Yea. It was a pain getting it on my lvl 3 necro haha. I had some help though and managed it.
I say do WvW whenever you want. I was doing it at like lvl 3. Just realize you are only a low level so you shouldn’t rush into the fray. People will out gear you. But that doesn’t mean you can’t out skill them.
Play smart.
Grats! Here is to hoping I have similar luck tonight!
Sounds like someone else took control of the Quaggan weather node…hah.
In all seriousness, I think ANet will do something as they are an amazing company.
Whoa. Awesome idea. I like the idea of rebuilding the statue ourselves. It would be like in WvW where you repair doors etc.
Of course how would this work with overflow servers? Does the statue need to get repaired for each instance or just in the main server?
Hi all!
So far my experience with the GW2 community has shown that the people playing this game are incredibly friendly and helpful. I’m wondering if a few of you kind souls could help me out with some info about the Halloween content?
I have an extremely demanding full time job that is consuming huge amounts of my time these last few weeks. I haven’t had the time to look around the game world or the forums to figure out all there is to do. Tomorrow evening I have the whole night free and plan on knocking out as much of it as I can. Could someone be so kind as to post a short list of all the Halloween content? I know about the scavenger hunts (completed #1 and got the book already).
This is what I know about:
-Scavenger Hunt: Act 1 – completed (where do I trade it in for the back piece?)
-Scavenger Hunt: Act 2 – need to do
-Scavenger Hunt: Act 3 – need to do
-Scavenger Hunt: Act 4 – need to do-Pumpkin Carving – done about 20 or so of them
-Clock Tower Puzzle – where do I go to try this?
-Mad King Battle / Dungeon – Where is this?
-Haunted Doors in Human lands – When you enter these is there any specific goal or is it just running around killing the stuff in there?)
-I’m sure I’m missing more?
Before someone comes on here calling me lazy or telling me to look around – I know the information is on the forums and other sites, but I do not have the time to sort through all the posts and sites looking for this info. This is my first MMO and I am truly loving GW2 – I really do want to experience all the holiday event has to offer.
Being a busy person I do realize the value of time and want to send a big THANK YOU to anyone who responds to this post in advance!
Thanks
If you go to Divinity’s Reach, right outside in Queensdale there are tons of haunted door portals (they appear as pumpkins on your mini-map). You enter these to access the jumping puzzle, as well as the two mini games.
The dungeon can be found in Lion’s Arch. Where the lion fountain is/was. It is replaced with a portal now to the Mad King’s Realm.
And you trade in your pages back to the npc in Lion’s Arch where you took the scavenger quest.
I’ve been too busy with Halloween stuff and have not done any WvW for IoJ. I’m sure I am not the only one.
If you want to play a ranger and bought the game specifically for that, play a ranger. Don’t listen to forum talk. All I play is a ranger and I love it.
That game is really fun. I am always terrified when I am hiding.
Yeaa. I am all for this.
On the official website it says 12pm PDT
Just wanted to say I am blown away so far with the event. I can’t wait for the 31st as I suspect it will be tons of fun.
Guild Wars always had the best holiday events and you should be proud that this event in GW2 did not disappoint.
I am already excited for a Wintersday event
I am at work, but by the sounds of all this I can’t wait to try it. Especially after a hint like that Anthony!
I’m sure it was an oversight on their end then. In some way.
Maybe they want players to cooperate with each other and time it all out so people aren’t on top of each other? But I guess that is difficult with 10 random people.
How many people in the instance? I am not understanding the issue. Are people standing on top of each other? Why not have everyone spread out and not together?
I am at work and thus have not seen this. I am assuming it is the jumping puzzle yes? Why not just visit it when there are not a lot of people doing it? The puzzle won’t disappear.
Make housing/guild halls like Rift’s Dimensions. Please. That would be incredibly epic. I don’t care if I have to wait a long time for it to get in the game. I think that is what GW2 needs.
Players being able to be creative and build minecraft-esque structures would be a lot of fun. You could make jumping puzzles and invite people in to try it out. Giving/taking editing privileges from people so a guild can work together to build something.
Please please please.
I would love this. Especially if it was a proximity based voice chat like Planetside 2 or All Points Bulletin. It would be VERY USEFUL in WvW.
It would really help pugs and lots of people in WvW.
Cooool. Thanks for the vid showing the pact weapons. I now have more motivation to finish up the story!
Stays with your account. It is account bound. Store it in bank to swap it between characters.
sigh I have not spent a single penny on keys or chests, infact I am enjoying selling all my chests and candy corns! But what you “supporters” are NOT recognising is that most people complaining are complaining about the crappy odds Anet put on the gamble chests! I think the people complaining have a point. Anet has set out a stall of being on the side of the gamer but it is patently obvious they are a corporate greedy machine that could care less about its customers.
They need to sort this out before it bites them on the backside. YOU will not have a game if the complainers do not spend in the cash shop any more because of RNG low drop rates.
Please do not come back with a “entitlement” argument. It is old, tired and plain wrong .
Do you understand game companies are a business like any other? They have to make money you know. This is their job. Calling them greedy isn’t really fair.
Yes. They are account bound too.
I agree! I bought myself a witch costume and will be buying 5 keys when I get home. if I don’t get a skin, oh well.
Love the event so far. It is even better than the GW1 Halloween!
I love the witch costume! I also love my character’s face when she rides the broom. She is so happy it is hilarious.
I always loved that in Lord of the Rings Online. I thought it would be cool for a bunch of people to sit in the Prancing Pony and rp it up.
I have never done that, but it was cool to know people COULD.
Maybe they will add it later! It would be cool I think.
This is my female ranger as of now:
I’m 3 levels from 80 (finally!). I don’t even know where to begin with the stuff I have left to do. I’m only at 25% map completion.
After I get my exotic gear and the stats I need, I will be doing WvW all the time. That is just what I want to do.
However if that doesn’t interest you, just take a break. This game is very different than other mmorpg’s. I however, much prefer this over others.
It is all preference.
Leveling is so fast in this game. The game isn’t about leveling. Just play it and the levels will fly by.
Instead of setting daily goals of achieving x amount of xp, I would recommend something like “I want to go explore x area today. Or do x dungeon.”
It will be much more enjoyable and you will probably level faster. I’m trying to stay on track with my personal story, but I keep getting more levels by doing other stuff. Kind of a funny “problem” I am having :P
Thanks for the reply guys. I think I’ll stick with protect me as I get good use of that already.
In your personal opinion, do you think 80 hp regen a second is worth using for a utility slot (giving up protect me)?
Also, how much toughness does passive signet of stone give?
I love being the under dog so yes I think it is fun to be outnumbered or outmatched. Makes me play harder/smarter.
@Joey,
I dunno when you played GW1, but in the original game you could use them since the release of Eye of the north for e.g. consets. Later on the envoy weapons where added that required 15 skill points each.
Wow never knew those existed. Shame on me!
Maybe there is a rare/exotic skin that is the same as the vigil legs?
I’d also like to know what armor this is.
What everyone else said.
I am happy skill points have a use now. In the first game they served no purpose after you got all the skills you needed. You would keep leveling and getting all these skill points and did nothing with them.
Good job ArenaNet with giving SP a purpose!
Here is my ranger in two different sets
What hood is that? That’s the helm I want on my ranger.
Order of Whispers I believe
Get a solid state drive. I plan on getting one soon.

It clashes with the design choices of the game and the lore. I LOVE open world PvP. But it just doesn’t fit in this game.
I use longbow/Shortbow for all forms of play right now. Love both weapons. Longbow is very useful with the skills it has. Don’t listen to all the negative people.
Taking longbow for point blank shot alone is worth it imo (especially in PvP).
Name: Joey
Main Character: Estel Wolfheart
Current Server: Isle of Janthir
Interested Activities: Everything. Specifically all forms of PvP.
Active: Some weeknights and weekend mornings.
Additional Comments: I am looking for people to join my small guild.
I can see them being bought expansion boxes. Just like how new expansions were released for GW1. Simply go out and buy the expansion is the way I see them going.
And I am sure they would be priced less than $60.
In GW1 there was a way to save/load builds. I am hoping something similar makes its way in GW2. However, it took awhile for that to happen in GW1.
Ah I didn’t know dagger could do that. Well nvm then :P
I think the Ranger is a fine class too Joey, certainly not the strongest class in pvp, but still capable and fun to play. What the majority of the angst is about at the moment is that the devs nerfed SB damage and the xfire/quickness synergy also appears to have been nerfed. But even more than the nerf itself people are upset about the way the nerf was handled-ie, it appears for some mysterious reason to have been an attempted stealth nerf and the follow up from the dev was doubly insulting because not only did it confirm a stealth nerf it suggested that lowering the damage on xfire somehow magically encourages more interesting gameplay.
Now i agree with most of your run down on the skill sets, but there is one thing I disagree with in your post. You say spamming #1 on SB focusing on condition damage was never the intended design of the weapon. I think this is a pretty silly thing for you to say (unless you are being sarcastic?) since the #1 is the main damage dealing skill on the SB and it applies a condition. Cutting its damage by 7% and by perhaps up to 20% during quickness will not make me use the bow any differently. I’ll still be using all those great cc, condition, and utility skills off cd when appropriate. The only difference will be that my main damage ability and only burst potential from the weapon will be lessened from 7-20%.
So now I ask you, what is so hard to understand about people being cheesed off about this?
Their change might have then been more influenced by trying to get people to be more active in their play by encouraging the swapping of weapons. If shortbow auto attack was the main damage skill of your build, I think that is not a good design choice and they realized that. I don’t think ArenaNet wants people forced into using a single profession/weapon/build in order to be effective.
Now that the skill does less damage, it will get people to have a secondary weapon that will compliment their playstyle. Instead of most people probably sticking with using shortbow all the time. And feeling like they HAVE to use shortbow in order to be competitive in damage.
Maybe there are other weapons people aren’t really taking advantage of to fill that gap of what the shortbow used to be. Or maybe there are more changes coming to ranger that will increase the effectiveness of the other weapons.

I am confused on what you mean.
Hey all,
I have a lvl 65 ranger and play a lot of PvP. I use longbow/shortbow and I focus on Power/Toughness/Vitality in that order.
I have no issues surviving or escaping from people most of the time. I also have no issues taking down people (especially glass cannon builds).
What exactly is the issue everyone is having with ranger? What kinds of builds are you using that is causing all the complaining? I honestly would like to know as I really don’t have issues playing my ranger.
I love the skills on both bows. I couldn’t decide which to use so I am using both and it works out great for me.
I think people are not necessarily using the best weapon sets for the type of build they are using. Shortbow has a ton of utility. Longbow packs a decent damage punch for me and has a few good utility skills as well.
Shortbow:
1. Bleeding damage. (I usually use this skill when I pop quickness)
2. Poison to decrease healing on foe.
3. An evade + swiftness boon for mobility.
4. Cripple for control and some extra bleeding.
5. Daze/stun for more control. (awesome to use right before an enemy is about to heal)
Longbow:
1. Nothing too useful here. Just a standard attack.
2. Decent attack skill here. Especially with quickness.
3. Great skill. Makes your pet move faster and debuff for more damage. Short cooldown.
4. AWESOME skill. Great for offensive and defensive control.
5. AWESOME skill. Use quickness with it and force an enemy to either join you in the barrage of arrows or keep them at a distance.
So seriously. Let’s have a constructive talk guys. What’s up? Maybe there is a better build/weapon set you can be using instead of spamming #1 on shortbow with focus on condition damage. That was never the intended design of the weapon as it is not interactive play.
Increasing duration of shortbow poison to anything more than it is would pretty much make it possible to have your enemy poisoned 90% of the time. Which doesn’t seem very balanced.
For me, I use protect me and lightning reflexes. There really isn’t one skill for us to use, but a combination of them.
I choose specific traits and utility skills for survival though. It is a trade off I made.
The kodan look so awesome. They HAVE to be a playable race in the future.
