On the surface, your idea seems to make sense. However, it could lead to balancing problems and make one order more powerful than the others. Of course, the easy way to prevent this is to make the order skill weaker than normal skills as they did with racial skills. If Anet does that though, no one would use the order skill and you might as well not even have it.
If anything you would be right about any new PvE skill being significantly weaker. It’s an intended and more than likely a continuing theme throughout GW2, as I doubt they’d want something like “Save Yourselves” to happen again.
Sometimes I get the impression that I’m the only one that finds scythes to be extremely impractical as a weapon.
They were actually used a great deal in wars, skirmishes and battles. They were clean cutting and could take the feet from a soldier while some even had smaller variations that could cut limbs clean off.
A true warrior can make anything a weapon.
A Fauchard makes sense, a Kama makes sense, but the farmers scythe or classic scythe presented in Guild Wars. . . well it is a poor weapon when speaking of the dynamics alone.
As far as history is concerned the scythe was nothing more than convenient tool for peasants. Then again discussing the dynamics of the weaponry in a game that has boob-plate is probably a waste of time.
Sometimes I get the impression that I’m the only one that finds scythes to be extremely impractical as a weapon. I’d be more excited for a profession that draws power directly from the gods, even more excited if they could also swap between avatars(purely from a game-play perspective).
Also Ritualist is probably the lamest profession concept from Guild Wars. By far the most passive profession in the game.
Consider the following:
All legendaries come from a toilet. Yet you ask yourself why they don’t feel special, despite the game repeatedly telling you that you’re special.
Armor class never changed with your second profession.
At most dual professions would cause players to think and that has no place in a casual mmo.
I am fully aware of that.
But if I have a warrior character, I can basically use that professions stats and use the abilities of the thief. And thus the issue I talked about still exists.
Would traits even support such a notion?
How would Function abilities work? Would you have access to your primary only, both, or something entirely different?
How would the UI support the merge of adrenaline and combo points?
At most I could imagine shortbow being the best option available from such a merge. In which case Engi/Thief would be silly.
Anyways despite having such a change require more work from the balance team(Gods forbid more than 3 people dedicate more than 6 hours a week to such an important task), the game simply isn’t structured to support such an overhaul. It would take more than a years worth of time to work out just how it would fit into the current systems and UI. On top of needing proper writers to explain dual professions being worked back into Tyria, or at least Kryta/Ascalon. Lest you would enjoy another scarlet debacle.
Right now the professions are balanced around what they can and can’t do.
With dual-professions you could suddenly have a thief with the same armor and health as a warrior, but still be able to do massive amounts of damage from stealth.

R.I.P. IN PIECE Guild Wars, coming to a theater near you.
dervish has been absorbed into guardian.
actually few GW1 classes has been absorbed into GW2 classes.
i think guardian = dervish + paragon
Guardian is Monk + Paragon. The lore supports this.
I want to see the Dervish make a comeback more than anything else….
Dervish making a comeback could very well turn things around for Anet, but I doubt they have the writers to make that possible.
If anything I’m a expecting a lazy “LOL ELONA TOOK THEM ALL” totally ret-conning The War in Kryta and renaming Gwen to Gwon, while redesigning her to have ultra kawaii uguu eyes. . . for the hell of it.

Incorrect, not a single dervish skill correlates directly to guardians in anyway, Guardians are more Mo/P than any other combination. Ultimately more monk than anything.
You do realize this isn’t anything new.
Everything about the story thus far both pre and post living story. I just don’t understand what happened.
The melee combat as a whole bothers me, floaty, automatic, and simply doesn’t feel like I’m bringing down the thunderous weight of a greatsword when wielding one. On top of that, the amount of thoughtless cleaving that happens, the fact that auto attacks make up the majority of your melee dps in a game that totes “Action Combat,” it all bothers me greatly.
If I had never played Guild Wars, I think I might have appreciated the simplicity of some of the mechanics, but I did, a little more than I might like to admit. The simple difference in required APM to function in both games is drastic, especially when you consider that the original Guild Wars had a dedicated “DO IT” button, EXPLAIN THAT!
I don’t understand why they didn’t allow for the same flexibility as their original UI for Guild Wars.
I. . . don’t even know what you’re asking? Are you asking what we think is missing from Guild Wars?
You fail to see what problem they were addressing, many people are under the illusion that ascended is the final gear tier. What was the biggest problem that the addition of ascended gear faced? Crit damage, and all flat percent values simply cannot exist in a gear treadmill, see WoW.
In order to fix this issue, they need to convert all flat percents into numbers that can diminish, have hard caps and soft caps, and be adjusted in value when level caps increase.
Boon and Condition duration will have their days.
I’m op. If that’s what you are asking.
Yeah your bleeds last a very long time. . . ahem
Lovestruck armor skins when?
Time is always going to be relevant no matter how you spend it.
Another example, time spent working a minimum wage job will help you earn Legendary faster. After all you see all these people whining and complaining about how they’ve gone 3000+ hours without a precursor drop.
At what point did people say “Oh you know what is the most fun thing I’ve ever done in my entire life? CHAMP TRAINS/COF/CURSED SHORE EVENT FARM” People don’t actually think it’s fun right? There can’t be that many masochistic players playing a single game.
Sure people are going to cry “Elitist Elitist Elitist”, but in reality, even those people can understand the logic in the difference of farming up 4g-5g an hour vs 50g an hour.
Guild Wars 2 Flat PvE Square miles = 58

To the back and forth kitten posting between you and devata, none.
To those discussing the world size, project size, and whatever worthless derailment they can attempt to grasp at, a small reminder.
So, aside from map size, how many quests did vanilla WoW launch with? Because Guild Wars 2 is much bigger in that sense with over 1500 dynamic events, at least 50 personal story quests per character, 300 hearts.
There is so much more content in Guild Wars 2 than there was in vanilla WoW it’s not even funny.
Which is interesting, because I distinctly remember spending more time with the general leveling experience in vanilla wow. Yet my first playthough with GW2, 1 week Zhaitan dead and story missions complete, 2 weeks oh look all explorable dungeons cleared. Then came the point where you were map completing because there was simply nothing else to do, after that came the endless farming(Also known as the waste of time).
Unfortunately this isn’t really the thread to discuss how dynamic events only serve the purpose of spoon feeding exp and rewards to the player. Whilst making sure that players get to participate the most non-competitve PvE scene to date. However 300 hearts seems in-line with the original planning for WoW’s quest line.
I have 5 tickets I have been saving time to get girly weapons!!!
“Girly”
Now oove dun it arry.
I did not get enough out of my experience??? Moneywise, I’ve got orders of magnitude more then any other hobby I had. Just not very happy that I achieved most of the things (like legendary) relaying on my skills in my real life job instead of my skills ingame.
That sounds like a personal choice you made, not a problem with the game design.
Time spent out of game rewards the player with more gold, than time spent in game.
Since Gold is everything in this game. That’s a bit of a problem.
Try to keep up champ.

This cash shop is extremely beneficial to the game, and positively affects my gameplay experience. -No One Ever
Honestly even if there was a sub, do you think the micro-transaction will cease to exist?
Paying for recycled skins.
Precursors are really rare, but kitten ed be that RNG when I have a guildie who has had 9 precursors drop and others see kitten with over 3k hours played. Hell yeah, I want craftable precursors to end this RNG nonsense that is somehow coded so badly it’s horribly skewed…
On the other hand you could’ve purchased 3409 venoms right now, had you spent every single hour working at $10.00USD( All before taxes)
Because it is too easy to get them. There’s nothing truly legendary about them anymore.
Well that’s implying that at some point in time Legendaries were considered prestigious at one point in time.
Just another Copy Pastarino western mmo.
Uh. . . did someone just say you were bad if you used tanks in GW1?
How the crap do you do The Deep without tanks?
Can you still not turn while immobilized? I loved revving up that 8s immobilize lock with Warrior.
I’d say the only original players who don’t have a legendary, are the ones who made an active effort not to work towards one.
I do think it’s hilarious that people actually believe they’ve accomplished something, and that they’re entitled to be celebrated and honored.
Elementalist : They don’t shine anywhere, but they are good everywhere. In WvW zerg they bring support (combo field) and backliner range dps. In WvW roaming and sPvP they can be freaking annoying to the enemies with their mobility and in dungeon they do great, especially right now with the Fiery Greatsword. Expect them to be less useful in dungeon in a future update since the Fiery GS will probably nerf at some point (but i may be wrong).
Frost Bow, don’t forget Frost Bow. Ice Storm at a base damage of 6500(not including the 20 stacks of bleed), I’d say they have the highest damaging skill in the game.
1 word: Outsourced. Not going to comment any further as it’s not worth the infraction I would receive :p
I’d believe it, I don’t even bother to look at my PM’s anymore because of the spam from moderation.
Most of your cons are my pros.
Coincidentally some of his pros would be considered my cons. Also, best engine?
Yea scrap the PRECURSOR CRAFTING! Those who worked hard for their precusor whether its bought in TP or using Mystic will be unfair…. leave it the way it is. And yea Legendaries shouldn’t be sellable in tp.
Worked hard is either $40.00USD or “Oh look it dropped.”
Neither of which is what anyone would call Hardwork.
Then your loss if using real money for in game item….
Depends on your perspective, is your time worth less than minimum wage?
I wouldn’t know. I have more time and earning more than the min wage…
Point I was making is that you don’t make 42g an hour in game, which is minimum wage. Also you use more ellipses than Dan Brown.

There are very few games that bothered to take this into consideration, ultimately it creates imbalance in pvp, as there is no feasible way to restrict ranged damage based on a characters height.
no expectations, no disappointment.
Being succinct in getting your point across is also important.
“Rework the entire PvE and AI.” Golly, if that’s all it would take. . .SPOILERS that’s not the only thing wrong!
“Class” well there we go again, using that word.
Counter point, having 10k+ AP would disallow for such a person to have any negative opinion.
Just transfer in small amounts, nothing over 100g, or both parties will be auto flagged for something. . . I forget what it’s called.
Cash grab, nothing more.
Pencil and notepad, because this game still doesn’t have classes.
