I just thought it was bugged, since I’ve never heard any audio at all when using it.
and why do they sometimes wander off and fight Dolyaks like 1000 feet away instead of attacking PC’s? It’s weird…
They always did that.
I think there are more focii than any other weapon in the game (or at least they’re way up there), btw.
But more diverse torch designs would be pretty nice.
1) Blighted Husks are associated with the Nightmare Court. They’re also associated with the corruption in the Jungle Worm meta-event, and with the dragons through their appearance in the Crucuble of Eternity.
For that matter, the Great Jungle Wurm chain happens almost literally on the doorstep of Twilight Arbor.
They hit equal-level characters plenty hard, I’ve been bouncing around Kessex with a mesmer in the late 20s and the destroyers especially can be pretty brutal.
And yet for some reason they thought we needed 15 different focii…
You’re probably missing waypoints that have been added by updates.
There are other stupid things like some weapons not using the proper skins like the shortbow in the hawkkeep it’s using the longbow skin but in pvp you can see it has it’s own smaller version wich looks much better same thing goes for the pirate shortbow.
The Vanguard trident isn’t using the proper skin in PVE either.
Actually, there’s several cases where underwater weapons are using the wrong skin, like the Beaded spear and harpoon gun.
I want a raptor. If the ogres and that one asura can have them as pets, we should too.
Generally, I make the glow the same general color as their hair. My elementalist is blue with an orange glow, my thief used to be red with a green glow but now is the other way around, and my warrior is white with a blue glow.
The statue of Dwayna hit me for 6,000 damage three times in a row, then 18,000 damage, all in the space of a few seconds.
That’s crazy
I encountered this on Maguuma, too.
Caledon has a dungeon too (and almost on top of where the wurm spawns, at that)
They should bring back the Barradin ghost statue from the Charr prologue. Have those three champion ghosts in his tomb spawn every hour or two, you kill them, you fight regular ghost Barradin, then he does the statue monster thing and you fight him again.
I want a shortbow that shoots ghost crows or owls instead of godkitten ponies.
If nothing else, Risen Nobles and a couple other Risen types need to be nerfed back to the way they were.
the skill point is actually in a cave underneath it, acessible from west of the waypoint.
A lot of weapons are strangely flat, including greatswords. Even Sunrise and Twilight have blades that are incredibly thin when seen edge-on for some reason.
I say bring back the voltaic spear from GW1.
I think it’s already in the game as an exotic spear.
The only real problem is the wurm, since it seems way more frail than the others and because you can hit it before it finishes spawning.
You can hit it with AoE spells… Not with normal attacks. And there’s the major problem. If you don’t have AoE spells (because you’re melee and your weapons need a target, remember, this is a low-level boss, people might not have all their secundary skills unlocked), you might as well not even try because you can’t get a hit in anyway.
Before they buffed it, you could just stand next to it and mash 1 and it would still do damage. I never had any trouble tagging the wurm that way.
0/10, would not be trolled again.
Lodestone drop rates need to be HIGHER, not lower.
Race: Charr
Gender: female
Profession: Engineer
The Hidden Pistols toolbelt skill animates wrong. As you can see, the pistols used during it are being held at a 90 degree angle for some reason (the actual skill still works properly).
They need to lower the drop rates, like they did for some other materials that were dropping too often in bags.
…that actually looks a lot cooler than the regular blue one.
The wubwub’s not even IN Tyria, it has no business counting for world completion, the same way dungeons and Heart of the Mists don’t.
And that the difficulty of mapping it varies wildly depending on which server you’re on, especially since you can’t freely transfer any more.
Arguably, it’d be seven nations. Kryta, Ascalon, Orr, Elona, Cantha, Kurzicks, and Luxons. The last two are vassals of Cantha though; and in GW2’s modern times, it’s down to Kryta, Elona (arguably), and Cantha (Kurzicks and Luxons being fully assimilated from vassals to being part of it fully – I guess that’d mean that Cantha is no longer an empire, since empires by definition is a conjoining of multiple nations under a single leadership, iirc).
iirc, Elona is three nations: Istan, Kourna, and Vabbi.
Though whether Elona even counts as a human nation is debatable, with that obnoxious mummy ruling the roost.
The only real problem is the wurm, since it seems way more frail than the others and because you can hit it before it finishes spawning.
Also, the Shatterer needs to be able to attack sideways, since almost all its attacks can currently be avoided by standing next to it (all the dragons were clearly intended to be fought head-on, but Tequatl can attack sideways and there’s no real way to attack the Claw from the sides).
There are tridents and spears that resembles staves that could indeed be used as staff skins.
The last thing we need is more overlap between trident and staff skins. Kraitkin would make a much better legendary staff than Bifrost ever did, though.
Torches need a lot of love, too, there’s barely any interesting ones at all.
Eternal Ice – Accessory – Frozen Maw
If you’re counting this, then the Shatterer and the Golem Mk II drop unique accessories as well (Breath of Kralkatorrik and something like Emblem of the Inquest, respectively). I’ve only ever gotten them as blues, but I think exotic versions drop sometimes as well.
There’s also a fire elemental in Iron Marches being summoned by a Flame Legion champion, by the way.
The wubwub shouldn’t count for world completion for the same reason the Mists and dungeons don’t, it’s not part of the actual world map.
I’ve used female #1 and #6
In addition, some of the buffed chests don’t scale loot to your level properly (Taidha Covington’s chest, for example).
Both the named and t2 cultural show off a good chunk of your torso.
This is absurd. No problems with overflows for events until guesting started. That is why these threads just popped up over the last few weeks.
You might be a point, if guesting hadn’t been added in January.
I don’t know exaclty how guesting works but couldnt there be a limit for how many time you can be a guest in the same day?
There already is one, and has been since it was introduced.
They should really give precursors for completing your personal story, ala the greens from GW1.
Seriously, boss guarding the gates of Arah is even wielding a legendary greatsword. Just say “we found these in Arah’s armory, we think a hero like you can unlock their full potential”, and you’re done.
This is new and wasn’t a problem on my server until guesting. So something is Rotten in Denmark.
Guesting has been in place for almost two months, so it’s definitely not to blame for something you’re just noticing now.
I’m going to point out again that there’s been a distinct decrease in population elsewhere in the world, namely Lion’s Arch (which used to be the overflow capital of the game).
It’s actually quite interesting to note that Lion’s Arch, which used to almost always kick you into an overflow, has been suspiciously free of them lately. Almost as if all the people who used to be there doing fractals and dungeons were off somewhere else in the game.
I love the people who just have it in their head the guesting has nothing to do with it. IT DOES…PERIOD! Might not be THE reason. But it has never been a problem before guesting and the new patches. The new loot from chests or whatever, coupled with guesting is the reason.
Get over yourselves and think for a change
Guesting had been implemented for a month with no issues, while everything’s gone to hell within a week of the chest buff causing people to hit world bosses like a swarm of locusts every time they appear. Seems like the culprit is pretty obvious to me.
How about just limiting guesting to once per 24 hour period?
Already in place (the limit is twice a day).
Put the loot tables back to pre patch and make the chests on a one per account basis not per character basis.
Then no one would ever fight a world boss again, because a handful of blues and greens aren’t remotely worth the effort.
And since the temples in Orr are among the chests improved, enjoy having them never be uncontested again.
Honestly the best thing they can do to solve this problem is to put a cooldown on guesting. Make it so you can only guest to a server once every some-odd hours, like 5 hours. That would solve the problem of people right when they complete their world event chest (dragons, maw, ect.), that they guest to whatever server has one of those events up right now (say going strait from Claw of Jormag to Shatterer).
This way you COULD still be able to guest to a server that has the events active that you want/neein additionon to your home server, but not be able to so easily spam them.
There already is a limit, you can only do it twice a day.
Event scaling seems wonky when soloed now. Two different escort events in Timberline Falls had me face one or more veteran (two veteran ettin when protecting a work crew setting up a watchtower, one veteran abomination while helping a research team set up camp) alongside the normal mobs. In both cases the events ended in failure seconds after going into combat because the NPCs were wiped out while i barely scratched the veterans. And neither of the events were marked with [Group].
I suspect the “veterans” were actually champions in disguise, since Timberline has at least two of those I know of (the spider guarding the one skill point and a crab on that one island) that have way too much health and hit too hard to be actual veterans.
It just feels like something changed rather recently…
Say, the 26th of February?
The helm from the Conquest set (medium karma armor unique to Fireheart Rise) isn’t available in PVE either, as far as I can tell. The relevant karma merchant sells the mask from the Gunner set for some reason, even though they sell the correct light and heavy helms.
I would like to know how people know this is 100% caused by guesting and not a huge increase in the interest in these events from the current server population?
They don’t, they’re just getting paranoid. If they thought about it, they’d realize there’s little to gain from guesting to another server for a dragon event (once per character per day, period), and absolutely none from guesting to one that’s going to be lag hell just taking the server’s own population into account.
I’m on Jade Quarry, and we just had a bunch of people outraged at the fact that we tried to show up for Shatterer and we were thrown in Overflow, before Guesting was enabled this never happened. And we didn’t have the terrible server lag that made arena net put the overflow on the maps in the first place. High Pop servers were high before Guesting, servers like Jade Quarry are unbearably full with guesting. I think there should be a way of cutting off guests abilities to loot chest off of their home server.
Guesting was implemented a full month ago, yet these complaints only started after the world bosses starting giving decent loot. That is not a coincidence. Even on relatively unpopulated Maguuma where I am, the number of people attending world bosses has skyrocketed, so the effects it would have on a higher-population server should be pretty obvious.
There’s no reason to guest to another server for a dragon event, you can’t get around the once per character per day limit like that and the number of people dedicated enough to make sure every alt of theirs opens every chest isn’t large enough to matter.
To be fair, we don’t know for certain whether or not the huge mass of people there ARE mostly guests, or whether it’s due to the fact that world chests got a massive loot buff and thus lots of players native to that server who wouldn’t normally bother with doing those events are now showing up.
Finally, someone who actually has some sense!
guesting isn’t the problem, how many times do you people have to be told that before you understand? World bosses are worth doing now, so people are coming out of the woodwork to do them. Your own server’s population is the problem, not a bunch of guesting boogeymen.
The bottom line: use of Guesting to enable looting of a world event more than once per day is an exploit.
It’s only an exploit if they’re getting multiple chests on a single character, which I’m pretty sure they can’t.
I’m going to spell it out for you: the world bosses give actual worthwhile rewards now, so a lot more people are showing up to the events. The bigger your server is, the worse the results are going to be. There’s no need to invent conspiracies about hundreds of people guesting into your server (something you can, iirc, only do twice a day per account, and which has been possible for a month at that) to explain that.
(edited by Hyper Cutter.9376)
You realize there’s already limits on guesting, right?
Also, blaming guests for lag is pretty stupid. Even on relatively unpopulated Maguuma people have been coming out of the woodwork to do the events and they’re a lot laggier than they used to be, so obviously it would be even worse on the most populated servers.
I personally hope they raise the cost. 100g just isn’t that much anymore. I love the T3 Slyvari skin. I haven’t gotten it yet but I would still like the price increased to account for inflation.
…what the kitten is wrong with you?
Also, I’ve pointed this out before but the price is insane, not just in and of itself but in comparison to the price of cultural weapons as well.
t1 weapons are about 10k karma, t2 are about 3.5 times more expensive than t1, and t3 about twice as expensive as t2. Now take the armor. t1 is about 3 gold, t2 about 8 gold (so far, pretty consistent with the weapons), and then t3 is 120 gold, 15 times as expensive as t2, what the hell.
