So we have seen that Weaponskills get ammunition mechanic.
What does that mean exactly?
Ammunition mechanic will drop with the big balance change together with a major trait overhaul and the barrier mechanic.
It functions like this: You have charges on skills and you can use them without a CD, but with a recharge rate of the charges itself. Lets say throw torch has 2 charges and a 8s ICD. You can use tgrow torch twice in a row but have to wait the ICD of 8s to get a new charge.

Are there some speculations you would give which ranger skill gets this new mechanic?
Id say throw torch, crippling talon, poison volley, crippling shot, huntersshot, wintersbite and path of scars are perfect candidates.
Id would improve this skills without much if a change (path of scares needs bug fixes though).
Any other opinions.

I am a little excited. Mainly because of the higher skill counts and variety and the possibility to finally make a decent poison ranger.

Yeah it’s already been heavily discussed.
A few things though:
Merged mode is on a toggle, so you can camp merged mode, while dead or alive you need to build up the Berserk Mode, so there are ‘counters’ to that, while the Soulbeast ‘equivalent’, can’t counter that other than try to kill to proc it and kill again
Also, the 90s is from the PvP area, it’s highly possible it has a different CD or Effect or Coefficients in PvE
I do agree that if it IS the final version for all game modes, it’s a little underwhelming… With that CD, I’d add some 2 stacks, 3s stab, and maybe 1.5s Resistance or something
Shprtening the ICD to 60s would be good actually. Dead or alive has half the ICD but a berserker can be in Berserker mode very fast and often. Which is more or less half the uptime beastmode has.

Force engagement:
AoE taunt and block for some seconds. Would give it more area effects and a more useful place in pvp.

I like the SB elite spec concept for Revenant, but Revenant still really, really needs a new core weapon option, and arguably a new core legend too..
They just don’t have enough fluidity in their gameplay.

I thought the “interval” of this skill was 1s, but in fact, it is 0.5s so that would bring the poison stacks capable up to 30 the same as Spider Venom. But you still have to have 5 people hit every 0.5s for the whole duration for that to happen, Spider Venom allows 24s to do the same for the same effect.
Bear and Dolyak Stances are amazingly good, Wolf is possibly very good if the interval is not too long. Griffon is kinda… Dunno. Maybe if the Might stacks had a longer duration.
I wonder if wolf would proc the vulture stance? This could be very sick in a group.environment.

For sword they just should make hornet sting a standalone skill and chain monarchsleap with the remaining skill together.
Speak for yourself, I did not want a condi weapon. I wanted a new power weapon that would help us be able to actually have a melee spec where we can stand toe to toe with others in pvp instead of hide and seek pew pew. Maybe soulbeast will aid in this, maybe not.
Sword needs no changes.
Role of power melee is basically covered with GS. It needs buffs though.
My suggestion on sword would sword give an evade on demand, a gap closer on demand and it would be full power melee mainhand weapon. Atm sword has good skills but not in the right layout.

Id say, we should wait for the test weekend and see.
I personally can understand why there are draw backs of being in beastform. Beastform has no time limit and thus you can play petless but you can also utilize your pet out of beastform.
But i am concerned about the shouts and the signet effects in beastforms. The boons are kinda a sacrifice i assume.

Am i the only one really disappointed because mirage is a condi spec?… I bet I am not the only one who was hoping for a power dps spec this expansion :/ I mean we already have condi play on the base mesmer… we lack a proper power spec.
But WP showed in his stream that they balanced alot of stuff ( condi reaper -> power reaper) maybe they will rework base mesmer to be a power spec?
dont throw your hopes away for now. we get ambush skills everytime we go into mirage cloak which can be done very frequently it seems and i assume you get power based ambush-burst skills from power weapons. It has a condi melee weapon but it was the weapon that was missing from mesmer so i am not surprised.
For now i looks just bursty in general and can be used for both. All the utilities are centered arround deception and cloaking.

For druid everyone complained about the lacking synergy and at the moment we get a weapon we wanted (melee condi) with condis that helps stacking our core condis a leap with quickness, people complain….
Dagger offhand could use some love though.
The evade skill would be sweet if they swap it with swords serpent strike. And the old skill is now on sword and pure power based.
Give the dagger throw an immob and we are good.

Before HoT guardians did have tomes. That got removed instead of simply fixed. We were told we would get them back. Now we are- but we just have to pay for it. I’m sorry but any way I look at that it seems wrong to me. As a guardian main since launch am I the only one who feels this way?
They actually stated that tomes will eventually come back in an E-spec and not as anew core skill. They kept their word. I dont know why people always whine about such arbitrary stuff.

SUMMARY
New weapon: Dagger mainhand.
New skill type: Stances.
New profession mechanic: Soulbeast will be able to gain the abilities of their pet.Opinions?
We also get the abbility of the pets archetype. This means smoke assault and snoke field on smokescole for instance. Or poisonfield from spiders etc.
I hope dagger is kinda power based but the spec itself is capable of being played hybrid. I always wanted poison ranger and boooooii i am gonna get it, it seems.

Every weapon of ele can cover power and condi. The elements themself have either a condi or a power affinity.
For staff i would use power because the hard hitting stuff is power based.
You can also use vipers gear which is full glassy gear which is strong for condi and power.

D/D auramancer (mender amulet, W/E/T). Offensive enough in the right scenario:
As i mentioned i am not looking for a pvp build.
But i have found a gear that could work quite well. Soldier armor and rabit ascended trinkets with dura rune. Has about 2000ish power and about 900-1000 condi dmg.
I swapped air with earth though. I get use of geomancers training and protection on aura and some condi cleanse

The only point why the hammer is one of the most effective range weapons is that nothing on the weapon is a projectile except the AA.
Ranger LB can do waaaaaaaay more dmg, like 12k AA but all of tge attacks are projectiles.
Rev hammer isnt countered by reflects. Its countered through movement.

At least they could put jalis underwater and glint for herald.
This would fix a lot of stuff. I doubt that they will put an additional underwater weapon on rev.

Weapon is probably melee condi cleave. Only role missing we miss on our weapon set. Id say it will be MH.
Hopefully it is designed arround distortion evade and buffs from that. I wanted to build an over evasive mesmer since i build be near perma block DH.
Maybe it has actually a support role (chrono counted as control spec).
So you can grant evasion and stealth buffs, have new shatters etc etc that improve survivability of your comrades. So.kinda an indirect support which is not based arround healing.

Support wise is guardian outclassed by tempest, druid, chronos and herolds.
Mace is a very nice weapon on the defensive site and has good blocking and sustain capabbilities. Focus too.
For WvW you need some mobility and projectile deflect so think about looking into sword and shield.
Staff is technically the support weapon of the guardian but its a little lackluster atm and needs some love.
But yes you can run support guardian if you want and it can be effective with some exersize.

The movement part is fine. As far as it goes, the only change I’d like to see would be increasing Ventari’s Will range to 1500 (full leash range).
The primary needs of Ventari are:
- Better traits – Salvation traits are terrible. If you want Tablet to bring respectful healing, you dedicate all the trait tiers to increasing your outgoing healing modifier. If the legend is built around having high modifiers and doesn’t work without them, bake as many as you can into Minor traits in the supporting specialization. Give the traitline some new things that can enhance support Revenant, rather than trying to stuff overbloated Ventari’s Elite with it.
- Visible Tablet radius outlier – A request dating back to HoT betas that would be a major buff to Ventari without changing any numbers, yet still not here for whatever reason. Tablet’s effective radius is so small that allies NEED to see it. There’s no work-around, unless you want to triple the radius of it. Untill this change happens, Tablet will forever feel clunky, because allies who are not coordinated will be missing on heals without knowing about it.
- Possible radius increase from 240 to 280 or 300.
- A defensive skill on Ventari’s set. Probably the best candidate for it is Protective Solace (the bubble). That skill is not that much fun for either side when it works (everlasting projectile deflection is not a great design) and it’s absolutely useless when there are no projectiles (besides niche Light Field uses, which in my opinion, are wasting energy). Be it a stunbreak, anti-focus tool, whatever.
- Possible changes to how Regeneration boon operates – Support Revenant with the modifiers brings the strongest Regeneration possible in-game by far, yet it will more often than not get overwritten by much worse versions provided by Tempests or Chronomancers due to short duration.
On the traits:
Yes bake healing modifiers into minors.
But: Remove the alacrity one into a major. If you want to use the traitline for a none ventari build (even if not that often), you have no use for a trait that only applies to the tablet.
Yes to the radius.
I would like to see the stunbreak on purifying essence and a water field on protective solace. Protective solace should have an effect on deactivation, something like a daze.
This way you could have ranged protection or melee interrupt.

Because most chronotanks these days are running Minstrel’s gear and spam their Well heal off cd for alacrity + 100% phantasm regen uptime. I still don’t think they outheal a Druid tho. Maybe a Viper dr00d.
As ranger main i can say that full healingpower druid has biggest burst heal potential but lacks of sustain and needs to run staff for healing.
Ventari is pretty much on par with druid and has better accessability to heals.
Tempest has best PbAoE sustain in the game and support chronos are good sustain healers too but they cannot compeed with ventari or druids burstwise.

Just saying condi ranger. You dont need staff to be effective, staff is best for healing though and has great mobility.

Sword 2 new skills plus 1 new skill for every MH and OH combination. And maybe a new skill for the two handed weapons, because of the 2 elements on 1 weapon. Plus utilities, heal and elite.

GS is cleave and good for multiple targets.
Dagger has a good immob and lifedrain.
Axe is single target mid range and is your range weapon.

Pretts every class can be good for openworld content. For guardian just look that you either kill it fast, never get hit (permablock)or run some vitality and you will be fine.

Why should anybody vomit on that? Its just a normal balanced build which isnt meta.
I myself play rev with seraphic gear. Shiro-Ventari with invo/destro/corr and ice sigils and runes for torment.
Its a solid build. Not top tier dmg, not top tier healing but as long as you can solo HP in auric basin its decent dont you think?
Free building is the best part of this game so i am glad not everyone is running for meta.

Arcane are in them self an effect i am not sure making them into auras would work out right. If any thing arcane shield needs to be a duration block not a number hit block.
Over all the older arcane skills do need a fix that anet has not touched out side of cd.
Arcane shield needs to be a duration block say 3 to 2 sec with some type of big hit at the end of it.
Arcane wave needs to be a double blast / double hit.
Arcane blast needs to be a ammo shot kind of like a mantra but not precast say 3 shots.
Arcane Brilliance needs to have a condi clear for each person you hit with it. Condi clear is something arcane skills are missing and it fits so well with the aggressive way this skill works for healing.I love to see a full viable arcane ele.
I agree that arcane skills need improvements and i would like to see a full arcane ele too.
The arcane shield suggestion is good with the duration block i personally would ramp up the number of blocks possible and as i suggested make arcane shield count as an aura.
The stunbreak would be shared with aurashare, the block would be shared and the detonation afterwards. With the 50s CD this isnt OP but could be very sweet for support ele.

The one with the traps is not quiet clear. FT needs love though.
The trap trait could actually do something actively like laying down a spiketrap when disabled. And frosttrap could use a CD reduction and a pull.
Muddy terrain should work like the leap skill on mallyx from rev or stomp from warrior.

Not having a red colored legend is a bit odd, but I don’t mind the legends having distinctive colors tied to them. Being able to turn off the arm glow would be a nice option.

I personally dont have a problem with my fashion style with the glow because i use a dark greenish sylvari with red and light green accent which fits perfectly with ventari and shiro.
But i can definetly understand why this should be toggable.

I think in wvw it could be pretty good since retal hits pretty hard.
for pve, eh I think going for dps would be your best bet since mobs don’t really hit all that often.
I play solo PvE, this also counts for soloing champs. So pure dps isnt my best bet.

I wonder what if arcane shield is an aura?
Its a pretty useful skill but i havent seen it in all of the popular builds these days because of the auramancer synergies together with tempest. These huilds basically demand shouts.
So my suggestion is: Arcane shield clarified as an aura.
This could be useful in raids, fractals PvP and general PvE.
Any opinions?

In Ranked PVP you play an auramancer as anything other than what its intended for everyone will hate, curse at you a lot and question the lineage of your mother. Don’t be that guy.
That depends. I do quite well (gold 3 1440 rating is my high point so far this season, up from gold 1 1207 placement) using a modified auramancer build. I typically go for less condi cleanse (unless up against a total condi bomb team), more direct heals/support via auras (powerful auras), and more damage output by using dagger off-hand and harmonious conduit to ensure better overload success rate.
I wouldn’t say it’s common to top damage with this build (although it does happen in some matches where I had no chance of that using the d/f meta build), but I can burst quite effectively in team fights while also providing strong healing to my team.
Just played two matches before work and got top damage and heals in both games, although the second game my team seemed pretty lacking as I was somehow able to pull 34% team damage (380k) and 57% heals (685k). But I went 15 and 0 and we lost by less than 100 points. Not bad, considering. And I certainly didn’t see anyone throwing any hate my way!
So, I guess it depends how “offensive” you want to be as an auramancer. If you stay focused primarily on healing but want to at least represent some sort of threat beyond that in team fights, I think you can pull that off by deviating slightly from the meta.
Egoistic auramancer build for PvE mainly was what i was thinking about. Aura spam, good boon and aurahealing uptime and decent dmg.
I just have no clue what gear i should use atm.
I will look into the metabuilds and deviate a little bit from them.

Marauder, cavalere and knights gear.
Focus and mace for blocks. Shield for projectiles.
For strong improvements on survivability i would suggest to concentrate on aegis and blocks.
In the right hands you can be upright invincible.

I would like to see something like phoenix or envoy of exuberance.
Both are unblockable and not projectiles too ! It’s the reason why they come back to the player without being lost in the way.
Giving it a 240 radius on landing like Phoenix and Envoy of Exuberance would be nice, indeed.
Maybe give it a mini Daze instead of Pull if too OP with unblockable. That way, it would work more easily with Moment of Clarity.
I like the effect as it is. But it would be kinda balanced if it would be blockable but not reflectable/destructable and thus count not as a projectile.
As woundrouswall suggested the radius increase would definetly improve this skill.
For axe #5 we still need movement while using this skill. Furthermore i would suggest to change the retaliation boon on this skill to something different. No idea atm unfortunately.

I play a lot on my Ventari rev and definitely get frustrated about its speed sometimes. You can only predict so much of people’s movements, and it often feels like half of my heals are wasted due to not catching allies in time, or them deciding to change their path as it approaches them. I don’t necessarily like the idea of it teleporting because I think that could make it too powerful and just feel a little weird, but I think at the very least increasing the movement speed of it would be a huge help. An increased radius on the skills (300 rather than 240) would alleviate some issues as well.

Skaal, skelk, windriders, desert devourer, golden moa etc.
I would love to see all of them in the game but first i would like that they improve on the core pets and rebalance them, especcially the CD of the abbilities and the cast times.

Maybe it should then be something like “In each legend, gain a significant amount of stat for another legend”? As in, Ventari could for example give Power, Jalis could give Healing, etc?
Or maybe: Gain power based on stat:
Ventari: Healing power to power. (traits that improve outgoing healing should improve healing power for the percentage amount, so 10% improved outgoing healing is 10% more healing power.)
Shiro: Precision to power
Jalis: Toughness to power
Mallyx: Condi to power
Glint: Vitality to power

While we’re at it, the amount of healing modifiers we have and their high percentages is staggering.
It’s like Ventari heals for naught at all before you take the… is it 4 traits? And they each give 20%-25% extra healing power, plus there’s another 15% from a minor trait in Salvation.
It’s a bit annoying. I’d rather have more healing power in the baseline so taking traits other than the simple “Here, have +20% healing output” ones feels better.
I mean, some are interesting. Better healing after swapping a legend for example wants you to use the non-Ventari legend, too. I get that. But there’s ones like the Grandmaster one which just exists to fix the otherwise meh healing power scaling on our heals, and those I’d rather see removed entirely and replaced.
Example for the last part:
Selfless Amplification -> Salvation by Force
While invoking Ventari, gain significant Power, Precision, Ferocity, Condition Damage and Expertise based on your Healing Power.
Healing Power to offensive stats: 25%.This would be more interesting. You still would do terrible damage overall, but you’d not be entirely toothless when cornered, and it’d be interesting for raid-healers to take, too.
The idea is somewhat interesting. But its still legend specific. Somewhat that effects rev in general plus has an improved effect in the specific legend is what we discuss.

I think Nefarious Momentum would be another one to add to this list. Two might for ten seconds seems a really poor return for using some rather expensive skills.
What if this was a flat damage boost for using a skill with an energy cost, but following the same idea, it is better (either more damage or longer boost) when you use an assassin stance skill?
Example: Gain 250 power and 150 ferocity for 5 seconds when you use a skill with an energy cost; gain 500 power and 150 ferocity for 10 seconds when you use an assassin stance skill.
I don’t know to what level this skill should boost your damage, but seeing as it is more of a ‘selfish’ trait than assassin’s presence, I think it should give you a larger personal damage boost.

We need better power. I’m sick of the Condi nonsense spreading into everything. I’m showing clear bias of course but that’s just how I feel.
Fixing and improving power weapons would benefit the class more than just a new power weapon.
I wish they had made GS a thing for the invocation line and made it Range Condi (a role it hasnt in the game yet).
If they did that we had a full set of weapon roles and they could go power with the new E-Spec.
