If you want to entice Commanders to lead then encourage them, follow them, help them and don’t abuse those who do tag up. If a commander doesn’t know what to do, offer advice and support.
This.
It is usually those that abuse the commanders that whine because there isn’t a tag on the map. As far as tipping or any of that, I generally send whatever catapults & rams I get to whatever commander that has the misfortune of ending up with me.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
No, no, no. This was the same problem in GW1. Presets are the fix for people who can’t figure out builds.
No, it’s about being able to change your load out to fit different situations without having to carry 2 or 3 sets of armor and then finding a place where you can swap them out along with the traits & utilities. As far as GW1 goes, I had a very specific build used in exactly one place and it was so much easier to click & load the named build than spend time trying to remember what it was.

Liked running with some of the [VII] wrecking crew enough from when AR was linked that I finally bit the bullet & left the server I’d been on since beta.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
I still think removing links would be a mistake as it will once again create several tiers with dead matchups. If a poll is to come up, I’ll be voting to continue with it.
True and for some servers, it will go back to being just as bad if not worse than before the link. How many people left the linked servers for whatever reason and how many will actually return if the linking is removed? I finally left the server I had been on since beta and have no plans to ever return, especially if the link is removed.

…
As stated above, guilds are not tied to servers……Then why are these guilds divided into server locations?
And why do guilds specify which server they are on so you can participate in WvW.
One even told me I had to be on the same server to interact with individual members otherwise I’d never see them while wandering around a location!
In the beginning of the game, guilds were tied to a specific server for both PvE and WvW. Due to mega server for PvE, now it doesn’t matter where the guild is, all members can interact. Guilds are still server specific for WvW and while you might be in the guild, unless you are either on that specific server or are linked, you will not be able to interact with the members of that guild in WvW (unless you are on an opposing server). This is why you will see guilds advertise what server they are on for WvW purposes.
As far as that website, I can only assume you have to register your guild on it or it hasn’t been updated in Lord knows when. [METL] has been on Anvil Rock since beta and has never moved but yet it isn’t listed. Crystal Desert has [VII] and that isn’t listed either.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Sounds interesting. But what would stop someone with a one person guild claiming the PvE event for himself before a large guild can claim it?
Nothing….which is the same thing that is stopping a large guild from splitting up and trying to see how many they can claim before a small or one person guild can claim anything.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
It would be nice to know for sure who will be linked with who. Makes helping out the linked server(s) better.
All it would do is give a heads up as to where to bandwagon next for the next couple of months. It’d be nice to see something that shows how many people stay on the linked server as opposed to move when the link changes. It’ll never happen of course but it would be interesting to see.

I really don’t understand the appeal of player housing in MMOs.
In single player games, like the Elder Scrolls series, it’s basically a substitute for the bank – somewhere you can store items you want to keep but don’t want in your inventory all the time. With the added bonus that you can place them within the house so they look decorative. Or at least that’s how I always used it.
In this game we have the bank to store items so the only use I can see for housing would be a space you personally can decorate instead of one you have to share with your guild. And to me that suggests that I’d get it, get a bunch of decorations, place them and then….never go back to it until I’ve unlocked a bunch of new decorations.
I did the same in the Elder Scrolls…it was just a place to stash stuff I wanted to keep but not drag around. I have the SWTOR equivalent of a house and I put three maybe four decorations up and never set foot in the place again. Only reason I even used the house in Aion was because the the bonus for extra xp regenerated faster by parking a character there instead of leaving out in the world somewhere.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
No offense to the good people of AR, but I don’t think there is a lower pop server than AR…
I have no way of proving it, but I feel that Kaineng could give them a run for the money, possibly also ET
This is why I’ve kept saying we should make a “Bronze League!” aka “Thumbleweed league” with AR+Kain+ET for those that wants that old bronze authentic feeling.
I don’t even know how many are even left on AR any more. There are only two guild tags for sure that I know are AR based and a lot of the people in one are also in the other.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
well maybe then the tp system need a rework since it allows people to exploit and leech from it, maybe every mat should go vendor route and gold be replaced by activity specific tokens. think unbound magic but used to buy everything per map.
and add direct trade kitten it was in gw1.
Not an exploit, but capitalism at its finest and working as intended. You want to complain, take it up with all of the “gotta have it now” people that are keeping the price high. It will only go as high as somebody is willing to pay for it and has the coin to do so. What you are suggesting will basically flush the entire economy down the toilet.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Oh man I missed it. Did we have naked ppl running around?
The bare truth is that we had an art issue but we quickly got to the bottom of the matter and it’s now well behind us.
Thanks for the laugh Gaile, I really needed one.

Chak, Mordrem Guard, Mushroom, and Saurian are all HoT zone and not everyone has HoT. Plant slayer was in place before Mordrem existed and so they won’t count towards that particular slayer achievement.

In the end it all comes down to just how bad you want your shiny toy and whether or not you want it enough to suck it up, put on the big person armor and get it done. I’d love to be able to give away the 16 gifts of exploration sitting in my bank to WvW people because I know they have it far worse when it come to the legendary grind.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
I run Marauder as my all purpose armor set as far as open world & WvW on my guard/DH.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
The real way to prevent server hopping: make queues prioritize people who have been on the server for longer.
I wonder how they could make that work with linked servers because I’ve been on AR since beta and I know of a few others that have been also. I could only imagine the wait line for the stacked servers.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
That pic just shows lack of coverage or poor coverage, not a deliberate 2v1 by 2 other servers. Anvil Rock got to see that along with all 3 bl’s not having our color (basically no OCX/SEA/EU coverage will do that) for months leading up to server linking.
Somebody from YB made a comment about AR the other night and I got dc’c before I could explain that we pretty much no longer exist in any big numbers any more. There was me & one other from my guild on at the time. There were a few from another guild working in YBBL but I think most of them had called it a night about the time the question came up.
Hey Anvil Rock person, we have coverage, loads of it.
Tier THREE can’t play against Tier ONE and have any chance at all.
It’s about the tiers.
Tier 1 servers should not be linked.
Tier 1 servers should not be MANUALLY set to play Tier 3 servers.
I will be glad when our linking is gone, your server hates to listen to anyone.
Considering I watched 3 or 4 different YB commanders complain & then leave because YB people just wanted to get spawn farmed by Mag, we ain’t the only ones that don’t listen apparently. On the plus side, I did get to relax & drink a beer while watching a bunch of people beat their head against the Mag wall. It was pretty entertaining, especially when the Mag guy put several rounds from a treb thru the spawn gate uprights. Guy must have been a place kicker in a past life or had a spotter.
I can say YB popped my WvW cherry though. I’ve never actually seen a server people hated enough to spawn camp and get to watch it in action. First time for everything I suppose. It is quite possibly the first time I’ve ever thought about moving off of AR.

Logged into EBG & watched Mag farm YB at the spawn with a treb as a back up. Why anyone would run out to be farmed is beyond me. Oh well…maybe we’ll get linked to a server that people don’t hate with a passion next go ‘round. At least SWTOR has a double xp thing going so I guess I’ll be alt leveling for the week.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Necro is way tanky, but it’s not your “sword and board” tank.
I have done some pretty crazy stuff with my reaper for sure. I think the best was holding a pair of champ rockdogs in a guild mission and then picking up a vet on top of that to ease up the pressure on a druid. I held all three until the cavalry showed up in the form of a second reaper and a pair of elementalists running staff AoE.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Okay, how bout some new costume brawl weapons then? And not having inspections doesnt make any sense, why is it so bad to have it? Also vehicals are awesome!
The only ones that used inspections in Aion were the ones that liked to grief new players/low levels. Nothing like making sure your target doesn’t stand a chance in hell before you gank them.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Another possible alternative could be to drastically lengthen link evaluations to say 6 months. This could in theory help limit the constant instability caused every two months
At a 6 month span between re-link…they might as well just merge all of the low population servers into the bigger ones and be done with it. At least as things are now, it’s only 2 months stuck in a pairing that a person may not care for. How many quit playing or transfer if stuck for 6 months as opposed to 2 months?
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
You can also access the underwater area after Teq has been killed. There is a portal in the water a bit behind where the chest spawns. Not sure if if the treasure is also there. The portal stays open for 15 minutes.
The treasure chest for the achievement is there.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
That’s nice but why is CD still open, our population is massive with multiple ques at all times of the day that it’s not even fair for our opponents. Please fix this anet, either move us up to T1 where we will be against servers with similar population, or close transfers to CD. I had to wait 4 hours last night to get into EBG…
Idle curiosity, but you try any of the bl’s or just EBG and what time zone? Only times I had a wait when AR was paired with CD was getting into EBG and even then, it just depended on the time of day and it hit double digit wait once maybe twice.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
If i remember correctly, the gear you get from the boost is power/vitality/toughness. I have no clue how well thief will work running that set up but yes you can use it.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Can we move OP and his guild to Anvil Rock? Would like to see how great his guild is and not that he’s being hard carried by pop. Please and Thank you.
Dear God no….I’d like to think we have standards.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
There is no incentive to de-stack so why would anyone even want to leave whatever server they may be on for a new one. As far as new servers; why bother creating new ones when the low population ones that already exist can’t even be filled. No incentive to leave and opened up BG ect. so more can move there….why not just shoot WvW in the head now and start over because new servers won’t fix a thing at this point.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Why not just offer those heavily populated servers free transfers out? That way, it’ll allow servers to re balance itself.
The problem is there is no incentive for anyone on a heavily populated server to give up established community etc to move off of the the heavily populated server and on to a new server.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
IMO, none of these options are viable. BG, Mag, JQ, TC, Yaks, and FA are all established server communities with server pride. Taking away their name would be a game mode death move.
Stick to the primary server in a linkage to show their server name.
Yeah…cause server pride only exists on the big servers. Amen to #1…burn ’em all down so they can get a dose of what the slave servers got.
Hugs & kisses AR
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
thats the problem with this game mode ppt wins the game not fighting.
You argument sound pretty silly when YB, the server everyone say to only PPT and never fight, is losing their current matchup and being projected to lose ~47 rating while dropping from 4th to 7th. Maybe PPT isn’t all that matter after all, or TC/JQ are much more PPT focused than YB.
No JQ yesterday didn’t even capped YAKs garrison for 2 hours and half go watch last KEK stream on twitch. They could cap it right away but they stay there on inner for 2 hours and half just killing the Yaksbend who were trying to save it wile JQ and TC were there just for the kills Yaks was there just for the PPT, we didnt even care about killing the lord. We only cap it because the raid ended and we were leaving. You are delusional we just care about KDR.
Just watch it:
https://www.twitch.tv/dyeingaming/v/98124872
I haven’t seen a server yet that wouldn’t give up their garrison without a fight so yeah YB was gonna fight for it PPT or not. Even at its worst right before being turned into a slave server; Anvil Rock did an 8-10 v 30-35 not to lose their keep in EBG. With no OCX/SEA/EU…it darn sure wasn’t for the PPT…it was just for the fact we weren’t going to give to it up without a fight. But hey..if KDR is all that matters…why don’t you turn all of the keeps, camps etc over and see just how far KDR carries you in a match up.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Once was more than enough for me – never want to do it again.
But weirdly for some reason I received 4 gifts of exploration…
Used 1 for crafting Bifrost but the other 3 have been gathering dust in the bank with no desire to craft another first gen legendary.
I’m betting you had another with all of the PvE zones done and it just needed the WvW done to finish world comp when Anet removed the WvW requirement for Gift of Exploration. That is what happened to 8 of my 9 world comps; with no WvW needed, they got world completion.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Welcome to Coverage Wars 2: boon sharing, condi-bombing zerg edition.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Unfortunately it’s true that the game that started with the idea that you could get the rewards you wanted playing the way you wanted is dead. Legendary armor requires raids in a game that didn’t have raids in the first place because it was created to include everyone and therefore kept large scale content open world. It got really bad when the last big WoW expansion flopped and the great exodus began.
Actually, at game’s launch, if you wanted to make your own legendary, you had to play WvW to do map completion. Which for some took WAY WAY WAY longer than it takes to get to completing the progress bar even if you don’t increase participation due to their server never switching to a particular color or their server never being able to take things.
I remember this. I had several friends guest to other servers just to get around spending weeks as one color. I’d even heard of someone’s server not changing colors for three months.
It all comes down to just how bad you really want the legendary. I hated dungeons but ground out the tokens needed for the legendary I wanted. The gift of exploration used in my legendary was obtained by suffering through WvW for map completion when that was still required.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
The way I see it from my AR account is AR no longer exists. When I run into other friendly players I have no idea if they’re from CD or SF, there is no way to establish a community.
There is nothing we can do to improve our server because anything we capture or any kills we make contributes to CD’s score. Players will continue to slowly drift off the server until the only people left are the PvE players that have no idea what server they are on and only come in to grab daily’s.
Anet needs to return the server identities. We shouldn’t be listed as CD because we are not CD. We should be Red Team AR, our allies should be Red Team CD, Red Team SF. This will allow players to know who they will be with from month to month and allow new guilds to form.
Only ones I know of any more either run the [METL] or [AR] tags….and most all the [METL] ones are in [AR].
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
I retired my core ranger from WvW. It just hit the point where it seems like it is basically useless there. It now sees service in pretty much only the HoT zones and for doing dailies in PvE land.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
You would be correct about after playing for 4yrs. There is a song for that.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
@Xenesis
NSP may be strong in tier 4 atm, but the linkings were balanced. Go back in wvw millenium and check the first matches with the linkings. I would think NSP has a lot of fair-weather players and new players on the linked servers that join in the blob and just mobilised their players better than other servers. They also have gotten a few transfers in the last week or two, CD and HoD also couldn’t mobilise enough players on their linked servers. Nothing Arenanet could have done about that.NSP will be strong in tier 3 as well, they have a good overall coverage and it are 3 servers, SBI and SoS only have small linkups.
NSP blob probably bigger than everyone left on AR that WvW’s. Kinda hard to mobilize something that pretty much isn’t there any more.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
I’d say the player base is more scattered than anything. Quite a few in Ember Bay given how quick most events are completed. Most are probably working on farming for the new ascended gear which probably accounts for seeing fewer people everywhere else. I have noticed that there seems to be fewer Teq reset instances up and they also seem to fill up slower than before.
I couldn’t tell you about the WvW population other than it is the typical coverage wars. Being on a “slave” server and being kicked around every couple of months; it is hard to get a feel for who has what kind of overall population as far as servers go.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Part of the problem with removing the linking at this point is the “slave” servers" get nothing as far as glicko is concerned so what would you do with them? They get absolutely nothing from links other than punted around every couple of months. Right before the linking, my server could barely hold its own in prime & was outnumbered pretty much all of the time. No OCX/SEA/EU coverage to speak of and it hit the point that logging in every morning meant out color had been wiped from every map. Anet might as well burn the “slave servers” down & start over at this rate.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
I’m sorry but I have far more important things to worry about like the 50+ unruly door to door sales people that just dropped 4 catapults with shields. I can only guess they aren’t going to take “go away” for an answer and they didn’t see the “no solicitors” signs on the gates and walls.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
I got into the the very first part of Ember and everything was slow. Got some lag so I guess I’ll give it a shot some other time.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
I don’t waste my time with mobs anywhere any more unless it is an event or it is faster to kill them than go around. When all of your characters are level 80, the drops are garbage and xp means nothing thanks to the mastery system, why bother with them.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
I generally use sword/shield as my primary weapon set. The second weapon just depends on what I get into (carry mace, bow, GS and staff). Armor set is currently marauder with durability runes. I haven’t gone into WvW with the guardian/DH yet but it handles pretty well open world.

1) Quite a lot of people dislike the the amount of stuff needed to upgrade a guildhall. It hurt a lot of small guilds even though Anet had mentioned they would keep small guilds in mind when they made the changes.
2) If karma items are the best you can get in a zone, there is no real reason to craft anything as you have to basically start over for the next zone. At level 80, there is no reason to craft anything at all. What is the point of tiered gear levels when it is karma based. You just need to farm the karma to spend to get the items. The problem is new players have no karma or low karma to be able to even get the gear. Also, best I remember, the amount of karma per event was reduced.
3) I’m not sure what you mean by overpowered players. Your level is reduced to the maximum level to what ever zone you are in. In WvW, you are bumped up to effective level 80.
4) Ascended items restricted to Fractals only causes a big problem. It makes all of the ascended gear a player has useless is they do not do Fractals. It also makes guild commendations and laurels more or less useless as most of the stuff you can get with either is ascended accessories.
5) Weapons that break and can’t be repaired will cause people to leave. Given the amount of time and materials needed to craft legendary weapons, what is the point in making them when they are going to get broken? Spirit shards become pretty much useless as will other materials needed to make legendary weapons. The same goes for ascended weapons. How many people are going to continue to sink the time, materials, and gold into a Fractal only item that will break so they can continue to do Fractals? Best guess is Fractals will basically become ignored content.
6) Dungeons are already set up so that you dropped to the appropriate level. The only thing not affected is traits. Requiring a level 30 dungeon to be done with level 30 only gear means dungeons will become ignored content. Nobody is going to want to have a full set of gear for each dungeon because of gear level restrictions.
7) Being able to convert real money to gems and then into gold has no effect on crafted item prices. It only means a player is willing to use real money to get gold to be able to buy the items they want at whatever price the crafter lists it at. It only makes it faster to get the item and only the ones that flip items on the trader are going to re-list the item. I’m not sure how the gem store works where you are, but there is no item you can buy off of the gem store (NA/EU) that will give any advantage to a player. All of the items are cosmetic.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Dods should duct tape that armor more often.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
I run marauder with durability runes as an all purpose type armor set up thanks to asking a WvW fanatic for ideas.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
Aion had something like this and it was always like walking into a pair of crack head monkeys brawling when you didn’t want the distraction. SWTOR used the same thing, except others could jump in and really turn things into a big circus. If memory serves me correctly, the duelists fought until downed only. As far as auto-decline, it’s great and all until the person kept nagging you along with all the trash talk. After the 2nd no, they were usually told to go commit an anatomically impossible feat & slapped on the block list.
Crystal Desert: 1/13/2017
I seldom tag up for anything and I do have the commander tag. It usually gets used as a marker when I find a bounty and there is a guild running the bounty hunt. I did spend a couple of hours using it for the ley line escort stuff and was fortunate enough to have a fast typist giving the explanation of what was going on & what to do. If somebody asks a question in chat, I don’t give the “google it” or “wiki it” that some think is a good response. (Don’t even get me started on the alt+F4 morons but I got a nice collection of them on the block list.) I answer the question or even go as far as to look it up and then tell them about the /wiki feature. A lot of people, especially the new ones don’t even know about the /wiki thing.
