Hello fellows,

Just out of curiosity, I would like to gather a list of ALL possible weapons for Guild Wars 2 that are NOT YET introduced. I looked the forum and picked a few, but I’m thinking that maybe there could be more.

I’d like to show my friends how the Engineer works.

But this move would change the whole builds. Thief’s with toolkit or Warriors with Bombs. Some classes would find a way to become OP with a kit.

Static Discharge for Dungeons?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been running dungeons with the typical HGH+grenade kit build for quite some time now, and it’s beginning to get stale. I’m so sick of keeping all my elixirs up – not to mention the grenade spam.

Aaaanyways, I’ve been looking into the static discharge build, but see that it’s always used in sPvP or WvW. Is a glass cannon build like this viable in dungeons? I’d mainly use it for some CoF speed runs for gold.

How survivable is it? Will I always be down, or can I hold my own? I was thinking that with the toolkit it’d be a bit more durable. I’d just like to know your opinions before I plunk down the gold for the armor.

I use static discharge and I love it. I have even seen players successful using the Flamethrower with Static discharge. Anyway this is my build. I choose bombs in dungeons because they have a very high AOE damage and kept the rifle for long range attacks in case the situation requires. I use the SD tool skills as often as I can and preferably on groups of mobs so they can bounce. COF P1 is a piece of cake and in P2 you are very successfully defending Magg against the Assassins.

Anti-Stealth/Anti Thief Ablities

What are thieves going to get for compensation to this nerf?

Thief:
1) Pepperspray: Makes pets unable to attack, run away in fear for 20 seconds. If its cured they immediately are stunned for 10 seconds.
2) Shadow Shield: Makes the Thief to be immune to all guardian attacks/abilities for 10 seconds.
3) Causes the thief to be able to booby trap turrets and gadgets so they explode on the engineer, knocking him back and causing massive damage, this also strips stability.

You are right, thief is the worst class in game! They must be improved! Thief also should get perma cloak and for the love of god tipple the damage. Thief’s should also use heavy armor because a Ninja is strong and all. Swiftness should be special on thief , running 5 times faster. Maybe flying would be nice! And automatically recycle the attacker’s items and deposit them to my collectibles and steal the legendary equipments and make them unbound so I can sell them on trading post.

JubeiTM your build is without vigor, isn’t it? And your sigils are also “wrong”. You should never take two sigils with the same effect. For example both on weapon swap means = 1 sigil is useless.

Hey! In theorycraft everything is possible..

First of all why not choose only 5 runes of the Guardian. You din’t need the 6th that gives 1 second burning, in stead get Dwayna which offers more healing power.

Go healing power all the way (inventions) and unlock elixir infused bombs. Every explosion will heal. Take a bomb kit and constantly spam it running from enemies around and spill glue from time to time to slow them down. The shield will give you more toughness and skill will recharge faster. Push them around.

Take Elixir R to recover from stun, refill endurance and revive faster if you get knocked down.

Go alchemy all the way to have the most vitality. Unlock all protection triggers. Take rune of energy to gain more endurance and hidromancy to chill foes.

I agree with all of these except the 10 level booster

I don’t like pay to win games, and Guild Wars 2 has been good about leaving those
kinds of things out of the game.

But my friend, I already have that possibility through crafting! I can just buy the materials and in a day, add a crafting booster and.. poof! Level 80. Or I can switch to my lower character at the end of a dungeon and I gain one level. COF path 1 is 10 minutes long so I can make 6 levels/hour.

I have a level 80 character, 2 40’s and a 30. I felt like I accomplished something when I got my character to 80, and I will feel that again when I do it with my other characters. If I could just pay to get to 80, I’d feel like I wasted time.

I did feel the same accomplishment as well… back then. But now I have 4 characters leveled manually to 80, two of them have personal story and map completion. So bear with me here! I can draw the maps with my eyes clothes and point mos of the quest locations. I feel I deserve a quicker option to level. Plus I get to contribute to Arena Net.

The next playable race? I say Centaurs!

No centaurs are enemies.

The Charr were enemies before thei pwned the humans in Ascalon.

However riding a centaur would be hilarious.

Soo I noticed the grenade launcher when starting up a New Charr character. Maybe its something that could be for later. I really think the engi should replace that Mine gadget( that used to be a Kit in beta) with that grenade launcher , but hey thats me.

What GW2 Can Learn From WoW

Well … A.net sure learned from WoW’s mistakes, and they weren’t few. The game was good for its time but is long past due.

I agree with most of them but still:

No raiding – Why ?

No gear progression – Why?

No mounts – Dear god, why ??

No opposing factions – Why not? It would spice things up. Charr and Humans still fight. There is the Iron Legion armed giant engines right outside Ebonhawke, while the opposition is constantly attacking charrs in Ascalon.

They made Acidic Elixirs work with Toss Elixir U. Thats a good sign i guess.

Now if only the trait itself would be any useful…

Only possibility to make the throwing useful, is if they also create a combo fields.

Only if the Arrow Cart is an exact duplicate of WvW’s.

That would be a little too strong. Engineers would replace the Warrior Zerkers in dungeon runs

its not fair man. If one pistol will shoot then im gonna play with rifle or something. Its two hand and better damage than pistol. wth i didnt understand anything. Please someone explain this

The rifle does more damage but you didn’t count that the pistol adds conditions. I will mention 3: bleeding, poison, and burning. These take damage over time – look at the small numbers popping from the enemy and sum it up.

Now maybe you know that some items focus on power and precision while others focus on condition damage and condition duration. This is how you judge the weapon and create a build.

Engineer:

Explosive Powder:
This trait now functions with detonating turrets.

Reserve Mines:
This trait now functions with other traits, such as Shrapnel, Steel Packed Powder, and Forceful Explosives. In addition, fixed a bug that caused the mines to not strip boons correctly. Explosive radius has been increased from 60 to 120.

Rifled Turret Barrels:
This trait no longer makes Rocket Turret fire invisible rockets.

Toss Elixir R:
All of the effects of this skill are now normalized to the correct radius of 180 units. Previously, some actions were only effective at 120 units.

Toss Elixir U:
This profession skill now functions with Acidic Elixir.

Yes. Yes you did.
In PvE you can waypoint to the trainer, retrait, then waypoint back to the fight.
In WvW you have to WALK back to the fight after you retrait. Besides, players aren’t going to wait around for you to come try again after they wipe you once…

Some PVE maps don’t even have trainers. This way you have to travel all the way to a different map and endure 2 loading screens. And you are right, in WvW no team will wait for your journey. And you can’t even teleport since the way-points are contested most of the time.

The solution is not to spam the maps with trainers at every corner, that would look ridiculous. In stead we should be able to swap the builds while out of combat. It’s a refreshing experience and I can’t see any negative sides.

A few weeks ago I made a funny post about a possibility for a signet for engineers. I was thinking of signets that could complement the actual popular builds. Here are a few ideas:

1) Perpetuum Mobile Motor (Signet to increase movement speed)
Passive: 25% movement speed increase
Active: Quickness 3 seconds, Faster endurance regeneration for 10 seconds.
Background: This motor is the dream of many engineers out there, especially those who don’t use Speedy Kits trait or boon duration runes. Endurance regeneration dosen’t stack intensity with this.

2) Antikythera Calculator (Signet to encourage the rifle and P/P builds)
Passive: +10% Rifle range and +10% Pistol fire rate.
Active: Gain Stability, Fury and your next 3 attacks do more damage
Background: In order to follow a certain build players feel forced to use grenades, bombs or other kits even if they don’t enjoy them. This impeccable precision relic will empower dedicated Rifle and Pistol users differently but efficiently.

3) Urn of Phoenix Ashes (signet to encourage FT only users)
Passive: Flamethrower damage increased by 15%. Range increased from 425 to 600
Active: Burn nearby foes, +50% speed for 2 seconds.
Background: The Phoenix represent the speed and force of fire. Activating will consume the orb but it will rise from it’s own ashes. This signet will empower engineers who love the flamethrower and prefer to use it as a main weapon. (other FT skills (2,3,4,5) will not receive a buff so players who use it as secondary a utility skill will not be over powered).

Vitality: better resistance vs conditions

If you have a big latency why not go PVT + the classic Might stacking? It works well in dungeons. With alchemy you have better FT damage and easy condition removal.

I’ve seen a similar build somewhere. Seems interesting.
Would using a rifle with sigil of battle help this build? I’m not sure how the might would stack when proccing the sigil though, because it’d mean switching out of the FT and losing 1-2 secs of the Juggernaut’s might every 3 secs bonus.
It’s an idea to consider.

The point is to stay on Flamethrower all the time, not rifle. So if you get a pistol + shield you would have more stats and 2 signets. You can use the pistol to apply poison on tougher monsters, this prevent them from healing, then you quickly change to Flamethrower and continue. With Might stacking runes it won’t be gone so quickly.

PvE really doesn’t matter anyways, there are very few instances where you don’t know what the PvE mob is going to do anyways, and the AI doesn’t adapt so you can make even a build not set to counter something beat it.

Since I know how the mobs would fight I want to have different builds at my disposal. I play many classes but for this example I will use the Guardian. I have two play-stiles: one is berserker with specific (PPC) items for PVE, the other one is pure support/heal with full Cleric set I love to use in dungeon runs. It is a huge grind to change the build every day. Think of it as the same thing except the endless loading screens and time wasted… time you should use playing not retraining.

You asked to have Cyrillic within you guilds. So a non-Russian is going to have a very bad time and will probably leave. What option would a player have in this situation?

In Lineage 1 & 2 there were dedicated Russian guilds and dedicated Russian alliances. While all the rest of the guilds had mixed players from all countries. If I wanted to make a party with Russian players they would only speak Russian. When I asked them nicely to speak in English so we can have a good time, they went: Xaxaxaxaxaxaxaxaxa. But it’s no laughing matter. Because that always left a bitter taste.

So it’s not the insults I worry about. But creating tick boundaries between nationalities. This will be my last post in this thread. Good luck!

- The trait/gear swapping should cost Only 1 silver/swap.
- To edit a trait template you would have to go to a trainer and PAY for it.
- To unlock more trait template slots the player will pay gems (600 gems or so..)

Gele, they ignore us becouse they take our money at the begining, and now they simply dont care what we as a players want from game and from tehm…

I hope this is not true. Unfortunately some my friends already seen the forum and the endless bug / lack of content complaining and they won’t rush to buy the game. I’m sure some people are waiting to see what an expansion brings before buying the game. Because a nicely worked expansion is the best proof that things continue to improve.

Hope i dont steal your thread now op but wanna ask few questions aswell..

I am trying engi now and i want to run it mainly wvw.. i got 2 questions tho.

1: is ther any viable melee specc for engi?
2: is conditions the only way to go?

Still tryibg to find a proffession that fits my style 100% but only have necro and engi left that aint 80. Engi is 35 btw mainly leveled in wvw

1. There is no ONLY-melee for engi. The tool kit wrench hit deals very good damage but it’s not sustainable in a fight. However, many people consider the Flamethrower being a melee weapon. It’s range is only 425. Combined with a pistol + shield it rolls almost like a melee fight.

2. Condition based engineers are strong but it’s defensively NOT the only way to go. STATIC DISCHARGE. This is one of the builds that work really grat if you use full berserker items and. I often turn to it because is so much fun and the damage burst is outrageous. Here you go:

Looks very interesting especially for trolling in wvw hehe. But might not work that good for large scale fights going 20 vs 50 for example.. tried bombs but not really efficient in zerg hunting( but thanks alot for the response

Hey dude, what’s shakin! I’m actually the creator of that build and video and I can assure you that this spec works wonders in WvW Zerg fights. The static discharges, as you saw, bounce off targets multiple times with a large amount of damage! With one rotation, and being properly specced, you can down about 4-6 people! I once ran this spec with 19 other engineers using the same build and we instantly killed a 50+ man Zerg!

Nice to meet you! I am currently following the build with great success in all WvW, PvP and PvE and I will continue to promote your video’s to whoever is willing to learn it. I successfully engage in group fights and I even manage to take down enemies on walls. I mentioned grenades as another option with greater range against a chaotic zerk swarm.

I have recently seen a post asking to nerf the thief invisibility skills. I think they are designed the way it should be and instead other classes should have a chance to detect stealth enemies. There should be two types of detectors:

1 and 2 Detect location: to know the thief’s direction and know where to run/dodge. These should be at least 2 skills/class.

3 Reveal invisible: to see the invisible thief for a very short time allowing you to hit them. This should be a single skill/class.

The thief can be revealed only once every 6 seconds otherwise his abilities would be useless against multiple enemies. There is no need for new skills, in stead the actual skills should have other abilities included.

Ranger
1) Torch/Bonfire: if thief catches on fire, you can see the flames thus his position
2) “Sic ’Em”: Your pet follows the enemy’s smell and keeps a close trail.
3) Sun Spirit/Solar Flare: Reveal the thief for a very short time.

Guardian
1) Staff Orb of light: Reveal stealth enemies aura for 2 seconds
2) Wall of Reflection: See the thief’s mirror image in the wall, knowing his direction.
3) Focus Ray of Judgment: Reveal the thief for a very short time.

Engineer
1) Healing Turret: Overcharge creates a water field, you can see the footsteps in that area.
2) Throw Elixirs: If they land near the Thief, the enemy will leave colored footprints.
3) Utility Goggles: Reveal the thief for a very short time.

I could continue for other classes as well.

I have 8 level 80s, full exotics on all and some with ascended amulets. I don’t consider my self to have a main and I try to play all mine equally. They all play differently so it doesn’t get boring. I’m not using the same 2 weapon skills over and over again. i use at least 15 weapon sets, and I tend to switch weapons around some to change it up even more.

I agree, it’s refreshing to change weapons on a character. The gameplay changes a lot. I only hope Arena-Net will implement quick gear and trait swapping.

I have 7 characters. Now I’m making a second Engineer for a different play style. because I hate changing traits and gear all the time. I still have to level a Ranger and a Thief but that will happen in my summer holiday.

Hey man relax! Berserker isn’t the only viable build. I admit i went this route step by step because I love the risk of battle, the game is more challenging and it forced me to learned to stay alive (to dose my healing skills and endurance the best I can). But until then I played a Knight Set with flamethrower and I did very well. Maybe 30% less damage but I was rarely knocked down.

So my advice to you is to make a combination of Knight (toughness) and Berserker (Crit Damage). Your crit chance will be high since both items give Precision.

If you feel you don’t get enough healing, get Omnoberry Pie’s. They steal life on crit damage.

So in stead of responding step by step to your points, I will link you to a fellow engineer that also uses the Flamethrower.
