Nice build. However the title said “PVE” but your link contains “PVP” setups. You can change the setup from the up-right corner and it will give you access to PVE gear. So you might want to make it right and remake it. You will need to get a new link and efit your post.

The static discharge from cleansing burst and BoB will hit only if you are very near of the targets. Otherwise they hit the ground?

I think you need the goggles to break stun. And since you are the boss of vulnerability applying, it helps. I will try the build, sounds like a lot of fun. Extreme range and viable in close combat due to endurance regen.

I recently started to level my second engineer (because I hate changing traits and gear all the time) and I was surprised on how strong the bomb kit was. It scales incredibly well with power, and on the same trait line there is "Forceful Explosives – Bombs and mines have a larger explosion radius. "

However to get the most power, I use blue items with power as main stats, and Minor Sigil of Bloodlust to accumulate more strength after each kill. At level 20 I deal 500 damage/bomb and no matter how many monsters surround me they all die in 2-3 seconds. Maybe a veteran in 5. The Flamethrower however does only 400 with a slower attack rate.

PS: the FT gets much better later on when the player unlocks certain traits.

I almost never miss with the flamethrower. Trust me, use of for a week and it will become a part of you. You will learn to constantly lure monsters in a line so you can hit them all.

It goes well in small fights. If you want to troll enemy zerg go Grenades. They may take a while to learn but once you do that, you will have lots of fun. They have a decent area damage and 1500 range !

DUELING, ADD, YES, PLZ. They gave us costume brawl, but no duels!? Madness. Most people want duels. There’s no reason it shouldn’t be added to the game on account of the few people that are bothered far too easily.

Indeed but people that are afraid of dueling ingame could not possibly complain about designated dueling areas. It’s a win-win, we want it and the complainers can’t complain about designated areas because all they have to do is stay away from those areas if they can’t handle it.

There can be arenas near every major city. With flat ground and different shapes (round, hexagonal, square like a classic Box ring, etc)

A Non-HGH Build?

Well, there is the Static Discharge build. Typically runs with Berserker Gear and relies on high Critical Chance and high Critical Damage. It’s something of a glass cannon, but it delivers decent non-condi based damage.

I had 10 rounds versus a HGH Grenades engineer in PVP. I used SD. The score was 10-1 in his favor. He used conditions and the SD build doesn’t have enough cures. I can say that in PVP conditions are better, but in WvW the SD is deadly as well.

Hope i dont steal your thread now op but wanna ask few questions aswell..

I am trying engi now and i want to run it mainly wvw.. i got 2 questions tho.

1: is ther any viable melee specc for engi?
2: is conditions the only way to go?

Still tryibg to find a proffession that fits my style 100% but only have necro and engi left that aint 80. Engi is 35 btw mainly leveled in wvw

1. There is no ONLY-melee for engi. The tool kit wrench hit deals very good damage but it’s not sustainable in a fight. However, many people consider the Flamethrower being a melee weapon. It’s range is only 425. Combined with a pistol + shield it rolls almost like a melee fight.

2. Condition based engineers are strong but it’s defensively NOT the only way to go. STATIC DISCHARGE. This is one of the builds that work really grat if you use full berserker items and. I often turn to it because is so much fun and the damage burst is outrageous. Here you go:

Hi all,

I am pretty new to GW 2 and I have created a human engineer. I had leveled up a Guardian to 20 but then I found it a bit boring. I just dont want to be that holy and I like the backpack of engineer – it looks nerdy but I like it. SO far it is only level 10, and I found it more difficult (it is more easily for an engineer to die as compared to Guardian? Or it is my problem?)

Engineers are a totally different concept and are indeed more squishy than guardians. We use medium armor. But playing it right the engineers can prove the opposite. I will go ahead and say it’s your problem since you didn’t understand the class.

I am using pistol and rifle.

Rifle, Pistol and a Shield are the only wepons we can equip
But there are Kits to compensate.

I would like to know whether there are engineers who use rifle and pistol and can play very well? I am afraid that if I cannot manage grenades well I will not be a good team member in the future.

I really hope the distance of rifle can be extended – it is pretty sad to use a rifle which the bullets go even shorter then bows.

Yes my friend there are many ways to improve. I would recommend pistols for lower levels but if it’s the rifle you like we will make it work!

The engineer is a very interesting class. You can’t rely only on a Kit, a Gadget, a turret or even a hand gun/rifle. Somehow (with very little exceptions), the game forces us to combine everything we have.

It is true that explosions are a top damage weapon for engineer. But at a higher level (over 50) you can create many builds since you unlock certain traits and abilities. Also, the rifle is a very good damage dealer if you use a rotation of skills.

Right now I am leveling my second engineer (because I love to do so) so I can tell you how to obtain the best damage. I only hope you like the idea of “Bomberman”.

So get a full Medium blue Armor set for your level that gives +power as attribute. From the Trading Post. Additionally buy Minor runes that gives + 10 power. Note that they must be different, otherwise their second attribute activates. Here are more informations on runes:

So at the end you should have +60 power from runes only.

Get a rifle that also give + power. And get a sigil from the TP. Sigil of Bloodlust (gain +5 power each time you kill a foe). This means you can stack 5 power 25 times. Crazy huh? Just remember you must not get knocked. May be a good idea to stack this on lower monsters before attacking the bad ones.

Unlock the bomb Kit and play around with it. It’s incredibly funny and most likely you will have more damage than other classes at these level.

2 examples of how to engage:

1) Use the Net shot + Rifle Jump Shot + Blunderbuss + Overcharged Shot, switch to bomb kit and retreat planting bombs. Time them right and enjoy as they blow right beneath the enemy’s feet.

2) Shoot the monster to aggro him, plant Big’ol Bomb. Move around with the monster and the explosion will launch it away and to the ground. Switch to rifle and repeat 1).

Conclusion:

Power is very important on the early levels because it increases damage directly. And it increases the bombs damage very well. So what you should do is dodge when you have to and have fun luring monsters in your bombs. KABOOOOOOOOM!

I tried variations of this and it does work well on regular mobs, bosses however seem to be immune to everything CC. See Kaabooses posts about that.

If things get messy and some bosses keep hitting AOE right around them, I can sustain a decent damage with the rifle + Static Discharge skills.

There’s also a problem with these bolts going off in weird directions when using anything that does an AOE or nontarget attack (like throwin a potion, putting down a bob or mine field, using a regen toolbelt skill) so there’s not much one can use with this.

Haven’t used it since months ago because BoB kept missing and the explosive radius problem was present at that time.

This turned out well once I learned the trick. The bolts from BOB and Cleansing Burst will hit if you are near the enemy. It’s still worth it since the bomb build is based on close combat.

In my opinion the “best build” is the one that best suits the player. I thought it’s about time to share my build and get some critics on it. So please help me improve my engineer, which you probably guessed from the title: it uses bombs + static discharge. The engineer can become the Swiss Knife of every party if played correctly. I can’t rate the overall efficiency but I know one thing: It’s fun, It’s risky, it’s crazy and it does insane amounts of damage.

The Items
Armor: I use Exotic Berserker set + Ruby Orbs.
Weapon: Rifle + Sigil of Force

The high Power, Precision and crit damage works very well with the Static Discharge, Rifle and even Bombs. Sure there are great builds that focus conditions but I prefer the direct damage.

Skills: Healing Turret, Rifle Turret, Bomb Kit, Tool Kit, Supply Crate.

Traits:

20 Explosives: III + VII
To improve Bomb radius and Damage and gain +200 power.

20 Firearms: IV + IX
To improve the rifle damage and range so it can easily aggro monsters

30 Tools: II, III, XII
To unlock the Static Discharge, the Speedy Kits because everybody needs a reliable source of swiftness. But I decided to go forward and pick Adrenal Implant. The bombs are the reason I need to stay very close to the monsters and dance around them. Besides faster endurance regeneration I also get a higher critical damage and 30% faster tool-belt skills recharge.

The Gameplay

The principle is simple
1: Shoot the rifle + Static Discharge to aggro the monsters
2: Run dropping the bombs on the monster’s path and enjoy as they explode right beneath their feet.

It’s like playing Bomberman with a very dumb A.I. The damage and bomb radius is quite efficient. Here are a few situations:

Vs 1 monster:
Plant Big’ol Bomb, switch Toolkit, use Magnet to Pull monster. When the monster realizes what the hell is going on, the big bomb will explode launching the monster to the ground. In the mean time switch to Rifle, use Jump Shot on knocked target + Blunderbuss + Overcharged Shot + all the toolbelt skills to release the static discharges. If it’s still breathing, retreat slowly firing the rifle or, if the monster is faster, turn around and run laughing and planting bombs behind you.

Rescuing a downed ally
Most monster are programmed to attack with the highest priority the knocked-down player. So when a party member is down and a crazy mob is hitting him, simply use Magnet pull or Overcharged Shot to knock the kitten down. But if your mate is surrounded by a whole group of monsters eager to finish him off, remember that you have to either res him, lure the monsters so he can res himself or kill a monster that’s attacking him. The attack goes: All the toolbelt skills to release the static discharges that will bounce 3 times each + Jump Shot + Drop Big’ol Bomb + Blunderbuss + Overcharged Shot. If you killed a mob your ally will stand up. If not, the bomb will explode with very high damage giving other players a little time to intervene and res.

Distract the monsters
Although the Rifle Turret’s propose here is mainly the static discharge released by the surprise shot, it can be a good way to lure monsters. The good thing is the whole process does not interfere with the toolbelt skill recharge – so you can simply blow up the turret and continue.

Run Away!
May be shameful but it’s healthy! To run away simply drop a glue bomb on the run, switch to kit and release the box of nails that will add more cripple.

Efficient healing
There are two ways to use the turret: Emergency Heal when you have to heal fast: press 6 twice then Toolbelt 1 to blow the turret. The other one is Preventive healing: Place the turret outside of combat zone since the area effect radius is big enough and only activate overcharge when you see conditions are applied to you or your teammates.
PS: If you use P/S and want to know more about blast finishers, Koroshi’s video is pretty good!

Conclusion
I use this build only to combine fun and efficiency in the dungeons and PVE maps. I haven’t tried it in PVP or WvW since I already have other builds I prefer in those situations. Ofcourse there are many more skills to talk about but I only wanted to write the big picture. Any advice is most welcome. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask. You make a good point. Either sell the stuff and make some cash or complete the monthly. Are the laurels worth the money your losing by salvaging? Depends on what your character needs I guess.

Well, you can get the ascended amulet. It’s the only way to get it. Besides, there are the mystic coins, very important for future upgrades.

Does anyone else feel that salvaging 500 items per month is too high? I feel that 300 would be more achievable. I understand why it’s there, people buy the extra stuff from the trade post to make up the numbers, but still… am I the only one who feels 500 is a bit extreme?

You are kidding right?

600 / 30 = 16. How is recycling 16 items/day “a lot” ? There are tons of way to make items. Doing your daily achievements will surely drop you the items you need.

If it you are in a hurry and are missing a few items buy some white with very low prices.

Then why are they allowing me to make 7-10 Gold/hour in a Zerk Rush farming COF P1? Is it worth having empty maps and low player morale just so bot’s won’t work?

A way to boost pve rewards

So a lot of talk has been going on about the lack of farming capabilities in PvE world for loot etc. and how CoF P1 farming is the clear most efficient way to farm gold/obtain materials for crafting higher tier weapons.

Already meta events provide chains from one to another and usually have a rewards chest at the final event. But people mostly just arrive after the pre-events are completed. So why not have rewards progressively improve for those who have completed gold for multiple meta-events leading towards the final event?

For instance:

Players completing multiple events will have magic find/loot chance for higher tier materials increased.
Chest rewards increase depending upon how many events he/she completed during the meta-chain.

ANet won’t have to give a constant 200% MF buff to a player and then nerf the regular drop chances to oblivion because the rewards are based on participation throughout the chain.Furthermore, this is not exactly exploitable by bots because the location of the farming on the map would constantly chain and is variable depending upon the number of participants per event.

It’s just an idea, haven’t exactly thought about the logistics as to what would be an appropriate value for the increase of rewards/loot (ex. exponential, linear). Perhaps this will also force players to make a choice between farming CoF p1 forever to gain more gold in order to buy the t6 mats or those doing these types of meta events and obtain the T6 mats through those means.

Just to give you an idea, if this was actually implemented, here are the areas that would be affected (excluding dragon world bosses) here.

Some examples include:

Blazeridge Steppes
Diessa Plateau
Fireheart Rise
Harathi Hinterlands
Mount Maelstrom
All 3 orr maps
Southsun cove
Frostgorge Sound

For example, in Harathi Hinterlands you can just teleport and participate in killing Ulgoth and get the same reward as the players who started and aided the Seraph armies for 2 hours in over 9 events.

For those interested, this is the whole chain event: LINK

What if the game adds a higher chance for a better reward for every event the player completed:

+ 5% Gold Find
+5% Magic Find
The percent stacks so it’s in the players interest to participate and build it up. The last events will be greatly compensated.
+ 5% Chance per every event completed to get an exotic item in the final chest. So the final chance would be around 50%. This way the rewards add up and people will be more motivated to participate.

Don’t nerf COF! Buff PVE!

GW2 is loosing it’s player base and people already acknowledged this. I think this solution is easy to implement and may pull the breaks on quitters.

When me and my friends joined the game we thought it’s a good idea to pick a low populated server since Guild Wars 2 is so cool and more people will come. We also thought we gain have an advantage and things will become good if we were one of the first guilds. WRONG!

But time passed by and the player base continued to decrease. There were moments when I was all alone on the cursed shore. Eventually my friends quit as well (5 of them).

The player’s morale is damaged doe to a very low presence. Even as we speak there are players quitting. So why not unite servers with low population. At least make them medium-full. And this way maybe, just MAYBE lower servers will stand a chance in WvW.

So many people expected a difficult leveling. But it only takes a moderate gamer 2 weeks to reach level 80. “The game only starts at level 80” they say. Well, I didn’t feel like that. That’s why I still level new characters.

Never understood why there isn’t one Trainer and one Bank in each map. Just one.

This would minimize the loading times and stop punishing our computers. But it could be lowered to zero by allowing us to automatically swap the traits. Many games already had this 10 years ago. This is 2013 kitten !

Do you guys belive that this trait is good for any build for Engi? Most of time in sPvP/WvW or even PvE you are in move basiclly, so imo this trait should be deleted from game, or re-build it for something more useful.

It would certainly reaffirm the engineer as the stationary turret role, raining grenades down upon aggressors in WvW or using one of the popular bunker builds to hold points in sPvP.

wat? even as a bunker engi, you need to move in the point no mather what, or supporting middle point, so basiclly you are in “move” all the time. Turrets are usless, and prolly never will be useful in this game, where moving is like 50% of success.

He said Turret not Bunker. I even tried a Static Discharge build with Grenades and it works surprisingly well. The grenade barrage is a good weapon to use if the toolbelt reduction (from tool trait) is maxed. So the last one should be scope, imagine the crits you get.

I am sure there would be more theorycraft and applied builds but why waste time if the trait is forever broken?

A chainsaw cannot be infinite…it would need gasoline to run and although there are oil slicks I have yet to see any gasoline pumps!

I recently read a post about a player banned for swearing, I didn’t like this as I tend to swear a lot, and then I remembered, hey, there’s a profanity filter in game, not our fault if they don’t use it, and in my opinion, let them go cry elsewhere.

So, my suggestion is to the players, if you don’t like bad language, use what Anet has given you and quit crying.

And if you have something negative to say about this, I really don’t care, I’m just making a suggestion. :P

Understand how censorship works. Let’s say the game uses “kitten” for a bad word. What is the use of the censor when you get statements like these:

I think your mother is a stupid ************ ******* ********
White/Black/Asian people are ************ ******

You see what I mean? Most certainly you won’t get banned for normal swearing such as: kitten Y*u, or Go To H*ll. I also swear but I don’t directly offend people I play with. know that you have a part on creating the content.

The players that received bans not only directly insulted other players but were also offending and racist.

@ Punkins, you are not the only Dev around, so stop your megalomania. There are companies that build and release projects 10 times more complex than fixing a mere trait bug. If you think a work like this takes months to complete, you still have a long way to go Junior!

@Tigirius you are right. It’s sad that a year passed by and after hundreds of complains and proof posted on this forum, some traits are still broken. We get “shiny” content every month, which is pretty complex but it’s the core that needs fixing first.

But don’t despair. 8 Bank slots are not enough for hardcore players. Pretty sure It will expand even further with the next expansions.

Every time I extend my bank I click the small locker icon IN MY BANK. One day I unlocked and the locker was gone. That’s when I realized I had unlocked all slots.
