I’d also like to address the complaint of “kicking ranger when its down”. This is silly. Ranger is good in 1v1’s, and is lacking in teamfights. nerfing/fixing this problem is not going to make ranger better or worse in either of these situations.
Calling others delusional when you havent exactly got your facts straight isnt exactly nice either. Also the pet isnt “dead” it’s in a “defeated state” just like many NPCs which then essentially walk around in an “out of combat” mode.
I’m sorry for coming off as mean, but the general response wasn’t exactly friendly either
why do non ranger players always come to these forums to get a blaise class nerfed down?
Ive NEVER seen that happen to my ranger when my pet is dead.
I actually main a ranger, but I was playing on my guardian today and I noticed it. It’s clearly not working as intended, and just because you haven’t noticed it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. I’ll try to get a screenshot
Really?
Yeah, the current state of thief is ridiculous. I main a guardian and in sPvP and I build pretty tanky.
Sounds about right..
Yeah, I main a guardian in sPvP, but I run a Ranger in PvE and World Versus World. Even if I didn’t main a ranger, what difference would it make? My eyesight would still be the same and game balance would still be in mind… logic much?
Really.
My bad, I’m at school currently and I don’t have access to the game client. I’m just saying that it doesn’t make sense for the dead pet to still absorb cc’s. I apologize for my missed accuracy.
However, attacking me for not having the cooldown right is toxic and non-productive. We should be focusing on the fact that this isn’t working as intended, or making sense.
For any good rangers, keeping the pet alive/managing your petswap is a non-issue anyways, and unless they are focusing on your pet this shouldnt be a problem.
If your pet is dead…
SWAP PETS.
Ranger is about pet-management, like it or not. That isn’t going away, ever. However, rangers being able to ignore any cc infinitely on a 10 second ICD regardless of the fact that the pet can be dead, and therefore there is no downside to taking the trait.
Anybody defending this bug or insulting me with false xenophobic statements is frankly delusional, because this isn’t working as intended.

Currently shared anguish mitigates CC’s even when the pet is at zero health. Not sure if this is a bug, but this really needs to be nerfed/fixed, because as is things are a little ridiculous.
IMO mesmer is the toughest to learn
I really like the toxic enemies, and I feel like the other npcs should be brought up to the same level as the toxic enemies, because they use condis extensively, dodge attacks, have access to more ablilities, and need t be finished, at which point you need to finish them or cleave them down before an ally comes and scares you off.
I think that my thief looks decent, although the body shape is wrong because I was previewing it on my warrior… Shadow assassin outfit looks good on females, human and norn racial armor + some of the sneak thief armor skins look good too. Mix and match dungeon skins to your liking as well
I think you’ll find that was 15.5k damage.
okay, so you have no condi cleanse, dodged or mitigated none of the damage, basically just let him hit you. Most builds give you 13-20k health anyways, plus you have a heal that goes for anywhere from 2-6k.
this is a L2P problem
He opened on you for 10k… Whats your point?
How do I counter it? The meta dagger pistol build has a lotta daze, and I’m not sure how im supposed to do anything about it, seeing as it only lasts long enough to interrupt a skill and I cant cleanse it, and the fact that it seems to daze on shadowstep makes it hard to avoid.
I’m not asking for nerf, but some help would be appriciated.
Thanks
Anet isn’t forcing people to have a tank or dedicated healer. They are adding incentives to it, but that makes sense, seeing as running around at 10k health and living shouldn’t be a thing for all but the highest of skilled players. If you are REALLY GOOD this change shouldn’t impact you, but that’s it. Being able to run full zerker should be seen as prestigious, done only by the top 1% of skilled players, not just the fastest way to blaze through content
dont… save yourself the time
the ranking system is getting revamped at Hot anyways
WOW the necro is real with this one… Why would you post in this thread when nothing else here is relevant?
you have had 1 year of content that f2p players haven’t had. There will be no refund
Fun? I mean, thats why people play games in the first place…
Anyways, Hot is going to have a good story, elite specs, masteries, revamped fractals, raids, and legendary backpacks and armor, as well as revamped pve, new WvW borderlands, and a new pvp gamemode… But if you don’t enjoy it you don’t have t play… It would be a waste of time to leave tho
I want to cross a thief with a PU mesmer
As long as your ui changes don’t give an unfair combat advantage and your chat macros don’t preform more than one button press at a time you should be ok
Just… Just buy one
If you have been playing for three toward you should have had more than enough good to buy a precourser…
You can create an account on an EU if you want to, they are F2P
I’d be in favor of having it apply stability for the duration of the cast time, or making it not root you, but that’s the only buff it needs
your shouts are for early team support, 10 second ticks are good for the long fight.Eityher way, the five people who youd be helping wouldnt benifit if they were against 30 people anyways. Against 30 people, who lives through that? Also, who gets hit by theworld boss hits? Like, really?
I’d love it if we just shouted: “No Hands!” after we finish an auto attack chain
well, a full heal is nothing to scoff at… It works really well if you take sanctuary and maybe hold the line, and that works really well because of the amount of bursts that get wasted on you. I run signet of courage in sPvP alll the time, you just need to build utilities around it. It has no place in a non-tanky build anyways, because even w/sanctuary up you will still get hit by cleaves, aoe’s, and offensive shouts, so you will need to survive those in order to get it off anyways
I think that there should be more rage from warrior over shock shield, on account of the lower cd, longer block, and the damage while blocking
Also greatsword has 2 condi cleanses and retaliation+regen on it, sooo
Yes, because one of the top three classes in the game needs buffs
Maybe with Druid it will come… maybe they pulled a daredevil on us
There would be so much rage if thats the case. I cant imagine that that would be good for anets PR
Thats why you take sanctuary…
It is useful for team support because of AOE psssive healing, and sanctuary is great for either signet of courage or waiting for your cd’s to come off. It is really useful for my playstle actually
Yeah, the current state of thief is ridiculous. I main a guardian and in sPvP and I build pretty tanky. I run fighter runes and barbarian amulet which sure, gives me power, but is not as competitive by far as other builds, and I can kill most thieves with 3 of my greatsword skills and my auto attack only. You giys just melt if I can land an interrupt+CC(Basically what greatsword 5 is). I feel dirty whenever I have to play against one. Not to say that thief CANT be good, but it requires such a massive amount of skill to play on par with other classes. I don’t know what anet is doing with thief nerf after thief nerf, but I feel sick
Ranger lost moving spirits and thrown traps.. I hope we get them back with druid
There is also a character in league of legends called braum who is a norse strongman with a shield and mace and is really strong
Bump for hope…
Human Necros are good because of reaper of grenth and the reaper pec
The only elite spec that is a straight upgrade is the chronomancer, but everything else comes down to play style and preference. Remember that to take one spec you have to leave another one, so most of the meta will stay relevant
With some tweaks the guardian bunker build from PvP on metabattle would carry over pretty well for team support
Twilight pls?
lol, but I would looove a harp
So far, I’ve done pretty well with it in PvP, although I have trouble with sustain ele’s and turret engis. If you are playing ranked replace “Save Yourselves!” with “Hold The Line” in order to get your signet heal off.
Basically, burst them down with sword, and then go to mace/focus, “Retreat”, and virtue of courage until your greatsword comes off of cooldown.
Overall I have had a lot of fun with this, and although your success will vary with skill level, I feel like this is an effective build and can be played competitively.
Criticism? Comments? Questions?
That seems kinda silly, I should be able to kill any class, and not be hard countered or pigeon-holed into zerkmeta… that’s really disappointing actually
Basically I’ve been doing fairly well in unranked so far, and can 1v2 for a reasonable amount of time. However, in 1v1’s against eles and healing field engis. I think that my problem is lack of knockback and interrupt.
My rotation is: GS 4 into GS 3 into GS 5 + GS 5 again into GS 2
After that I pop focus 5, mace 2, focus 4, and then mace 3
^ this is basically just me sustaining until my greatsword skills come back out. If I get low I use sanuctary and then signet of courage, but most experienced eles know to launch me if they see me doing that.
I’m wondering what I can do gameplay-wise to beat them. I like building tanky/sustain, and I like my greatsword + mace/focus, and I think my traits are pretty good for a tanky style, but I just cant seem to kill staff eles because their healing is nuts… Even after all I said, Im open to any suggestions. Help?
Not going to happen… It is pretty easy to break combat, especially as an ele, so giving out of combat weapon swap is a form of buff. Also consider that they didnt include it already, meaning that they consider it OP
I think the main issue with the game is tied into how quickly you hit level cap, which is fine to have a casual player hit 80 in 5-12 days and all.
But most people have an expectation that once there the game will change sort of, and it really doesn’t. I hit 80 then I go back and clear low level for completion, do the same jump puzzles I could do at lv1, be the same power in spvp as I was at lv1, I could participate in endgame dungeons/raids (soon) but that’s a small aspect and the weakest part of the game mechanically.
To be fair I really like a lot of these “negative aspects” like being able to enjoy lv15 zones at 80 without it being 100% worthless snooze fest due to over power.
The definite thing that feels off…and almost lack luster. You hit level 80. Now you have access to endgame pve instances which isn’t this game strong suit…and otherwise…you just do the same stuff you did before only your 80 now.
They need to devise a mechanic, something to get really excited for, and something I can only do at lv80 that I really want to do between clearing old maps, jumping around stuff, and doing the same pvp ive been doing all game.
Not an easy thing to do mind you. But I think this is the missing ingredient of the game. Anet seems creative enough, and if bucking the trend with mmorpgs is their thing, this is something I think they need to look into. I don’t have an answer, maybe raids will help somewhat.
I think there needs to be something like Guild dungeons with guilds stocking their dungeons with mobs using special currency they farm. Then have other guilds able to raid said dungeons to steal currency if they make it to the end, while the owning guild can personally defend it too. Something with a metagame aspect and politics involved. “hey 10 guys form guild xyz just entered our dungeon we need 10 people asap to go defend” or “hey we need more guild tokens forming a party to raid guild xyz’s dungeon” or “thanks everyone we have enough currency to hire this fractial boss to guard our dungeon!”
you… you mean… like…
MASTERIES?!?!?!?!?
yeah, sms works great for me, the texts come instantly anyways
You could try Woodenpotatoes permadeath rules, or at least some of the restrictions like no heal, dodge, or armor uprgades
