iirc, Anet made one of those on-site, in-the-game-launcher announcements about the salvage changes in the run-up to HoT. It should still be on the site somewhere.
- permanent sex change contract as far as i know there isnt one in the game why ? there is every other kind of permanent thing.
That’s a function of the Total Makeover Kit, and if a permanent one existed (which, strangely, it doesn’t yet) it would be a super-rare black lion chest drop like all the other permanent versions of things.
Locked Chests which you needed lock picks for.
We have like 6 or 7 different kinds of those now.
The player base asked for Armor Suits to be removed from the Gem Store – but they asked that they be added as in-game obtainable rewards.
Anet removed them from the gem store and then proceeded TO NOT add in-game armor as rewards but keep making “outfits” and selling them on the gem store instead.
They did add armor as rewards (Carapace, Luminescent, two versions of the Glorious PVP armor, the chest and legs of Radiant/Hellfire, Bladed, Leystone, Ornate Guild, two versions of the Triumphant WvW armor, proper ways to get Tribal/Stalwart/Apostle armor, a bunch of individual armor pieces, and many back items. Plus the Envoy set, and presumably there’s at least the armor precursors and the actual legendary armor skins added onto that eventually) after making that announcement.
If you think they didn’t add enough, that’s one thing, and you’re not wrong. Anet’s always been a sort of monkey’s paw: they’ll give you what you want, but in a way that makes things worse somehow.
An option to keybind the Passive/Aggressive toggle would be nice.
That already exists, it’s just not bound by default.
They simply pay no attention to useless skills and traits, that could keep the game interesting, by causing players to experiment.
.
Yes, they do, though not as much as they should. The one thing that made guardians to from terrible to “please nerf them, mama Anet” in PVP were reworks to scepter and sword, for example.
I have yet to see a complaint about matchmaking that doesn’t boil down to “I’m not winning as often as I think I should, so clearly this is the game’s fault”.

I’d like Anet to develop a better system for “you can do this heart again” than literally resetting them.
If they’re going to do the repeatable heart thing going forward, it’s something they really need to work on.
Or like Ranger’s Raygun of a pet? That 7k damaging AI skill has no warning and 3x more dangerous than some unblockable pull.
.
The bristleback’s F2 has an obvious tell, if you didn’t see the little turtle thing rear up on its hind legs before firing spikes at you that’s not the game’s problem.
They really should move the tokens out of there. Like, if you want to have some super-hard JP that’s fine, but don’t stick part of an unrelated achievement in there.
Pets as Wyverns also need better balance, most good pets for use are birds, felines, canines, drakes, and smokescale Bristleback ….. druids to me do not need nerf, and I ranger set and so I say, druids are not op.
From my experience the only playable pets in pvp are smoke scale, bristleback and spiders. Everything else either deals no damage or is always dead.
Wolf + birds used to be ‘good’ before hot, but due to all the power creep they just die from cleave damage within seconds.
All non-HoT pets need a complete revamp of their skill bars to bring them up to HoT standards (also wyverns, because they’re terrible). Functional skill bars are the only thing the bristleback and smokescale have going for them, their stats aren’t actually very good.
That would take a lot more effort than Anet is probably willing to spend, though.
Also, multimapping has made it impossible to get a regular taxi for the AB meta.
Also, the sheer number of rares being produced has rendered major sigils and runes almost as worthless as minor ones (to the point that some of them can’t even be listed on the TP any more).
Believe whatever you want, it’s intentional, and that’s my point. I think it’s pretty ridiculous to think Anet ‘messed up’ a whole underground area where you can loot 20 or so chests after the meta is complete in AB and ‘messed up’ not having similar areas in the other three HoT zones.
Being able to loot one AB worth of chests was intended, being able to loot more than that wasn’t. If it was, Dragon’s Stand (the other “loot a bunch of chests after beating the meta” map, btw) wouldn’t lock the instance once the meta was complete.

Players should not have to rely on other players to complete such a simple personal goal..
Thats not a simple personal goal. Its an MMO, you are meant to work together in the field. Getting to 80, crafting an exotic weapon, finding Lions Arch, thats simple goals. Taking on champion group event mobs is not supposed to be that. Its a group even for a reason.
Map completion is a personal goal, and everywhere else in the game it is something you can do solo.
I think hard stuff on high-level maps is appropriate. Grouping to do hard stuff is what MMOs are all about.
That’s what the meta events are there for.
All the other living story-related nodes were free, and even bought via laurel vendor I’m pretty sure they don’t cost 50g.
It’s way too much for a mediocre node.
DH shouldnt got buff in the first place
It didn’t, guardian did. It’s just that any change to the core class unavoidably effects elite specs too.
The #1 rule of gambling is “the house always wins in the end”. Never forget that.
The Dragonhunter gloves are literally that (albeit only on one hand).
and maybe pet dmg (buff the old ones and nerf the new ones)
The bristleback and smokescale (let’s not mince words here, you’re not complaining about the useless wyverns or the tiger here) already been nerfed repeatedly.
The correct thing to do would be to revamp all the core pets’ skill bars to bring them up to that level, but if people whine this much about the smokescale (literally a bear, that walking joke of a pet family, stat-wise but with about half their vitality), actual DPS pets like cats or birds with functional skill bars would cause us all to drown in tears.
The Hellfire gloves are already pretty much the second one.
The elite specs are fine.
They just need to tone down DH, it is not remotely close to balanced at the moment.
DH is probably the most balanced, since the buffs that made it go from “get out, you’re dragging us down” to “OP” were all to core guardian.
- gate utility skills behind the trait line, for no good reason.
- gate the weapon behind the trait line, for no good reason.
No, there’s a very good reason: so you can’t use them while using a different elite spec.

It’s not about “catching up” at all. It’s about putting a cap on what are the easiest points to obtain in the game. You can’t daily your way to account bound rewards/bonuses, you should have to play the game, actually invest your time in it, to be rewarded. Of course it’s going to have a cap, and I think it should remain as it is.
When I think of people who haven’t invested in the game, I definitely think of people who’ve been playing long enough to have hit the daily cap.
If Anet wanted people hopping maps to loot multiple finished metas, they wouldn’t have designed Dragon’s Stand explicitly to prevent that exact thing.
You can’t even unlock the ability to buy the recipes until you have a pretty high-level guild, that keeps them rare enough.
There’s really no reason for guild weapon/armor recipes to cost crystalline ore at all, especially when they also cost guild commendations (and every shimmering/tenebrous weapon requires a regular guild weapon as crafting material, and that costs commendations too). It doesn’t even make any sense, there’s nothing DS-related about these items.
(also the cost of the minipets are ludicrous, especially considering how uninteresting most of them are, but that’s another topic).
You need mystic coins only for prestige items and some overrated guild hall upgrades. So even if they would cost 10g per coin it would be totally fine in my eyes.
No, they’re also required for a number of low-end weapon skins too (or at least, they used to be low-end), including the mystic weapons required to get the elite spec weapons.
I’m not completely clear on GW1 lore, but wasn’t that where the 1st bloodstone was located? Was it destroyed during Prophecies?
The keystone was in a volcano that erupted, but it probably survived (since the island chain still exists and isn’t an enormous crater).
And since that bloodstone was just as close to Mordremoth as the one in Bloodstone Fen (and much closer to where Zhaitan was), it probably has plenty of magic to absorb.
(edited by Hyper Cutter.9376)
The tremors seem to be going west as well as south, I’d expect the final map to be either Southsun or possibly Sparkfly.
Let’s bring back everything, shall we.
This, but unironically.
i will never understand why people keep talking about condi metas or condis breaking the game when there was never a point where more than 2 or 3 classes at once actually ran condi builds that werent gimmicks in pvp <_<
People get really, really offended at the idea of conditions actually being viable, and I’ve never understood why.
Srsly fix the pet situation with rangers….random invulnerabilities all the friggin time. I’m supposed to ignore the pets right? Then why can their pet maintain aggro right ontop of me when the ranger is over 2500 range away from me? I wouldn’t be surprised if the ranger is getting ooc and just leaping back to where his pet is mauling me.
You’re not supposed to ignore the pet, you’re supposed to deal with them too. That’s the entire point of them as a mechanic.
Also your pet attacking something keeps you in combat, by the way.
Here’s a “what if” for critics of the current system. What would seem a reasonable way, to you, for obtaining the GoB and still meet ANet’s interests? For the sake of argument, let’s suppose that ANet’s motivations are strictly about two things:
- Legendary weapons should require some type of WvW participation.
- It should be easier to obtain rewards through active rather than passive gameplay.
Barring “return the vendor that was fine for 3 1/2 years”?
Make WvW reward tracks progress on direct WXP gain, like the PVP version does with rank points. That actually would promote active play a lot more than “do something, stand around waiting, do something, stand around waiting, etc” like people do now.
The activities really should be considered PVP, since they use PVP architecture (and had you in your PVP armor, back when that was still a thing).
Even bugged to give you rank points for a little while once.
Balance was not a problem in PvE and those skills and builds made it more fun imho.
You can’t say that when Shadow Form assassins and 55 monks existed.
The first play is the for the story, future plays are for achievements.
This is no longer the case in LS3.Its not a bug, just a minor annoyance. But for the most part, on your first playthrough you really should just relax and enjoy the story. its really good if you take the time. Worry about achievements when you return. Quite a lot of them are pretty hard if you don’t know what you’re doing, some achievements will really take you several tries, too
Really should be added that it have to be with the same character aswell you cant run story on your tanky necro and want to do acheivement on dps elementalist.
Which is annoying to say the least.
At least they fixed that for HoT/LS3.
People wanted an expansion because they weren’t satisfied with the relatively meager amount of content provided by the living story.
They wanted something more on the scale of Factions or Nightfall (not technically expansions, but if you linked them to an existing account they functionally were). You can see how well that worked out.
The cap is a terrible idea, because it punishes veteran players for being diligent, especially since Anet’s added next to no achievements since HoT launch (as opposed to the regular supply of them during LS1, in particular).
People who don’t have any reason to do the daily any more and don’t have any real content to do either are just going to leave until the next LS release and maybe not even come back.
To be honest, dungeons could have been added with release and then they’d be in the state as the other dungeons once everyone unlocked all of the skins.
Incredibly popular until Anet guts them to make raids look good in comparison?
The Gift of Battle track has particularly bad rewards, and that’s been complained about a bit which is why I hate it being randomly selected.
The fact that it’s a very lazy copy of one of the worst PVP reward tracks (it’s literally the Balathazar backpack track with the final reward, the only good reward in it, switched out) doesn’t help.
Also, I’ve said it before, but WvW reward tracks need to progress primarily on actual WXP earned (like the original PVP version does with rank points), rather than that janky “do something and wait X time to get rewarded because reasons” nonsense.
We need a Primordus weapon collection anyway (strange that Corrupted weapons have one but those don’t), kill two birds with one stone.
There’s also a bunch of PVP weapon skins that slipped between the cracks and were never properly implemented in PVE (also some armor skins: most of Heavy Scale, parts of Marauder and Studded, and most of the original guild armors).
As far as I’m aware, literally no one in the game has ever had a Destroyer Scythe, for example.
- Bristleback/Smokescale – still doing way too much damage for their survivability. part of this problem comes from being able to swap pets whenever they’re in danger. Someone somehow manage to pressure Bristleback to 10% HP? just swap to Smokescale. this is horrible design.
I swear to god, as soon as Anet gives us pets actually able to do their job, everyone runs whining and crying to Anet because God forbid pets actually hurt people instead of being completely ignorable.
They’ve already nerfed the bristleback and smokescale multiple times, enough is enough.

Oh I don’t disagree with that … Anet do want people to experience Raiding; in fact I think it’s key to future endgame content strategy. Expansions and LS are too ‘spiky’ to keep people ingame with the frequency they need to have constant revenues. If they attach rewards to raids that aren’t limited in usefulness to just raids, more people will try them out. They might not stick to it, but I bet some will like them and do it. That’s a smart move IMO.
If you want a traditional “raid or get lost” MMO, go play one. This game was supposed to be the exact opposite of that.
Elite specs are the way they are pretty much so Anet can balance them against each other. That’s why you can explicitly only use one at a time, and why the weapon/skills are tied to the trait line.
They really should have introduced two elite specs per profession with HoT, but that’s Anet for you.
The activities use PVP architecture (they even used to have you in your PVP armor, when that was still a thing. They were also bugged to give rank points for a while), as far as the game is concerned they’re PVP.
Better and more diverse PVP than “sit on a point forever”, too.
Objects in HoT maps actually are vulnerable to conditions, they just haven’t retroactively applied it to the rest of Tyria for… reasons, I guess.
It’s a guaranteed drop from the big chest at the end of the DS meta (if the collection is already active when you fight Mordremouth, unlocking it at the vendor by the chest won’t count).

What, does standing in Braham’s shield not work? It was my understanding that you have a choice between the shield or a much riskier round in the air.
I usually go for air, because I still need the achievement (curse those black dots!) but I thought this worked. Does it not?
It doesn’t, even though the dialog right before a gliding phase implies that it does. Yes, it’s dumb and misleading, and possibly bugged (entering Braham’s shield disqualifies you from the “don’t get hit in the air” achievement, so presumably it’s supposed to be an alternative).
(edited by Hyper Cutter.9376)
You know your right. They did decide that it’s ok to afk. They should make you play wvw. They should make gift of battle only obtainable by wvw achievements( see yak slapper and royal guard) not some phony reward track. I’d say that’s about as grueling as doing map completion.
They could just make a gift of battle the reward for WvW map completion. It’d make a lot more sense that way, actually.
Also, WvW reward tracks need to progress based on raw WXP earned, because they are awful to progress compared to their PVP counterparts (which progress based on rank points earned).
Therefore the only thing that can create anything to compete with the elite trait line is another elite trait line. And if you really want a broader diversity then the new elites need to have a different function than the current elites. Like ranger needs something that isn’t based upon support to give rangers a different role to fill because while they only have access to druid then all they will be is a support role.
So…Anet needs to keep trying the same thing that has been failing horribly:
“Fight power creep with MORE POWERCREEP!!!!”
You know that the next set of elites are not going to be side-grades to current elites, they will be straight-up stronger and everyone will QQ that even HoT specs are dead.
Balancing 1x every 3 months, with people who don’t have a very strong grasp about why things are strong or not, hasn’t worked well throughout GW2 history.
The elite specs are designed to be balanced against other elite specs. That’s the entire reason you can only put them in that third trait line, and why the weapon/skills are hard-locked to the trait line.
