an object to suicide until you take it. Once the score drifts too far, people give up and it snowballs.

Then you get days of lameduck fighting with the mindless zergs being the dominate factor. So much better when it was even fighting with the tactical zergs. I hope I don’t need to spell it out about the difference.

This makes it so people are more likely to be excited about recovering the lead. They have a chance now.

As far as the earlier poster saying score is meaningless besides ranking us for the next match, I say bull. Because then we wouldn’t need to see the score. It is a psychological factor that affects play. It could have been hidden from view, and people could simply play. But it is there and glaring.

Excuses aside, there still remains plenty of time left in this match. We’ll see how it turns out soon enough here. Best of luck to the three servers in tier 1 still fighting what is a competitive match with none of us guaranteed a victory yet.

Let’s try and keep the sour grapes out of this thread so it doesn’t get locked.

There’ll be plenty of time to explain to the victor why they did or didn’t deserve to win or how they were allowed to win or whatever after the fact if anyone still feels like persuing it. (I’m betting no one will though and will just be hoping the particulars of the hardest fought match yet will just fade from memory ASAP).

A quick lesson on good sportsmanship probably wouldn’t be out of place here but if that’s a lesson anyone here has yet to learn then some random guy on an MMO forum probably won’t be the one to manage to teach it.

Well… it not really excuses. It’s explanation.

I’m IoJ. Since Sunday, we’ve had the Outmanned Boon on all 4 maps for 4-8 hours—during AUS peak. And I didn’t notice exactly when, but during NA peak last two days as well. I’m surprised we didn’t get left behind in the score (and still stayed in lead while under Outmanned). I’m proud of our Commanders. Just wish they’d show up more lol. We have more commanders running around doing the Holiday than in WvW. (hint hint Commanders)

People are doing the events. It isn’t “carebear”. It is having an interest in more than 1 aspect of the game. Plus, it was HUGE money the first day. Oh boy was that profit. =)

Running through the maps, SBI is MIA as well. It’ll always be that way I’m betting. JQ just has more of a population willing to do WvW than IoJ or SBI. At least it is still fun and evenly balanced. Can’t wait until the next match-up between our three servers. Hopefully SBI and IoJ won’t start bailing early. We need to rally people to fill the other timezones.

Pirate Outfit Skill Doesn't Work--Halloween Costume Brawl

The Cannon Skill does not give credit for hitting players playing in the Costume Brawl. It does put us in “combat” and it does hit the players, but we get zero credit. I can stand there hitting a friend, they are losing their health charges (the boon), but I’m not getting credit. I simply become a stationary target that can grief players (I can place the cannon and not get credit, but ruin those who are fighting each other by wiping out their stacks they’ve built up).

Also, the cannon hits US, the user. I’m not sure if that is intentional to be hit by our own shot, since the description doesn’t mention it at all. It takes away our health charges.

Lastly, the other skill ‘Walk The Plank’ is broken. We fall down, become a target for other players to get free hits (since we did a self knockdown), and it applies NO Cripple (the other players still chase after at full speed). Mashing the keyboard to do the Pirate Yarr as we get up doesn’t protect us, as we can’t cast it, but we are able to be hit by players.

Walk the Plank should do a knock back and cripple, to get players off us and time for us to get back up. The Cannon should register hitting players and give us credit.

Haven’t had a chance yet to actually do anything with the recent changes yet (it started too late and have to work early), but from what I’ve been reading in all the threads, yeah I’m getting really mad and disappointed. I was really expecting something like the GW1 events, with everything EASILY available to everyone. Now with this event, they’ve added yet another thing that goes against their “philosophy”. I was really looking forward to this, but not really so much now.

GIMME! GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!

Ahem, it’s cosmetic. They don’t cost anything. You choose to spend money. Or time. Or not. You can get stuff together and finish next year. Many options. They are not all instant gratification options. Maturity needs to be applied.

Enjoy the free to play game content, and work towards cosmetics if you choose. There are 6 silver weapons to use if you want to have “fun”. They last for 4 hours.

First world problems… woe to be us.

Please stop with the “it’s only cosmetic” bullkitten arguments. Why the hell even have them if they’re only going to be available to the top 10% (estimating, but can’t be too far off). Some of use really want them but don’t have either the real money, time, or ingame gold to even remotely be able to acquire them. They should be easily obtainable (and not just temporarily) for everyone. They should also not be in the stupid RNG items with such a low drop rate. All that does is prove that Anet only want to make quick money (yes I know they need $ to operate, but they could have made just as much by offering them individually in the store).

Uh… it is only cosmetic. There is nothing else to say.

Except maybe this: you want it? Then work to get it and stop being lazy and complaining. You can start this year, set whatever materials you get aside, and finish next year.

If you really must have these skins, then you know the various options you need to do to get them.

You say the skins should be easily obtainable? I say no. I like them to remain unique. Will I get one? Next year. It’s not a big deal, unless you’re a child. Kids like everything asap.

I was more than impressed. Very well done.

Thank you much.

Could I criticize? Oh heck yeah. But it still is wonderful. The pacing is a bit meh, with not enough events to absorb the “grind” into—a bit of a disguise if you will. Variety is the spice of life. But it is enjoyable and has a great foundation for next year to build on.

reading forums makes me wonder about humanity….

You get items that are usable from the chests 100% of the time. The skins are a cosmetic extra, that is chance. You’re responsible for making that decision. Not anyone else.

Don’t have time to farm for a skin? Then get it next year. It’s a skin, not an “I win” button. Doesn’t affect gameplay at all.

There is nothing to complain about here except pointing out faults with gamers having HUGE jealousy and envy issues.

The sheer amount of stupidity from so many posters is saddening.

You get bonus items from every chest opened 100% of the time. That is what you paid for. And luckily for us, we get a chance at something cosmetic too.

Stop acting like it’s a cash shop that somehow is ripping you off. We all get the same content. Deal with it.

It’s just as pathetic as buying a lottery ticket, losing, then asking for your money back. If you opened 20, 30, 40 chests, you’re plainly dumb to not have stopped sooner. Don’t blame the alcohol store for you being an alcoholic.

You have a gambling problem and ArenaNet should cater to you?? I shouldn’t have the option because YOU can’t deal? Get over it, you aren’t the center of the world.

Many of the Kits lack flavor. They are boring. (direct and blunt)

After playing a Guardian or a Ranger (or Thief or Warrior or etc, etc) and seeing how their weapons’ skills are so unique and fling the character around the screen, our Kits are pathetic. Engineer was a profession that almost didn’t make it, and it shows. The ideas are half-thought out, and then stop with no follow-up.

ArenaNet’s data must show how often (or not at all) we use various kits. After seeing how much playstyle changes with weapon choice on other professions, and how all Engineers feel the same (few exceptions) no matter what we pick... it’s just sad.

Take our Rifle, Pistol, and Elixir Gun. The rate of fire is all the same. Try stacking conditions. Looks nice right? Now play another profession and stack conditions. Now cry for the Engineer.

Take our Flamethrower. Watch how hitting something right in front of you says "MISS MISS MISS MISS". Readjust and try again. Ok, now we’re hitting them. We’re also being bashed in the face for more than we’re giving. Cry again.

Etc.

We’re not weak by any means, as we can work around the weaknesses of the kits, but it is just poorly put together. The synergy is messy.

The Rifle allows us to keep range, but requires us to be extra close.... it loses much of its point. The toolkit is just so bland.

Adding another weapon to the mix would be too soon. I think what we have needs to be tweaked to do more, and look better while doing it. Plus, as Engineers, it would suit us a lot more to have gadgets and gizmos attached to our skills, since we lack "Engineer"-like abilities overall.

Line of Warding Moving Friendly NPCs

Guardians are moving NPCs around the cities with their skills. Highly annoying.

In WvW, they can do it to exploit their own NPCs.

We can’t really report the players. It is against TOS I believe to call out their player/account names on the forum, and in-game what option applies? Spamming? Scamming? Verbal Abuse?

We have no option to describe their actions. How are the ArenaNet staff able to review player behavior, when they have no clue what to look for?

Isle of Janthir has players currently moving the Banking NPCs in LA. A lvl 34 fat female Norn is doing the moving.

[BUG] 10/7 patch - stuck on loading screens in spvp [Merged]

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Hsinimod.5784

Whenever you enter the jump puzzle in WvW, there is a high risk for the loading screen to never end. You are stuck.

On servers with a queue, this means being kicked out to the back of the line for hours.

Others can see your character standing there. Any commands we enter on the keyboard (while staring at the never ending loading screen) do nothing to the toon they see loaded.

The event has been frozen for a long time. Maybe a week or longer. It says the Order of Whispers team has crash landed, but nothing else. No NPCs are around the island. No enemies either (besides the regular map mobs). Nothing is happening.

[Mesmer] Clones not proper "copies"

in Mesmer

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Clones are a distraction, and still take timing to re-target the actual Mesmer. That makes the clones basically a free block for a half second.

This doesn’t count the damage the Mesmer can do, the clones, and the shatters—the whole time the fight is occurring. Clones survive 2-4 hits. Overall, it’s still a powerful mechanic, even if the clones aren’t perfect copies.

Perfect copies would be overpowered. I think it is intentional.

Guild upgrades are completely reset?!

It could be an old display bug. Ever since the betas and release, you have the upgrades still, but you can’t see them.

Or, if you switch to another server, that server has no influence earned, so it has no guild upgrades. All the upgrades are stored on the server the Influence was earned on.

Mobs Reset, Mobs Take No Damage, Downed State Skills Cause No Damage, etc

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Hsinimod.5784

I’ve seen this many times on my Ranger too – particularly in the water. It’s really frustrating to have a mob that is actively hitting you and/or your pet become “immune” and still continue to hit you (for general in-the-world mobs activating “I can’t path to you” protections, not special event mobs).

Other things that cause it:

  • Mob focuses on pet, and pet moves/is knocked back onto a rock – mob thinks it can’t hit the pet anymore and becomes immune – even though the mob is in melee range and/or has the ability to simply run (not jump, run) onto the same rock.
  • Mob is higher/lower in the water than you. They don’t understand height in the water properly. Even 1/2 a body length difference in height, with NO obstructions around, can result in the mob going invulnerable. They can be in Spear melee range, but above/below and will go invulnerable and start healing for 5-10 seconds before re-engaging.
  • Mob chases you across the map. You stop to fight it…stand in one place not moving, and at 5-10% health mob turns around and runs away, healing up again, invulnerable while running away, and then turns back around to attack you again. If they were leashed – why did they come back? Why did they take so long for them to decide to go? If they were not leashed – why did they turn around, become invulnerable, and run away? If they were just healing (like a player would), why did they also become invulnerable?
  • (Affects Rangers) Jump down off/up to a ledge to fight a mob at melee range. Mob stands there doing nothing and invulnerable. Look around and realise that your pet stayed on the previous ledge, and because the mob can’t hit the pet on the ledge it’s standing around doing nothing. Swap pets so that your pet arrives at your feet, mob immediately attacks pet but takes another 3-5 seconds to clear out of invulnerable mode (it’s hitting you/your pet, but can’t be hit back). Meanwhile, your opening skills are all on cooldown, etc – wasted because the mob decided that the pet way over there that hadn’t hit it yet was more important than the Ranger in melee that was actively trying to bash in it’s face.
  • More recently – I don’t think this was an issue originally, but the last week I’ve been seeing it a bit. Successfully kiting an enemy (in a circle, so not leaving leash range) with snares can see the mob decide to become invulnerable because “it can’t hit you”. Chill/Spike trap/SB “3”/LB “4”/speed boost from Rampage as One/dodge – if it doesn’t get to hit you or your pet for a significant period of time it goes invulnerable thinking you’re exploiting terrain, instead of just using the CC skills you had effectively. That’d tie in with blind also triggering it.

The severity of the “immune” has seemed to become a lot worse/more frequent in the last week or so for me. I don’t know whether that’s an artifact of where/what type of fighting I’ve been doing (e.g. becoming more skilled in kiting/using CC), or due to some change introduced in the patch a week ago.

^ all of that.

Thank you. I thought I must be going crazy with all the IMMUNE IMMUNE IMMUNE messages just from kiting, on land, while still being hit myself.

Or the resets.

Or the random pathing away, healing, then back to attack you.

I imagine we see it more lately because we (if you’re like me) are doing more node farming and events, so we’re getting used to dealing with the 1v10 fights in Orr. Since we’re fighting more numbers more often, we see how often they bug out.

I know the “better” I play, the worse the bugs are. The worse I play (sit there and eat damage) the less bugs pop up, but I’ll die. Even when stationary and being smacked in my face, I still saw the Embers fly away and reset for no reason, only to reengage with me. And I was outside of aggro range, so they should have reset and left me alone. It’s bugs on top of bugs making for a bad situation.

My biggest annoyance is relying on the Downed State. I’m clearing an area, I get respawn adds or immune mobs, or something that makes the fighting drag out forever, so I purposely leave some mobs near death, so I can rally off them and continue. Instead, I go down, and I start whipping my junk out. I “Throw Junk” at the enemy, and watch as nothing happens. No health loss. No explanation.

Or, they lose health as I hit them with my junk, but then at zero health, nothing happens. The mob keeps attacking ankittenep dying.

Would love for my skills to work. Or be better than Throw Junk.

Mobs Reset, Mobs Take No Damage, Downed State Skills Cause No Damage, etc

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Mobs will reset, go back to their spawn point, recover health, then reengage combat. We are kept in combat the whole time, so we lose health, we lose our cooldowns, and we need to fight the mobs again. This can happen repeatedly. Obviously annoying when it causes you to die.

The mobs have a clear path to us, they can even be on top of us, but will glitch. It is 100% repeatable to get this glitch to go off as an Engineer. Go to Malchor’s Leap map, go to the Valley of Lyss section, and fight the embers by the Skill Point. Use skills that cause blind, especially effective is Smoke Bomb. The mob seems to miss you from the Blind, which causes it to think you are on Terrain it can’t reach, so it will “reset” and then immediately reaggro.

In the game, you can ‘just run away’. But Orr, you can’t run anywhere without adding more problems and chances at death. HIGHLY ANNOYING.

During this reset, the mobs will become immune to OUR attacks, but may continue to attack until they finally disengage, go back to their spawn point, and then reengage. Very annoying when you are a sitting duck unable to do anything but die. All underwater combat is affected by this. Everywhere. No exceptions, and no places where it works as intended. Blind seems to be another way to cause this, but it happens with skills that cause the foe to sink or push back or any type of movement to the foe. Or, it just happens for no reason.

Engineer in the downed state can hit an enemy and take their health to zero, and then the enemy continues to live and attack, and we do not rally. All skills seem to become useless at that moment.

Another issue in the downed state of the Engineer is the number 1 skill may cause no damage, doing nothing from the moment the Engineer falls. The mob simply is immortal.

All this seems to be related to the player inflicting the Blindness condition on the enemy, possibly. I’m not entirely sure, but when it bugs out, it tends to bug all the way out.

I’ve seen all these issue in Orr, repeatedly, over and over and over. They are frequent. Valley of Lyss is the most reliable way to encounter the issues per every fight. Other areas seem more random.

Last, and the most separate issue, is that when no other players are around (frequently) the mobs still respawn as if you have a 20 man group. The respawn rate is out of control and poorly programmed. In WoW, high respawn areas will have the mobs respawn (and we can see them) but not aggro players for a few seconds (unless they are attacked) allowing the players to deal with the situation, knowing that they need to move soon.

In GW2, mobs will respawn and instantly attack. They add to fights when players are trying to fight their way through an area. And they are not part of an event. They are just mobs that respawn too quickly. The world has no persistence or change, especially when things pop up as you kill them, and are not even tied to any events or scaling because of other players. You are alone or with 1 other, and things magically pop-up infinitely.
