If they dropped the raid team today, it wouldn’t mean we would get any more content or the other content any faster. The raid team is tiny.
They don’t need to drop the raid team, if they’re so good at making instanced content Anet could just put them to work making instanced content for the masses instead of the elites (ie dungeons or at least fractals).
You see a lot of thieves roaming because that’s their “thing”, pretty much the one thing in the game they’re actually good at.
Don’t get me wrong, they’re god-awful to try and fight, but they’ve always been like that. Either they kill you, or they fail to kill you and hightail it out of there.
The whole reason grandmaster marks exist is so that buying ascended armor from a vendor is roughly as expensive as crafting it yourself, to provide an alternative to ascended crafting but not one that will make it obsolete.
Remember how precursor crafting isn’t actually any cheaper than buying them? It’s literally exactly the same thing.
Also crafting is very much a WvW thing, whoever said it wasn’t. They had crafting stations in the borderlands for a reason (until a bunch of giant babies cried to anet and got them removed).
The server being full has nothing to do with linking, though I’m sure you know that (like everyone who wants to “play with their friends” on a full server).
Also the playerbase has proven, time and again, that they will not balance their own population (and will do everything in their power to _un_balance it).
Linking was the only solution the players would accept. Blowing the whole thing up and starting over (with strict limits on transfers to prevent people from stacking servers again) or going megaserver would work better, but the foolish “server pride” of people like the OP won’t let that happen.
Someone whould not pick chrono if the next elite soec revolved around a mechanic that current mesmer/ chrono lacks.
Yeah, that. Anet realized, probably almost immediately, that trying to balance elite specs with core specs was futile and balancing them against each other was the way to go. If HoT had included two elites per profession, a lot of people would probably not have complained so much.
People can’t seem to wrap their minds around “conditions are just as valid a way to do damage as power”, so you see this weird outraged reaction over and over.
Except that the condi change was introduced with the HoT specializations.
No, it was introduced months before HoT’s release.
dire was removed because it was broken cant w8 for the same to happen in wvw as well as traiblazer
Leaving aside that the first part is wrong (unless you think Soldier’s and the like were broken too), removing a gear stat from WvW would require removing it from the game entirely. They’ve done that literally once in the game’s history, and then only because Magic Find stopped being a gear stat entirely so they had to replace those combos with something new.
Guild puzzle waypoints should be uncontested permanently, since guild puzzles are instanced now.
The only broken waypoint that really needs to be fixed is the one in southeast Brisban, because it’s literally the only waypoint in that entire area.
There’s plenty of utilitarian weapon and armor skins in the game already, if that’s what you want. Nobody uses them because they’re plain and boring, but they’re there.
One of the character creation options for engineers is a back item.
Are they a pain in the kitten when an enemy zerg engages you? Yes. And yes I know experienced groups will move away from lords room when this happens, but that just shows they are detrimental to the tactics an attacking commander can use.
Almost as if that was the entire point or something.
It’s because of people like you that:
- WvW achievements were nerfed
- Dynamic events were completely gutted and put on timers
- dungeons were nerfed and left in a state of disrepair
- Living Story season one was completely scrapped
- WvW tournaments were cancelled
- The original requirements for the WvW achievements were straight-up insane even for hardcore players. WvW players complained about that for years before Anet changed it
- World bosses (the only dynamic events anyone cares about) were not “gutted”, and they were always on timers (the timers were just messier). Those timers were also instance-based, and would wreak havoc in a multi-instance system, which is why Anet changed them. I also have no idea what “achievement hunters” have to do with it.
- Anet abandoned dungeons because they were too much work, and nerfed the rewards to drive people into newer instanced content like fractals and later raids, I’m not sure what you think “achievement hunters” had to do with any of this, either.
- Living story season 1 was scrapped because temporary content sounds a lot better on paper than it has ever been in practice, and both Anet and the players realized that
- They stopped having WvW tournaments because they were actively hurting WvW, they are literally on record as saying this.
Almost everything worth salvaging from season 1 has been salvaged. The story, such as it was, was embarassingly awful and should never see the light of day again.
Turn the marionette battle and the retaking of LA into fractals, and that’s everything worthwhile from it.
tbh id like them to make it require more this time around. Esp if they can squise some lore in there as well idk after doing the hotmaps and all im sitting at 250 hero points and it would feel bad the moment the expac launched to get it in the first min.
No, we don’t need them to artificially inflate the price of the new elite spec like they did the existing one relative to the core stuff. That’s an arms race that can’t end well.
If people have been diligent enough to rack up all those extra hero points, let them benefit rather than try to punish them.
You’re worried that you might not be able to instantly unlock the new elite specs? Jesus, why is it so far out there for you to have to play the game after the expansion comes out in order to purchase the next expansions elite specs?
Some people, amazingly, want to play the new content with the new elite specs instead of for them. That was what people were expecting with HoT (because Anet kept the cost of the elite specs secret until literally days before launch), and that’s why they revolted after the cost became known and got Anet to back down a bit.
They need to move the raid masteries into their own little section, away from the normal masteries so normal players aren’t punished for not doing content not intended for them in the first place.
Not sure why they didn’t connect Blazeridge (40-50 zone) to Iron Marches (50-60), either.
They did. The portal is in the northwest corner of Blazeridge.
Remove the adventure from collection. Is impossible complete specialization collection. Create collection dedicated to adventure e remove from other collection.
If it were impossible then nobody would have completed them.
Adventures only require you to get bronze which is doable for all of them.
I thought a bunch of them required silver? ( not disputing that it’s possible, merely that they need a bit more than bronze)
They used to until April of last year. I think the legendary precursor collections still require silver or above though.
Hivemaster still does too (which is ridiculous, considering Scrap Rifle is one of the hardest adventures in the game).
Please, stop abusing the farm options.

Plenty of people still do the Auric Basin meta, you just need to try a little harder to get into an active instance now.
Tangled Depths is a mess. It’s not so bad if you can use wallows and stick to the lanes, but there’s a lot of random nooks and crannies needed for map completion that are just stupidly unintuitive to get to (the mushroom forest under Rata Novus, the vista above Rata Novus you have to go halfway up the zone to get to, etc)
Other than that, the worst maps are the ones with too few waypoints, either literally (the Silverwastes and most LS3 maps could use at least one more each) or effectively (Orr, in particular, where at least half the waypoints are contested at any given time).
3. Fields of Ruin- As I mentioned in map chat there yesterday, it’s a lvl 30-40 map that you have to go through a lvl 40-50 map (because there are no other maps attached to it), which makes it less likely for explorers to find.
It connects to Divinity’s Reach, for the record, there’s a portal to it in Rurikton.
- The guild mission golem whcih is a pain to find.
2-MULT is in Timberline, not Lornar’s. That might be the source of your problem.
IMO, the real solution is to remove the ability of pets to attack on their own. Other professions do not have that ability and I frankly don’t understand why necros and rangers do. It’s not necessary for the other professions so I don’t see why it’s necessary for necros and rangers.
It’s so they defend you if you’re attacked (and defend themselves). All summons do this, actually, it’s just that necromancer minions are the only summons with no inherent time limit attached (and ranger pets are our class mechanic).
they should work on their afk kick system. Im always idle in many areas and I never ever get booted to the character select screen. It should be ~ 10 mins. but its nonexistent or was broken a long time ago and never fixed.
It’s about an hour in PVE.
I bet my 400 gems every gw1 armor that will make its way into gw2 will be a costume, just like the monk armor and the warrior primeval armor. Is it so difficult to implement them as a plain exotic armor set?
Primeval armor was an armor set.
I too believe EOTM is not part of WvW, and is only on the WvW map and in the WvW menu for… reasons?
If I want dungeon gear, I have to run dungeons.
ironically, this is a terrible example, since not only can you get dungeon gear via reward tracks it’s much easier to do so than running the actual dungeons (and was even before Anet nerfed the rewards and everyone abandoned them).
(this is also true of most HoT stuff, geodes and fossil insects from Dry Top, and meta rewards from LS3).
Oh mighty Anet I thank thee. Thou hast starved the gluttonous insatiety of the candy questing pver in wvw through your stalwart defense of that which is unattainable by them. I feel soon they can return to their ummutable pveland to squish 5 frogs and pretend AI is the true end game. You have enriched us with their bags and we have bathed in their tears. Do not stray from the course lest these snowflakes stay and beg for wxp-train in map chat. In your name we pray… Anet.
I think Anet should drop the rank requirement down to zero, just to spite petty, smug people like this.
SB 4… I can’t be the only one irritated by the daze, poison and PI?[/spoiler]
You could do something crazy like “not standing in the poison field”.
I like how you act like rank 2000 which is way to much is the only valid recognition of wvw commitment. As though rank 1000 isnt a stupid amount of playtime in wvw as is.
Also, iirc 1k is already dramatically beyond the average player’s WvW rank as it is. And even that rank would still take a lot longer to reach than it takes to craft any legendary in the game (including the armor).
I’ll be so disappointed if Anet caves and lowers the requirements. It will take away the value of it.
It will only take away the value if you only care about the skin because other people can’t have it. If you like the skin on its own merits, who else can get it would be irrelevant to you.
You can’t block conditions that are already on you, because they already hit you. I don’t know why people keep bringing that up like it’s some kind of gotcha.
Please, stop abusing the farm options.

Maybe Anet should have made the farm-as-intended actually good at the thing they intended it for, then people would actually do it.
If you think this is somehow unique to Raids, Need i remind you of the 4 warrior and a Mesmer meta of years past ?
The difference was that any five idiots can beat a dungeon path, regardless of build. The meta back then was doing it faster, not doing it period. That’s the elephant in the room: Anet created content that (by design) was exclusionary in a way that dungeons and even fractals never were.
I’m hoping Anet learned from the debacle last time, and sells the expansion cheaper to people who own the game already.
They won’t, they’ll go “beep boop the expansion is $50 no matter what” again, but it’d be nice.
Let’s flip this round – Let’s say the next LW update map is locked behind a 120 man queue – do you think the PVE community would accept that? Do you think they’d say – “oh don’t worry, wait a couple of weeks it will settle down. Do some map completion or farming while you wait”. Of course they wouldn’t and Anet would never put them in that position – but it seems quite acceptable to shaft the WvW community in this way.
PVE has measures in place to create extra maps if the original is full, and always has.
Somehow I don’t think you want a WvW megaserver, or even the overflows that it replaced, so what exactly are you expecting Anet to do?
And about quantity. They released all of GW1 content in much denser window… Eat this.
And burned themselves out doing so. That’s why they started making GW2 in the first place.
How would these conditions build character be able to smash a Centaur Weapon Rack then, when doing renown hearts?
They really need to update core Tyria so that conditions work on objects (which they do in HoT zones and LS3 zones).
The people in bitterfrost are doing a public service by keeping the winterberry nodes clear of monsters, I say let them be.
Elite Specializations - were a terrible idea

Everything that’s linked to the elite trait line is linked to it for balance purposes, for the same reason that you can explicitly only use one at a time. That way there’s no issues with people mixing the abilities of multiple elites in unexpected and probably broken ways (this was a huge issue with secondary professions in GW1).
I dont think that Anet tested it properly, and this is unexpected result. Running up a hill, doing event, that was leather farm. Since some smart ones invented this camping on one spot, its just mess and fail imho.
As the great Ian Malcolm once said, “life finds a way”.
The early story arcs are more important than people generally give them credit for. A lot of the characters from those arcs actually appear later in the game (especially in Orr).
Also we were the ones who put Canach in jail (after he ruined crab island and tried to kill us, mind you). Everyone, even the writers, kind of forgot that part.
I didn’t say anything about Spirit Watch, I was talking about the Wintersday Snowball Arena. Which is in fact a capture the flag (well, gift) map.
Hopefully Anet adds a “capture the flag” map. Unlike conquest, this mode will give tanks, healers and damage dealers a specific role. It will also make players think about different builds and team comps.
This mode is already popular and easy to develop in many pvp games. If we take WoW as an example, we find that the most popular battleground is a 13 year old CTF map (a.k.a Warsong Gulch).
We have a capture the flag map, it’s called Snowball Arena and it’s an unmitigated disaster (and that’s with standardized skills and stats).
The entire point of locking weapon and skills to the trait line is so you can’t cross-pollinate between elite specs. So no issues with one elite spec’s abilities being nerfed because they’re too powerful in the hands of another, for example.
Because it’s easier to change skills than change AI/encounters that would require more build “variety.”
That isn’t to say there still aren’t about 50% useless skills out there… spirit weapons, racial skills, a bunch of signets still, and even falling traits.
If we’re just speaking in terms of PvE balance that is.
The falling traits aren’t useless, they’re great for doing exactly what they’re intended to do (allow you to survive higher falls) and I for one used to use them all the time. It’s just that gliding kind of ate their lunch on the whole “protect you from falling” thing, and a lot of them are in inconvenient trait lines anyway.
What everyone crying failed to understand was that condi already was a viable alternative in PvE. Prior to HoT when conditions started getting totally out of control, there weren’t even raids
Prior to the specialization patch that also revamped the way conditions worked, conditions weren’t viable at all. No, that’s an understatement, the game actually punished you for using them because of the way multiple sources interfered with each other.
iirc, most of the things added to WvW since launch were things players wanted (or thought they wanted), and that includes the DBL itself.
I knew people wanted a new WvW map, but people actually wanted an eotm map for WvW??
At the time, yes. EotM was originally intended as a place for people to play when all their maps were queued, it just ended up taking on a life of its own.
I think WvW would be fine as long as we can spread out the active and skilled guilds evenly across different servers so that there will always be competitive fights around.
Unfortunately, the playerbase is actively trying to do the exact opposite. And short of dissolving all the servers and reshuffling everyone more evenly, linking is the best Anet can really do.
Just wondering what type of big changes are you expecting?
What do you think?
EVERYTHING THE COMMUNITY HAS SUGGESTED SINCE BETA.
In fairness, they did a lot of changes to desert and some of those came from the forum.
iirc, most of the things added to WvW since launch were things players wanted (or thought they wanted), and that includes the DBL itself.
At level 60 we could get unique armors only to PvP.
There was no “unique armor”, just skins that fell through the cracks (almost all the sets were, and are, partially available in PVE). That’s why they disappeared from the game entirely when the wardrobe was introduced: they were never properly available in the game to begin with.
Also, if Anet had removed them for the reason you think they did, they’d have immediately implemented them properly in PVE instead of just sort of sitting on multiple armor sets for like three years.
The only true PVP armor was the Glorious set and its upgraded version.
All they need to do about combat is remove the PVE cleave auto atack spamway from the game :|
This would be a good start, then reduce the cleave zone radious for the rest of the skills that cleave.
this would help reduce the lag as well.
Removing cleave from autoattacks would ruin the combat system and make fighting more than one thing at a time tedious at best. I don’t know how you still don’t see that.
Anet thinks its fine unfortunately. And there is no shortage of people making money off the ridiculous state of leather who also think its fine.
tbh i dont know whats wrong with 1 thing costing more than your avarge crafting mat
t6 cured leather costs almost 100 times what a bolt of gossamer costs, as checked on the TP while writing this post. That’s beyond “more than average”.
“Anet change this terrible meta”
“Okay”
“How dare you change the meta!”
