New Build during Dragons

It seems rather extreme that your Guildies would leave the game for this, and I somewhat believe they’re trying to be purposely hyperbolic to make the point more serious, rather than actually being serious themselves…

However, 5 minutes seems a respectable request.

So.. they added 30+ new events to the game. Anyone see em?

Nah, that’s been there since the beginning, Holo. It just seems to be a bit rarer than bandits in the fields, and poisoning the water supply. It could also be that we’re pretty much directed to the first renown heart as soon as we get into Queensdale, and not near where the melons/rabbits are, so it’s not as noticeable.

One I’ve noticed is in Mount Maelstrom that opens a portal leading to the new jumping puzzle.

I’d imagine, just like Christmas in real life, that people who aren’t even religious will celebrate the act of present giving, getting together to drink, to feast, etc.

Granted, real life isn’t a great example, as we don’t celebrate Christmas with giant talking cats, but still.

I’ve lost count the amount of times I’ve beaten it.

I set myself an even further challenge to beat it 3 times in a row without failure – that’s how much I enjoy it.

Oh, and human Ele. No speed boost traits, or anything that can boost speed.

the point of complaining about it – its not a fun event, its just a grind and a bore. Don’t sit there and tell me you had fun carving 150 of these suckers.

I am looking for fun events, not boring mindless time sinks. GW2 was supposed to be above all that mindless drek.

Why should I not sit here and tell you I had fun carving these? Is it because then you’ll realise people are different and find fun in different things?

I turned it into a scavenger hunt, ’cause I enjoy them. So yeah, when I was told there are 30 of them in LA and 30 of them in many of the starting maps, I wanted to find them all. It was fun – I enjoy exploring.

If you’re looking for ‘fun events’ then there is a whole load of new stuff out there for you other than carving pumpkins. I don’t get what your complaint is here. The only thing I get from it is, “I don’t find it fun, therefore it shouldn’t exist.”

Mad Kings Doors can be glitched open forever

Is this only happening on certain servers or maps?

The ones I’ve seen have all worked since the event went live (minus the one that was bugged and constantly spawning enemies).

I’m in Sorrow’s Furnace, and off the top of my head, the ones that I’ve seen that worked were in Queensdale, Kessex and Gandarren. I’ve yet to have a door bug for me since the initial endless spawning glitch.

Not saying that it’s not happening to you, it just may be helpful for the devs to know which server you’re in and what maps you’ve played.

I think they’ve mentioned before that they don’t allow themselves to have the ability to spawn in weapons/armour, etc. in the live client, and have to get it like the rest of us do.

Now the dev client is another story!

Still, I like seeing ‘em too! When I was leveling my thief in Queensdale, I saw one helping us out in an event. Always respectful (well the ones I’ve seen) to say hey to players and answer questions that get relentlessly thrown at them from some.

Also, not gonna lie, I killed one in WvW and it felt good. I’m sorry to whoever that was!

Nah, your character actually throws up if you eat a lot of candy corn in a row. Dunno why, but the animation and noise actually conjured up the smell of sick in my room. kitten you, phantom smells!

Probably the terrible jokes that come with the Mad King Thorn costume. I’m looking forward to seeing the man himself for the pinnacle ones…and laughing…because I don’t want to die.

I <3 the plastic spiders, too.

I thought I’d also mention the bat-lamps, because they’re also epic.

Costumes

JayMack.8295

We don’t know.

ANet have provided different ‘hats’ each year that were unattainable for a while in GW1, but then eventually you could get them all as years went by, but they were quest rewards. When they added outfits in GW1, I believe you could buy them all year round.

If I had to guess, I’d say that they’ll re-sell the Mad King Thorn and Witch Costumes and then add more on top of that next year, but again – that is just a guess.

Witch Costume Disappointment

JayMack.8295

It’s a fair complaint.

GW1 had a costume NPC you’d just talk to and get your costumes on demand when you wanted them. This does feel like a bit of a step back in that regard.

Hopefully they’ll change how it works in GW2 to a similar method GW1 had.

Make editing the Message of the Day easier (Guilds)

JayMack.8295

Hey,

I’m not sure if this is a bug, since I remember that editing the message of the day was easier in betas, but since I’m not sure, I’ll post it here.

Currently, editing the message of the day involves a blank box appearing for you to type the message into. Because of this, I can’t edit the current message of the day, but instead have to re-type the entire thing out if I want to make small adjustments to the current one.

What would make it easier would be making the box the current message of the day appears in editable, rather than popping up a smaller separate window that is blank. If this is not possible, making sure that the box that pops up has the current message of the day already in it would also make things a lot easier.

Thanks.

Caledon Forest Possible Waypoint Bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

JayMack.8295

Hi all,

I’m stuck with finding my last waypoint in Caledon Forest and I’ve looked up waypoints on GW2 Cartographer and the wiki. It may be that my colour blindness is screwing me over here and I literally cannot see the one I’m missing, but apparently there is meant to be one at the heart event in Wardenhurst (to the west of Grenbrack Delves). There’s an event there that is currently bugged and I’m wondering if this may have something to do with it, but I would think I’d still be able to at least see the waypoint.

Was it possibly accidentally removed in the last patch? I’m on 17/18 waypoints and it’s the last thing on the map I need for 100%.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the server is Sorrow’s Furnace.

Voice talent generally not so… talented?

While you’re not addressing me, Mr.Stein, I think the problem for me lies in the direction the actors were given in the cinematic conversations more than the actors themselves.

It feels like (to me) that they were asked to downplay on too much emotion as they were in 1-1 conversations and close up without any action going on, but it makes the conversations feel a bit lifeless.

I remember specifically one line that felt like it was better delivered in previous demos that now feels lifeless and it’s this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSM8UqNxODI&feature=player_detailpage#t=817s. I think that’s the same voice actress. You can feel her desperation as she says, “I can’t spare anyone.” but it’s absent from the actual release. She sounds monotone now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW5eFqQD0bY&feature=player_detailpage#t=983s.

I get why they’ve been given that direction (if indeed they’ve been directed to downplay putting too much emotion in their delivery for cinematic VOs), but I prefer it when it has the emotion in.

By the way, looking back on that, good job with the improvements to the cinematics!

Where are the developers in-game?

I’ve seen two so far.

A female employee (I assume), whose name I cannot remember I killed in WvW. They were storming our keep (We’re Sorrow’s Furnace).

The second I met a couple of days ago named Jon Peters. He was in Queensdale as a warrior, I think (again in Sorrow’s Furnace). I was on my thief, I said ‘hey’, and he stuck around for half the cocooned friend event and then off he went. I try not to bother them too much if I see one. I expect they get swamped with private messages as is, so I just mention that I love the game, and move on.

God selection during character creation

in Human

Elementalists draw strength from all the Gods (Minus kormir). Balthazar for fire, Grenth for ice, Dwayna for Air, Melandru for Earth and Lyssa for energy (which doesn’t apply much in GW2 anymore, I suppose). The human female (possibly male, I don’t know) refers to Balthazar when you attune to fire and Grenth when you attune to water. As far as I know, they don’t mention any of the other Gods in their attunements, which is a shame.

The question isn’t asking you which God your character prays to (it’s assumed most pray to all 6, anyway, but draw strength from particular ones) but who they were said to have been blessed by through the words of others. I would imagine, if a human found a baby beautiful, they would say they were blessed by Lyssa. If the child is full of a lot of spirit, then Kormir, or courage, then Balthazar.

That’s not to say that there aren’t humans that only care for 1 god. The priests of (x) seem to be those people, and hey, if you want your character to only like 1 god for RP purposes then go for it.

As for gameplay wise, I haven’t noticed it personally. It wouldn’t surprise me if it affects your home instance as other choices you make later on during your personal story do. I’m almost certain I have a priest of Kormir outside my orphanage though, despite the fact I chose Balthazar, so I’m not overly sure what it affects.

Guilds - Time since last logged on.

in Suggestions

Posted by: JayMack.8295

JayMack.8295

Hi,

If this is already implemented and I can’t see it anywhere, then please point it out to me, otherwise:

Can we please add ‘time since last logged on’ for Guild Rosters like we had in GW1? While not so important right now when the game is fresh, it would help when guilds get larger and larger a couple of weeks/months down the line, and can’t accommodate anymore people. This way, I can look at the guild roster and see that we have someone who’s been offline for a month for example and replace them with a more active person.

Thanks.
