Already told you that no matter what you do you will always be able to leap more than 3 times into BP, even with full leaps as the second full leap will bring you back to your starting position which is your BP field. With some clever positioning 4 full leaps are the norm and not exception, you don’t need to shorten anything for that. So to me that’s neither a bug nor an exploit.
ETA: First person view or action camera (not using any of them) might shorten the span – but the limiting factors are: Duration of the BP field and your initative, not so much the distance of your leap.

ETA: What was pretty costly though was food – the node changes helped with that. For me it was better before though, I’m using plates of orrian steak frittes and NC was the best spot to farm black peppercorn. Ask Babou – I spent hours in the NC farming and listed him all prices of all herbs I had in my inventory – yes, I’m a very interesting person!

Do you know how long wvwer’s have been asking for a reward track and finally got it with the release of hot! It sounds like the op is all about the gold and not about wvw game play. The reward tracks were brought in for wvwers who didn’t want to pve or pvp but prefered to wvw and unlock dungeon tracks to get the skin of the armour that they wanted. You get exotic armour and weapons with badges you get in wvw. I’m happy with the rewards we get and i think op is just being greedy. You should have played wvw in the begining where you had no reward tracks at all.

While thinking about it: The issue is a bit more complex: You get a massive amount of loot on the HoT maps – I was seriously annoyed when getting my mastery ranks “Oh no, not a full inventory again!” BUT on the other hand: The mats requirements for the new legendaries are insane. Maybe work from the top down. Make the new legendaries a bit less expensive, give out a bit less loot on the HoT maps.
I can remember Halloween 3 years ago. Anet tried to restrict the amount of loot and gold we gain, so all you got in the labyrinth were some spikes – it was deserted after 2 days max (that was before megaservers though, but I don’t think even a megaserver could’ve saved that situation). Not that much fun.
We did play wvw although we had to pay for the upgrades (most didn’t give a kitten, granted), although we didn’t have reward tracks. It was “enough” even then, although a bit unfair in comparison to the other modes. It’s plenty now and we don’t need more, really.
You do know that I have 10+ k of hours on power D/D thief, right? I guess my camera movements are fluid and I wasn’t even trying to exploit anything, I was just leaping through my BP field. Sorry, but I don’t take “the normal camera is used as an exploit” that seriously. Exploits would be 5, maybe 6 HS max anyway and 4 is plenty already – I guess the problem is more on OH pistol than the camera.
ETA: No matter what the camera “exploit” is: D/P has got too much access to stealth – but that doesn’t mean thief is the only culprit when it comes to stealth.

You can shorten it and still have some travel from HS if you didn’t rotate camera fast enough and still get 4 stacks but again that’s not the full HS length and is most often what happens when inexperienced players try to emulate the exploit.

Yes I use Trickery, it’s not an issue of not having the Initiative it’s the actual time of the BP smoke field won’t last the length of 4 full distance HS.
Then try to noob down so it works for you.

Alright, but the camera has always been around and I told you that even with full leaps it’s possible to stack 4 times – so I have no idea what’s an exploit and what should be fixed if everything is already working like intended.
Action camer isn’t what allows the HS stack it you can’t use Action camera to stack stealth 4 times with HS it’s how the camera manipulation allows the normal camera to shorten the HS distance to not leave the Bp field. It has been known as an exploit without the manipulation the most you can stack without it is 2 maybe three times but more time than not it is 2 max which is only 4-5 seconds of useable stealth, if they fix the camera exploit it will help with the abuse of stealth.
Having a hard time to understand what you’re trying to tell me “it’s not action camera, it’s action camera”
I just told you that I can leap through the field 4 times? And more isn’t possible anyway, except if using initative gain traits.
So what is the exploit?
The first one is simple, don’t allow conditions to affect an enemies while you are in stealth or an invuln state.
The second one anet’s hinted at, and wouldn’t be surprised to see if they force all skills to jump their full range rather than the camera being able to reduce it. Simply put the majority of theifs would only be able to get 2 stacks of stealth.
The first is more than likely not going to happen the second probably will tho.
Without action camera and with full leaps, I as D/P noob, can leap through smoke field 4 times. It’s not a camera issue. Not sure if action camera really lets people leap through it more often as initiative is a limiting factor. Those using action camera might be able to leap through it 5 times.
The problem here is that there’s no thief dev and that they let the combat aspect of this game detoriate for too long, it will be a lot of effort to fix that. If we had a thief dev none of the latest “nerf thief” cries would’ve worked – just saying: they’re losing more and more players because they’re listening to what people with serious L2P issues have to say.
They shouldn’t tie stealth to anymore classes, that would cause more problems than anything, Thief was designed at a conceptual level to rely on stealth as a defensive mechanic, when they started giving more stealth to classes that do not require it but can abuse it causes issues like Scrapper and Druid who do not lack in sustain or damage mitigation to warrant getting as much stealth as they do.
And you can’t remove Stealth from being tied to Thief since it is built into the very core of Thief.
Now they do need to address how Stealth does interact with conditions, and with Stealth Stacking.
No other class has got a gigantic red circle around them when stealthing, they have one motion, that’s it. They don’t have the crippling shadow attack cooldown, they don’t have their heal, condi remove, burst, damage migation and so on tied to stealth. They don’t need stealth, whether or not they’re revealed doesn’t bother them = In that case reveal skills are ok, not so in case of thief. So either they tie more classes to stealth, or they remove reveal skills – as how it is now it’s a huge passive nerf to thief and that’s not ok. The issue is just overshadowed by the state of the game in general.
And they certainly don’t need to adress how condis and stealth work together, that’s a problem of D/P and Rune of the Trapper – they don’t need to nerf core thief just that everybody can carry on using that stupid rune that was brought into game obviously untested.
It still doesn’t justify any of it, nor take the fire from those saying stealth as it currently is trivializes a lot in combat on daredevil – because it absolutely does, and they’re not wrong for saying there’s a ton of reward for next to no opportunity cost.
You’ll never not see the daredevil played, unless ANet massively power-creeps their next elites every time they come up with a new one, or massively nerfs daredevil and buffs core thief and nerfs half of the rest of what was released in HoT.
Is stealth not more a problem of D/P than of DrD?
D/P has got too much access to stealth, rune of the trapper should be removed, all classes should be somehow tied to stealth or thief unbound and if that’s not possible reveal skills should be removed.
DrD is insane when looking at core thief, yes. Anet brought themselves into a very difficult situation with HoT.
I recently created a free account and could play happily ever after, especially if the elites aren’t in some form required. Another problem is: They took away the game a lot of people loved.
It might have worked out as planned if they had a proper balance team before june 2015 and created a line all sets can use. I’m curious how they’ll get out of it actually.
ETA: This is another problem anet face. It’s not just the core players who still haven’t got HoT, it’s also the free players – and I’d have to say that they are very generous with free accounts.

Daredevil is extremely easy to play. I’d actually say meta Daredevil is probably the easiest build to play in the entire game at the moment.
Core thief is a whole other story.
True, but even daredevil can’t cut through all the blocks, passive blocks, boons and sometimes ridiculous sustain.

I can kill classes who don’t have that excessive sustain and passives, other than that I’m out = I can kill all vanilla specs, some reapers, some revs/heralds for whatever reason and a daredevil if he’s bad.
Given same skill level no thief/daredevil stands a chance in 80% of 1 vs 1. And even if the skill level of the opponent is a lot lower there’s a very good chance he will win.
ETA: A while ago I said to my buddy: Those who are still playing this game are no lifers like me and facerollers – and unfortunately that’s very likely true: I hope they got a proper balance team and I hope these guys will ignore the forums for the most part.
Someone suggested that the supression should be moved from map to team and that would probably be a good thing, at least for a few weeks until people get used to it.

I know that, Jeknar – it was introduced because over 80s didn’t gain EXP anymore – but they’re using up another bank space and since we now get EXP after level 80 again we don’t need them (I wrote that in the OP actually).
I agree the server linking has not “worked as intended” but its also the players that have made this an issue with server hopping. Players have screwed this up. Not developement. It was also an issue long before the super server was launched. So suck it up. “WE DID THIS!”
Maybe on NA, on EU anet screwed it up – and they had NA as an example what would happen.
And hey, no one complained about the first 2 linkings – everything was fine from the player’s point of view.

Ya same, no idea what the others are doing wrong. Well except maybe spamming 1 with auto targeting on. If your target gets stealth then of course it will target something less desirable. Not sure how these players handle ranger pet taunts, or maybe they don’t considering all the hate druids are getting.
Now, a bit less arrogance: Auto targeting and manual targeting prioritize different targets. If using next target with auto target on you’ll not get the next target/closest target, but something rather random (if using it first you’ll get the second closest target, if using mid battle you’ll get the wall, no matter whether or not the enemy closest to you is stealthed). It does work with manual targeting.
You can now be like my 18 yo buddy “WHAA YOU USED AUTO TARGET? THAT’S TOO EASY!!” still it remains a problem, not just with auto target. And some players enjoy zergfights in which manual targeting is a hinderance.

And while I thought of that: How about we gain Spirit shards instead of Tomes, but the Mystic Forge sells Tomes for Shards.
If you get a Spirit shard it will get right into your purse, it’s up to you wherefore you want to use it. If you need tomes you can buy them for that currency. Would be ideal for me and since Tomes are easily earned nowadays I don’t think there’s a downside to my idea. (For those who are rather new: Tomes were an exception back in the day, at least everywhere outside of PvP).
You can target Teq or any other world boss by clicking on their health bar under the events text. I found that to work best since I’ve always had a terrible time wondering which part of them I’m supposed to be hitting.
I don’t think that would help in my case. He has got at least 3 targets on him but without auto target I’m always getting his head, even though I might be hitting the leg right in front of me. If I use heart seeker I’m always jumping into the direction of his head – no matter what I do.
Edit: You were right – it works. Not that it makes things that much less complicated but I can at least use heartseeker on him again. Thanks a lot!

Thats not acceptable. Those classes are weak in WvW, only really good for 1v1 sniping or full mobility troll builds. Maybe scrapper but I’m not buying HoT as a WvW exclusive player.
Did you just start to play this game? You’re calling some of the most OP classes weak?
ETA: I’m honestly a bit annoyed by the ignorance in this thread, so I’ll be out after this post but:
All Elite specs are overpowered – you’re having a hard time as a non elite against no matter what class. Demanding more “unstealth skills” doesn’t help this game one bit.

But like JahCool said: Roll a thief – I mean I wanted to delete all 3 chars I had so far when I created mine but went on to create every class to learn how to kill them. For some reason people think they don’t have to do that when complaining about thieves, they rather say that “stealth traps are their only option booohoo”.
Being able to fight while stealthed is silly. And the main counter being a item you have buy and use 10 supply to actually use. Like I want to go into my inventory and run supply to counter stealth.
I guess they were going for some kind of “behind enemy lines” strategy game. It didn’t work and whoever designed it is probably at Amazon games by now.
Actually the guys who designed this game thought the players would be smarter.
They might be designing different games by now as those who are now responsible for “balance” design it for brain dead facerollers.

Isn’t the thread a complaint about GH being always red? I’m just pointing that the weakest server being red is a bad thing, and already said it several times in the past. And now it can be even worse with DBL being red.
No – the thread is the question request to manually adjust it so that GH isn’t always red.
So, no idea what your “red keep can be trebbed and mend and anz are the worst towers” has got to do with it.

Well, I used to say that red shouldn’t be the weaker server exactly because their keep would be constantly trebbed by SMC by the stronger server, but everyone insisted that the fact that the keep can treb smc was a good advantage to the weaker team, so there is no problem in them having 2 of the worst Towers (Anzalias and Mendons) and the worst Supply Camp (Speldan).

2 weeks of all borders being alpine, 1 week Desert so all servers get to endure same kitten same time.

If you don’t have auto-targeting turned off, do it.
It’s still terrible. I’m unable to get teq’s leg in focus, without auto target, no matter what I do – I always have his head as target – not so cool if you try to heartseeker his leg, because you will leap into nothing. And in blobfights I’m now spamming tab (next target) instead of F (auto loot) – great.

Yeah of course they need to delete another tier. They just did which brought GH in the situation it is now. I don’t care who else they link with whatever server, because honestly, I pretty much stopped caring – none of anets descisions makes any sense, so whatever.

They could actually link Gunnars with FSP – I mean they really need a third link, don’t they?
We don’t have these issues in EU. Well maybe one or two, but those servers have dropped.

Once upon a time people complained that guard was so slow and anet said: “we feel like guard brings too much to the table, they have to trade their mobility for what they can do elsewhere”.
This has been thrown out with HoT – now everybody can do everything and doesn’t have to make tradeoffs.
I have no idea – actually what is even going on.
Thing is; I learned this game and thief with auto target and at some point it got buggy. By then my “playstyle” was already settled – how should I change that to something that’s much slower to me that easily?
Right now I don’t think I’ll be able to change – and it’s so boring on top of that.
But that auto target is “bugged” is a good explanation why CnD missed in my case and for none of you.
ETA: What if I take your right mouse aim away from you? I’m in that situation now – I’d have to completely change how I’m used to play, even if it sounds like a minor issue for most.
ETA²: Another try to explain what I’m experiencing, or what I think the problem is:
If auto target is turned on it doesn’t accept your target as the target.
It might be that the same auto target is turned on if you have it turned off in the options and are hitting something without having it in target. I switched from auto target to manual target and am killing mobs in orr since, or wherever, because I kill everything in my way anyway – I’m pisces, the most aggressive zodiac sign.. yeah well. Anyway: the hit chances changed the past couple of weeks. It was really bad before I complained once again after the stealth attack cooldown, then it was really good, then it became bad again. It was so/so in wvw but wvw seems to be buggy anyway. So it was nearly perfect in PvE for a short time, then my CnD started to miss again, and I experienced problems with targeting in general, that was when I created this thread. I then switched to manual targeting and it was pretty good a few days ago, tonight my BS missed pretty often, CnD sometimes. The past few days my hit chances when having a mob in target was a lot higher than if not.
= I have no idea what’s going on, I have no idea whether it’s my imagination or anet are really playing with targeting.

If you don’t want to use team chat, use map chat. If you don’t want to see team chat, turn it off.
There’s no sense at all in reverting team chat to its prior state of being a redundant clone of map chat.

Also: you don’t need the location of the one typing in map team chat, people should be intelligent enough to add that on their own if neccessary. Let the novelity wear off – I’m confident it will become better over time.

How I came to what my problem was was really that I tried to hit the guy in front of me and jumped against a wall “Umm, maybe CnD doesn’t hit because the program thinks I have something else in target” and it seems as if that is true.
But, like I said, anet doesn’t really say whether or not they’re tinkering around with targeting but it seems they do, so what is true today might not be true tomorrow.
You always need a target for CnD to hit halfway properly – otherwise it switches to auto target and then the target might not be your target anymore. Same with BS lately as it seems.
I don’t need a video for that, but thanks =)
Auto target worked really fine for me – and it seems as if I’m really missing it.
That’s just my playstyle – sounds weird but it is true, I don’t always concentrate on one target, I might CnD on one guy and BS the next – all pretty complicated with manual target.
Yeah and it seems as if targeting, no matter if auto or manual, is a work in progress, some days I can hit mobs while turning 180 degree, other days I miss.
I haven’t really been in wvw lately, but it seems as if manual target works a lot better against enemy players, wheras it’s good/worse against mobs in PvE.
For daggerstorm you don’t want to have a target, otherwise the program thinks you want to only hit that target.
So yeah, I’m not a happy camper right now because I really have problems to make manual targeting work for me.
ETA: I’m still hitting others around that, but it’s less hits than with auto target or without having anyone in target. At least it seems so, you guys know I’m the emotional thief.

We all assumed we’d have bi weekly balance patches after June 2015. So yes, soon.
None of the suggestions prevents field siege. All of the suggestions favour the bigger numbers.
ETA. Except the “outmanned buff” suggestion, true, but that buff doesn’t mean much anyway.
The other day we were around 5 on our BL, had an 30 + man enemy zerg flipping our keeps and 2 of the third server flipping our camps. No buff for us.
