I think the logic behind it is if they keep us from accumulating in game wealth we will have to spend real money in the gem store instead of just trading gold.
That’s my belief too.
I’m pretty sure that Anet is attempting to discourage farming because they want us to buy our gold with gems. All these nerfs of farming areas has convinced me of that.
All that’s going to do is make players look elsewhere for another MMO that dos’nt force them to use real $$$$ to get what one can obtain by farming in any other MMO.
I agree so annoying when you end up running around picking up bags. I’ve stopped running back for some bags now, getting too tedious.
That’s assuming that you’re still alive and able to run back for them.
I would personally love to see:
Anti Adrenaline Trap- Drains a Warrior’s adrenaline and Warrior cannot obtain any more adrenaline for 30 seconds and all attack and action speed will be decreased by 33% this debuff will be called “Fatigue”.
Anti Attunement trap- Forces an Elementalist to stay in current attunement and puts all other attunements on CD for 30 seconds.
Anti Pet trap- Completely stuns pet for 30 seconds. All pet commands will be on CD for 30 seconds.
Anti Life Force Trap- Drains Life Force from necromancers and necromancers cannot gain life force for 30 seconds, this debuff will be called “Syphon Filter”
Anti Virtues Trap- Eliminates a Guardian’s virtues passive buffs and puts them on 30 second CD and strips all boons. Guardians cannot gain aegis for 30 seconds, this debuff will be called “Scarred”.
Anti Illusion Trap- Puts a 30 Second CD on all mesmer shatter skills and mesmers cannot create any phantasms or clones for 30 seconds, this debuff will be called “Optical Diffusion”
Anti Toolbelt Trap- Puts all toolbet skills of an Engineer on CD for 30 seconds. Engineer cannot switch kits or use any gadgets for 30 seconds, this debuff will be called “Technical Difficulties”.
Oh, and of course you can’t leave out the Anti Stealth Trap! – Thief cannot stealth for 30 seconds, this debuff will be called “Revealed”
Wait a minute…
Don’t give the devs any ideas, they might actually look into doing stuff like this.
Would you buy the next expansion? Why or why not.
If the content that we’ve been getting for the last few months is any indicator of what we can expect from a expansion my answer is no.
(1) Skill lag.
(2) Skill lag.
(3) Skill lag.
(4) Skill lag.
(5) Skill lag.
Did I leave out anything?
Despite not showing up in the transmute window slotted gems do carry over. You can freely transmute the skins to get different stats without worry. I’ve done it myself.
Thank you! I’ll try it out. crosses fingers
Did you use a Fine Transmutation Stone or a regular one? You will need a blue (Fine) one in order to transmute skins on level 80 items.
I did that and got no changeover for the Exqusite Ruby jewel.
I don’t like the stats on either one and when I try to transmute the gem I have on my Soldier’s spineguard is NOT available to transfer. Let us transmute these suckers completely! And I’m not going to waste Laurels on a DEFENSIVE infusion that’s weaker than the Exquisite Ruby Jewel that I have slotted.
For crying out loud, if you’re going to give us a reward for this event at least make it USEFUL!
I have a Warrior and Ranger, both level 80 and they’re both good classes. To me the Ranger is the better of the 2 for PvP, the Warrior better in PvE and dungeons and both are pretty equal in WvW. The Warrior has better survivability than my berserker Ranger but the Ranger is more mobile if you’re using ranged weaps, like I do. (Longbow, Shortbow and sometimes Axe/Warhorn in place of the Shortbow.)
I mainly use Axe/Warhorn and Rifle on my Warrior though sometimes I switch from Rifle to Axe/Mace. Both combos work pretty well for me. I slot a Rifle a lot because many boss mobs are almost impossible to melee without the meleer getting quickly demolished. BTW, Warriors cant use the Shortbow, only the Longbow and Rifle for ranged weaps.
I like both classes equally well. Suggestion; Try them both out at least to level 15. By then you’ll know if you like the class or not and you wont have expended a lot of time on it. Good hunting and have fun!
i just bought GW2 today and after 1 h of playing the server gets down? lol
AHA! Now we know who done it!
There ya go! Bring back Lionguard Lyns to gather donations for mounting it somewhere in LA.

At this point, Southsun’s better than Cursed Shore. At least at Southsun we don’t have unkillable Champion Risen Wraiths spawning at open world events, Champ Risen Chickens 2 shotting us with nuclear eggs, and swarms of Veteren Hatchings killing us in seconds though the ‘lil crabs grabbing one’s face for 30 seconds without being able to do anything about it is majorly annoying.
Don’t get too used to it folks. As soon as we get to liking it Anet will FUBAR it like they did with Cursed Shores.
I don’t spend gems on anything except Fine Transmutation Stones anymore. Anytime I see something in the gem shop that gives you “a chance” (which is probably .05% if that high) to get something nifty I pass.
I hope not since this game’s been out for less than a year. What Anet should be focusing on is fixing the problems that this game has been plagued with since day one.
Adding a expansion at this time would be like adding a extra room onto a termite infested house.
It happens when you click on something to drag your camera, and I’m not sure if it’s really a bug or just extremely myopic design. Unfortunately it’s been pointed out many, many times and is still as present and annoying as ever.
There really needs to be a toggle for target selection on left and right click. It’s hideous trying to manage the camera when you have to consciously avoid selectable objects with your bloody view controls. Not to mention that when the screen is so full of effects you can’t see the cursor, and there are so many selectables you couldn’t avoid them anyway, you’re basically just screwed. Keeping to a single target becomes nigh impossible. Even keeping to an enemy target can be problematic.
…and it would easily have been prevented with two check boxes.
One thing that would help on that would be to have a option to lock the camera view behind your char, so that your view is looking the same way as your char is looking. I’ve had the same thing happen. You’re trying to move the view around to see what you’re char is attacking and you end up targeting something else.
I ‘steer’ exclusively with right click, and even in doing so it’ll still happen. Are you suggesting the mouse not turn anything at all? or like permanently holding right click, so your mouse always steers you? I suppose in theory anything that stopped you clicking in the first place would do it, but I’d find either of those pretty annoying compared to just being able to tell the game ‘<- this button over here selects stuff and turns the camera independently, this button over here turns the camera and steers you if moving, it doesn’t select anything, ever ->’ or vice versa.
No, I’m suggesting that the camera view be locked to the char’s view, but that the camera rotation for looking around be unchanged except that one’s view would snap back to the direction the char is facing when you finish looking around. WoW had this option for a long time but for who knows what reason they did away with it, which was IMHO, stupid as hell.
Other MMOs I’ve played have had this option too and it dos’nt seem like it’d be hard to implement. It sure beats having to manually turn the camera view to match your char’s view, which can be a PITA when you’re in combat because you have enough to deal with without having to re-align your view as well.

There’s a very easy solution to this; Don’t fight a Ranger underwater!
I’ve been running with Axe/Warhorn for a long time now and it is sweet. I always have that combo slotted with whatever else I might use in the other slot but Axe/Warhorn is a must to me.
I would expect that when they finally do some to WvW they will require an absurd amount of badges,
I don’t doubt that. And the “badges” or whatever will rarely drop.
Arenanet is going to nerf/restrict this game into the ground. It’s like they don’t want people sending mail at all.
It’s like they don’t want us to do anything except buy their junk at the gem store.
Hell, I’ve been suppressed in /say from saying “TY” to players who’ve ressed me because of “excessive messaging”.
where is everybody?
Well I don`t know, but they are not in Orr!
Not surprising. Who likes to get massacred by swarms of Veteren Hatchlings, quickly wasted by Champion Risen Wraiths, or one-shotted by Champion Risen Chickens at events like Pent/Shelt?
I agree with the OP on this. IMHO, the main issue is the ducking back into stealth frequently while in combat. No class should have that ability! Stealthers already have a major advantage in being able to initiate combat, usually with a starter move that’s a doozy, that’s more than enough.
I would love to see a MMO that dos’nt have any friggin’ ninjas, they’re always overpowered.

See this is what I mean. GW2 players dont even feel that the camera is gliding around becuase they have never felt a responsive camera… Really compare the GW2 camera with WoW and you know what I mean.
I played WoW for 5 years and I have no idea what you are talking about. The only problem I have with the GW2 camera is I can’t zoom out far enough.
The only problem I have with the GW2 camera is not being able to lock the view to where it’s always facing the same way that my char is facing.
Please Anet, tell me when Nuclear Explosives will be available to kill the entire map!
They’re already here, known as arrow carts.
A Champion Risen Wraith spawned at the Shelter’s Gate event on Blackgate earlier today and wiped out at least a dozen players in a very short time.
Anet, if you’re trying to convince people NOT to play GW2, you’re going about it the right way. Hell, even Electronic Arts dos’nt FUBAR as badly as y’all did on the 30 April patch.
(edited by Huck.1405)
Introducing Traps in World vs. World
Traps are fiendish items that can be purchased from the new Traps and Tricks Outfitters on each WvW map. We’re starting with anti-stealth fields and traps that remove supply from enemy players, but in the months ahead we’ll introduce even more ways to spread mayhem in the Mists!
I reckon that y’all spread enough mayhem with the arrowcart disaster. Did you folks test these traps out or are we, the players, going to be doing that like with the arrowcarts?
IMHO, a level 80 cap at game start is too high. I almost didn’t try GW2 out when I saw that and 2 of my nephews and some of my friends wont even consider trying it out for that reason. So if this game’s level cap is upped to 100 that’s likely going to scare away more new players.
Dark age of Camelot did just fine for years (at least until Electronic Arts acquired it) without ever raising the level cap above 50. If the devs at Mythic could introduce new interesting content without raising the level cap why cant anyone else?
Those “new” implementations from Anet are really not fun at all. I totally lost my faith in this dev in this patch.
I’ve lost faith in the devs too. They obviously don’t play the game or test anything.
And here is why we need a public test server to test stuff out with the community. You guys always seem to put stuff out that is very weird and questionable in every patch and most of the time revert it back.
+1000
Want to avoid this mess ANet? Give us some public test servers for kitten’s sake!
Or at least play your own game so that you’ll know what’s really going on in it.
They are against farming…
They are also pro you buying gems with real $$$…
Its a marriage made in heaven…
IMHO, that pretty well sums it up. Anet dos’nt want us to farm gold, they want us to BUY gold, from them.
If the 30 April patch is a indicator of what to expect, I don’t want to know.
Drop rate about bag still good but mobs….. like hell.
Veteran/ Champ chicken throw…. wait… eggs 4 > > 7 > 13k dmg. Wthek chicken ?
Spider spawn a toon of VETERAN hatching.
It must fix soon !
Events are supposed to be fun. Getting creamed by swarms of Veteren HATCHLINGS is friggin ridiculous and far from being fun. If you folks at Anet did this to discourage people from karma and gold farming at Pent/Shelt, shame on you! Do you want us to only BUY gold with gems? And only gain karma on the dailies?
Return it to how it was pre-4/30 patch and save the hard stuff for the dungeons.
For a game that was suppose to have an emphasis on vanity, we’ve gotten very little new vanity items to strive for outside of the gem shop stuff (which has been primarily town clothes).
Stuff like this is what leads me to believe that no one at Anet plays the game because if they did they’d see how rarely players use town clothes. Armor however….
Stop trying to ruin other people’s fun because you happen to not like it. Essentially, this thread can be summed up as a thinly veiled QQ post with lots of words.
Well, it’s not fun for other classes to get systematicly killed by a class that can pop in and out of stealth at will while in combat and is dam near impossible to kill as a result.
Thanks Dan, I just found it. Dot mind me, I’m blind in one eye and cant see out of the other one!
Thanks Wildblood, but I don’t see any icon there.
Update: she’s talking about the Hatchery, which I’ve already done, twice. And of her being a Gladium.
5/10. The reason? Anet made open world events a PITA to do since they added super Veterens that more Champions, like in the vent events in Wayfairer and Diessa. These new super vets can 2 shot you faster than you can say “oh kitten!” And they’re dam all hard to kill. Plus, in the Cursed Shore events there’s now Veteren HATCHLINGS! Now I agree that events shouldn’t be easy, but when 7 players get wiped in only a few seconds by these super Vets that’s bull. I’ve paid more in repair costs just today in these events than I did in the 2 weeks before this patch.
Hard content is what the dungeons are for, we shouldn’t have to be in a huge group just to do open world events!
I’ve talked to Rox in the command center 3 times now and have gotten nowhere. The star is still above her head and the event dos’nt go beyond that point. Is this bugged?
Age of Conan did the “stealth” ability right. (one of the few things they actually did right) It was stealth, not invisibility like every other game including GW2. One had to be in shadows or in cover, like brush, to be concealed and you could not sneak up on somebody in the open in broad daylight. It took SKILL to sneak up on a player in that game.
And I do not understand how Anet can allow stealthers to pop in and out of stealth while in combat! That gives the stealthier a major unfair advantage over his opponent, not to mention a “get out of being killed” button in PvP and WvW since they can just pop stealth and sneak away when the fight’s going bad for them.
I was just thinking about this, and you know, I hardly ever run a dungeon WITH a warrior. Almost never. Oh, ocassionally here and there, but they’re the real exception to the rule. And then I thought about it….
Why not make dungeon groups and exclude warriors from them. Just post something on gw2lfg.com that looks like this.
Want to run SE Path 1…warriors need not apply!
First it would be funny to see how they like it, particularly if lots of people start doing it, but more, it would give everyone else a chance to get in their dungeon runs, without kowtowing to the efficiency slaves.
I think it’s a good move.
It wouldn’t bother me. (my main is a Warrior who I’ve played since October) I wont group with anyone who says “no (insert class here)” or makes any other special requirement. When one is trying to fill a group you dang sure aint got room to be picky.
(edited by Huck.1405)
No constructive input, other than for the OP – trust me, you’ll drop the LB as soon as you try any wvwvw. If you can’t connect, your DPS is 0. (only way to hit with LB in wvwvw is the same as hitting with ele staff in wvwvw – you hope the opponent is AFK.)
Wait, what? Cant connect with a longbow in WvW? You obviously aint used a longbow with a Ranger in WvW if you believe that. A Longbow is my Ranger’s primary weap in WvW and I do very well with it as do other Rangers I know who use them. So don’t tell outright lies on here because you make it look as if longbows consistently miss the target and they don’t.
There are very definitely WvW changes in bound. The release notes will be worth reading.
All the changes in WvW aint worth doodly squat if WvW is virtually unplayable due to skill lag. How about fixing that?
Thanks Olba!
Where are y’all finding this info on the upcoming patch? Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place but I cant find it.
Is there something one must do to unlock Mistfire Wolf? On both my Ranger and Warrior it’s greyed out so I cant buy it with skill points.
