Western developers confirmed for most revealing armor in an mmo? Seriously though, this is some Neo-Anet tier kitten.
In what way was GW1 grindy?
The end game achievements like vanquishing and cartography sure. But the game itself was not grindy at all – it was entirely story based and armour was very very easy to get.PvE skills, faction-based titles that gave you access to armor, weapons and consumables and in the first year getting BiS gear was expensive aswell (runes, upgrades)
There was exactly zero statistical difference between 15k armor and 1k armor. Faction titles didn’t exist in the first year, yet ascended thrusted it’s way in within 3 months. BiS gear cost was subjective to the profession that the player was buying gear for, E.G. Totem axes.
It also only takes at most 30-40 hours if you really wanted to max Kurzick/Luxon, which is pointless these days. How long does it take to get full ascended with max infusions?
Zodiac pasties when?
Same stat bonus difference between Lawbringer and Judgement from WoW. However our set bonuses are not tied to armor, so it in that sense is less of an issue. Ascended runes when?
To recap, kitten T2 from World of Warcraft is the same jump from Exotic to Ascended.
Do not forget that STARS beat Black Temple in tier 3 gear on the majority of the players. In some sense you didn’t “NEED” the best gear to do all the content in WoW.
Gosh that sounds awfully familiar.
Enjoy your stay in World of Tyria. . .CRAFT.

This appeases the Nexon gods.
bunker builds…
Doesn’t bunker get shutdown by decap builds? Neutralizing the point renders the bunker useless, does it not? If you’re dying to the bunker. . . well that’s a whole different problem.
The greatest argument against voting and Democracy is watching 3 minutes of Twitch Plays Pokemon.
Hah that’s true, I’m surprised you still bother with this game.
Kitten.
Who came up with the idea to parse out anything that might be offensive and replace it with “kitten”? They need to be shot and tied to a bumper and dragged for miles behind a vehicle on a rocky dirt road.
The fact that my favorite MMO in the world(also my first ever) was shut down for this game and B&S.
Architect edition shut down CoX. It was by far the dumbest implementation of creative freedom in a themepark game. Why play the normal game, when you have AE that can progress you 1-50 in less than a day. Many of the 50’s didn’t even know how to play because of it. AFK your way to 50, good job Paragon Studios.
Bad Sequel dot com. It’s the same kitten engine, and they couldn’t even get the spectating mode right.
CasualCore gaming for CasualCore gamers. It’s so successful that there will never be another bold western mmo.
The game is not designed for players to not be dealing damage. That said, if I could get more loot bags just because I splashed some boons on some people that killed someone else, I’m totally down for a change like that.
For instance, if you’re rezzing downed players, you’re not tagging mobs. Reviving downed players makes you lose loot. Good game.
Can we get a dev to confirm with us that absolutely nothing is going to happen to our character level cap?
Not difficulty level, not FOTM level;
I’m talking about the number on the right side of the exp bar.
This game should be about player’s asdw technique and skill interaction. Not gear preparation.
“ASDW” Good job not using more of your keyboard.
That would make sense. . . that’s why it will never happen.
Why are you looking forward to new Legendaries? They’re just going to get them wrong again where you can buy/sell half the materials to make the things.
Just more useless jargon to ruin the environment unless every single component is account bound.
What I’m waiting to see on Guild Wars 2 is a guildie announcing a WildStar release date before I find out myself.
You do realize Wild Star is a Guild Wars 2 clone with WoW Clone Formulaic aesthetics right?
Yes yes, we all know all MMOs clone one another and every FPS is a Call of Duty or Battlefield clone. Zzzzzz.
If you think the manual dodging makes it a GW2 clone, you’re severely mistaken. Even if it was, I enjoy the GW2 playstyle. It’s the lack of entertaining content that will drive me from this game – I can only run the same dungeons every day for a certain time before I’m done.
Pay attention to the new warning circles from Marionette, vs Wild Star big boss warning circles. I guess wurm circles work too. Same game, same team.
It isn’t the same team at all, just the same publisher. Telegraphs are in all games, and they’re often red to signify “BAD”. I don’t know how you can claim a red telegraph is a GW2 breakthrough, unless this is the first game you’ve played.
But this isn’t a GW2 v WS thread.
No.
Transcended gear plis.

@Judge Banks,
I have as much of the story as anyone who is not in direct contact with an arenanet employee. I would love one such employee to tell me I am wrong on these points. I may draw conclusions as I see fit, as may you. I encourage all those who have challenges to my views here to provide counter arguments and help me broaden my view so as to have more of the bigger picture. If you disagree with any particular area of my points, please present them so we may find which facts and assumptions we disagree upon.
You’re not wrong, but you don’t have 10% of the story. The reason as why things are the way they are, it’s enough to make you say, why even bother with this game. Then again I know people who know and they still play, and still vehemently defend the game’s weak points. That is something I’ll never understand.
The amount of skills we have per weapon set is fine. They just need to be somewhat equally useful.
And we need to have more weapons available for the proffessions, like giving greathammers to engineers, rifles to elementalists and nerfbats to warriors.Having 100 skills on the screen is a pain in the eye.
Don’t believe me? This used to be my UI in WoW before I polished it:Every single spell was keybinded.
Complaining about the UI in a game with a fully mod-able UI. The problem is in your hands.
However with Craft Wars 2, it needs a much better UI if there is going to be any hope for expanded combat systems.
For everyone who says they will leave or quit the game when Anet raises the level cap…you might as well check out now because it’s going to happen eventually.
Unless they’ve changed their minds (and I doubt that), they’ve said before the game was released that the level cap will be raised at some point in the future. I can tell a lot of you are old GW1 players where the cap was fixed at 20, but that game wasn’t even a MMO, nor was it trying to be. It’s pretty much MMO standard to raise the level cap per expansion.
They will probably raise it by 5 levels every so often until we hit at least level 100.
Where have you been?
http://www.mmohall.com/2014/02/11/guild-wars-lord-rings-online-wizard101-make-2014-mmo-hall-fame-class/
Yes – if you aren’t playing anything else and need something to fill in some time
No – if you are already playing something else and it isn’t terribleMissing the LS is pretty much irrelevant. IF it was awesome it would be disappointing to have missed but so far it hasn’t been and I find it very unlikely it can be salvaged with just the last two releases. IF it had some complex plot where you might be lost unless you were there from the beginning then there might be a problem but it doesn’t have that either.
There are supposedly great things coming but they said similar things for the first year. Personally I care more for the present than all those maybes. While they have added things none of it seems to have much replay value.
This is a great time to be asking this question though. After Tuesday’s patch you’ll be able to see if they can actually bring something with lasting value or if it is just another flash in the pan.
There might be new content every 2 weeks (apparently they are taking a break after the next two) but most of that content is about 2 or 3 days of stuff. A few of it was good. Most of it was basically kill 10 rats.
Bugs are still plentiful.
Mmmm, they did hand out a bunch of precursors after the Karka event. I mean missing out on free unique/named exotic hand outs, that’s kind of a big deal.
The whole Ascended gear is just so poorly conceived from front to end. It makes no sense. Nothing in the game is better or more rewarding because of Ascended gear. It just pigenholes you character into a single build and play-style while asking you to grind ridiculous amounts of material only so a certain abundant material can have some economical value.
It’s like how “luck” was supposed to make greens and blues more appreciated and curb inflation. Yet all it does is create more and once people have 300 Magic Find, then what?
Just like with all the new currencies ANet introduced, none of them have a long-term plan. Everything is add-hoc and never thought through to the end.
ANet has brilliant artists and animators,
They have competent programmers,
They have a fairly management,
but in terms of game-design, they don’t seem to have a clue what they’re doing.Good summary of anets strengths and weaknesses. I’d add project management as a clear weakness, and QA as well.
Bad QA would imply bad launch, I’d like to think this game had one of best launches in the industry. Rushed aspects of the game can’t be tested, E.G. Zhaitan. Simple math.

Yeah i thought about those but im allready vigil, unless there is a way around that.
Nope, no fun allowed, even though lore-wise the pact technically still exists.
that was fractals
people got bored of running it over and over and over and over
.
That’s because fractals is awfully boring due to boss centric focus of fractals. Boss design in this game is rather lacking.
Let’s compare a simple and old boss fight from Dragon Nest to say something like the Legendary Imbued Grawl
Judge Apocolypse
- Jiggle its tentacles then fire lasers in 8 directions. Light element.
- Charges up and unleashes a roar, launches and causes push back 3 times. Deals negligible damage.
- Rotating Laser – Charges up energy in its mouth for 5 seconds then fires an enormous laser and turns a full circle in either direction. Deals light elemental damage and pushes back. Turning speed is equal to running speed if the player is near Apocalypse.
- Pillar of Light – Conjures several purple spots on the ground. Fires a pillar of light after 1 second. Launches targets into the air.
- Tentacle Grasp – Reaches out in front of it with its tentacles.
- Shove its tentacles into the ground, sprouting tentacles at range. Each tentacle fires lasers.
- Eyes glow purple and phases backwards, then charge forward at a target at range.
- Hop around 2 or 3 times, deals impact damage to nearby targets. Launches targets into the air.
- (Hell Only) Grunts and turn a quarter way round, then shakes wildly while brandishing its tentacles. Rather long reach.
- Summon Tentacles – (At 2x HP bar) Shakes its body and drops several tentacles. The tentacle will latch onto the nearest player, immobilizing them, and removes all buffs.
- (At 3x HP bar) Grunts and turns a quarter way round, then spins and chases down its target while dealing multiple hits. Light element, causes knock back. Movement speed is equal to normal running speed.
- Pentagram – (At 2x HP bar) (Hell only) Conjure a large star-shaped spell centered around it, followed by an enormous explosion of light in that star shape.
- (At 1x HP bar) Shakes furiously then opens its mouth wide and unleashes 4 waves of pillars of light. Each wave is targeted at each player. Light element, launches targets into the air.
* Judgment – (After 11 minutes) Casts Judgment, (shows of an animation of Apocalypse glowing and firing lasers at all directions), which OHKO’s all party members (unless blocked by a certain skill).
Notes:
- On normal mode, Apocalypse can’t be stunned, but on Hell Mode, you will need to attack his right & left rotation and his chin to stun him for a few moments.
- When he reaches 2x Life Bars, he will summon tentacles that will latch on the player and remove buffs. The tentacle can only be removed if the player is attacked by the player of by the Apocalypse or UNTIL the Tentacle self-destructs.
- If the fight goes beyond 11 minutes, the boss will cast it’s Ultimate, Judgment, and OHKO the entire party unless the attack is blocked.
Legendary Imbued Shaman
bilities
Shield Bubble
Knocks Back
Skills
- Shield Bubble – Summons a barrier that blocks all incoming damage. Must be destroyed through attacking.
- Fire Storm – Marks a large area to be assaulted with raining fire.
- Burning Shot – Burning attack on single target. If successful, target becomes inflicted with Enveloping Flames, emitting Defiant Inferno. This skill inflicts Agony from scale 10 and higher.
- Enveloping Flames – Deals additional burning damage to target and surrounding foes each pulse.
- Defiant Inferno – The flames pulsing from Enveloping Flames, damaging foes.
- Dive: Rises into the air before diving back towards the ground, causing a large explosion that deals heavy damage to any foe caught in its radius.
- Summon: Summons several Lava Elementals.
WOW IT’S kittenING NOTHING
Another person who thinks they even have the whole story, when in reality they can only see the tip.
Also the helmet reminds of the old Lightforged helmet before it went full McDonalds.
Give games to the people who don’t give us games. Thanks Obama.
What builds do no damage? O.o
“Don’t do enough damage”
Leggings didn’t have a cassock in WoW.
This is not GW1,understand that and you might enjoy the game even more.
Ignorance isn’t understanding. Knowledge cannot be forfeit, well . . . I suppose if you wanted inflict great mental decay upon yourself, that’s always possible.
Announced in November 2015, Transcended Gear November 2014.
Unlikely. They’ve said they expect to do a level cap increase, while heavily implying they won’t do a new tier of gear.
As much as people don’t want a level cap increase, it would be less of a publicity stinker than adding a new tier of gear. When people complain about level cap increase, they can point back to past interviews and say that they always said there would be one eventually. When people complain about a new gear tier, they have to backtrack and make excuses.
If you were in charge, which would you choose?
Literally never happened.
Only 350 whine posts to get a feature removed? Why wasn’t ascended gear removed again?
Didn’t WoW tackle this within the first 6 months after battlegrounds were released? Honor being tied to damage.
Korean OP, calling it.
Announced in November 2015, Transcended Gear November 2014.
I don’t think any of the iconic heroes are all that powerful.
Guilds? Instead of Glorified friends list with chat?
Also Guild Wars armor wasn’t that great. Boob-plate is never good armor.
Remember the good ol’ days of SWG, when crafting was optional. People would herald your name across the galaxies as person stature and quality for providing good arms or cheap meds.
In this game, no one gives a kitten what crafting profession you are, because it doesn’t kittening matter to them. Crafting is a part of character progression, nothing more.
PvE only then. Cause sword warriors would dominate. Although wvw would go to kitten. 25 stacks of 25s bleeds at 1400 condition damage would be instagib rng.
I don’t think it would be too much of a PvP problem since players have plenty of access to condition removal. If anything, players might need to swap out a single skill if they know they’ll be facing a condition toon. Plus, if it only detonates for a percentage of the total damage, say 50% for example, then it would not be as scary.
Conditions are dominant in pvp, conditions can be covered for days. It would take all of a shout Guardian’s tricks to reach the bleed stacks. Bleed is already the top damage dealer across all arena. No need to further that.

Obtains max magic find by left clicking on items in your inventory. Expects a title for left clicking things in his inventory.
Title unlocked: Entitled.
But OP, how will you ever make Transcended armor if you quit now?
Transcended armor when? Collin pls.
It isn’t surprising that sales are up. The game is pretty much full on P2W now. If you don’t pay you will quickly fall behind other players.
Also the game still has had no competition to draw players away. Whatever report follows a few months after ESO and Wildstar release will be the one to watch for the real health of the game.
all claims of pay to win are invalid because gems can be bought using in game gold.
both games you mentioned require a monthly subscription.
the majority of guild wars 2 players play guild wars 2 due to the no monthly subscription system.
Don’t forget to highlight the poignant fact about the Guild Wars 2 economy; the fastest way to earn gold is from gems.
Never forget that time is more valuable than any amount of gold or modern currency.
What doesn’t make sense to me, is the logistics behind Scarlet’s attack on Lions Arch, or why Lions Arch doesn’t kittening bother reinforcing it’s defenses ever.
Lions Arch has been attacked/invaded how many times? How many new defenses have been added in that time?
We can go back through time experience historical events, but we can’t muster the resources to put a flak cannon or two along any of the walls? LA is some how stuck in the past with Trebs and Arrow carts as their only defense? The city itself is literally free for the taking, the Fortress of Jahai had stronger defenses 250 years ago. If a Dragon wanted, it could stay at a high altitude and rain down hell wiping the city out within a days time.
As for Scarlet, everything that she does is full plot holes, if you’re at the point as a writer where you have to scream “MAGIC!” 30 or 40 times to get a story across, it’s safe to say you’re not very good at telling a story.
Should’ve destroyed Divinities Reach!
Well it’s a good thing you’re playing Jump Wars and not Guild Wars.
You did a lot of internet research there, Orpheal. Shame it didn’t work out for you. Especially when they were not only used in France but also Spain and Japan and NEVER by the military.
Google isn’t really your friend. Did you not get told when you were in your higher education to stop using the internet for fact-checking? Still, points for trying and typing up more than I’m going to read because people that type THAT much quickly tend to repeat themselves.
Umm, I think you are confusing a sickle with a scythe. Scythes that were used in combat had the blades reattached so that they were parallel to the shaft of the tool, instead of perpendicular. At this point, you have a polearm, not the agricultural tool. Sickles were a common improvised weapon on multiple continents. Scythes, not so much.
War Scythes and Scythes are much more different than simply moving the blade up 90 degrees. Reinforcing and rebalancing of the blade was also an important aspect, as blades made for wheat were not intended for direct impact on iron or bronze. War Scythes do not exist in Guild Wars, only the traditional scythe is to be seen. Like I said before, the traditional scythe is an awful weapon.
Why not do it like in other games?
shhh don’t mention other MMO’s they are EVIL with their trinity, and raids!
A-a-a-and story that isn’t hard to swallow?
Are you saying leveling is hard? In this game? It’s easier to level in this game than Guild Wars 1, time wise of course, but still the point stands.
Anyways for thief I leveled as conditions, but that was back when you could reach 20 stacks of bleeding without condition duration increases, as well as Signet of Malice healing you for each caltrop condition application.
Hide in Shadows works well Shadow arts if you’re having hard time surviving.
When attempting to gear your character, don’t craft gear to wear for yourself till 80, always buy your gear if you need it, and do your best to avoid that if possible. Personally I go looking for gear every 20 levels.
However I must reiterate, don’t buy crafting materials if this is your first playthrough, there is massive inflation on many mid-tier crafting materials due to a crafting system that implores inflation.
I will say that I can’t really relate to your problem directly as I had the benefit of playing in the Early access which allowed for a wonderful solo stroll through much of the world. Mobs with full camp bonuses 10 levels higher than me allowed for an easy leveling experience. Though I will say much of the “New Player Experience” aspect of the development cycle has more than likely been abandoned. Levels 1-79 simply do not matter ArenaNet, and I can see how that could be frustrating.
As far mobs and mob damage, I don’t know what to say, I find that enemies attack too slow and I find myself falling asleep during my 1111111topdps spam.
Finally to answer your question of does it get better? Well, I’m the wrong person to answer that question I’ve always felt that the game has been going to kitten since before it was released.
They were just basically Warriors, Monks, Elementalists and Necromancers all at once to a certain degree
Don’t forget Lyssa’s old activation punishing nature. That kind of qualifies as mesmer I guess. To be fair, conceptually Balthazar and Lyssa were both pretty weak designs. The final iterations of Melandru, and Grenth worked out, Dwayna is pretty ech after 2012.
