Elementalist Meteor Shower Too Loud

Seriously the Meteor Shower sound is absurd. I went with a friend to show him the Centaur Event in Harathi Hinterlands and every single one of Ulgoth dialogue was obstructed doe to a single meteor shower (which was pretty far away). I’m not saying it should be muted but it shouldn’t stop the nearby players from enjoying the game content.

PS: Other classes are not that noisy. I don’t hear Engineer bombs and grenades being loud.

I have done a decent number of dungeon runs (up to 500). The players who state that rangers suck in dungeons are plain stupid. All classes have ups and downs. Besides COF P1 Speed farmers (that only accept mesmer+warrior) I don’t see why a Ranger shouldn’t be welcome.

However there is the other category of rangers, one of my friends fall in it. He is so lazy that he chose this class thinking he could coward out of fights and seeking comfort in ranged attacks. Basically he runs only passives and wants as little interaction as possible. But GW2 won’t let him for he is the most punished of all. And the funny thing is, he complains all the time that monsters won’t leave him alone. I keep telling him that rangers has various skills, traps, etc and are very fun to use. But he is a closed door. And he is not the only one.

I remember once doing COF P2 with a party that consisted in 3 rangers. We failed to defend Magg from the Assassins like 10 times. Then I wanted to follow their damage. It took one OVER 10 SECONDS to kill a single Flame Legion NPC. Oh CMON !!! They spawn like 5 every 2 seconds. Needless to say we had to quit. I made the same run with beginner warriors and did it in one try. A bad Warrior player is a better addition to the team than a bad ranger player. The heavy armor, and more native damage makes them right!

Rangers are very strong in the right hands. But there is this often problem – people choose rangers hoping they would coward out of fights and seeking comfort in great range. But they are terribly wrong. Playing like a chicken punishes them and the whole team alike.

I suppose new PvP maps, new WvW features, Fractals, Guild Missions, etc don’t count?

These are not worth of an expansion, these should be mere weekly add-ons. I expect expansion will bring something completely NEW:

- Classes
- Races
- Maps
- New Weapon Types (Morning Star, Crossbow, Whip, Pole Arms, Knuckles, ),
- More Legendary variety for each weapon type
- Guild Halls
- Player Housing
- At least 2 new Dungeons
- Twice as more appearance options
- New dyes
- Improve the level cap + extend traits
- Add more item Rarity choices because white, blue and green are junk and rare items are merely worth 20 silver. This leaves us with only exotics as a standard.

these were the minimum “MUST HAVE” in order to consider it an “Expansion”.

I say thank you for a game I enjoyed for 3 months. I had fun leveling, I got 3 charaters to 80, I did all the dungeons, all the maps… goodbye!

Wait… No!( But I was hoping I would play GW2 for years to come. Once a month living story is not enough. They are doable in 3-4 hours for a smart player.

The more time passes It proves that GW2 is a game for casual players.

This is an example of players who don’t complain:
“Oooh look what a cute Moa and look at the Sky… wow the sunset is so amazing. ok see you next week”.

Players who complain have a basis. They only wish to play often and have a quality time. To improve mechanics and broken traits. Do you know there are traits actually that are not working? If you don’t care, don’t worry. There are some of us who want the most out of this game and wouldn’t like to see the competition get the best just because GW2 is full of bugs and doesn’t have a late/end game content.

  • Armor and Trait swapping with possibility of expanding slots for gems. With this option I will consider purchasing more armor and weapon sets and truly enjoy every aspect of the game.
  • Weekly Rewards for finishing all Daily achievements (7 days in a row). Rewards should consist in materials depending on the players level. A level 80 will recieve a bundle of Tire 6 materials.
  • More rewards for finishing the story mode dungeons. Suppose we don’t get the 60/30./10 dungeon tokens but in stead we get a random rare item. It’s not much, it costs about 20 silver but it is something nice and will add a minor balance to Story/Exp rewards.
  • A club. Yes, a single hall where all the players on the server can gather and socialize. The town clothes are switch on automatically when entering and weapon wielding is disabled. There should be a music band playing on the stage, bars where players can consume different drinks, boxes where characters ca stand on and dance (preferable female characters). The club should have a funny name, there are tons of ideas. Worried about being too crowd? That’s the whole point.

Engineer grenade 1 need auto attack

This would be a huge nerf for experienced grenade users:

1. You can no longer use the 1# skill to hit stealthed enemies. The other grenade skills only explodes when they hit the ground, but our 1# skill also explodes when they hit enemies. If we lose the ability to cast this where we want without a target will we lose our best counter towards stealthed enemies.

2. We’ll lose that little edge that makes grenades the longest range 1# skill in the game. Currently will the grenades go 1500 units when trated plus damaging out the radius of the explotions. I often use this to reach distant enemies, when they are just outside 1500 range.

3. Enemies will be able to just run away from our grenades when far away. You might think the grenades will be homing like some elementalist skills, but considering that you can run away from rangers shoot and that they are faster will I asume it will be even easier to avoid them.

4. We can no longer deny areas from other players in WvW. I often spam grenades in one spot even when no enemies are there in order to force them away from it. Sutch a spot might be a downed ally, or a keepdoor.

You might not agree with my points, but I know they are some sides of this chance that would make grenades less enjoyable to use for me.

The engineer don’t need to dumb down the interesting weapons we have, it needs the uninteresting weapons to be more powerfull or usefull for players who don’t want skillshoot based gameplay. I think the reason so many want grenades 1# skill to be targetable with autocast is because grenades are so much more effective than the other kits/weapons/builds.

The monthly salvage kit is ridiculous. I have found so many items or used some previous items so i can salvage them and then, they don’t even let me salvage? It seems like i can only salvage the items that make me money that are rare or exotic. I do not know whether this is a glitch with my system, but I cannot salvage any of my fine or basic equipment even though they are weapons. I don’t agree the monthly salvage is a good idea. 500? That’s a little too much. It is a lot of effort finding 500 items that will be able to be used to complete the monthly challenges or even so buy them? Costing us more than we even make from doing these monthly challenges.

What the hell are you talking about? I think you’re doing it wrong since you can salvage any type of gear: Weapons, Armors and Salvageable items no matter what color. The monthly salvage it’s one of the easiest of all achievements, I’m doing it in 5-10 days without effort. 20 days for a moderate players is more than enough. If you ever find yourself in a hurry buy a some white gloves from the TP (sort by price) with only a few copper/piece.

If I want to do this now I have to waste time and endure painful loading screens since some maps don’t have banks or trainers. I can’t believe in 2013 we don’t have the option in “The Game of The year 2012”. This thing is preventing me from using 4-5 armor sets. I want to take many rolls: Damage, Tank, Healer, etc, whenever I want. This option would benefit the players and Arena Net.

Hint: People who want to buy extra trait or armor template should pay gems. I think 600 gems would be reasonable. I know I would buy 2 for My Guardian and 4 for my Engineer.

Then I agree with you. Since you are a hardcore player and a collector you need more than 8 bank tabs. Otherwise Arena Net will discourage you from collecting even further and I’m sure it’s not their best interest to do that.

They will keep coming for sure. Meanwhile make an extra character to keep the items.

Resetting traits costs all of 3 silver…go kill 5-15 enemies and you paid for your reset typically speaking. All of 3 minutes time tops.
Resetting them in main cities only makes sense from a practical standpoint. Your choices now have meaning and cannot be “covored up” by staying out of combat for a minute while you change things. Even teleporting around…add 6 silver to it taand another 30 enemies. Seriously it is not that big of a deal…and no I don’t use a sndard build. I worked with the traits till I found one that fit me perfectly.

Because Higher level fractals are completely different than map dungeons and PVE is completely different than WvW. Yes, to maximize our efficiency we change builds and sets. Some of us change traits very often. We are not casual players saying “I don’t know if my set and traits are very efficient but I will handle it anyway”.

Do you imagine how much this pains an experienced player? It’s not about a few silver, it’s about the endless loading screens and the manual work. It’s time wasted when we were suppose to play not travel around. Add to this that some maps don’t don’t even have banks or trainers.

The feature of using secondary armor and weapon sets has been around 15 years ago. I don’t see why it shouldn’t be implemented in GW2. For traits as well. First slot should be free, and the more sets a maniac player wants, the more he can buy. Just like inventory space. I would instantly buy 3 for:

1) My berserker damage build
2) Condition damage wit Carrion set
3) Healing build with Cleric’s armor

A very good decision to have patience. It’s better to choose between a bad-kitten Shotgun or Crossbow skin for a rifle than what we currently have.

Very good point. Grenades already offer a very safe point against zerg in WvW. Adding auto attack to this existing comfort would make it OP. And I don’t want any more damage reductions.

I just tried to find other solutions for this problem, but it won’t let me link the attack to mouse 1-mouse 2 or the scroll wheel. There is also no other way to make it attack with an easier way or auto-attack.

It should! I set my attack button #1 to the mouse wheel (pressed). Now I can easily aim like this while moving in any direction, easy turning the camera and hitting backwards while running away.

You have the possibility to buy the legendary but you don’t have a favorite build yet? You should choose whatever you use the most.

Anyway I would pick none of these. Quip is very cool but it not matches my style since I want a sober/furious engineer. Predator on the other hand is a sniper and the engineer uses it as a shotgun and that looks stupid. My advice is that you don’t rush to buy it yet, wait a few more months for an expansion. Arena Net told us there would be more legendary choices.

Very few players go to the mists to fight 1v1. Map duels are a must. I often talk to people I meet about the builds/armor we use and there is no real way to compare the damage/resistance against one another. We should have the option for a “quicky”

Come on. Do not post the very old WvW Video, where someone recorded 1000 fights and put one ololol fight in a video. This video is not a prof, rifle is very bad.

I currently use this build with the same great efficiency. Look up the patch notes, it hasn’t been nerfd. Why does it matter if it’s a few months old when everything is the same? You know what is indeed very bad? Complaining about items you don’t have a clue about.

In sPvP you fight with equal stuff not like in wvw where you fight against lvl 12 people without gear. And in this sPvP you can see that the rifle is bad.

Your initial topic was about WvW and now you want to change the whole picture. It’s too late to build false walls to sustain your words.

Subclasses

There should be 3 subclasses for each class, but every sub-class should use a different armor. A very high pure damage warrior shouldn’t necessarily be full plated. High armor usually means more defense and a lower attack/movement speed.

Here are ideas for Engineer Subclasses:

- Light armor: Scientis
- Medium armor: Alchemist
- Heavy armor: Mech/Tinker

I dont get why auto attack is such a big deal.. are you guys sitting in one kit, waiting on cooldowns?? If yes.. ugh.

Grenades are our only possible option for most wvw situations. Rifle is very bad and pistols are too. So that leaves us with grenades for long-range and bombs for close-range.

How… w…what did you say about the rifle?

Here is a rifle engineer in WvW:

Please don’t ever make such statements and admit it is you who has tons of improvements to make. The rifle is a formidable weapon – If you choose your equipments and traits smartly. Engineers are supposed to be difficult to play and a high versatility class, even a non GW2 player would figure that. If you want to coward out behind 1500 range and sit back watching enemies die? It shouldn’t happen and it won’t.

Neat! I just made a warrior recently as per the suggestions on the “Fun professions like engineer, but more powerful” thread.
Looks like I’m in for a good ride!
(He’s Lv 10, so far he’s fun and powerful… love axe/mace! )

I was once very upset on my weak engineer and made a Warrior to lv 80. Being used to the engi I played the war so carefully I don’t remember ever dieing. But I have to admit I was bored to hell and i switched back. Permanently!

He’s also writing it in a situation that would exemplify an auto attack designed to cripple (figuratively) a single target over a raw damage attack.

Since they have the same speed, let’s just look at it like this:
5 seconds of bleeding (we’ll say 5 since reasonable condition duration extension, etc) – 60 damage per second, that’s 300 damage. So they’re about on par.

Except that’s discounting critical hits, which can more than double the damage of any given crit. So, ~2.6x the power scaling with typical berserker gear, begins to put a considerable difference on such damage output. Not saying his numbers are wrong, but I am saying there’s a bit of intentional misrepresentation going on.

Exactly this. OP was talking about a crit build, which is what the rifle is made for. In my post I clearly differentiate and discuss how crits vs condition build would compare with each weapon.

If you are running Rabid armor or something even less likely to crit, like Apothecary, then EG will have it ALL OVER the rifle. But with decent crit potential, hip shot will do more DPS in any reasonable power/crit damage build easily.

What’s more, it’s an auto attack. However, if you would like to show me numbers where condition damage would overtake critical damage in this build in calculated DPS, including things like Rabid gear vs. Rampager vs. Berserker, I would be happy to have that discussion and we can show our work.

And once again, I reiterate that I use both depending on the situation, and am quite sure about my math on this, whether you think those coefficients are wrong or not. I would be more than happy to test and report anything we have discussed here, if only for future users of both weapons to be sure which would be more useful by situation.

I also had this contradiction in earlier posts. So.. Nobody denies the direct damage of the rifle and it’s other skills in a Full Berserker build. I run a static discharge and It is obvious the rifle does more direct damage and the gun is a condition weapon. BUT! In this particular Hybrid build the OP is using the flamethrower permanently. The only time he will switch to the gun is to apply the poison darts on the boss. He will use the pistol for 2 seconds just to apply poison that will prevent the boss from healing. Maybe he will use the shield sills to push, electrocute and create a combo field. After this he will instantly switch back to the flamethrower and continue his rotations. So there is no more room for rifle.

1500 Range auto attack would be extreme. Engineer is not supposed to be push button and win. The devs took out the auto attack so they wouldn’t nerf the damage even more. If somebody loves grenades so much they should adapt. Start by binding another key in stead of “1”.

New weapons are cool and all but I’d much rather see crossbows.

I love crossbows. If you were to create a thread for crossbows, I’d hop over and support you.

Gotta say those main hand for engie sound more like thief

1 sonic crack – hyper accelerate your whip to create a sonic assault. Range 600
2 gadgets reach – pull enemy in close. Strike with the butt of the whip to daze
3 digeredoo – spin the whip rapidly above your head. Dmg enemies in close range. Apply confusion ti those within 600. Whirl finisher

I wanted to make it unique AND supplement skills that the engineer is missing. What you say at nr.2 … don’t we already have the ToolKit magnet pull+pry bar hit ?
