Ranger is fine. I still play my ranger in all forms of gameplay and I do just fine.
As for trait points, look over what all the traits do and simply pick the ones you would like. Don’t necessarily pick trait lines in order to get the extra stat points (such as toughness vitality etc)
You get those from your gear. For instance I have 20 in skirmishing, but none of my gear is using precision. I just really like the 20% quicker recharge on my bow skills.
When we killed that golem boss I literally was like, “sdofbsisi;gs;ohg;sh. EFF YOU.”
Our group was happy lol. And yes the last boss was fun.
The less legendary weapons players have in the game the better. I know I won’t get my legendary for a long long time. I’m ok with that though. I don’t NEED it.
It was like getting Obsidian armor in GW1. It took awhile to get, but there was nothing different about it outside of appearance.
Best way to tank in this game is to use snare abilities. Cripple, freeze, immobilize, even fear.
If everyone is moving around using those it makes it easier. Dead are the days of one person even someone with high defense standing and taking all the agro.
Took us three hours!
Was in one group and people got fed up at the third boss who inflicts all the burning damage and they rage quit.
Went at it again with another group and we did a lot better. That boss is tough! It was fun though and required an immense amount of concentration and teamwork.
Then we got to the last boss and he was so easy. Feel like the difficulty is kinda weird in that dungeon for story mode.
I don’t think so, but I think there is just a real limit to how far you can make a stat go.
I was never a fan of creating weird keybinds for my skill bar. I also knew clicking wasn’t going to cut it for me especially in PvP.
I have used a Razer Naga for about a year now and it is the best thing I have purchased for my pc.
Rift was the only MMO that I hit max level. I got bored in all others I tried. If that says anything about how fun the game is.
I eventually stopped playing because the PvP gear grind was too much for me and I was not having fun. (gear grind is just not my thing)
Making your character build is really fun in Rift since you use 3 souls and can even swap between specs (go from support to dps) instantly while out of combat.
You can play Rift for free up to level 20. Go give it a shot won;t hurt.
I’d be playing it, but I will be with GW2 for….a long long long time.
Give your character a bit more defense? These builds are super high attack and super low defense. It is not overpowered.
They are super squishy.
I have encountered a thief like this many times. If you don’t react properly you will die. But they also die very very fast.
Go make a warrior then. I have a lvl 61 ranger and love the profession.
I know they will add this feature in and when they do, I know they will go the gem route. I mean if you think about it, if you are level 80 and are not using your gold for much of anything, you can save it up for gems towards a makeover.
It wouldn’t be that bad.
Can’t wait though. I already want to change my hair color :P
Yea pets are getting better slowly. The F2 skill is more responsive than it was in the past.
And I still run longbow/shortbow for PvE and PvP.
I just love the skills on both those weapons. #4 on longbow is just so dang good. it is my fav.
Hmm I have no idea. Does the combat log show real player names? I also wonder if you can right click on the player’s portrait and whisper that way.
That was awesome!
Working boost to your FPS, if you don't know the trick - you will be surprised.

I play in windowed fullscreen as well. So I will have to try this when i get home!
Use C3. It is free.
The Guild Wars 2 skill system appears shallow on the surface and this is by design. So people aren’t overwhelmed.
If you dig deeper with traits/runes/sigils, you will notice your weapons having different functions depending how you are spec’d.
I am a vet from GW1 as well and I will have to say that the skill system is more complex than in GW1. It is better designed in this game.
I think if they implemented something like how RIFT made Chronicles which were mini solo/duo dungeons it would be a great thing.
So for instance there would be a mini dungeon that can be completed by one or two people in Ascalon Catacombs etc.
The difficulty is still there, but it is adjusted to be completed by one or two people.
P.S. This wouldn’t replace the existing dungeons. They are just a sliver of what players can expect for doing dungeons. So if people can’t form a group, they aren’t locked out of the experience. If they are time constrained or can’t form a group of 5, they can still have a dungeon experience.

I love being the underdog. I’m currently on IoJ and I would gladly move our small guild over if they were all fine with it. I get a lot of headaches trying to get people to cooperate on Isle of Janthir. Last night there were like 20 people fighting outside our spawn and not doing anything productive.
But yea, losing guild upgrades would seriously suck. We are finally making progress and it would suck to have that all gone.
I’ll ask my guild, but not sure if I can drag them with me.

Hopefully they add something in for all you people who don’t want their pet.
My pet attacks people fine in WvW and sPvP. Especially with longbow #3

How can you say you like the Signets when they are tied into the Pets?
Not to mention the traits that transfer daze/knockdown etc to pets.
Then I do not see the issue here. You can stow the pet when not fighting (so they dont grab aggro). When you are in combat, just let your pet die…it is like it isn’t even there. Plus it will distract mobs from attacking you initially.
Good thing you didn’t play GW1. When your pet died, all your skills went on cooldown.
Not telling you to love pets. Just showing you that ANet will probably not do it. If they do it, people will complain that the Ranger is weak when not using pets. That is how it seems to work in online competitive games.
Plus like I said, taking away the pet takes away a lot of utility. If it was me and my wolf vs you with no pet buffed up, you would definitely lose.
I don’t even know how it works. Do pets come out when you enter combat?
Pets offer a lot of abilities the ranger does not have. I don’t have a knockdown ability. But my wolves do that for me. I don’t have a fear, but my wolf can do that etc etc.
Even if you are buffed in stats, not using a pet would seriously limit yourself. Especially in PvP.
I laugh at the fact that a group of 4 people try to finish me off and it takes them a good 10+ seconds to do so thanks to my pet.

Then just let your pets die. What is the big deal. I don’t see them adding in a perm stow any time soon at least.
But it does…every profession has a unique aspect to it. Necro has death shroud, Ele has attunement swapping, Engineer has the tool belt etc etc.
Taking away the pet would make the Ranger nothing unique (besides traps and spirits). Not like only the Ranger can use bows.
But that is what makes a Ranger unique. What exactly do you like? Only thing else Ranger has are traps/spirits.
The Ranger would be a lot weaker without the pet. Not by damage, but by utility imo.
You have to just learn to control your pet better. Can;t tell you how many times my pet has actually saved my life.
Yes there is…Look at my reply. I believe it is ctrl +right-click on the skill. You will see the arrows around the skill icon disappear. If you hover over the skill with your mouse it should say in the tool tip how to disable auto attack.
I have done this on my sword so I know it works. You will just have to press the 1 key whenever you want to attack.
I think it is like ctrl right click on the skill to make it stop autoattacking.
Eh. The build doesn’t look very good imo. Especially the traits. If you are interested in a Ranger support playstyle, Healing spring and that spirit elite is all we have for group heals.
Bring signet of renewal to pull conditions off allies, maybe another trap for more CC.
Then bring pets that will heal like the fern hound.
I would use something like this instead:
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#Mmoc0m0zooxLomonLoaGVapmmacmV
I just threw that together so the trait choices might not be the best.

Yea when I am making a build I first decide what my playstyle is going to be (for my ranger it is decent damage and good survivability with a focus on mobility). Then I look at the weapons to figure out which will work best for that style( for me it is longbow shortbow. because I like the skills on both weapons). Then I look at the traits. Lastly, the stats.
Happens to me as well. I have played many a matches where I had missing traits loool.
I found the answer on the wiki. You get them at rank 80:
Am I the only one who has no beef with the longbow? I use shortbow/longbow and both have uses for me. Especially in PvP.
I don’t know. A knockdown would be pretty OP imo. Point blank shot is amazing as is. I use it all the time and it is very useful.
Guild halls are for sure coming. They were in GW1.
I think it is already pretty significant. Traits specifically.
I use the Razer Naga mouse. I speak the truth that my skill level has greatly increased FOR ME.
Simply because I never enjoyed remapping keys so the Naga works great for me.
The easiest solution for ArenaNet is to alter prices for waypoints. Would be a lot easier and simpler than developing another feature that requires more code/art/sound etc.
I play for about 15-30 minutes when I first get in to work. I’m at a game studio though so it is a really relaxed work environment :P
I have no issues fighting a thief as a ranger. However my utlity skills are very defensive like protect me (pet takes damage), signet of renewal (pet pulls pull conditions), and lightning reflexes.
Swap pets to get quickness and then fire off barrage is a good way to hit/cripple them while they are stealthed.
Ahhhh ok that makes sense.
At least to me it seems their claw could have been killed by a Mursaat.
You can get gear from WvW. You don’t have to PvE in order to get gear for WvW.
So far I only have a lvl 45 Ranger. I plan on playing that to max level, getting nice looking gear I like. After that, I will move on to the next profession.
I know for a fact I will be playing all the professions! Elementalist is REALLY fun. There is A LOT of depth to that class. It is the most complex class to play imo. Switching between 4 attunements is crazy.
@Jordan: I agree with you in a way. I like the idea of a tiered dungeon system. Though some of the explorable paths can be considered tiers. Some can be considered more difficult than others.
I think ArenaNet did a good job of offering a kind of choice for people when running dungeons. I think there is more that can be done. Whether or not ArenaNet will do it, or the next big mmo game, I am not sure.
Nonetheless, it is a big step in a good direction.
I think we can all agree on one thing and say that this game needs improvements and will hopefully be expanded on (For Free!) to include more variety in PVP, which I personally feel should have been there to begin with. And ofcourse try to sort out the long queue times in WvW one way or another. The way it is i’d have liked to have played the game longer, but without being able to play one of the main aspects left in the game, I found myself with nothing more to do.
You will have to keep waiting for WvW then. Otherwise do as the devs suggested and switch servers. If you can move all your friends, just move. On IoJ my WvW times during prime time are around 5-15 minutes.
Also, of course more PvP maps will be released for free. GW1 had a good amount of game types. You just can’t expect for every feature to be in at launch. This game is beyond massive. I can’t image what it is like to be at a game studio with hundreds of people.
