I start with Marksmanship:
Alpha Training→move into opening strike.
Furious Strike →replaces Alpha Training:
Whenever you gain fury you get opening strike.
Clarion Bond:
Change ICD to 20s, so it is streamlined with Petswap. Decrease boonduration of these applied boons 33% to compensate.
Enlargement:
Replace with Hardening, swap position with brutish seals.
Hardening: Similar effect but with signet of stone and an appropriate ICD.
Predators instinct: Keep effect but halve ICD and halve duration to compensate.
Brutish Seals: add fury same duration as the might. <- synergy with opening strike traits
swap brutish seals with Enlargement/hardening.
Steady Focus: Every crit in succession increases your dmg and condi dmg 1% up to 15%. Only in combat.
Moment of Clarity: I split this one up.
Attack of oportunity went into remorseless. The stun duration went into predators onslaught.
New Master Trait:
Ferocious Persistance:
Gain unblockable when you interuppt/stun an enemy with an appropriate ICD.
Predators onslaught:
Add knockback to the effected conditions. Add the increased stunduration from moment of clarity.
Remorseless: Gain an attack of oportunity after you struck with an opening strike. Opening strike deals more dmg.
Lead the wind:
Longbow skills pierce.
Skills recharge faster while under the effect of quickness <- this could be interesting but its maybe difficult to balance. maybe something like 17% to hit the halve CD reduction with alacrity.

What changes would need to be made to elevate power revenant to a pug-ready state in raids?
This is basically how to make power revenant better for general PvE IMO.
Some punch for staff AA. Remove the skill usage condition on staff 2. Just make it a short interuppt.
Cleave on hammer AA.
Improve sword usage against multiple targets.
For example: Precision strike hits up to 3 targets. Every target can only hit once. Increase dmg of precision strike 66% or 50% if 66 is to high.
Same with sword 3: You can hit a target 3 times and increase dmg per hit. You can hit up to 3 targets.
Give sword 5 a 480 range.

(edited by InsaneQR.7412)
ICD shortening.
Synergy. → within a line and cross synergy.
Traits that do not punish player nor pet if used.
Thats all we want.
(i bring my suggestions later on)

Honestly Underwater is so abandoned at this point, this is just one more checkbox in an endless list of “is underwater off the development table” list.
Thank god for that. In pvp underwater battle is horribly inbalanced and in pve it is horribly annoying.
Why is there no Glint, Ventari and Dwarf stance for underwater combat?
This is crap by design. You start with dwarf, nothing else. First underwater mission and you are screwed, because you have no healing skill and no utility skills. Thanks for great leveling experience anet.
They could atleast put jalis underwater. Without glint and ventari could live.

As interesting as it would be to have a general legend with the racial skills tied to it, considering the other skills are ‘locked in’ to a particular legends powers, even that wouldnt work b/c not all races have a full set of racial skills. often missing a healing related utility and sometimes a general utility racial. i would imagine AN looks at it as too much work/programing for skills that are underpowered to begin with that ppl generally dont use.
Dont think about a seperate legend per race. Just think about exhangable utilities with racials.

Jupp it basically morphs sword into a second condi set.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
Why dont you combine:
Berserker – power, prec, fero
Knight – toughness, pow, prec
Valkyrie – power, viality ferocityyou dont need to be full knight or full bers. combine armors.
use something like:
head, shoulders – berserker
chest, gloves – knight
legs, boots – valkyrie.Same with amulets,rings etc..
Yeah good to point out i forgot to mention this.
Thats basically the strongpoint if PvE/WvW conpared to PvP. We have gear flexibility so mix and match for your needs.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
For PvE openworld is berserker best for fast kills with power. And vipers for condi.
I recommend marauder or knights if you want some survivability for power.
Rabid for condi.
I actually have a permablock build for DH with quite good survivability and good crit dmg.
http://de.gw2skills.net/editor/?vVUQRAse5dnsABlChFdCOCB8Dhl6hSe+z//3aCi3Q4KA2hfA-TBiDAB8s/AAm/2+kKogSwR0/swTKIIlfyo+DpAGbrF-e
It uses knight for toughness and cinverts toughness to ferocity.

Atm only if you are raiding it makes a difference but dont worry it will be nerfed soon.
Mainly Anet is scared tgat people have benefits from having other races. Instead of balancing them properly and deactivate them everywhere except in openworld.

My bad i didnt looked it up, but still is there a swimming fernhound in bloodstremcoast and they dont made canines amphibious even if dogs swim.in real life and a lot of wildcats dont.

Actually they should take a look to signets in general. Wild is good and all but the “grow effect” is outdated and just general boons would be good (might and stab), the idea of a stunbreak is nice and should be added.
SoS is good but could use some CD reduction in PvE because its mainly used in PvP / WvW.
Signet of the Hunt has not a useful active. Its gone to quickly. I would like if they just add the effect that the next 5 attacks are crits and after the effect you gain fury.
The passive is kinda blunt but still useful.
Signet of renewal
Remove the stunbreak give it to wild.
Active: Clear 3 condis on you and pet
Passive: Reduce incoming condition duration

If you are using the abyssal chill trait in corruption you can actually utilize sword/sword as a hybrid weaponset.-> very good for openworld as a backup set.
Staff gives more survivability and is better suited for harder content where long blocks and sustain is needed. Is staff good for any dps builds? I really like using it so far.
As i said its mainly for sustain and defense. The AA does less dmg than swords does. It has some healing build into it and a whirl finisher which goes nice with mallyx dark field for blinds.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
Yeah i wish they would swap it. I would use the venom trait over the immob trait just for the better sustain.
I dropped critical strikes for deadly arts just because of the new nice buffs we got. I hapoe they streamline it further.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
I can understand why someone is confused why stunbreaks dont work on immob, but the reason why was explained in post above mine.
But OP? Use cleanses in PvP and WvW and try not to run into roots again. Cleave the roots down if neccesary.
Dont say its OP if there are several easy ways to get arround immobs.

Because we have fixed utilities that is.
But it would actually would be sweet if we get racial skills on rev. Just as a general utility to slot in in every legend stance.

Jupp eactly. If you have the time and money take vipers, the condition duration on it leads to more stacking and thus more dmg.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
Actually sword OH and scepter could benefit if the block was a duration block and you just summon the phantasm on the first target that hit you first but keep blocking.
Would make the skill less clunky.

Demonic Defiance at the start of HoT had no 5 sec ICD effectively giving me 100% resistance uptime. It was in the middle of PVP Season 1 that the 5 sec ICD was added. Then after that before Season 2, the elementalist trait Diamond Skin was nerfed from immune to all condi above 90% health to is current iteration now.
I haven’t done the math yet but I’m pretty sure even with the reduced resistance per skill, removing the ICD will give revs almost near 100% resistance uptime even if you swap legends every 10 secs. With already having 70% resistance uptime with the new concentration items and the ability to give 20 stacks of torment or more, rage whispers from condi spammers have increased for me. Plus giving torment by effectively using any 6 to 0skills to proc DD will eventually turn us to a PVE/WVW shout reaper with runes of reaper, a 50 stack Torment monster instead of bleeds.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea. I’m all for no ICD with Demonic Defiance but…
TLDR: Anet doesn’t want any class to be immune to condi 100% since condi is thier new meta since Colin left.
I think he wants to streamline the whole thing. So you know you get resistance uf you want but you are limited from the energy part. It wouldnt give 100% resistance uptime as i perceived but rather resistance on demand without ICD.

Ventari isn’t available because the tablet really can’t work underwater.
Glint and Jalis, however, have no good reason as to why they’re not available. Ground target skills aren’t even an obstacle once you consider Necro wells (which are now usable underwater, but only as PBAoE).
This
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
Sounda well structured. The diabolic Inferno trait would be interesting if would deal a stack of burning per energy consumed. Mallyx could pulse burn this way and ventari condi builds would benefit from this too.
This would need some major balancing but it would increase mallyx compatabillity with other skills like abyssal chill does with swords.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
PS: fluuf please take a breath you seem easily triggered. Aand please go back playing pvp and wvw and stop expending so much time in raids…
Oh daaaaamn burn. Also https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_Bunker_Druid and all the way back to like 4 out of 5 years ago cuz eura also used it before druid. I mean every ranger before you ever has been wrong but you’re the true seer. You know best!
Edit: Actually now that I think about it I think dagger has been meta non-stop since game launch. At every major anet hosted tourney since launch I think there has been a dagger wielding ranger. I really can’t remember what spirit rangers wore but i think it was SB s/d if if i remember that time correctly, it all blurs together.
As a none Raider PvE and WvW player i can say that i have no clue about PvP and the before mentioned raids.
But wouldnt you agree that a weapon that only performs well in one game mode need some design improvements?
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
Well abyssal chill is good as it is with torment. It morphs swords into condi weapons with good power scaling and it should have some good competitive trait against it.
The longer conditions on the bolstered anguish seems reasonable. At the moment you just have them.to increase your torment stacks for one-two ticks, but i would stick with torment though instead of bleeds.
Did you made a concept for a new GM too or did i missed it?

With the quickness ’’buff’’ to Sword trait and ’’buff’’ to Axe trait that can be used on offhand now, S/A is a good option. Dagger has a mini evade that can be used with Sword trait to triggers Evade/Quickness more often.
I still have hard time manoeuvring Sword with all the back and forth. I just wish Sword 2 was a single leap (Monarch Leap) and to move Hornet Sting (Backward evade leap) after Serpent’s Strike, but that’s just me…
So, at the end of the day I just end up using GS because it has an easy leap and a block.
I know the idea of shuffling skills arround. I would actually like to see that serpent strike and stalker strike drom dagger change place. Stalker strike could be changed to a power skill that does more dmg under a certain health threshhold or when the target is crippled etc.
The skills should be arranged like this:
- monarchsleap-stalker strike chain
- hornet sting standalone
Dagger:
Crippling talon (hits miltiple targets)
And serpent strike (hits multiple targets)

The hammer weapon does feel a little odd to me right now, but I think this is less to do with numbers and more to do with how it doesn’t synergise with Jalis/Retribution and how it lacks a strong direction on its own.
For instance: the hammer right now has a bunch of slow-firing circumstantial plays that are cast out to a long range (more damage on far away foes, blast finishers, frontal projectile shields, knockdown &c.). However, the strongest play with Jalis right now is to use Vengeful Hammers, an activate-and-forget close range skill that fires quickly and is used to proc on-hit/on-crit effects. However the Retribution traitline has no such effects, making Jalis more attractive to Corruption users who have little use for a power hammer weapon.
These kinds of anti-synergies are all over these three elements of the Revenant class, and so I think we can’t adjust details like hammer autos until we resolve the broad strokes of how these pieces should fit together.
You actually have a good point there. How would you redesign jalis, retribution and the hammer as congruent theme? Jalis/retribution is ofcourse still more on the defensive side and hammer is still range.
At the moment i only thought of give hammer more cleave on auto to be viable in more close quarters.
Forced engagement needs to be some kinda AoE taunt and should have a block, similar to guardian 5, so you still can use other skills while active. Inspiring reinforcement could also tie into the all artound mechanic. So it could be circular in shape instead if a road and it pulses AoE Stability to allies and slow +weakness to foes.
So thats my approach on skills. For traits i am.kinda clueless though.

Could someone explain to me why Rune if the Grove has a 90s ICD on root? I mean druid has a 10s/20s ICD on ancient seed.
And why has Rune of Rata Sum a 90s ICD on the radiation field? Seriously the skill on its own has a lower CD.
Could Anet please Rework some runes like they did with the nightmare rune once ago?
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
I like how you thought this through. It could still give some trait conflict with abyssal chill. But otherwise i like it and i think mallyx could benefit from these changes overall.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
I was having so much fun leveling a guardian, loving the skills and all DH stuff, but after reading this forum i’m really scared!! Even though i like the class, i don’t want to play something that will be dead weight, refused in groups and left aside
Most people complain because guardian has better power capabbilities than condi. So guard has some disadvantage to other classes.
But never the less guard can do great and deal decent dmg with good survivability.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
Yeh maybe something in between Revenant and thief, From revenant the energy thing for the stances probably so you could activate those and have an upkeep in a similar way to glint revenant. That would make sense as otherwise each of the stances would have to be overcharged (and OP) thus you could keep more than one instance at the same time making the souldbeast to have the needed adaptability a melee dps class thief style without access to all that stealth, mobility and burst needs.
However still it is out of question ranger core class must be improved, not dps wise but do some houskeeping within the traits and skills to remove locking animations and wonky mechanics.
Agreeing on the later. Some utilities need improvements too. Signets need better actives and CD. Muddy terrain is a joke since 2012 and spirits need still some inprovements.
Traits are imbalanced and some just outperform in any game mode in comparison to others.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
An AA chain could solve a lot of things. The first 2 attacks just do damage and the third slows up to three targets. All attacks have a 3 target cap in a small radius.

Dagger is ridiculously bad in any sense
Oh good, more contrary nonsense from anduriell. Dagger hasn’t been the meta in PvP for, what, 2 years or something? But I’m sure you know more than the former pro league players and current top tier PvPers.
For PvP it has its uses because every other weapon isnt very PvP oriented. Axe roots you. Torch is not good in pursuit and the fire field is easy evadable. Warhorn isnt bad for PvP because of the debuffing and buffing.
Dagger has a snare and an evade. Its PvP oriented from the start, thats why it is indeed the most useful weapon in this game mode.
Despite this it has not really mobility, strong CC, burst or AoE capabbilities. Something all other weapons can provide or at least one point of these (except the mobility).
Thats the reason why dagger underperforms every other OH in the major part of the game and some improvements would be nice.
More cleave and more mobility could be sweet for dagger and as anduriell said great with sword.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
if it is condi i rage we need some real Power options instead of this broken nerfed kitten
Actually there is only one condi set for game and thats Mace/Axe so yeah it would make sense that it will be condi ranged. From the legend probably burn focussed.
But i still have to agree that the power sets need improvements.
Sword gets worse with more targets, hammer still has bugs and staff has a weak auto attack and the second skill is clunky as hell.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
Torch gives a nice firefield in melee range. Warhorn is very good in dealing dmg and giving buffs, axe is decent but the last skill leaves you vulnerable. Dagger gives good evades but lacks in AoE.
For condi OH: Stick with torch
Power OH: Warhorn or Axe

For PvE without question
For PvP, it depends on your playstyle and how you like to play entirely in PvP / WvW
I personally like the style of ranger, is it always viable in PvP / WvW throughout the course of Gw2 history, not always but it’s definitely fun.
As for roles, again this comes down to how you like to play. Power and condi are played very differently and I would say power relies much more heavily on positional play than condi.
Power is more invis heavy and again relies on position for defense
Condi is generally more tanky due to the stat combinations and evasion uptime from the common weapon sets (axe/dagger sword/torch).
You could try some hybrid variants, maybe celestial with something , but I’ve found the weapons just don’t synergize with this outside of staff / sword dagger.
Is there any purpose to boost for pvp? I mean you get all abbilities eitherway and all pets too.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
I have now tried running Condi Rev with Dev/Cor/Invo and ventari-shiro. With m/s and s/a. Glass gear.
Its pretty awesome for solo play. Projectiles no problem. Stuns no problem. Condis no problem. Good CC. Good DPS. And heck of a survability with perma fury.probably wvw? as in pvp ventari needs good healing state to be effective.
condi rev can be great if you manage to lock your enemy or surprise him .i couple of times kill a thief when i lure his dodges and boom lock him with fast immobilize UA mace. he died in ~3 sec while he teleport and stealth away….
No it was just PvE. I use the heal as a dmg mitigation and the projectile defence is glorious as ever.I actually use some hyvrid build with ferocity and condi dmg because i use swords. Its decent dmg with decent healing and cleanse.
Its far from.meta but a good jack of all trades build. Fun to play.
The resummoning is just an annoying factor after i run to far away from the tablet. They should put an auto resummon into the elite and remove the summon abbility it would be way practicle. For all game types.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
Actually i would like to see that improvisation resets the cd of the last skill used. It needs some ICD but it could be sweet for build making.
It could also work like quickdraw from ranger. After steal the next utility you use has a 66% reduced CD.

Not everything needs to stack.
Yeah i agree with you that not everything needs to stack. Swiftness, quickness, protection and resistance are fine without stacks. Aegis could be debated. But reatl is kinda meh at its state.
Maybe could do AoE dmg arround you after you get hit and a stack is removed. Make 10 stacks and you could actually do some kind of condi build with guardian.
I realize that I didn’t quite get my message across as best I could, but we’ll ignore that and continue this line of thought.
I’ve thought plenty about Retal and Aegis stacking, and I’m not sure what I’d like from them. Retal could definitely have a stacking mechanic that deals chunk damage when someone procs it, but then it wouldn’t be a defense against multi-strike attacks like it is now. I’ve made the connection before, but you have Retal and Aegis which defend against multi-strike and single spike damage respectively. You also have condition counterparts to those in Confusion and Blind. Confusion punishes multi-skill use while Blind negates single spike skills. Changing how the boons function would change their role in combat, and Retal has the potential to add a lot of damage over the course of a fight while (a guardian’s) Aegis also has the potential to drastically affect a fight. They each have a role to play and counterplay that can be used against them. I’m not sure if I’d want to change much more than numbers for either of the boons.
Well you get a point there. So just stacking intensity? It would be exactly as the confusion counterpart and it would help against multiple strikes. What if retal actually reflects dmg? So more stacks you get the bigger is the dmg reflected and the bigger is the dmg received.
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
+150 condition damage
+50% condition duration. Can we lose the condition duration for something else? Condition duration seems very redundant half the time and condi’s never really last before they are cleared or flipped.
Like how about something interesting lol. Something that adds a bit of function to the scepter. Some GM weapon traits on classes give knockdown, or piercing or some other stuff.
Maybe a knockback or some other type of hard cc.
And why give scepter a GM trait? Shouldn’t GM’s be reserved for two handed weapons? I think Staff should have a GM trait with some beefy bonuses.
what do you guys think?
I would say mesmer scepter trait is worse. This gives you 50% more condi duration, thats awesome for condi playstyle.

Our signature boons already clash with each other (you don’t do retaliation damage if you block an attack). Just another brilliantly designed aspect of guardian.
Yeah they should change retal to en effect that reflects dmg that would be done, regardless of blocking. If you evade it makes kinda sense that you do no dmg but not with blocking.

I think I’ve seen DPS charts that say rabid does more damage that rampager on a condi ranger in PvE.
Thats becaus erampager is more precision and less condi in comparison to rabid.
Sinister is basically the way to go except you wanna crit more often.

alacrity – so good you dont know how. reduced the cd on staff skills, shield skills and ventari skills so more spammable if you preserve tour nrg.
sure it could be retaliation (goes along with jalis trait line) maybe.
The placement if the alacrity trait is still weird and the visuals are cancer if you wanna go colorwise.
the visualization of alacrity is mesmery like. during fights with all that is going on i hardly see any class skills (like ele earth aura and more)
if alacrity could regen also nrg faster than it could be great for revenant as alacrity increase the rate of skills cd (so put it also on nrg or ini (for thieves)i just look on the icon of the bar that’s it
Actually a unique buff that increases energy regen (for any class resource and endurance) would be interesting.
The pink mist just looks aweful when running arround solo. They could just keep the visual on the mesmers alacrity and remove it from rev.

As the signature boons from guardians i thought about retal and aegis lately. What if retaliation can stack in intensity and aegis can stack blocks?
Retaliation would be easyier to handle and would have some impact, 5 stacks would be enough (5*0.075*power).
Aegis is a rather delicate idea but 3 stacks would be reasonable and it would give guardian the tanking capabbilities we wanted.
Opinions?

To all those who want the tablet to follow the rev doesn’t understand how amazing it is to have a source of healing that is so mobile. It can literally go anywhere within LoS. Other professions simply don’t have a healing mechanic that versatile. Sure it can be feel clunky at times, but if you put some effort into it, you’ll find it’s super handy for your own sustain and others.
Personally, I love the tablet mechanic. It’s unique within the game (not unique to the game however), and it’s a lot less restricting then so many players think. It’s healing is pretty kitten good too. And just like any support build, its effectiveness is often based on how good the players you are supporting are. If they keep dodging away from the tablet, let them die. It’s definitely not a pug friendly mechanic, but I think it’ll have a lot of use in organized groups with a few QoL changes.
Yeah i changed my mind too in this regard and have to say that the mobile tablet is very versatile. The dying tablet on the other hand is not.
A good QoL would be that the tablet teleports to you when you are to far away from it, like a ranger pet does. This is just mainly because of the annoying resummoning .
9 Sylvari, 9 unique Builds.
based on the class mechanic and the icons i assume there are three possibilities in which direction the skills are going:
- Spectral (Lifeforce for Soulaspect)
-Minions
-Stances
Spectral skills would be straightforward and propably similar to the weaponskills with the spirit pets.
Heal: Heal and gain Lifeforce when struck
1. Utility: Gapcloser and gain lifeforce (This would be sweet)
2. Utility: idk
3. Utility. Apply Boons and gain lifeforce when striking
4. Remove Conditions and gain Lifeforce per condition
5. Beastmode (similar to lichform a transform)
Minions could interact with the pet mechanic. I thought of a concept that the pet merges with the ranger and petswap and pet command are now interacting with the “aura” activation and swapping and the spirit summoning and commanding. Similar to berserker the class mechanic interacts with the utility mechanic, only in this case the utilities are the class mechanic and not vice versa.
Minions would be just like what the utilities resembles.
bear: With some cleansing
Moa: with some healing/buffing
Wolf. pack a punch
Eagle: maybe more than one
Vulture: Condi minion
etc.
Stances could be just upflavoured warrior stances that give profession mechnic energy, cleanse, buff, let evade etc.

I have played a little more ventari know and i have to say its starting to get a lot smoother now and a following tablet is not needed in combat. Its best played with action cam though.
I still have some improvement points.
-Remove the destruction of the tablet. the tablet gets resummoned near the rev after Elite was activated. I would keep the new energy consuming effect so you still would be a little bit more vulnerable after the elite.
-Put a stunbreak on Puryfing essence (teamstunbreak).
-Change alacrity to some other buff. It doesnt fit theme wise and its visually unappealing. it doesnt fit into the legend either.
→ I would change serene rejuvination to:
Everytime you blind a foe or block an attack you get a stacking buff that increases healing power. Simillar to Natural Mender of druid.
Sure this would need some balancing but it would bring ventari to a desired level.
