I wish every female heavy armour didn’t end you up in wearing a dress. Oh, and the few that are leg plates look horrible
Warriors are probably the most balanced class in the game, and they should remain pretty much untouched and all classes should be balanced around it (buffs or nerfs whatever is needed to match them to warrior level). That’s how I’d do it if I were Anet.
Warriors are weak on party support, but are a single target monster with only melee AoE.
Seems balanced to me.
GW1 r11, top 10 GvG guild about 2 years at that level
No, GW2 PvP is nothing on GW1, Anet aren’t so blind as to not know this, but it was probably never their intent. PvP in GW1 was for the tough PvPer (though AB, Hero Battles, RA did cater for the casual PvPer)
Actually the more you reflect on GW1 PvP it had everything.
Mind boggling why they directed themselves into capture point, you’ll only ever build 2 ways, bunker or roam.
Anet need to invest in WvW, that is where all the promise is.
something with crazy amounts of blood dripping from it, and you wipe the blood across your face
yeah do it
Or for those that did play GW1, this still rocks
so… the biggest question ofcourse…
do we get to skin baby quaggan’s to make the backpack ourselves?
now that would be awesome…
that’d be a sweet cutscene
Sea of Sorrows is da man
I love my Bolty
I don’t go to them, they come to me
Speaking of diminishing returns, YOUR GAME BLOODY NEEDS IT. Getting tired of having 20 seconds of stability, 4 ways to cleanse stuns, immobilizes, and cripple/chill and still the end result is my corpse on the floor as a full bunker spec to a measly 3 people who have way more CC and gap closers than what is necessary.
So you’re complaining that you die 1v3?
They designed elementalists in a way that the class does make sense, this nerf/rework will have to adjust graphically with the class (animations and such) and its philosophy.
@Edit
Oh, and ele players never ever complained about other classes who have much stronger AoE attacks despite this being one of our class’ highlights.
I agree. When you look back at Alliance Battles in GW1 with map designs that are closest to the current sPvP set-up, everyone rolled with eles to roll through the capture point, and then bunkered them there if they need holding.
cooking cost about 4g
weaponsmith about 7g
from memory
You could tell they tried to bring the essence of GvG back in the form of tPvP with the Foefire map (the one with the 2 guards and the main guy worth 100 or whatever points).
Yeah, I suppose that was the intent.
But GvG was just something “out of the box”. We all have to accept that the beautiful GvG will always be the great memory of GW1.
play in a zerg, thieves are nothing
Golems are already a stretch for me in breaking the whole fantasy element. Let’s keep tank, places, helicopters, rocket launchers, and biochemical warfare outta here
Wat
Ram = real
Trebuchet = real (even launching rotten animal parts is real)
Ballistas = real
Arrow carts = real
Golems = fantasySo the one siege engine that only exists in fantasy is the one that’s the biggest stretch for you? I don’t get it.
Anyway, I conceptually like the idea of a tank. It would basically just be a “catapult golem”, though I suppose it could also be a ballista.
I mean realism. And you know what I meant.
“Real” siege equipment seems fine, golems are a bit out of place, and tanks and stuff would be way out of place
No one ever says engineer, but as its intent is as a static character, seems like the better choice. But yeah probably don’t know enough about them really, that’s why I just rolled one as an alt.
JP is great. If people wanna camp it, cool, we’ll just go flipping keeps while they get 4 bits of siege, 14 badges, and 2 bits of crap.
I’ve found BG’s choice of which map to keep a presence in very odd at times. Maybe it’s that particular guilds have rigid assignments or feel more comfortable in different maps but they are giving up a lot of ppt defending.

I really don’t know a good way to do it. Leaders are normally elected. So maybe you could purchase a lieutenant tag (maybe it only lasts 24hrs a purchase) and then your server somehow has to give you say 100 likes and it you would be eligible to purchase the commander tag.
Or again, purchase this temporary lieutenant tag and lead x number of camp/keep flips which then makes you eligible for the commander tag.
Also there should be a map limit to commanders, 4 at the most each.
The only thing I’d like to change about them is add in more requirements being;
- an sPvP requirement (which then covers every area of the game)
- and a JP/kill quest specific to each legendary and around its lore to acquire the final forging <—must be difficult to do (I’m talking clocktower type JP and a kill quest that resets if you die during it)
- and on acquiring, you have to beat your doppleganger (tribute to GW1) in order to escape from the forge area
I got a precursor through the MF, and dude, holy kitten when it pops for you, you’ll be doing back flips, side flips, triple flips, ab crunches, and pretend like you’re the best popper and locker in da house you freaking boss
I miss hamstorm
The OP’s comment is really again on why the premium PvP mode fro GW1 was left out of GW2.
I simply don’t know what Anet were thinking.
some do, but I find it boring because they never drop anything good for me. what’s the point of fighting one for 5-10 minutes if you get a green?
sad that people don’t look for challenges only ego gear
50% hit rate use the 10 recipe to 70 and the single recipe to 77
Got on the good side of the curve this time
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few
WvW is attritionl warfare and it’s burning people out
I remember the old radio interviews Izzy use to do and I was pretty impressed by what he use to say. Philosophically he was on the money, people were just frustrated with the implementation approach which was small changes, watch what happens, make further small changes.
But over the course of GW1 that approach was proven to be correct. Kept longevity in the game and allowed the players to work through the next meta.
Difference here is that the skill system is much much smaller and thus meta is very hard to change without large scale changes which Izzy/John Sharpe aren’t in the habit of doing.
Still find it staggering that GvG or at least HA isn’t in the game. I mean, if they had implemented HA instead of FOTM I know where I’d be right now.
a Shiro based fractal would be nice
You need to trait up for faster endurance regen which is how it should be, different skill sets and arrangements for different encounters. Sometimes your personal favourite build just won’t cut it.
I’d like to see when the sword is drawn as twilight your armour is sunrise, and when the sword changes to sunrise your armour changes to twilight
That would be sweet
I don’t know if a lot of people remember but the first 6 months of GW1’s release was just a mess off imbalance with spirit spamming, chain lightning spike, smite, and all sorts of other stuff. Forums were all over the place with how imbalanced and messed up a game with so much potential had.
After 6 months though, game was in a sweet place and all the qq went bye-bye (well as much as you could expect for forums – IWAY qq never went away)
With lodestone I just think the obtainable rate needs balancing, not increasing overall.
Otherwise I’m happy with the obtainability, in fact I think they should make it deeper by adding in sPvP req’s and jumping puzzle req’s to show case the entire game.
And of course they must not be able to be sold.
Agree. That’s why I would really like if the last thing you do for your legendary is a quest. Where you have to do a tricky JP and fight your way through this mini story to get to an alter or forge or someone who will tell you a story, you hand them the 4 items and you get a beautiful cinematic of being handed and wielding your legendary. Imagine a dragon or something crazy like that forging and giving you your legendary. That’d be sweet.
Man, if they had done programming time on that instead of the Lost Shores Event I think the community would be a lot happier.
What I think people are trying to say in this thread is that GW2 is yet unable to let you show your own personal self with your character.
If you think to GW1, the sheer amount of cross profession combinations you could find as well as the amount of weapons and gear available, and the game modes (PvE, GvG, TA/RA, HA, AB, HB’s, …) it allowed you to create a customised version of yourself on screen – well an expression of yourself anyway.
I’m sure over the course of the next 12 months as more is added into the game you’ll get that back.
For those that have dabbled in The Secret World, they basically ripped the GW1 model – 500 skills, cross profession combinations, hell they even have dodge rolling from GW2. But the combat is lacklustre, it doesn’t necessarily make it interesting no matter what way you build your character.
Puzzling to me is the removal of hexing in the game which was a backbone of combat types. Removing this from GW2 has taken a lot of personality off your own build. I hope this gets added back in, but I’m not sure how they would do it and somehow it makes sense to the world.
If you try and pigeon hole classes you will destroy the game, because it will bring back the single most hurtful aspect of most MMO’s;
“Group looking for 1 “xxx” and 1 “xxxx” "
And you just have people who love their class unable to find groups and become disenchanted with the game, and you also have people that love their class nd can find groups but the group can never find the other class they need to go for a run.
GW2 beautifully gets rid of this bane of MMO’s
I thought the bane of MMOs was the players?
Yeah , those ones who just tailgate you in WvW and spam the bell
I don’t think coming from the angle of “start all over again” is the right way.
Small scale suggestions are far more likely to be implemented.
All i really think they need to do is get them off the TP and make them account bound on forging. And adjust the rate of some of the lodestones. Very simple changes with the right amount of impact.
Longer term I think they just need to add a legendary quest when you have all your mats together that involves a difficult JP and combat to overcome so it truly screams “legend of the game”
Sea of Sorrows is the biggest, you’ll see plenty of numbers during your playing hours if you go there

These guys are right. Do the GS, when that one pops, sell it and buy the one you want. You’ll have a decent amount of cash left over which you’ll probably need for lodestones anyway.
Do you think he dates on Saturday nights?
Friend is helping me out with gold, getting the mats and what have you (Selling his dusk even, for 560g on the tp right now lol), just need to do SE for a few days and I’ll be done.
What do you think it’s worth?
any feed back would be appreciated.
I’d really like to discourage you from selling legendary. It doesn’t feel right, and I hope Anet step in and remove these from the TP.
Best combat system in an MMO by a street.
Huge L2P issue here with the OP. Dodging and timed interrupts are your friend, oh yeah and also changing your skillbar around when needed also helps. The graveling scavengers? Wow, I put a stability skill in my bar through that area so I don’t get kd’d and get eaten up.
Guess what, if someone is wailing on you with an axe, well yeah you’d better freaking move or it’s advantage them.
Gees, do you really just want to stand there and spam a skill rotation? Is that fun for anyone?
Anet want you to take a good look through all aspects of the game with a legendary saying “hey look at this guy, he is a master of the total world”.
Ok, sure because of all the short cuts etc. it doesn’t say that, but that is the intent.
In fact, I’d like to see the requirements increase to capture some sPvP requirement as well.
A legendary should really say “master of the game”, and that weapon in your hand should mean that through the requirement.
Hopefully a legendary armour set can be made and with an even more expanded requirement.
Note: Get them off the TP please, that’s not right
When you get your head around the fact that “downing” is not death then you’ll find all of this makes a lot of sense.

this one right here
15% or 20%? 5% is a big difference… and I would like to see where you got that data because as someone else said I was around the 11% and that is ridiculous lol
I was 50% for mystic clovers, but I see some people reporting as low as 10%, where overall chance is meant to be 33%.
You can just fall on the part of the chance curve that sux, but that’s how casinos make their cash.
how about being up front and honest about it before going in to the fractal
