New boosters, Crafting license, BLT chests

Additional profession spaces per character? The first thing that came to my mind was, “new crafting professions coming soon.”

Fishing?

That would actually require creating some new content. If it actually did occur, it would probably be a profession only available through the gem store.

The game “ships” with 5 character slots and 8 crafting disciplines — anyone can end up covering the current set of crafts with just 4 toons, leaving room for two more crafts. The only reason to get the crafting license is there’s a really important (and probably cost-limiting) reason to have more than two crafts on the same character.

For myself, I can’t conceive of the circumstances in which I would need to do this — it’s already plenty convenient (for me) to swap characters. I just make sure any new recipes are learned by the same set of 4, so I don’t have to remember who knows what.

I have a gw2 Flipping question

Basically it’s the profit you make if you flip the item.

It’s the theoretical profit made by buying and selling the item and the currently listed prices. Under typical circumstances, you are probably buying at at a slight higher price and selling at a slightly lower one — you are certainly competing with suppliers who would be undercutting and consumers who are over-cutting.

tl;dr it’s the best case scenario

Cosmetic Bundles

Illconceived Was Na.9781

It would obligate the monetization team to come up with a “nice” set of cosmetics every month. As it stands now, if the gem shop offers new items that people hate, then those items fail to sell. But if there was a subscription with less-than-stellar offerings, subscribers would be justifiably upset that they paid for poor value.

Near as I can tell, ANet doesn’t want to make any specific commitments along those lines, so they are able, in any particular development cycle, to prioritize what the game needs the most — sometimes, that might be new/improved cosmetics (to help generate revenue), but sometimes it could mean overhauling something fundamental (e.g. the wardrobe allows improved features for all players and makes it possible to develop new sets of cosmetics).

That said, I don’t think there’s anything stopping them from bundling existing items into bundles that sell at a discount. And we’ve seen a few of those (not all of them embraced by the players).

It’s clear from the description that BL Keys are a gamble — they are more like a lottery in that there’s a tiny tiny chance to win big and lots of chance to win something minor, but in the end, the public loses 50 cents of every dollar invested in state-sponsored lottos.

If you don’t want to gamble, then put in a buy order for the skin on the TP. This works even if you just want to speculate that the future price will be drastically higher.

As an owner of two of the sprocket-generating picks, I think they should:

  • Remove the extra-ordinary bonus from the current everlasting picks.
  • Create a new, renewable source of sprockets and shards, e.g. by increasing the drop rate from Aetherblades and/or some more economically feasible method of promoting them in the Mystic Forge.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to offer anything in the gem shop that provides a feature/tool that can’t be acquired by playing the game. Everlasting tools are fine — you can get the same feature by buying the consumable versions. But offering tools in the gem shop that drop sprockets without those being available from NPCs — I think that creates a less open environment for everyone.

(And no, I don’t consider being able to buy gems with gold a method of acquiring those features by playing the game.)

There are 52 ordinary crystals and 10 master ones. I finished the regular 40 first and then the 10 master ones later.

Like Arrow.4619, there was a master crystal I was sure I had found/activated and I returned to it more than once to double-check…but it turned out I confused it with another crystal that I hadn’t activated.

In your shoes, Koviko, I’d systematically go through the 10 one more time, taking screenshots of each (so that the image includes the mini map and the relative height). Assuming you don’t suddenly discover the one you are missing that way, create a support ticket and include all 10 screenshot, with a (brief) description of the location.

If there’s a bug, that will provide ANet with the type of data they need to troubleshoot. If it’s not a bug, that will provide support with the type of data they need to help you resolve whatever is going on.

Good luck!

The issue with rising Gem prices

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

The system is designed so that you can afford gems if:

  1. You have more dollars than time and buy directly.
  2. You have more time than cash and can earn coin in-game to pay for gems.

As long as the first group is large, it will take increasing amounts of gold to buy gems. At some point, the number will get high enough that more people will be motivated to buy gems with their PayPal/Credit Card and put pressure in the other direction.

A high gold:gem ratio thus benefits new players and anyone who wants to spend money to save time in the game. It also makes it harder for gold sellers to stay competitive, which benefits everyone.

It only is a problem for people like the OP who neither have time nor money to invest.

Inflation

Illconceived Was Na.9781

The biggest gold sink in the game is the 15% the TP takes from sellers. That’s among the reasons the GW2 economy is relatively stable.

If you look at highly coveted skins (and materials required to make them), you’ll see price spikes. But if you look at bread & butter items (no pun intended), there’s mostly only gradual increases.

As a game matures, there are more people joining and earning wealth, many who have less and less to spend on. That means big coin reserves, which they can plunk down more indiscriminately, thus raising the gold value on precursors, BL Weapon Skins, and gems.

The price of precursors spiked a lot when the wardrobe was announced: that created an artificial and suddenly increase in demand, since the skin could be re-used on any character (and on any future weapons). Unless there’s some other calamitous event like that, we’ll continue to see gradual increases in prices. And many items have dropped drastically in price, depending on other factors.

BTW If you make a custom offer now, you can probably get some of the precursors for pre-Wardrobe prices — I put in a bid for The Legend in late May for the price I wanted to spend in February (but couldn’t afford) — I got it, even though I’ve never actually seen the other buy offers dip that low on the TP (or on Spidy and other such sites).

The issue is that the nomenclature used by ANet is horribly confusing.

So you can increase agony resistance by adding simple or fine infusions with agony resistance to an infusion slot on uninfused Ascended gear or by adding Agony Infusions to an Agony Infusion slot on infused ascended gear.

But you can’t add Agony Infusions to an infusion slot or infusions with agony resistance to the extra Agony Infusion slot on Infused gear.

So simple that almost no one understands it!

WvW/Karma gear salvagable?

If Anet is that concerned about economic impact, the easy solution is to just make karma gear salvage into karma jugs, wvw gear into badges of honor, etc instead of potential ectos/dark matter. That way we could at the very least be able to recover runes/sigils.

I doubt it’s an “easy” solution in terms of programming, but it’s intriguing. You craft gear with mats worth several gold and you only get a modest amount of them back when salvaging, but you can recover the upgrades. So why not apply the same logic to gear obtained in other ways?

Kick from guild should not be in Party

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Illconceived Was Na.9781

There should be atleast at confirmation: “Do you want to kick that person?”.

Maybe not — a lot of guilds purge inactive members once a month; this would slow them down a lot (and get them to stop paying attention to the message).

Removing the option from friends list and party menu would be a great start.

Then maybe for guild leaders there could be a button on the roster that is something like: “show everyone who hasn’t logged on and/or hasn’t gained any achievement points since year-month-day” and if that’s selected, then there’s no warning dialogue that you are about to kick.

Once both of those are done, then add a confirmation message before kicking someone in any other context.

Maybe y´all should open a new thread for the token discussion as it is off topic here and propably wont be seen by an Anet employee.

The original post was sharing data on results from 11,000 forge attempts. I was hoping to start a discussion about the mechanics of the current system, not brainstorm about some potential future mechanic.

What’s gotten lost is that John Smith said:

The mystic forge changes are a work in progress. What I will promise is that when it is done you will like it much better than you do now.

The data shows that the new drop tables offer a choice of nearly 30 skins+stat combos (up from ~20), but a loss of value (primarily due to seeing sub80 results). Previously, we could count on the Zommy always returning items at least as powerful as the ones we flushed. Now, he will often return lesser items than the top level rares and exotics we give him.

Objectively, this isn’t “much better” under any definitions or connotations of which I am aware — in fact, it’s easy to argue that it’s significantly worse now. So, either John made a major tactical mistake or there are more changes coming to Zommy’s drop tables.

Since Smith’s track record is imo really good, I’m expecting (hoping?) that future changes will blow us out of the water.

Paying for past content?

Illconceived Was Na.9781

If I just started today, I’m not planning on paying for S1 (pretending it’s available). There’s plenty of content in the existing game.

If a friend of my decides to start playing in 2015, they aren’t going to pay for S2. They can play the “regular” game and get Season 3 for free.

The only time anyone even has to consider spending gems is if they want to play LS content from the previous year. That seems like a really good compromise.

For those worried about open world components of the LS: we already have a split now. Season 1 included both instanced story and open world elements. e.g. retaking LA was open world/cooperative; confronting Scarlet during the counter-offensive was instanced.

What’s being offered for LS2 is the ability to keep track of the LS instanced storyline as if it’s a continuation of the PS — and I think that’s great. We get an evolving, epic story and it will be replayable. Plus, we get any of the temporary open-world content if we’re around at the right time.

Swapping means considering traits, skills, the specific stats for the armor, weapons, trinkets/back item.

At a minimum, this currently requires clicking at least a couple of dozen times. If you can reduce this to 3-4 clicks (to open interface, select a template, open it), I can manage the re-skinning/re-coloring.

It would also be nice to be able have a search filter (name, trait used, etc), but that’s gravy.

You seem to have resurrected a pre-megaserver post. I doubt very much if there’s any connection between what you might be seeing and what took place nearly a year ago.

  1. If you show up at 5 minutes prior to the scheduled event, you are nearly guaranteed to be in a different instance. Often, I find myself in a new map 15 minutes prior.
  2. I finish this event daily and never once have I seen a problem with completing any of the events. I’ve never even heard anyone whine about this. (That doesn’t mean it’s impossible, but it does mean the circumstances must be very unusual.)
  3. If you are still experiencing the issue somehow, then please start a new thread and include more detail about what you are seeing. Which event isn’t finishing? What happens to the other three settlements while the map is working on that event? Do you see the count-down timer for the queen’s appearance? What time are you trying to do this event? etc

I’m sure many of us would be happy to help you get past the event and be able to participate in taking the queen down. We just need enough info so that we can offer suggestions.

Just out of interest, are there any studies on the random precursor rate when forging 4 different weapons?

Or using 3 random weapons and a mystic stone?

Nugkill believes (based on his data) that the rates are currently the same for combining four random weapons or four weapons of the same type. About 1/4 of his data comes from the random method.

  • Rare staffs x4: 18.79% of trials; results: 0.10% precursors, 19.1% exotic
  • Rare Swords x4: 26.88%; results: 0.10% precursors, 20.1% exotic
  • Rare Daggers x4: 13.23%; results: 0.20% precursors, 20.2% exotic
  • Rare GS x4: 14.24%; results: 0.19% precursors, 20.2% exotic
  • Random rares x4: 26.86%; results: 0.10% precursors, 21.0% exotic

He doesn’t have sufficient data on exotic, but if you read the thread linked in my OP, you can follow the links to another Redditor who points out that the cost of exotics makes it significantly more expensive to gamble and doesn’t appear to be worth trying.

At the volumes required for testing, I don’t think it’s possible for anyone to have enough mystic stones to run thorough testing. Nugkill’s smallest count was 1,600 for Greatswords — even if the drop rate was 10x better, that would still require 160 trials and I doubt many people have even that many mystic stones left.

“The mystic forge changes are a work in progress. What I will promise is that when it is done you will like it much better than you do now.”

So far, I don’t like how it is right now. I don’t see any positive changes that would make me like it. I only hope that these supposed changes that are a work in progress will improve it as mentioned.

The first week, I liked that a few different skins were dropping. And it turned out that some were more valuable (since it was also the first week that the wardrobe was available). But… since then, all I see is that it became riskier to use the forge to charm the RNG gods out of their precursors.

And that means that people like Nugkill will be less motivated to spend time mindlessly clicking 4 items and a “forge” button, which will, in turn, likely reduce the number of precursors available in the market.

And everyone knows that is bad, because it increases the number of forum posts about how the “economy is broken — precursors are too costly.” (j/k — the real issue is that I don’t see how the community benefits from an increased risk in forging-for-precursors.)

Illconceived Was Na.9781

Infamous Redditor Nugkill has posted data on over 11,000 attempts at asking Zommy to forge four rares (average level 75+). These attempts were all made since the feature patch in April.

You can review his results by reading the relevant post: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/27am2f/lots_of_data_weapon_forging_since_the_feature/. (Or if you want to type out the URL yourself — recommended for those of us who never trust anyone’s links — reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/27am2f.)

Here’s how he describes the results:

  • The chance for a precursor from rares has not changed. It is still ~0.125% or 1 in 800.
  • The upgrade chance remains at 20%, but now you have an ~8-9% chance of getting an exotic lower than lvl 80, and an 11-12% chance of getting a level 80.
  • The chance of a named exotic from random rares is no longer higher than combining four of the same. Both methods have just over a 4% chance of returning a named exotic (meaning named exotics are now rarer than they used to be).
  • There is still no difference between forging 4 level 80s versus 4 weapons that average at least lvl 75 – both still return a guaranteed lvl 80 rare, or an exotic based on the distribution laid out above.

A couple of other points that might not be clear:

  • The sub-L80 results apply only to exotic results. You still always get 80s from average L75+ inputs for Blue->Blue|Green, Green->Green|Rare, and Rare->Rare.
  • There are ~29 different possible exotic drops for each weapon type Nugkill forged (staff, dagger, GS, & 1H-sword).
  • The average value of the sub-80s is only sometimes substantially less than the items they replaced. Further the sub-80s no longer have greater value, although this was sometimes true in mid-April.
    • Etched & Ceremonnials are nearly the same price at all levels (exception: daggers, about 1g less). These represent about 11-15% of the exotics, but only 5-6% of the total values.
    • Iron, Tribal, and Legionnaire types: sub-80s are 50s-1g less valuable than their L80 counterparts. These represent 30-40% of all exotics and about 10% of the total value.
    • Pearl (i.e. crafted) skins are less common: used to be ~43%, now only ~24%.
    • 50-100s/weapon applied to about 40% of the drops adds up. The per-item loss isn’t much, but Zommy dropped over 2,200 exotics for Nugkill: even 50s loss on 1/3 of those represents a potential loss of 350 gold.
  • Named weapons might be dropping more often, according to Nugkill’s own data.
    • Over 21% of his staffs this month were named, compared to his pre-patch results which were ~15%. Another Redditor had 16% named staffs.
    • Daggers: nearly 25% of Nugkill’s current exo dagger drops were named. Redditor Fiammadt had <15% pre-patch.
    • Greatswords: Nugkill shows nearly 17%, about the same as pre-patch results I have from other Redditors.
    • Swords: Nugkill has 19% currently; I have no other results to compare.

My own methodology was as follows:

  • I typed out Nugkill’s data into a spreadsheet. Validated by comparing his totals to mine and reviewing each row in reverse order.
  • I categorized items by level (80 | less than 80) and by a “skin type” (pearl | standard | fancy | named | precursor). “Fancy” refers to etched and ceremonial skins; standard are all “none of above,” e.g. Iron or Tribal.
  • I took lowest sell and highest buy offers from GW2TP.com, using the item ID (which I also validated).
  • To get the “value” of a type, I multiplied each item count by its gw2tp value, summed over the same skin type, and then divided by the total in the category.

I guess I should explain my thoughts a little more. I am NOT a farmer, and WvW is one of the few non-high level PVE areas I bring my LvL 80 Chars. I mine nodes for daily when I’m running through the area and I sell things that I don’t need.

Right, I do the same.

By adding the limited supply nodes to areas where high level players play, could just by the nature of them being available increase the supply and help balance the economy.

Here’s where we differ: you see an unbalanced economy because T5 mats are cheaper than T3-4, whereas I think that’s an expected part of a mature MMO economy.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong in e.g. replacing mithril ore veins with iron ore veins, but I don’t think it’s necessary for the health of the economy. I’m ok getting less for mithril and more for iron. I even think it’s a good thing that new players will earn more coin from their unwanted items than I will from mine.

As long as I can buy stuff on the TP, I get to choose whether to farm or sell T5-6 to buy T3-4.

The hidden truth about the "Chaos of Lyssa"

Illconceived Was Na.9781

My take away from the thread: John Smith doesn’t see any issues of concern to the economy as whole.

  • He’s aware of the high prices.
  • He’s aware of the perception that drop rates are “too low.”
  • He’s aware of the perception that a handful of people are artificially manipulating the supply and price on the TP by buying as many units as possible and selling them slowly.

Now, that doesn’t address the issue that a bunch of people are concerned enough to post here, on Reddit, on Guru, and elsewhere, bemoaning this state of affairs — Smith is in charge of the economy, not player satisfaction in general.

Personally, I think ANet made an odd choice that some god-themed backpack recipes would be easily acquired and some wouldn’t be. But I fully accept that no matter how much coin I gather, I’ll never have all the things I covet in the game and even some individual items that I’ll never be able to afford.

In other words, I can afford to gather mats for a legendary or I could sell those mats and have enough to buy a recipe for a popular (but rarely seen) back item. I can have Twilight for my mesmer or the Chaos of Lyssa, not both. I’m okay with that.

Choose the right word and it works pretty well. Instead of " rawhide leather pack," type in “8” — you’ll only get the 8-slot bags.

I would prefer a more standard search function, but in the meantime, I’m able to work around it (mostly, sometimes).

T3-4 nodes

The OP is also correct that there are more people in Tier 1-2 zones (new toons) and in T5-6 zones (better XP/Karma and generally more chances at exotics, ecto-dropping rares). This is a perennial problem in MMOs as the population evolves: there’s not much reason to stay in T3-4 zones.

In theory, the high price of the mats should encourage farmers to focus on those zones. In practice, I suspect a large number of potential farmers go after rich veins and tree-clusters instead, since that will be more efficient.

People also seem to favor L80 event chains over L30-50 ones, which reduces the potential supply of mats from non-champ bags (e.g. medium icy, light supply, miner bags, etc).

However, I disagree with the proposed solution: people already have plenty of options for where to go to gather their own T3-4 mats.

Crashing While Engaging Karka Queen

I crash sometimes during the event. Turning down the graphics to minimum has prevented this entirely. I’m now experimenting with different settings to see what works.

I suspect what’s changed is that there are now many more people using weapons with particle effects, triggering combos, and otherwise overtaxing my graphics card. (It might also be overheating — I haven’t ruled that out.)

For the moment, I consider this to be a problem on my end, not on ANet’s end.

Can I use a macro then?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

The ethics behind macro’ing shouldn’t be questioned in the first place unless they give you a distinct advantage over other players

The problem with that logic is that everyone’s interpretation of “distinct advantage” is different, but the only definition that matters is ANet’s — and ANet isn’t telling us (because they cannot and because they should not). There are dozens of posts here (or Reddit or Guru) describing how someone was sanctioned for what they were convinced was a trivial matter.

Consequently, anyone choosing to automate any action, no matter how trivial it seems, is taking a risk of being permanently banned.

To evaluate the risk, look at the situation from ANet’s point of view:

  • Will ANet be concerned that this hurts the game in any way?
  • Might it influence the economy?
  • Will it affect bandwidth?
  • What happens if 1% of the players do this? 10%? 25%?
  • How will players react if this action seems allowed, but not similar ones?
  • How might botters and gold sellers take advantage of ANet turning a blind eye?
  • And, sure, could it give a player a temporary or permanent advantage?

tl;dr it doesn’t matter if any (or all) of us think the action is ok; it only matters whether ANet thinks it’s a potential issue.

Karka Queen dies in one minute

The 15-minute timer shouldn’t have any influence on how ANet designs the events: they should be fun, which probably means some chance at failure and something more interesting than using autoattack and watching TV. Sure, a lot of people would complain about only being able to manage 2 bosses/hour instead of 4, but a lot of people would be pleased to have epic bosses instead of faceroll foes with extra HPs. There’s room between the ease of defeating KQ and the organization (even if PUGs) required for Tequatl. There’s room between the artificial challenge of SB’s non-loot-bearing champs and the complexity of the evolved worm event.

In any case, the OP wanted KQ’s short lifespan addressed as a bug, but it seems likely that the KQ event chain is working as intended.

Her armored carapace probably needs to be tweaked a bit so that she’s completely immune to all damage at 50 stacks (like Mai’s shield), but as people throw eggs she starts taking damage. Currently she takes a small amount of damage even with full stacks, so with a large enough zerg you can still kill her without throwing any eggs at all.

Yeah, that would be a simple sort of tweak. Before megaservers, she would last mostly until she had 10 or fewer stacks. Now, she enters phase 2 with about 30 stacks and in the last two days, I’ve seen her with 43 stacks when she entered phase 2.

Another change that would help is to give her 100% health for phase 2, like every other karka veteran and above.

If this is not a bug, then your game is pointless.

I do the event every day, and while it’s usually extremely fast, I have yet to see it take less than a minute. (Nearly every day, someone in my party has to run from a waypoint, and that alone takes nearly a minute.)

I agree it is over too quickly — even the four pre-events can be done within 2 minutes. However, I don’t think the event is “bugged” — like every world boss, it needs a lot of tweaking to handle zergs of zerker-equipped players.

notice all the people against this idea are also offering hardcore market advice…..i think we know which type of person is really in favor of the undercutter =p

not all of us want to watch the market, some of us would rathe rplay the game and STILL not support the idea of undercutting by 1c, i think thats a game we can build together

I’m not “in favor” of the undercutter. I’m in favor of a system which benefits everyone in the game or at least more people than it harms. Focusing on the handful of situations in which being undercut by 1c significantly affects someone’s gaming experience offers little benefit to the player base as a whole.

If I don’t want to be undercut, I can accept the lowest custom buy offer. As soon as I ask for more than 2c beyond that price, I know I risk someone offering less. Even then, that just means I don’t sell first — I have yet to encounter the situation in which I failed to sell because someone (or several someones) undercut me by 1c; that only happens when I get too greedy/misjudge the market and ask for too much.

Adding rules or mechanics around undercutting reduces the pressure on the sellers to decrease their asking prices, which hurts anyone interested in buying the items in question. That’s bad for more people than it benefits — and that’s why I can’t support the idea of regulating undercutting (or overbidding).

The bladed backpieces remain the cheapest way to get ascended stats of your choice for a back item (unless you run fractals frequently, in which case you have other options). I doubt ANet is going to offer other uses any time soon.

Guild bug

The most likely situation is that you are on Vabbi, but the guilds have built their upgrades on a different server.

from the wiki article, Influence

Influence is accrued and spent separately by the guild members on each world. For example, a guild with players in Maguuma, Blacktide, and Riverside (called chapters of the guild) will have three different pools of Influence and three different build queues, one for each world.

ANet plans to change this, maybe this year. But in the meantime, each world has its own influence and must build its own upgrades.

it should be up to the buyer to decide if they want to buy from the 19 99 99 or the 20 00 00, thats a simple change and doesnt restrict anyone, you can still undercut if you want

  1. That’s not a simple change to the mechanics of the TP. It also complicates the UI.
  2. It only benefits two people: the one asking for a higher price and the person willing to pay more to accommodate that seller.
  3. It hurts nearly everyone else, by reducing pressure on sell orders to drop closer to buy offers.

I would prefer ANet spend its limited on changes that benefit everyone, such as providing the same data to buyers and sellers.

In the extreme, selling to the highest bidder prevents undercutting entirely. Therefore those of us who ask for more than that risk someone else offering a lower price. Sure, it’s annoying when the asking price is tens or hundreds of gold and the undercut amount is a few silver, but that just tells me that (surprise), I’m not the only trying to make a buck on that particular item.

Placing of tied servers - Spring Tournament

in WvW

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

If two worlds tie, both will receive the better reward.

For example, if there are two worlds tied for 1st place, both will receive 1st place rewards. Then the next world would receive 3rd place, and so on.

What about servers who are now placed lower than they should be because of ties during the season?

For example, Anvil Rock (AR) and Ehmry Bay (EB). AR is going to end up placing 7th. EB is going to end up tying for 4th. AR beat EB 2 wins, 0 losses. Why is EB higher? Well, when the two tied on points (twice) during the season, ANet opted to place EB in the lower tier (giving them more points) while leaving AR in the higher tier (decreasing their points). As a result, AR is now ranked lower than the server they clearly beat.

The system is working as ANet intended, so AR is not ranked lower than they are supposed to have been.

However, I agree with your main point: there’s a problem with scoring in both the 2013 and 2014 tournaments that I hope they address: any server coming in 2nd or 3rd in tier N is guaranteed more points for less work by tanking a match enough to drop them to tier N-1 — they get an easy win that week for 5 points instead of struggling to get 1 or 3 points against more competitive worlds. It should never happen that a score is better just because the server’s schedule is easier.

For sensible reasons, a post to which I replied was deleted by the topic originator.

As a result, I received a private reply that stated:

A moderator moved a message you posted to the forum ‘Trashcan’ with the reason:

The thread “[topic blah blah]” was removed from the forum due to: User removed the original post. All posts responding to it have been removed with it.

Follow the new thread here.

Obviously, if the “user removed the original post,” there is no “new thread” to follow and the message is both inaccurate and misleading.

Of all the various issues with the website, this is probably among the least important, but I do hope it gets fixed whenever the next significant overhaul takes place.

There are several ways to turn karma into gold, the most economic efficient of which is to craft items that require karma-based ingredients and have a high profit:cost ratio.

My baseline for investing karma is the money one might save by purchasing fine or basic salvage kits with karma rather than gold, i.e. 11.43s/1,000 karma. (below, kK stands for kilo Karma, or 1,000 karma)

  • Crafting & selling unidentified dyes: 25-40s/kK
  • Crafting & selling beaded weapons: 15-40s/kK
  • Buying cloth grabbin’ gloves, salvaging results, and selling: 10-15s/kK
  • Buying karma gear that forges (at low rates) into valued skins or named items: net loss up to 80s/kK
  • Orrian Jewelery Boxes: ~1.5-3s/kK, including some value for getting obby shards.

The Pavillion events are more easily farmed imo. Multi-gambit gauntlet guides are common and (some) PUGs are reliable able get gold rewards on Boss Blitz.

In contrast, the Labyrinthine Cliffs events cannot be done more efficiently than they are now: dolyak races and fizzy drinks occur once each per hour and there’s a longish minimum time for both Sanctum Sprint and Aspect Arena.

If the drop rates for both Favors are the same, it seems likely that the supply of the Pavilion version is likely to be much higher.
