You may be right, only an official poll would sttle the score. In the mean time I keep in mind that 80% of all Guild Wars 2 Lands are completely empty. I played other mmo’s where mounts were a big hit. Even those who initially opposed them fount them cool later on.

Another thing to keep in mind is that 92% of all statistics are made up.

Mounts wouldn’t really change this though. Since you can already go easily to every single area in the game that you have already visited by using Waypoints.

Really? The most important Waypoints are always contested. By important I mean lands like Harati Hinterlands – see it for a clear example.

There is no character renaming for free and nor should be the guild. People will still use this options even if it costs 800 gems. I’ll give one example.

Two guilds decided to mount. Uniting means players from one guild move to another in order to have more active players at once, to have a single chat channel and to build together a guild more powerful than before. Now both sides want to keep their name or at least find a common name that would please both groups. This option is not available atm. It must be implemented!

People who stand against mounts in PVE have no idea how much this adds to the game. Please, please take a minute to think before disapproving to this splendid idea. The player base seem to be dropping every passing week and I don’t want to see only a few remaining to grind COF P1.

How many empty areas are in Guild Wars 2 today? Whenever I travel to lower level areas beside the starting lands I feel like I Am Legend. Very rare thing to meet somebody pushing for map completion. Everybody is hanging around castles when they need to trade and bank, in dungeons to make gold and PVP/WVW. There is so much empty space because once you explored an area there is not much to do. So there must be something else!

I want to ask you: what is the point of a miniature? Beside a cosmetic toy that is following you around? It does nothing. It does not buff you in any way. But still it adds something good. People buy them regardless the price (some of them exceeds 100 gold). The same with be with mounts. They are purely cosmetic and I would love to see people riding them. I’d love to see the an Norn ride a Dolyak, a Charr riding an Iron Legion motocycle and an Asura riding This.

Many grateful players asked how they can contribute to the game somehow. That Arena Net must sell them something. Well, trust us this is it.

Look at this thread! 75% of all people would love a mount. They would instantly go and pick up the guild wars 2 disk, blow the dust off and then hop in to ride and fill the land with joy. Tell me what can go wrong? Still, not everybody will use them. And some of them will get bored and ask for new skins. And so on.

You have no reason to oppose this idea. Nobody will bother you exploring PVE areas. We need players enjoying the full potential of Guild Wars 2 in order to keep the game alive.

The grenades are the way to go if you want range, damage and good conditions in PVE. No engineer should argue about this. However you can use the flamethrower as well if you follow a certain build. Made my leveling very easy and also very versatile in dungeons.

Warrior can get a trait that will enable them to do 3% more damage per unique boon upon their target.

Thanks for clearing this out. Than 20 Might stacking is still considered as 1 boon.

If the turrets are not mobile at all, at least they should grant passive buffs similar to Warrior banners:

Net turret: chance to immobilize your foes on critical hits.

Thumper turret: grants stability
Rocket turret: increase power
Rifle Turret: increase precision
Flame Turret: remove a condition every 5 seconds

Summary:

The Healing turret
- Has it’s initial healing reduced and the passive healing is a lot stronger. When overcharged, the turret now drops a water field on the ground granting healing to allies and removing conditions. They say this way the Engineer will become a very important role of a group and all members should focus on defending the turret.

Incendiary Explosive
It will now apply 4 seconds of burning every 10 seconds. Chance to apply burning has gone from 33% to 100%.

Elixir S
When drinking , the engineer will not be able to use utility skills. They did this to discourage players from queuing combos.


Here are the important ideas the devs shared:

- Plan to diversify the builds and encourage a variety of combo usage.
- intention to buff PVE damage without affecting PVP and vice versa. This way kits such as Bomb and Grenades may behave different in PVP and PVE
- They admit Gadgets are not strong enough
- Too many Engineers rely on Elixir H and very few on the healing turret
- The HGH is considered overpowered. They did not nerf it directly. In stead, the Thief and Warrior can steal boons on attacks. So be careful how and when you stack your might.
- Grenades are still considered very powerful but will not come down yet.

I gathered a few ideas for each passive gadget we have so far:

Utility Goggles:
- Precision buff
- Immune to blindness
- % apply vulnerability on critical hits

Rocket Boots:
- 25% running speed
- 33% chance to burn nearby enemies on critical hits (30 second cooldown)

Slick Shoes:
- Faster endurance Regen
- Spill oil when stun, crippled, dazed, immobilized

Throw Mine:
- Increase Power
- Drop a mine on knockdown

Battering Ram:
Increase Toughness
Knock nearby foes when hit with more than 10% of your total health

The reason I don’t follow world bosses anymore isn’t the loot and the time I waste, but the complete lack of entertainment. Sure, the first visual impact with a dragon/Bahamoth was mind-blowing. But after that, nothing changed. No real challenge, just same grinding monotone mechanics.

No! It’s fine the way it is! Why should there be a single area where level 80 characters should feel a competitive play? The game is very easy as it is.

They nerf the level but not the armor, not weapons stats, and not sigils. Be patent, get your gear and you will see the difference. I kill level 15 creatures by giving them an ugly face.

I would suggest a dark towel.

As a PVE engineer:
- elixir toss radius increase by 10%
- elixir toss cooldowns reduced by 15%
- HGH reworked, now makes drinking an elixir affect the entire party (as if it were a shout)
- turrets scale with toughness/vitality of owner

I want Engineers to have the same party support potential as a Guardian.

I think originally they meant the elixir throwing to act similar to shouts. The turrets are very weak indeed. I am impressed how Arena Net doesn’t take a serious attitude towards this matter since nobody use turrets. The only turret I use is the Rifle Turret but only to get the Tool Belt Hip Shot that works with the static discharge. Sure we use the supply drop because it’s a spam but this doesn’t justify.

Regarding FT/Grenades: I was going to run a Rampagers set (prec, pow, cond) because both kits stack great burning or bleeds well, plus the pistol’s attacks. I was then going to supplement that with accesories for survival (ie – Cleric’s ring or something) Thoughts on this?

I suggest to learn and dodge AOE damages since most of them are shown by a red circle on the ground. Guild Wars 2 in my experience has proven to be a game of extremes. If you go condition, go all the way. Choosing a Rampager set with Grenades is smart. You will not hit many critical but you won’t have to. The condition damage numbers evaporating from your foes will bring satisfaction.

PS: Dude! Don’t forget about nourishment during dungeons! It’s as important as your items. And since you don’t have a set yet, you can count on these. I told you about the Flamethrower, but if you go condition damage buy a few of these from Trading Post:

Condition damage is key for FT setup.

Not really! The burns applied by the FT only last for 2 seconds and only at the end of a
whole shot. Condition damage doesn’t high up enough to be worth it.

I am not sure on pistols, i use rifle for longer distance, higher damage. I would maximize your burn potential which also can help with rifle.

Rifle is the pure raw damage coming from your Power and Precision. Since you recommend condition staking do not recommend a rifle. The best weapon for condition for an engineer is a pistol. It shoots stun, bleeding, poison, cripple, confusion, burning. How does this not go well with Condition Damage?? It seems you are more confused than Muhai.

Since I tried a a hundred build possibilities I recommend every flamethrower engineer this one. It’s my post to another member that posted yesterday seeking advice about a solid engineer build. I recommended the Flamethrower and you Muahai can use it with 100% success guaranteed.

Engineer here, I have rolled all builds possible. For dungeons you have many options but 2 of them are TOP: Grenadier and Flamethrower.

THE WAY OF THE FLAMETHROWER

I will be talking about the Flamethrower because I have played it since a low level and it’s a part of me. I never miss with it although people keep complaining about it. You just need a few days to master the kiting technique since the range isn’t that great. Feel it, become a part of it. You should consider it a melee weapon perfectly suitable for controlling mobs (single or a large group).

I also have to admit that this weapon’s damage will always be lower than other, no matter how high your Power and Precision will be.

THE BUILD

So don’t let me deviate too much from the point. If you want a high survivability get yourself a Knight’s set. This set is Power + Precision + Toughness. Engineer’s health is pretty decent and this toughness will turn you into a moving fortress. Now let’s talk abut Might. Might makes it right! At level 80, a single stack of might gives + 35 Poser and 35 Condition damage. With the flamethrower and the trait 5 from explosives is best to have them both. This build will work in perfect harmony since it stacks might like there’s no tomorrow.

  • The dungeons for Power Precision Toughness are items are: Sorrow’s Embrace and Arah. If you want to buy it from the vendors you will need a lot of tokens. I suggest farming Sorrows Embrace since Arah is more difficult. It will worth every minute of your farm
  • As an alternative you can buy knight’s Rate set much cheaper. It’s not the best in the game but it’s a very decent start.
    Explosives: V
    Traits: Firearms 30: V, VIII, XI
    Alchemy: 30: II, VII, XI

SKILLS AND PLAY-STYLE

Besides having the Flamethrower equipped, remember that HGH trait helps ups get might out of every elixir we drink. Use the following:

- For Healing, use Elixir H (will also grant you might)
- Constantly drink Elixir B to gain fury, might, retaliation, and swiftness.
- Drink Elixir C, converting all conditions into random boons. (+ gain might)
- Ultimate (as you wish, I recommend supply drop for being a perfect “panic” button and often saving your allies.)

The Flamethrower Attack: Napalm blast when approaching an enemy (works very well on groups) followed by Napalm at the enemy feet. Napalm is a wall of fire. If the enemy steps away you can kite them leading them back in. Enjoy a burning of about 400 per tick. If the enemies surround you, dodge, escape and repeat. The alternatives is to push foes back with Smoke Vent.

RUNES

Well, this is an will remain open debate. I have slowly gone from runes that help stack might and boon duration to Ruby Orbs and back. Depends on your preference and money. However the flamethrower damage will not be greatly affected.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

This food will make you almost immortal: Omnomberry Pie. What gives? 60% chance to seal life on critical hits. Why is it worth it? Because of a high chance to crit obtained from all the precision.

Remain in this Weapon Kit and switch to rifle when you need distance (some bosses are situated at a certain range). Why rifle and not pistol? Because rifle deals raw damage while the pistol is conditions oriented. However you can use a Shield with your pistol and the shield also offers invulnerability and help manipulate mobs. It is up to you, I prefer the rifle for the net and overcharged shot.

Weapon Sigil? Iam using Superior Sigil of Fire: 30% chance to cause flame blast on critical hit causing AoE damage. U know..? Another flame blast every 6 seconds beside the one you constantly deliver from Napalm. SWEET !!! However this one is like 6 gold… so a cheaper option would be Superior Sigil of Force +5% damage.

CONCLUSION

The Flamethrower skills recharge fast and you will constantly be busy. Keep a fair distance from the monsters and keep kiting them. You will be the perfect tank in a dungeon and this is a very important role. Although your health will not go down so fast, remember that a good tank does not resist an attack – he dodges it.

Enjoy your free legendary weapon while other grind themselves to death, dragging their balls trough miles of broken glass just for obtaining something half as cool as the Flamethrower.

I saw your “builds” and “game-play advice” post on flamethrower, however they are meaningless. Why don’t you make a video and prove what you are talking about before defending the actual state of the Engineer. Do you enjoy contradicting yourself with so many other players? How about leaving your rich imagination apart and show some facts for a start?

Engineer player here. I have 3 other level 80 because I want to get the most of this game. So I just rolled a Warrior. After trying a few interesting builds I decided to play him full zerker. Recently I joined WvW with the same build just to make a stress test. The resistance is exemplary and the damage is extreme. I constantly have swiftness and 3 forms of speed bursts from weapons.

So I thought hey… it can’t be that easy compared to my other level 80 classes. So i went in Orr/Cursed Shore. I laughed at how veteran giants die in less than 10 seconds. 100 blades + a few normal hits with the great sword and that’s it. I had a faster farming run than I could ever imagine. Mobs don’t get to touch you before you kill them.

What is with this trend? There are a few engineers left and these forums are full of frustration and fear of getting even more nerfings one month after another. Nering engineer became a tradition here? This is one of the most difficult classes in the game. We fit in every party and we are not exclusives such as: “ZERK WAR + MESMER LFG COF P1 SPEEDRUNS NO NOOBZ PLZ GEARCHECK”.

We should be rewarded not constantly punished.

Static Discharge is not, by any means, deserving to be nerfed. It requires skill, it lacks durability, and it is basically comparable in every way to a warrior’s kill-shot, at a more limited range.

How? Kill Shot is a high damage shot that takes a long time to charge up. Static discharge has no animation and is used automatically with our tool-belt skills, and it bounces from target to target. I would argue it takes way more skill to pull of a Kill Shot.

As to the topic of the thread… I don’t think anything is getting nerfed. I like the term I saw used before “nerf mongering”. Sometimes I think some of the Engineer community just wants something to complain about.

Really? 4 Static discharges wouldn’t match a killing shot by the warrior. And don’t even get me started about the range.

But it’s ok, I also got a level 80 Zerker Warrior full with the best items from a few COF P1 rushes and a laurel Ascended berserk amulet ready to spam WvW with lameness. Let’s all become Warriors and delete the engineers.

There are a lot of bomb based build. I even saw glass-cannon bomb engineers in PVP killing an opponent in a blink of an eye. It’s a matter of preference and of curse the lack of range attacks may be a disadvantage.

No! You don’t nerf cof! You should buff other dungeons instead.

Cof P1 is the king of all dungeons holding about 85% of all dungeon runs. How about a system that brings a dynamic balance to all dungeons at once? If a dungeon is neglected, the drop rates become very high and if one is overrun, the opposite.

Of course COF will still remain the nr.1 choice for fast runs and Zerker gear. But trust me you will see more people in Arah and Sorrows Embrace than ever before.

I used to play P/P in PvP and WvW. It’s true that P/P condition build is more efficient: you have more stats from 2 pistols and 2 sigils. But I switch to rifle because I want more direct damage. I don’t want to tank, kite, burn, glue, poison, etc. It’s not really my type to toy with my opponents. So I went full berserker with static discharge build and sigil of air (to add another 2000 damage lightning every 5 seconds as a joke).

When you see a zerg swarm of enemy players coming your way in WvW you wish you had a JETPACK to fly backwards 2500 range! You are level 35, you didn’t finish any dungeons which are a completely different concept from PVE Farming/Leveling. I don’t mean no offence, I only recommend that you take your time to understand the mechanics of your class.

If you want a solution for a lower departure you can use the Overcharge Shot from your Rifle or simply dodge roll backwards (this also ensures evasion).

Engineers benefit from only sigils when using kits such as Flamethrower and Grenades. But in this thread it was promised that weapon stats would also apply. I’d very much like to see this thing happening.

Step two is to get the weapon stats to apply to kits as well. We felt sigils was the more important first step because it creates build diversity. Flamethrower with sigil of air? Yes please.

These turrets improvements [March Patch] are nothing but sand in the eye imho. This isn’t fooling anyone. Well, they fooled me a few months ago with the biggest lie of all: Most of you may know the Engineer trailer.

The video is supposed to be a gameplay trailer. If I knew that at level 80 having unlocked all the necessary traits in inventions a turret couldn’t kill a single devourer I would have chosen a different class

Guild Wars 2 is the only game lacking proper Armor for it’s Engineer class. Looking at the elixir gun fabulous design I see a great potential not put to work. Engineers need Steam-punk themed costumes. Clockwork, tinker, etc.

I still suggest you pick a Charr as your engineer. Humans are so overrated and boring I don’t even care to look at them no matter how fancy they customized their armor.
