Lol @ the OP and the title.
I don’t really have much to say that wasn’t already said. Only thing to add is that it’s really annoying how often the words toxic and exploit are misused and overused on these forums.
That’s a very toxic attitude!
I bet you use exploits like these all the time.
:D
If I add all known dungeon sellers names to my friends list and then send them whispers threatening to join their instances and kick them if they don’t send me gold, am I breaking any rules?
Can I rephrase this?
“Is extortion breaking any rules?”
Wait, kitten is going to get kittened?
There is a dev in game who’s name is “kitten” lol or I guess I have to say kitten -y (great dev though, very funny to play with in WvW while he’s on his ranger going balls deep with zerk gear
)
He’s actually our all mighty Chris “Banhammer” Cleary with his Moon Moon doggy companion.
Well I wasn’t going to out him, but yup
He’s pretty fun to play with in WvW. Even gave us all a karma bonfire as a joke during the season when we scared TC/JQ out of the BL we were in, and apparently they don’t get those free for being devs either. WvW is worth it if only for seeing how funny these devs can be (have another one in my guild now, though only reps when he’s tired of playing our decoy with that Anet tag that everyone focuses on
)
Aye I have gotten a lot better at it, but it still makes me sweat, which isn’t bad. The thing that really annoys me is trash killing, going flying off in another direction if I don’t get a good target tabbed in time can be very frustrating.
Buying paths is pretty much you enter the instance while the person selling is at the final boss, you pay them, they finish once the group is full and everyone has paid. You’ll get the reward chests just like you did your daily path, don’t pay for a path twice in a day though unless you’re ok only getting 1/3 of the reward and no gold
As for avoiding scammers, well it may be troublesome to start but when you have a good experience try telling them to add to friends and that you need X amount of tokens for what you want and to feel free to send a whisper if they do it again tomorrow. I know quite a few sellers who have a deep friends list of buyers just for that purpose, if you know both sides are legit rather go there than LFG.
I’d even go as far as to suggest you post your play times and what you need here and I bet you get some tells from people offering you paths.
I haven’t really sold in a while, but last I saw p2 was generally 6-8 gold, 1/3 was 8+(less often ran) and p4 was in the 20g+ because it’s generally a one time purchase for mentor, that’s for Arah.
Other paths 5-6g is what i’ve seen but really not sure if there is an average.
GL on your skins
I enjoy sword aa. It is more engaging than many other skills in gw2.
Agree with it being engaging, disagree with it being enjoyable
I really wish there was another option that wasn’t such a huge loss. Something between GS and Sword, maybe like a primary dagger or mace that’s half decent.
Wait, kitten is going to get kittened?
There is a dev in game who’s name is “kitten y” lol or I guess I have to say d—e—r—p-y (great dev though, very funny to play with in WvW while he’s on his ranger going balls deep with zerk gear
)
Guardian is a strong support profession, built upon active defense mainly. This includes but is not limited to things like blinds, group aegis, Reflects, and some healing.
Damage prevention is the main focus of a guardian and with that it’s support is outstanding.
That said guardians can be very potent in the selfish category as well. Meditation builds(as you point out) are exactly what you’re looking for. They’re amazing. The sole reason we don’t do well in solo roaming is our lack of mobility and that’s it. In that though it’s not even necessarily the mobility as much as the inability to prevent the opponant from fleeing. If we couldn’t run away but we could also pretty reasonably prevent the opponent from doing the same all would be fine.
In my experience roamers aren’t looking for good fights, if they were guardian wouldn’t have an issue because people turning tail and running wouldn’t be a problem. Roamers are gankers, looking to get kills, if it’s not going to happen they get out of there as soon as possible.
Personally I feel guardian is pretty well rounded, could use some softCC or more mobility but other than that honestly they seem pretty ok, maybe not as powerful as some other professions but really ok. Sure we don’t have a strong condi build but /shrug personally I think those are lame anyways so it’s not a problem to me
That is a good one Tom, but I’ve started using http://wvwintel.com/
It gives you the time it was last flipped which can be useful to know if it was just flipped and you have 4 mins to get there before it can be flipped back or whatever.
let me post screenies vs capturing on video and i and maybe others will do some of them (computer is a potatoe)
Yay potato brethren.
Same thing, Guardian Lupi solos? extra motivation to get mine? heck yeah… ohh wait video? … yeah… about that…
I have to say I’m quite disappointed in the WvW community being unable to run reflect rotations.
I’d start with WvW completion, just check in from time to time and grab anything that you need and is open, you don’t know when the next time you’ll get the opportunity will be.
Opposing color keeps and even the close towers are not flipped all that often and when they are it’s not held for long usually, so get them when you can. At least check your color each week and pop in if it changes to get the easy ones. I want to say it was 3-4 months that my server never saw green and a buddy had to wait that out to get his last vista because he didn’t WvW much so wasn’t there when it did get flipped the few times it did.
ahh that’s much less of an issue, but I think there is a plethora of other things they could better spend their time on than a UI addition to pat people on the back.
I wouldn’t mind a leaderboard at the end that lists a few items, kind of like this:
Most Damage Dealt: Player A
Most Healing Done: Player B
Most Killing Blows: Player C
Most Revives: Player DIf you provide a full list, people can single out the bottom guy for ridicule, insults, kicks, etc. If you only list the top guy, you give that person an ego bump without harming everyone else while giving everyone else something to try for next time.
In my experience such things are more detrimental than beneficial because most people are too big of kittenes to actually understand what the information is saying and not saying.
It’s a great and fun tool for those who don’t put 100% faith in it and use it for what it is, but too many people believe that whoever is on the top did the most, which is simply untrue.
As others pointed out, where does it mention damage prevention through aegis/blind/reflects/etc ?
When it points out total damage is it the important damage that was done to the bosses or unskippable trash? or did that one guy fail a run and start to fight just to pad numbers?
Vuln/might/fury/etc, are they attributed to the person who cast them?
Are people going to look at a scoreboard and say “wow this staff ele is the kitten, look how much more damage he did than that scepter/dagger Ele, geez” ignoring the fact that the scepter/dagger ele was providing all the might that allowed everyones DPS to go as high as it did.
There will be plenty of all of that happening. The people who will actually use the leaderboards correctly already have done the research and testing to know where things stand and have put in the thought and practice to see how the theoretical applies practically. So the people who would benefit wouldn’t see that much of a difference, and the people who can’t read stats for what they are would simply be hurt as it’d encourage manipulation of the scoreboard to the detriment of your team just so you can claim victory. At least that’s what I’ve seen in the past.
Got insulted, kicked, and blocked because I kicked a condi staff guard from a " P1 zerk only" lfg. Guess I’m a griefer..
Condi staff guard… my god…
Dungeons have multiple paths, learn them all, farm them all, suddenly you’re doing each path less than 50 times instead of 145.
AC is easy all 3 paths
COE the same, very slight differences between paths
HOTW p2/3 are lame because of water fights but they really can’t be called difficult just maybe long
COF p3 is kinda lame but not all that hard just again, long
SE… honestly I’ve never done p2 haha but still you’re looking at about 70 if you do p1/3
Arah you have 4 paths, while p4 is LONG it’s honestly one of the most fun paths in the game IMO
TA only really 2 paths to farm so again 70 days
We’re not getting new dungeons anytime soon so go out there and farm. You could have it in a month or two if you do full tours daily. Personally I’m half way there in every dungeon just with the tokens I’m sitting on.
And Bubi, AC is actually about average length, same as COE, though COE you have to deal with the pesky megaservers and prevents.
I really don’t find it bad at all.
That said, I’d be very ok with the #3 suggestion… hard modes?!?!?! ohh wait… they said that’ll never happen
I think it’s very much to prevent singling out commanders and what not. I mean it’s not that hard to find the commander but it still takes some awareness that wouldn’t be required if it just was “look for the name, everyone get the target, when they go in, everyone bomb him”. You have to wait for them to initially engage and see the front runner and assume it’s the commander. Then they veil and you have to do it again unless you remember his title and character look and can distinguish him quickly after the veil.
That is, I think it’s the purpose it serves, might not be the initial idea behind it though.
First, Brazil’s guide is a must watch for Lupi done correctly
Mhm, that explains a lot.
:D We all know who has the fastest videos but I haven’t seen a video that teaches people as well as that one yet. That’s what I meant, Must watch for new players to learn how Lupi works.
First, Brazil’s guide is a must watch for Lupi done correctly
In depth guide on every part.
But, to answer your questions more specifically,
Guardians have Wall of Reflection, with Consecrated grounds trait you can free target place it. With that you can push Lupi to the wall and in phase 2 when he does that barrage of AEs all over the place you can put the Wall of Reflection on the wall at the top, this will cause it to reflect every AE he sends out which is enough to basically instantly kill him, or be very close. It’s a very lame mechanic, it’s not really cheating, but at the same time it’s the same spirit as cheating, it’s a loop whole in mechanics that is very disappointing that so many people have decided to use rather than really learn how to fight this great boss.
Phase 2, you want to melee. Only phase 1 can you safely range as he doesn’t have any special “range only” attacks. In Phase 2 he has a shadowstep to range targets which screws up anyone trying to melee, so get up in there and learn the mechanics, the video above will show you what I mean. Phase 3 is also a melee only, this one is more crucial as he has a “bubble” attack which hits very hard and you need stability/teleports to get out, which some people may not have on their bar as they don’t anticipate having to deal with it because it can be avoided if you play well. That bubble though likes to hit if you move around too much, but get too close to lupi and he runs away and yeah can be a pain, takes some learning to find the right spot (about one body length away from his red circle).
Good Luck, I love this boss so much, still don’t have my solo but I feel I can at this point and I need to go in at some point and get it
I love karma. Anabasis already said everything I could say. We did remember what happened to Miku and did make sure the thread did get the deserved attention with proofs against BolaOcho. The spanish moderators already deleted the thread, so I hope the guy is banned :P
Don’t hold your breath, apparently Heitred was running arah last night… still around…
Finally! Im so happy
Thanks to everyone that
dragged me, uhm, I mean, accompanied me in the last two months and taught me how todie a horribliy, yeah, I mean, fight him.And thanks to my guildie that let me inherit this instance, because I’m too kittening lazy to get one myself.
Grats!
I think nobody even cares anymore at that points, pretty sad :/ Sick record as usually, even better – has a mesmer.
Ehh I don’t really care about the record, but I apprciate the video as an impressive show of a collaborative team maximizing their efforts
Those players worked hard irl or ingame for that gold to buy their arah armor. Who are you to come in and devalue their accomplishments. kittening elitist.
Buying an achievement is still not the same as earning it. Like buying a trophy off someone.
It’s more like buying a Lambo instead of winning one in a contest. It ain’t cheap to buy paths.
“anyone” with ~184 gold to spare that is. ofcourse for only one armour set.~552g for all light med heavy.
I dont care about dungeon sellers. I rarely buy from them because I rarely have gold to spare.
I must be strange. I have yet to see someone in dungeon armour and say to myself “how did they earn that? I would be outraged if they didnt do it the way I did.”
im more outraged when I see people with legendaries that dont know how to stack might, or anything really.
^^ Yup
Only place Necro is bad is PvE dungeons, try playing against a Necro without l2p-issues 1v1 and see what happens
The only necros I’ve seen do poorly in a dungeon are staff/minionmancers. The rest used wells and other utility types and managed to stay alive way longer than the rest of the group.
Staying alive longer than anyone isn’t really a good marker of quality in dungeon, it simply makes it sound like the rest of the group was /meh at best and they were decent. Necros aren’t horrible, but they are simply outclassed by every other profession in dungeons due to the way things are designed. Unfortunate, but true.
Even though i’m a sucker for all the shiny laser swords I never the less think this sword is very nicely done (reminds me of something from the Souls series).
Good job.
It’s a dagger…
tricked me too initially.
Would you also like to see more chubby/fat body types ingame? We cannot all be big and muscular
You run around the whole world swinging a big sword at zombies and dragons, and you expect to be a fatass?
You mean waypoint then do a quick 2 minute jog to somewhere… Yeah you can still be quite portly.
I’m a big guy, though the largest norn fits me pretty well (a bit more of a gut now
) but I use to wrestle and play football. Wrestling season I’d run 3-4miles a day then wrestle for about 3-4 hours. Football would be an hour of lifting, 3 hours of practiced finished off by 30 mins – 1hour of sprints and conditioning drills.
Still, I was a big guy.
Turn on your TV tomorrow and watch CBS, you’ll see some SEC football, look at the lineman there, work out every day, but still big guys.
While personally I can’t keep up with my former self it still bugs me a little when people think that just because you’re large that you can’t be in shape.
Finally a skin that isn’t a laser show! Is not made of light, fire, is not tacky and overdone! It looks menacing, it is rusty, it’s a beautiful tool for any sadistic butcher, me included. Thanks!
What kind of a person doesn’t like colors ? I mean I’m glad you finally got a weapon you like, but come on.
Skip to 1:55 for my reaction to much of GW2’s weapon design. (or watch the whole thing, I find it funny
)
Would you also like to see more chubby/fat body types ingame? We cannot all be big and muscular
I agree. We need more diversity.
I want to see little round asuras running around.
You mean rolling around?
… but I don’t want my character to be Big Mama June, I just want her to be not-a-fashion-model…
I get ya, just saying, if there is a 10% increase on the hip size there seems to be a 10% increase on the garments as well as the 10% increase from where they start making it look like you have Big Mama June hips even though without the clothes you don’t. Same with shoulders.
Like I said look at the largest male norn and the way things scale and you’ll see what I’m talking about. If they properly adjusted that armor scaling to actually fit the bodies instead of just saying “ohh it grew by X, lets increase the size of the armor by X” then it’d be different.
The biggest issue is the technical limitations of their scaling with gear. Just quickly anyone who thinks they could actually pull this off ( I wish they could too) roll the biggest male norn.
Now, if you have it put on that new Noble outfit. Look at the tail part of the coat, it’s absolutely horrible!
Ok, now, put on the Ninja outfit, look at the stupidly large shoulders.
When scale gets bigger there seems to be an automatic function for these gear choices to just expand it in the same proportions… which leaves them looking terrible. There is no reason the bottom of a coat should flare out and look like it was part of a coat 2X the size, but because of the body frame having noticeably larger hips it just automatically flares it out. Same with the shoulders.
I just don’t think they could do it and still have gear look good, clipping issues, /shrug, but the scaling issues and fitting the body types… just wouldn’t look good in my experience. I love my giant norn but so many things are just unwearable because of how that works.
Well, imo this game needs a lot more of simple, realistic weapons. Right now we are an 80’s disco on some bad drugs.
Yeah, I mean where are the garden hoes, butcher knives, etc? Who wants cool looking, unrealistic weapons in a fantasy game? I want to spend lots of my fun time acquiring fake, everyday items! Give me realism in my fantasy world!
…
Cause fantasy means swinging around glowing surfboards and calling it a sword…
To me LOTR is the best way to describe the fantasy genre, look at the attention to detail and realism put into the costumes and props in the movie. They did an amazing job. I’d like some of that style put into this game. Not saying people can’t have their surfboards, flamethrower daggers, or whatever other flashy things they enjoy, but personally I’d like some more elegant looks is the word that I feel defines what I would like the best.
I like the look, but seeing it I expected it to be a sword not a dagger, I imagine the animations would be a little funky, still may end up getting it though if I can fit it to a character.
(edited by Jerus.4350)
wow XD
here comes THE FAT HEROES OF TYRIAwell, even swinging stick and staff will make you fit, heck, even the “run around” part already makes you fit if you do that everyday.
but it’ll be interesting seeing more diverse types of body build.
But all those Mango pies…
Mesmer, ranger, ele and guardian … with the added goal of adding an engi and possibly a warrior soon, too
.
Did I mention that I have a severe case of altoholism?
^^ Though i’d go Engi in place of ranger to start and probably be considering a thief add on.
With a cap on the amount of players let inside, but megaservers screwing you over so you can’t play with your group, yeah! open world is so awesome!!!!!!
You have to be really careful when playing. Once my finger accidentally slipped and landed between two keys and I accidentally pressed two keys with one finger.
I immediately closed GW2, shutdown computer and cut the power cord. After a week I had enough courage to log in again. Luckily I didn’t get caught and can still keep playing.
^ best post
So mr. Chris Cleary.. thanks for giving the finger to everyone who completed that story step.. let me be so kind as to return this favor to you: <^>(-_-)<^>
Anet does it again! GG
^ this about sums up my view on the thread, those who went to the second step and got screwed, are kittened. Rightfully so, but it doesn’t make it an exploit IMO, and apparently ANet agrees. Though reading this I wouldn’t have agreed with the Linen farm being wrong either(it was before my time). Just like keyfarming is ok. Lots of inconsistency here I’ll give you that. Farming has always been a big part of MMOs in my experience.
Linen farm: create endless mobs, kill mobs, get loot.
Ambient farm: create endless mobs, kill mobs, get loot.Linen farm: some players don’t want want to farm linen. Farmers do this for them and sell on TP. People pay market price.
Ambient farm: some players don’t want/can no longer farm ambients. Farmers do this for them, and sell results on TP. People pay market price.Linen farm: mass bans.
Ambient farm: Dev-approved.???
I was thinking exactly the same thing when I read the red post. This is exactly the same thing and was also what I compared this ambient creature farm to in another thread, where people wanted to know whether this could be an exploit or not…
I really wonder how we are supposed to tell what is considered an exploit and what isn’t when the definition seems to change every few weeks/months or so.
That’s always the thing, exploit is whatever they decide it is, I mean look at keyfarming, pretty sketchy and raised a lot of questions… stamp of approval though.
This situation though requires the use of a consumable that is quickly raising in price (3X what it was this morning) to even be able to gain anything from it. Was the linen farm that way? There are other places to use this item, this is simply the easiest/best one.
How did you solo the Lich? How many skeletons did he spawn on you? That one has a nasty life steal….
Isn’t the skeletons a response to being hit with his AE thing?
Indeed, there are the ways you describe, and there is this game exploit. If you found an exploit to drop an ascended chest each mob killed, you couldn’t say that it would be the same thing that the lucky game drop. It would still be a game exploit, but we now know that arenanet permit them.
Ascended chest, and a ToT bag are quite a big difference, hyperbole doesn’t help your argument. Maize balms are on their way up to the price they should be at, this solid farm spot is a nice perk of the season, yes it’s IMO bad that people are locked out of it after completion, but there are still spots to do it.
It’s a clever way of farming, and while I do think it seems borderline exploity, I think in the long run this is actually a good thing. Having these balms means that players can farm ToT bags all year around, which means a non-stop supply of Halloween mats and rare goodies.
Exactly, the only borderline expoity thing though is the instance that is so good for it but you can lock yourself out of. I get why some people are angry about it, but there are other places with pretty great ambient populations.
Context:
I play an engineer and due to the awkwardness of the Flamethrower #2 skill as a blast finisher, I need to always hardcore spam-click the ‘2’ button for it to blast the flamethrower’s number 4’s fire field.
So after a couple of hours of gameplay, my finger’s half-broken and in pain.
So the question is, is using a macro to double-click for me so that I can save my dying finger bannable?
Look.
Alcohol isn’t allowed in the student’s dormitory I live in. Even though ALL the people are 18+ here(legal to drink Alcohol). As our dormitory head said, “Alcohol isn’t permitted” is equal to “It’s fine if you don’t get seen together with it”.
Do you get the analogy?
If you don’t well… Keep breaking your fingers.
^^ like many rules, it’s there to make sure they can bust you if it causes an issue, if it never causes an issue… well, who cares?
I wish this skill worked like targeted areas, hold it and it goes till you release if you have fast targetting on. If normal targetting then you have to double tap manually.
Isn’t it already there?
Tanks = frontline, they maneuver the group push things around and position things while baiting out the damage. Mainly guardians/warriors, though some others can slip in
Healer = Ele/Guards, you don’t need to build for healing power on the Ele either as it’s the blast that does the healing, not the field, well mainly. So drop the field, everyone blasts, guards do some healing through empower, rolls, and what not.
DPS = Necro/Ele/Ranger, with Necros dropping bombs at the clash point, Eles doing the same with meteor/lava. Rangers playing the single target game trying to find the commander and pick them off ideally (necros helping with that as well ideally) The frontline pain train also packs a punch all hitting together on anyone who wasn’t able to get out of their way.
Other professions fitting in that general plan however they can. Thieves scouting a bit to not give positions away early, Engis being pretty flexible, Mesmers being the utility everyone wants but you rarely have because it’s not rewarding (hard to get tags for actual loot)
That’s kinda why I like the larger group WvW battles, is you do bring back that Group Engine a bit. It’s not quite as cut and dry and much more reliant on everyone doing their part instead of leaning heavily on one part (An unblasted water field isn’t going to do all that much group, or an immobilized/crippled foe isn’t going to kill itself)
I think just making more existent weapons available would be a good easy initial pass. My take would be:
- Elementalist: Warhorn
- Engineer: MH Mace
- Mesmer: MH Pistol
- Necromancer: Torch
- Guardian: OH Dagger (used as a casting focus only)
- Ranger: Rifle
- Thief: Rifle as a 1200 range option
- Warrior: Making it difficult. OH Dagger used as a throwing dagger, IMO.
I like some of these, Thief rifle = sniper! I like it. 3 I’d change.
Mesmer: Mainhand Focus, mainly because I want dual beer mugs on my norn mesmer
but, I also see it more fitting than the idea of a mesmer sitting there shooting someone, I rather they be channeling bolts of magic from a focus I imagine it being similar to scepter but more about power damage and maybe like a 1 hit shield bubble (like guard focus) + a clone, both would become reflects though when traited.
Guard: Offhand Mace, I don’t like the idea of dagger or really something just like a focus type thing, I want a secondary melee
Ranger: I want a mainhand melee weapon that isn’t as clumsy as sword, so… Dagger.
(edited by Jerus.4350)
I doubt there is a point discussing this since u have brilliantly announced it on forums and the prices of the respective items should see corrective movement……..
^^ apparently they are up to 10s now, and they were 6s this morning before I left for work. So it’s changing quickly. I imagine somewhere around 30-40s is the correct amount.
Don’t do necro in dungeons… you’ll just make yourself depressed when you play something else and see how bad they are in that situation (wtb necro pve buffs!)
Guard > Ele > Engi > War
Those are the 4 I’d say fit the OP’s criteria very well, but with my personal preference for order. Ele probably fits it best, but it also has a pretty high skill cap. Guard is a bit easier but still gotta know what you’re doing. War to me is boring but it’s easy and solid(in general, what people like Purple Miku do with warrior isn’t so boring or easy though
). Engi is like Ele but not quite as good IMO, still very solid in all areas though.
that’s my 2 cents.
That is ..stupid. It should send ticket to winners, not weapons lol.
So basically those that logs in earliest after the winners are drawn will get the “best” skins? How is that better?
psh who needs to work…
:D yeah, glad they’re doing it this way, otherwise I’d be stuck with leftovers if I won.
I don’t have the math, but in my experience sitting in LB is pretty bad, not a good idea to do unless you need to sit at range for some reason.
The idea with LB becoming viable as I understand it is more about the sword design and rangers as a whole. They’ve pretty much been stuck on sword for max damage. Before the update you’d run in with GS, do your maul, swap to sword and auto the rest of the time and mix in offhand skills. Now with the change, LB has been made to have more burst potential as well as more vuln than GS does. Combine this with the new trait for cripple/chill/immobilized foes giving bonus damage you can use barrage to cause the cripple, burst it out with rapid fire, move into sword and continue attacking maintaining that bonus damage.
So it’s viable in that it’s the superior initial burst now, not that it’s worth consistently camping.
At least that’s how I understand it. Rangers have some crazy burst but it falls off pretty quickly from what I’ve seen.
