[March] Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Hsinimod.5784

I posted this in last month’s thread, but it’s still an issue: HoM heavy chestpiece displays salmon trim no matter what dye you apply.

Exact same issue. HoM Heavy Chest has that exact dye channel become that exact color forever and unable to get rid of it.

I didn’t use a makeover kit. The armor just was “bad” one day, the exact same colors as you randomly inserted.

Any word at all from Anet? Any way to reset it?

5 months is a long time to have my HoM gear permanently stuck with certain colors in the dye channels.

I been using the Hall of Monuments gear since release. No issues on my Guardian or Warrior, until now.

Since the last few days, my Charr Warrior (Heavy obviously) suddenly turned red on the stripe that runs down the HoM gear chest piece. It won’t revert with Remove Dye. It won’t get covered up. It won’t reset when relogging. It won’t reset when taking everything off and putting back on. It won’t let me transmute it again, since it says I already have the same item (duh, but it was my choice to make).

It’s not even a nice red, but some pink hue…. ugh

My last option is to waste my perfectly good chest piece with another chest piece to transmute again. Then hope the colors are not saved so I do not have the issue again. I’m not going to do that, since I’m tired of wasting my in-game money (like waypoint costs to the overflow and I miss events/guild missions due to full status). So I’ll edit when I do get a new chest and if it works or fails.

Condition Remover Daily Not Working

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

It might be that condition removal by way of “minions” (summons, pets, elementals, turrets, etc) may not count.

So removing conditions only doesn’t count as removing conditions when they are removed…. =/

The Engineer ability Super Elixir also fails. The light field it provides that you shoot through doesn’t remove conditions. It says it is, but Burning and Poison were not coming off.

I think there are 2 bugs. One, some abilities that are supposed to remove conditions simply are failing. Two, some abilities that remove the conditions simply are not counting. Probably related to each other in some way, bugging each other out.

Can't invite new Guild Members

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

It is broken if he, the inviter, is getting the error when trying to invite the invitee. He isn’t trying to join anything. He has nothing pending.

Specifics need spelling out, if that is the case. Is the new member getting the error too?

Also, the first line of the error should be rewritten “you have reached the maximum number of guild memberships and/or guild invites”

The way it is currently worded only tacks on “unanswered invite” at the end. Most people see “max memberships” and stop. They know they are not at max memberships and their concentration focuses on the wrong info, which was the first sentence. At that point, they’ll tend to ignore the rest since the error seems erroneous. Human nature.

No chest for Dragon event

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

It bugs out. Plain and simple. On every event that can spawn a chest.

Before the patch, it could happen. For no reason at all, people would not get the chest, but still get Gold for the event.

Happened ALOT on my Engineer, because the Grenade Kit damage would not count. For whatever reason, the Grenades would just not cause damage, even though they are my longest range….. they just were not hitting, somehow.

I learned not to use them. And to avoid ground targeting on other professions too. Just seems the “Dragon” icon and the hit box are no where near the same….

Besides that, other people are just unlucky. They did everything right and got bugs in return.

Since the patch, I notice if I do the events in under 24 hours since I can’t remember how long my “lock” is, it seems to reset my “lock” even though I got no reward. I remember showing up to a Shadow Behemoth fight on a “good” day only to still be locked out both times I tried. It was 100% time for me to loot, and yet… bugs.

Missing Gear Stat Combinations

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Item_nomenclature

Rabid can’t be crafted as an 80 exotic set. Only farmed through a scavenger hunt around the world.

Apothecary set requires 180 Karka Shells (WTF!?!?) and that isn’t counting making your weapons and accessories/rings/amulet (good luck getting the super rare flower).

We don’t have the option for Condition Damage, Toughness, Power.

Why are these so rare or absent? What is the reasoning? I know they have been requested since beta. Instead, we get even more restricted Ascended gear stat combinations.

FOTM only way to get Ascended

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

FotM is exactly a ‘raid’. You can only get Asended through it.

Eventually, you’ll be able to get it through other means, just like other MMOs. When the raid is old news and the casuals can’t get the gear, the gear finally moves into casual content.

Just like what happened here.

Orr is dead. Can’t get a group to show up for any Champ because every Champ in the game gives crap for loot. Anet said they increased the rewards on killing them, but come now, we know it is a lie. Nothing changed. We get blues and greens same as always. Vendor trash.

In other MMOs, we know if we kill a ‘Champ’ type mob, we get a ‘rare’ type reward 100%. This game is just… crap (in terms of rewards not being RNG).

Lost Shores is just Lost Content. Nothing is there except the only way to grind Apothecary gear. An insane and amateur design concept.

And even with all this “new” content and gear and ways to get it, we still have a gaping hole in gear stat combinations. Where is Rabid? Where is Apothecary (in a reasonable grind)? We get these stupid grinding sessions to try and put this stuff together, and been asking for them to address it. Nope.

Charr Story-Misplaced Faith+missing Warband

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

In Misplaced Faith, I’m talking to an NPC female Charr named Emer. It is voice acted.

I say her lines. She then says my lines and threatens herself. She then answers her own threat to herself.

How did this ever get past Anet? It was voice acted wrong. They actually let the voice actors read the wrong lines, and no one noticed? Then implemented it? Then released it? Then 6 months later still have it?

Other issues in the Charr Story. The Warband members that are recruited do not show up. Or the wrong ones show up. This happened in my Ash Legion story and my Iron Legion story. I’m betting my Blood Legion story will be no different.

In the story part where I pick my Order (Whispers, Vigil, or Priory), my warband is there, along with Cimmara Pistolwhip from the Iron Legion side of the story. I’m Ash Legion. She is standing inside Wroda the Quick.

Wroda the Quick is Ash Legion but keeps saying “For Blood!” every time I see her. WTF.

The Home Instance has my Warband Recruits. When I go to talk to them, they say things to me like “What are you looking at? Want to fight? What’s your problem?” and other lines as if they don’t know me and disrespect me. But then when going back into a story (if they show up) their voice acting is back to knowing me and respecting me as their leader and the Charr that saved their lives. But click on them, and they have the same negative challenging disrespectful dialogue again (that random NPCs have).

Wasn’t the Home supposed to show us how we affected the world and how NPCs would react to our heroism by acknowledging us? Over-hype abounded. Failure happened.

It is messy. It is amateurish. And there is more wrong than listed.

Just because the story can advance, I suspect these quality of life issues of the story will be unaddressed. The story of GW2 was a main selling point, but it is buggy and a highlight of rushed content. It reminds me of the broken cinemas from GW1.

Edited my support ticket.. maybe I’ll get a refund too. Hope so, maybe it will work with the Glowcolor tab open as some said….

Just in case: my ticketnumber is Incident: 130129-000877

The way it works.

You get a broken item that costs you real money.

Support does nothing for you. They hope you go away and they hope to steal your money. Support wants you to be quiet sheep.

You report again that you bought something and got nothing, and demand (respectfully) a return.

They give you back gems, or they don’t. Support treats the same problem differently for different players. Some get ‘lucky’ and get what they bought, and others just lose.

Hope that helps.

Globs of Ectoplasm

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Hsinimod.5784

There is this other game out there people probably don’t know. Usually called WoW for short. It is said to be ‘grindy’.

In that WoW game, when you ‘salvage’ a certain rarity of items, you get something 100% of the time. Not less. The thing people argue about in that game is whether they get just 1, or more from the ‘salvage’.

In GW2, you get nothing. Often. You take a gamble and get rewarded with a poor RNG that favors spending money on the gem store to buy gold. It is designed to make customers into ‘whales’ and then to harpoon those whales for all the blubber they are worth.

Can’t collect enough of needed mats for Orange gear or weapons at the abysmal rate of getting ectos and I refuse to buy them off the TP. Too many mats on the TP are ridiculously over priced as it is, while others (which I cannot use for what I want) are at least reasonably priced.

Does not appear I will ever get sufficient materials for crafting my Orange gear/weapons, let alone try to gain sufficient mats for a legendary.

You are aware that you can get exotic armor/weapons from dungeons and for WvW tokens and for karma as well?

You are aware those sets do not have many of the stat combinations that people want? Only way is to craft…

Instant death, no downed state

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

It is a known bug. Or known by my guild of 400 at least. Anet might be… ignoring it.

Happens sometimes. You’ll notice it happen a lot in harder content areas, like Orr before the thinning of the mobs. You have no death penalty, and this is your first time going down, but instead you are straight defeated.

Also, unrelated, is the short fall of only 2-10 feet that causes instant death as well. You literally fall off a distance half your height, and if that is the health loss that brings you to downed, you are simply defeated. Bad design.

Ground targeting sometimes doesn't work

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

What ever happened to reading comprehension? The poster said “happens sometimes”. They described the circumstances.

Obviously, that means they are not using Fast Cast Ground Targeting. It also is highly unlikely they are double-mashing, because then they would miss their Swiftness buff but it would not be centered on an enemy. It would just be off to the side before they swung their cursor in place.

I suspect all these bugs that have existed for a year now (and 6 months after release) are because Anet is ignoring the reports and assuming the player did something other than described.

I use Fast Cast all the time, so never noticed if not having it on causes bugs. I’ll test it out by turning it off and seeing if Necromancer gets the same issue. Or, I’ll test out on my Guardian for you if Necro ends up clean.

I hate when Fast Cast is turned off because my Engineer would bug out 100% of the time with Grenade Kit. Instead of casting after seeing the green circle, it would toggle off. Basically, you double tap to cast, but instead nothing happens, so you waste time mashing over and over until it finally stops toggling and goes off. It just refuses to cast if you are too fast. Never figured it out, besides “I’m casting faster than the game can understand”.

The “invisible cursor” bug is annoying. No clue why it still exists.

Personal Story Bugs

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

I’ve mostly left my personal stories untouched, because of how buggy they were. They just remind me of the corny GW1 cutscenes. Remember when your Character would be talking to a friendly NPC while your minions/henchmen/heroes are fighting that very NPC? Or you are being attacked throughout the scene by mobs, but acting like nothing is happening? Or you are a female/male character who is suddenly a different sex? It was so ridiculous.

GW2 is better, but not by much. It seems nothing was tested or player feedback not listened to.

In the Charr personal story, we recruit new warband members. They often never show up in the next missions. This is a bug, an old one, and still exists today. Missing NPCs.

In some personal stories, the dialogue/voice acting is messed up and the NPC says our lines, or we say the NPC’s lines. Misplaced Faith is one, where your character says Emer’s line, then Emer says your line threatening herself. She then responds to her own threat and answers… it is ludicrous.

Maybe I’m over-simplifying how ‘easy’ it is to simply patch wrong dialogue and place the correct voice actors in. Or make NPCs show up. But I would think 6 months would be enough.

Lastly, NPCs respond with incorrect attitudes. For instance, an NPC may honor you in the personal story with praise, but then when you manually interact with them, they give you generic dialogue like “you want to fight?”. They just honored you, and now they are acting like you are a stranger that kitten them off.

In the Charr personal story, your own Warband recruits respond like they never met you. They disrespect you. But when the story triggers them to talk, they suddenly are your loyal members again. Their voices even change.

Would be nice to have the details thought out and kept constant. Not looking like someone said “this is good enough, who cares, just release it like this”.

Engineer Downed Skills cause no damage

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

I’m not sure how or why it happens, but it is often enough that I notice. I’ll be fighting mobs and killing them, but get downed in the process. I target the nearest mob with a sliver of low health and expect to rally after hitting it 1-3 times. Instead, I [Throw Junk] and nothing happens. No damage. No conditions applied. Nothing.

I use my grapple to attack, and again nothing happens. Even if the mob has stability, I expect the damage component to go off. It does not. Nothing.

The only thing I know is that it happens when fighting multiple mobs, but that is most likely a coincidence, since you only get downed when multiple mobs are on you. The other thing may be when 1 mob in the group has stability. It seems to glitch all the Engineer skills, so the skills don’t just lose their movement aspect (as they should) but lose their damage aspect as well (which they shouldn’t).

Can’t figure out what more is wrong here. Or if it affects other professions. But it happens.

What other prof has the variety of an Eng?

in Engineer

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

The closest professions to Engineer in terms of utility are the Guardian and Elementalist, with Necromancer being a distance second.

Elementalist is too soft (even if built to counter that weakness). After playing an Engineer, you’ll love the Elementalist’s fluid skills and synergy, but will notice it takes big damage. Ele is just pure fun after Eng.

Guardian is spot on. Everything you can do on your Engineer, you can do on your Guardian better. Except range. But really, you won’t care. You’ll be too busy counting your blessings on how awesome the Guardian is. Engineer is so disappointing that we learn how to work around all its problems. This prepares us for the Guardian’s lack of range. It’s cake to us.

Necromancer is not at first sight a utility class, but it has all the skills needed to work with. I’m not talking out of experience, but my roommate is always pulling tricks out and keeping me alive. Tanking, repeated condition removal, and small heals…. just seems it is all there and ready when needed.

Mesmer is in the same basket, but the cooldowns and soft defense take it out of the running in my opinion. They have a different utility to give to a group (basically movement), shining in WvW, but not the utility of soaking up damage, or aoe, or healing, or etc etc etc.

Engineer - need lubbins <3

Hsinimod.5784

Engineer feels like the damage modifiers are all off whack. I never question my utility. I question my damage.

I hit them for 300-500. They hit me for 2k. I hit them for 2k, they hit me for 6k. kitten for tat, something is quite wrong here.

I tried making the most glassy cannon build I could, but all it did was let me hit for less than all others while allowing me to die much more. ArenaNet nailed our glass qualites, but forgot to add any cannon.

The only builds that seem to have any ‘balance’ (and I use that loosely) are our defensive builds. I do notice a difference then, but not by much. An enemy glass cannon should suffer the trade off of their low defense, but I can’t do anything to them but live. And once everything is on cooldown, I can’t even live.

My theory is this: Beta Engineers had superior defense—to the point they were near unkillable. Beta Engineers never had much in damage though, as a tradeoff for that defense. Then, during beta, that defense was nerfed hardcore to match everyone else. Our damage was never adjusted.

Overgrown Grub not attacking back

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

The bug is repeatable.

Stand at max distance and range him. He won’t aggro until you are closer, or another joins in and gets too close.

You can solo kill him if you fight the whole time at range. But it can reset if you get too far away, stop attacking, or anything. Reset makes you start all over.

If you have an entire group, and everyone stays at range, grub does nothing. But any pets will ruin it.

It is more of a challenge trying to kill it with not aggroing it. lol. Kinda fun too.

December 3 Patch Issues

Your tournament or fixing possible game-breaking exploits?

Public Test servers and actual quality control would prevent ArenaNet from designing so many exploits that they then need to patch up.

I hear rumors that ANet has them, they just don’t pay attention.

At this point I have no hope that ANet will actually produce a patch that doesn’t introduce terrible game-breaking bugs. I just hope they make a patch-rollback system next.

What Anet has is private and smallscale. It’s why everything is missed (obvious bugs). Because there are not enough testers to make sure all content is working with regular population levels.

Public ones mean everyone signs up and floods a test server. First come, first serve. When full, people can’t get in, just like our normal servers now. That server and character progress is throw-away (like beta). It only exists to test new patches. Why would we players bother? One is we like helping. It is just plain sincerity. Two is we have an incentive to see sneak peaks and plan how we will do it with our main characters.

It works on other games, making patches with zero bugs.

I expected bugs at release and a while for them to close. I did not expect new bugs released with every new patch or piece of content. I’m not used to such low quality. I can understand it, and rationalize “oh, GW2 is still new, and it will be fixed”…. but I can only chant that so many times….

As Darkseal above mentioned, there could be ways to stop people from using the Tourny NPC, or entering Dungeons, while waiting a short period for them to complete. And a note in-game that a patch is coming would allow people to prepare.

There is so much wrong.

The Ice Wall in the frozen fractal wouldn’t melt.
The colossus frac boss wouldn’t spawn the mobs to charge the hammer.
Jumping is broken.
The first fractal of the night kicked our party back to the ‘waiting room’ area with the Asura and didn’t send us to the next.

New Phantasm Problem with 12/3/12 Patch

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

The patch was intended to break the game I’m thinking. Everything everywhere is going wrong. It is hard to tell if ArenaNet simply broke that much content? Or is all that broken content being caused by one bug?

Our Mesmer in the Fractals fell to the bottom of the frac and was stuck. They used /stuck and ended up in another frac, then we all suicided to have the Mes rejoin us at our checkpoint. Then our “mission” in the top right corner was for the other frac that the Mes got kicked into! And the last boss (Colossus Frac) glitched out and no adds spawned to kill the last Seal. We suicided again. We killed the boss and the frac kicked us all back to the Asura area. It was our first frac of the night, so we should have had 2 more (odd number lvl), but instead got kicked out. Boy, what a night.

This was all while the Mes kept saying how their skills were not working right. They were complaining that their clone/illusions weren’t working right, but didn’t specify how so.

  • Flamethrower’s Flame Jet will often miss targets and destructible objects (when the player and its target are at even slightly different elevations). It also appears to be affected by camera angle.

This bug is still happening. If you have the options set so you don’t auto-target nearest enemy, and you don’t have a target selected (like when you want to hit a group and want to be able to fan the flames), then the flames will not hit anything.

This is due to the camera angle forcing the flames to go down into the ground, even though the graphic appears to shoot straight as normal. The only ‘fix’ for this until patched is to lower the camera angle to be staring at your characters back and obstruct your view of vision.

This bug, when fixed, will still have another bug—not being able to ‘see’ where the flames are truly going. The flames travel straight out at all times, no matter if you aim up or down. When on a hill or wall, you can hit things below you if they are in range, but can’t tell since the flames are looking like they are perpendicular to the ground at all times.

I suggest a fix of making the flames into a cone. The graphic would show the cone, and that cone would shoot the flames straight out, up, down, to the sides, etc. Something like a 160 degree cone in front of the Engineer. If that would be ‘easier’ than fixing the flames to shoot at the correct angle.

Now I’m not denying the class has some issues, mainly to do with kit weapon damage and sigils, but it’s surely one of the better done and more versatile classes in the game in my view.

^ This.

All my other toons hit so much harder (in pvp). But my Engineer is ‘meh’.

PvE is never an issue. Mobs run up, bunch together, stand still, and let us unload all our utility on them. It’s great! (have ranged mob? Just LOS)

PvP is ok, because fighting on the point results in a similar situation. Our utility shows. But the other professions have the same utility. We are great at support, but DPS? Not in my opinion. We just hit so much weaker. We need to have certain cookie cutter builds to purposely negate the burst specs, while we do no damage to them. Or, we go more offensive and go toe-to-toe, yet frankly if we kill anything, I assume the other player is ‘bad’, a complete glass cannon, or had everything on cooldown.

We tank well. The other side of the coin? No so much. In this rock, paper, scissors game, many are rock, few are paper, and we are scissors.

EDIT: The best way to put it, I have more even matches on my other professions. I win and feel I deserved the win. I lose, I made a mistake.

My Engineer feels like I lose, because I was just plainly weak. I win, because the other player was not using their skills fully (like when fight and you think "why are they not hitting me with XXX? I get that A LOT when playing Engineer)

With 22 years and change being retired military, 3 wars, 4 years of combat, travel to and support of over 25 countries that i can remember offhand during that time. I have accumulated alot of wisdom and imagination because of my experiences, what developer among Anet has the imagination, common sense, creativity, personel management skills or leadership that comes with that type of life experience? Without even looking at a resume i doubt any Anet employee has. That also isnt a callout, its a fact.

I already disagreed with the majority of your post. But this part right here conveys the exact opposite of the message you’re trying to deliver.

You should send me an in-game message if you want to talk about what you’re doing wrong.

I was following along until the military experience part. That is when I disagreed.

Frankly, I view myself as worldly because I’m a science nerd and a gamer. Science is in everything, everywhere. Lots of ideas come from that—oceans to outer-space, past to future. And gaming, well that is just pure fantasy and creativity right there.

My military experience is dead last in what I would consider an asset to creativity. It was… fairly straightforward. Not much thinking involved. I don’t view my experiences with creative ways at packing conex boxes as an asset in game design. Or jerry-rigging broken things to work correctly by using other broken parts. I give that credit to Macgyver. Or my past knowledge before service.

Sounds a bit elitist to assume that traveling the world and being in a warzone gives some sort of insight that others lack. One, journalists and archeologists (yes, they are in Iraq trying to preserve the Mesopotamian stuff from being bomb food) are in the danger zone as well. I think Showtime is doing a series about journalists in the field, and it is a bit morbid when you know these people recently died after filming. Two, ArenaNet is bound to have veterans. Veterans are everywhere. We make up a little over 10% of the population.

But otherwise, yes I agree, the Engineer needs a bit of lovin. Not the “scrap it and start again” type lovin. But the gentle loving of nursing a delicate thing into something or other. (like flowers, or women, or some usual cliche and gag-worthy saying)

Or, just make my boomstick better. I’m tired of seeing only the cookie cutter builds fall short of the DPS other professions can do, and any of our other kits just never even bust through a wet paper bag…

You can make a lot of money by playing the Trade Post.

And by ‘playing’ I mean sitting at the TP all day. Soon as something sells, drop everything, pick up your money, and place it back in the TP. Live off the TP.

Then you can watch your gold climb. It is boring. It isn’t fun. And you feel like the game is pointless.

Grinding is ok when it just comes as you do various content. But we can’t do various content. The entire map of Tyria is empty except Orr, because you need to be there to get the required materials.

Would be much better if all zones in the world dropped tier 6 items if you are lvl 80, and all nodes have a chance to give Orichalcum and such. People can play anywhere and everywhere. Orr would be the most efficient, but the rest of Tyria would be open for ‘fun’.

It is bad design. Simple as that. Many of the legendaries are not even noticeable. We were told “we would know them when we see them.” I say, ‘meh’.

Guild Wars 2 - Nice Community?

We did AC explore at lvl 40-ish. Went fine.

Those that want only lvl 80’s tend to be, frankly, bad players. They rely on having max stats and damage and survivability, because they are poor at avoiding damage or doing the right actions. They want their peers to be the same, so their peers can survive longer when having to carry more weight.

I never say “80 only”. I get a group and go. Quite often, the loudest one screaming is the poorest player. Instead of playing, they are typing IN ALL CAPS YADA YADA !!!!!

It is annoying.

Speed clears are the worst, and a joke. They are not doing anything faster by shaving off 5-10 min. And they really show they are poor players when they glitch past content, the bug gets patched, and they now need to complete the dungeon legit, and can’t.

I notice Guardians seem to be the most guilty and immature. I think it is because that type of player is attracted to all the blocks the guardian can rely on, so they just don’t bother to play very well. So they add poorly to the group, and if they need to step it up for the group, they get prissy.

Not saying Guardians are bad lol. Just that I most find that attitude of player is on a Guardian.

I typically will back up the underdog. I’d rather have a low level slow player that just needs to learn the dungeon than one trying to race through and min/max everything.

Also, gw2lfg.com is a nice site for finding players. You can leave a note, “no elitist or immature personalities”.

New Content, Missing Content, And Bug Fixes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

What is the status with the missing content? Such as the cities’ mini-games. We only have Keg Brawl. I just assumed it wouldn’t take 3 months to release.

And the Home Instance. It is missing a lot of the features that were hyped about by ArenaNet in interviews. I’m unclear if the Home is still being added to, in order to reflect our Personal Stories from lvl 1-80, or what we have is it. I saw they “want to do more”, but assume that is in regards to future content, and not to make the lvl 1-80 experience reflect in our Home.

Is there any interviews or news or posts that address this? And I mean with some specifics, and not the vague broad comments that don’t really narrow down anything.

I’m also worried about the amount of bugs that exist while new bugged content is introduced on top of it. If there has ever been mention toward that, quality control, or test servers.

WvW Vista no immunity?

Why is it pointless? It seems to me that the whole idea of open world PvP is that you are always vulnerable.

It is pointless to add content to a PvP zone that makes you a frozen target. If they were going to have PvE Vistas make us immune, the mechanic shouldn’t be different in WvW. If they wanted us to be vulnerable, Vistas should never have been added to WvW.

My HoM PVP fiery dragon sword is missing

Fiery Dragon Sword (PvP) is missing from my HoM. It has never shown up. Never is available. Always is missing.

Earlier (months ago), Centurians Claw (PvP) was missing. But it showed up within the same period of time (months ago).

Are we ever going to get our HoM rewards? I know no one who has the PvP Fiery sword working, yet searching does not bring up the past bug report thread (from months ago). Tried “missing HoM”, “missing fiery dragon sword”, “missing fiery”, etc.

EDIT: Found the link.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/My-HoM-PVP-fiery-dragon-sword-is-missing/first#post891931
It will not come up in the forum search using keywords of the title. Found it by “fiery” alone. Any more keywords results in “zero results found”.

This is the post I made. I deleted my new thread (fear of infractions if someone thought I was being “smart”). But here is the content of my message.

Oddly, this thread is hard to find in the “search” function. Keywords “fiery, dragon, pvp” don’t bring it up.

I found it by luck by only searching with “fiery”.

Same issue. Same amount of time having issue (months).

Too much Healing?

in Engineer

Posted by: Hsinimod.5784

Hsinimod.5784

Most of people are better at dodging heals/boons than their enemies -.-

^ This.

I have usually around 500 in healing. 300 from Inventions trait line and ~200 or so just on some balanced stat sets I use (for when I’m making odd builds that don’t have great synergy and require odd stat combinations).

I’m always last to die (if I even do). I can easily keep myself alive alone while my group is having to run back from some Waypoint. My heals are strong enough to keep them going, but they seem to never notice the med kits floating in air or giant mist circles on the ground that heal them lol. All they have to do is run over it.

A lot of dungeon content is designed to take out self-sufficient players if no one bothers to do any support/control. Usually, it just works out that your team is doing support/control for themself and it ends up helping the group.

If they actually have the mindset to use their skills for allies, that is just all that more efficient.

In encounters that spawn tons of adds or lots of AoE all over the floor, our healing can keep everyone alive. In those cases, I stop all DPS (I would have to anyway even just keeping me alive) and spam the healing everywhere. This allows them to use my heals and save their heals longer (or stagger them better). They can continue to DPS or what not, and have their heal ready more often when the next wave happens (which is usually the part that kills people, since they used up all their self-sufficient tricks and still were on cooldown).

I find 1-2 players supporting a bit more during those times is better than 5 players just running around like chickens waiting for an opening to resume attacking and cooldowns to end.

Besides, I love using the Elixir Gun #4 ability on a Boss. They stand on it taking all the ticks of damage. Wonderful. Support just happens to be my favorite DPS build as well.

Make tool kit useful!

Replace Box of Nails with ANYTHING (Maybe a robot that will activate, follow a target and explode when the target comes within a certain distance.)

Replace Smack, Whack, and Thwack with Throw Wrench, and replace Throw Wrench with some other toolbelt ability.

Or something like this.

lol. I love that.

We were talking in my guild chat about making the Tool Kit completely different, and robots were one of the made-up dream skills that we added. Even posted the idea somewhere in these here Engineer forums in a long thread full of Engineer wishlists that will never come true. Many pages of many ideas.

I notice in this thread, many of us have a common theme with the skills feeling off in their timing. Different opinions on which skills and what to do to fix it…. but with so many comments being how things seem to take too long, I would view that as a red flag with what is wrong with the function.

It works. But it could work better.

Make tool kit useful!

in Engineer

Hsinimod.5784

Toolkit is clunky slow.

Its #1 attack is a slow chain, low damage until the third hit. Compare our melee kit to the fast chaining of other melee. We have the crap end of the deal. (Although, Vulnerability is the tradeoff of why the first two attacks in the chain are low, I still think the damage is very low—too low)

We have a small wrench yet we are swinging it like it is a heavy 2-handed hammer.

I’d be happy with it if I had never played another profession. Tool Kit is certainly useful, but it just is ‘meh’ when it could be more.

Many of our Kit abilities have activation times. All professions have this. But Engineer has a lot of timing issues where things just feel… unresponsive. We are used to it, but I don’t find that an acceptable reason to leave it as is. Being the one of the least played professions and last profession to make it (almost didn’t according to the official collector’s book), I bet ArenaNet just has it low on the priority list to fine tune.

Look how quickly the Guardian was tuned. And how played it is. Could be coincidence.

But I think many of our Kit complaints would disappear if they felt more responsive and less “press and wait”.

I’m not butthurt. I made this thread so that you guys would all fuss and it would get the attention of arenanet and they would look at my suggestion of having a siege safe zone. As someone put in this thread shooting fish in a barrel is not competitive PVP. Spamming the arena entrance with a ballista and an arrowcart doesn’t take skill.

Also I’m all for trolling in the JP just not for siege in the JP. By all means have players able to duke it out and push people off, that is fun.

But when it comes to the point of

how did u like not havng access to the chest for 7 hours i sure enjoyed it

because someone set up siege it just means that if someone is dedicated enough they could camp the whole thing for a year without dying. Perhaps botters want to set up siege and farm badges. Its quite possible.

As for your video, it is well done and contains little to no siege(except golem)because people don’t want to watch someone shooting a ballista all day.

We prevented people from getting badges and blueprints that could potentially be used against our server. We did a service.

What you didn’t prevent was your server getting wiped off the map in EBG.

Always funny when people from losing servers justify puzzle camping with “we are denying siege”. It’s your freedom to have fun in your own way at the expense of your server, but it’s everyone’s freedom to openly laugh at you when you try to make a thing out of it

Hmmm… centralized pvp that requires actually using skill to fight where you can potentially have an equal playing field, or, zerging towers to lose them 10 minutes later and getting killed by invisible players due to rendering.

Regardless of siege or not, EB puzzle still has the best pvp in the game.

Tough choice.

lol. You are saying there is balanced skilled fighting to be had inside the jump puzzle? Oh boy, that is some strong denial.

You’re doing it at off-peak hours. There is no skill involved. It is 10-20 [ct] members jumping 1 solo player from FA or TC.

FA and TC can hold the map AND jump puzzle during peak hours. And they actually need to fight over it and use skill.

As far as I’ve seen, [ct] shows up when it is easy. That’s smart. Avoid all fighting in pvp. Just, not my taste to do pvp without p v p.
