No, he’s asking if he’s the only one.
I think Jet Li was or is the One.
It was fun back in 2005/2006 after 8+ years it gets a bit a tiresome.
Are you asking if you’re the only one that is disappointed by Guild Wars 2?
Here’s an alternate take…what GW2 needs is not tanking, but body-blocking.
Think about it…if you could physically block enemies, you could ‘tank’ – and it would take skill rather than some artificial mechanism.
(Also, it would eliminate the silly stacking in dungeons and zergs.)
Enemy Collision would fix many problems. However it still would feel strange having an Asuran body block a Giant.
Some of the most terrifying words are “Appealing to wider audience”.
I think the far more terrifying thing is that you could use the words “good jumping puzzle” with out realizing that it was an oxymoron.
To be fair it was hardly a puzzle, however I honestly enjoyed the rat race that took place during that event. I’d say it was more of a test of focus. In reality is all you had to was press “forward” and “spacebar” at the appropriate times, however it still took me 50 minutes to perfect.
I never understood why anyone would ever become tender over something that made try for once.
PvE combat simply doesn’t push players to find any alternatives, moreover the alternatives that exist are weak due to the fact that they scale much less than “DPS”.
Say you want to focus solely on support, you wanted to be the supportiest of the supports. What stats would you focus on? What stat do your support skills benefit from? At most Healing Power and Boon Duration, you could argue Precision for any on crit vigor/might effects.
How about control, what stats help increase your ability to control opponents? Condition duration. . . and maybe possibly precision?
Compare that to the amount of damage increasing stats that exist, Power, Precision, Ferocity, Condition Damage, Condition Duration. That doesn’t seem equal to me, does it seem equal to you?
TL:DR There is no purpose for anything other dps in PvE, and even if there was, there is significantly more statistical favor towards dps than any other available role.
Does something other than conquest exist?
Call me cynical, but I don’t think any thing would change in terms of PvE. Sure fights may be tuned to the idea of having the trinity. However I honestly believe that the developers prefer keeping the game as simple as possible to appease the masses. After all how do you think they feel after the first year Halloween event.
People were so upset that they were not determined enough to complete an actually good jumping puzzle. That would easily leave any dev under the impression that their audience prefer not to be challenged in any sense, or better yet create the illusion of challenge that way what hardened players are left, feel as if they have actually accomplished something.
Some of the most terrifying words are “Appealing to wider audience”.
Ferocity is one of the three stats of the “Personality Roleplaying Mechanic” that can affect a character interactions with npc’s in the world.
Though I’m strongly inclined to say that’s not what you’re talking about. <_<
Yeesh. . . Guardian greatsword would have so much sustain.
Consider the following: The TTK in Guild Wars 2 is higher than in Guild Wars which had dedicated healers.
I’ve always thought that the general group content needed to be more demanding of PvE players.
I honestly thought that there was some sort of gas leak that was causing them to act so giggly. On the flip side, where in the constitution does it say that they have to act professional on a twitch live stream?
Maybe it’ll have a different spelling such as furrocity, which would explain all the giggle fits from today’s stream.
Personally I haven’t managed a way to obtain 2000 healing per second since the first round of Guardian nerfs, and now losing 25% of their effective endurance because of the second carpet sweep on vigor skills. Never thought I’d see the day in which the devs would actively attack dodging.
Anyways good luck on whatever you’re trying to accomplish by stacking healing power.
Personally I’d love to see skills with big telegraphs give more control to the player using them.
except hambow warriors aren’t condi bunkers.
Sword+Sword/Bow was capable of an easy 25 stacks of bleed on top of 10s of immobilize on top burning, cripple, torment, and blind.
They were kinda cheesy, but probably the most fun I had playing a warrior.
The Function: Pressing the skill will queue the cast time, pressing the skill again once the bar has reached full will complete the cast.
Why: In the twitch stream today developers spoke of skillful play and counter play, but there hasn’t been much discussion on countering counter play, I believe this would solve many of the issues with skills that have lengthy cast times, and their effectiveness in all situations. After all there’s nothing quite like your own team mates accidentally working against you, so that you miss your churning earth. Moreover how many times have you failed to react to a skill with a 3s-4s cast? Honestly, getting hit by a churning earth is kind of embarrassing if you saw it coming.
Naturally this would effect more skills than simply Churning Earth.
Skills Such as:
- Kill Shot
- Judgement
- Possibly the new Pin Down(?)
- Churning Earth as stated before
- Spinal Shivers(?)
- Magnet(?)
- Polymorph(?)
- Back Breaker(Hardly necessary, but it would be entertaining to see a hammer warrior rounding a corner with a prepped Back Breaker.)
Notes
The average human reaction time is around 0.15s-0.30s, so I tried to add in some other “Big play burst skills” that would benefit from such a change.
Skills that allow for casting and moving would remain the same, as such for skills that don’t allow for movement while casting.
The skills marked with a(?) are skills I don’t have extensive experience with, and thus don’t feel fully comfortable in nominating it in such a drastic change.
This would exist provide a counter to any human being that is capable of counting, at cost of “dps” a player would choose to delay his “burst” skill in order to juke players who preemptively dodge.
Thoughts?
I have a dream, a dream in which Draconic Legs get nerfed.
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT TOPIC!
So important. . .

#World of Mist Wars?
If it worked in Tera how come Tera went Flop to Play?
This is why they put encounters like the Shadow Behemoth in starting areas.
I still have to get to level 15. Even though 99% of that encounter is stand in one place and abuse the 1 key.
Yep, you’re still missing the point. You might not personally like the combat, but compared to combat in most MMOs, this is like a breath of fresh air. You’re not stuck standing in one place casting, you’re actively moving and dodging and you know, when the manifesto was made that wasn’t very common. This is why Colin said we want to change the way people view combat.
Lots of people love the combat in this game.
Those who don’t? Well, everyone is entitled to an opinion. But it doesn’t make the manifesto a untrue.
‘I swung a sword. I swung a sword again. Hey! I swung it again.’ -Captain Smilez
What would one say is the equivalent of Quarter Knocking or Quarter Stepping in Guild Wars 2? Dancing with your weapon out? Stacking legendary auras?
Call me when the combat is strong enough to foster emergent gameplay.
Anyone who doesn’t know that MMOs change during development shouldn’t be playing MMOs.
Careful with that, friend, not everyone who plays MMOs are completely reasonable and logical adults. Some are just too young to really grasp how things happen and games have things just . . . not manage to make it.
I think it’s completely reasonable even independent of a developer telling you that you would have things you loved from an original to a sequel to expect something.
We got nothing, except lore.
Well, I wouldn’t say, “nothing,” but I see very little of GW1 in GW2.
I’m not being funny but i struggle to see anything, take away the lore and the name, what in gw2 reminds you of gw1? what did we get?
Inb4 we get some retroactive continuity due to the biased human perspective of Guild Wars, as to further the forced Salad agenda.
NCSOFT UNVEILS ARENANET’S HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED COMPETITIVE ROLE PLAYING GAME, GUILD WARS
The thing that stings the most is the fact that they were able to deliver on their promises. . . what happened?
Replay old story.
Cero since November of the first year.
Just wondering who got the most.
Type /age and /deaths in chat.
Personally:
Died 7,216 times.
Played 3241 hours on this character, 3,400 hours over all characters.
This has to be from pvp, 2 deaths an hour in PvE over 3200 hours is unimaginable. Not even Valve testers could achieve such greatness.
Don’t hold your breath, as long as Ms. Angel McCoy is employed.
B-but why is “X” happening?
kittenING MAGIC!
All the while you’ve never felt more apathetic towards a story.
That has to be an Academy Award material unto itself!
OR BETTER YET! We can turn the forums into the same garbage as steam and steams leveling process, as way to profit off those with no self control!
Much of the original lore has been tossed out the window as of this game. I wouldn’t expect anything from the Mursaat in the near future though.
Much of Guild Wars has been tossed out in the name of reaching a broader audience.
Personal Story and Story mode dungeons, hell the story as a whole is absolutely upsetting.

See that mountain there? You can climb it.
Beyond the lies, the Dan Brown tier writing, and the somehow lower APM from their previous installment, wasted potential is the best way I can describe the game.
Daily 30m restarts have been my best experience.
Zerker gear is not the problem.
Poor dungeon and combat design is the problem.
How do you fix it?
You don’t! At some point during the development cycle, someone decided that the bosses in Guild Wars 2 should be no more challenging than a boss from Mega Man 2.
Thieves also have enough teleportational abilities to make some sort of take people with them
… just thought about being able to Scorpion Wire allies. Fun times. :-)
Similar to portal mechanics, there would need to be an “activation” (confirmation), so that unfortunately limits some more-interesting possibilities.
Imagine if this game had a better applied physics engine. “Scorpion wiring” a team mate up ledges, or enemies down from them.
It’s just particle pollution, should’ve been fixed 2 years ago.
Another issue is what prevents players from simply setting their gamma and brightness beyond the maximum of what is allowed?
If Nexon IS somehow pulling the strings with their 15% share in NCSoft (which is a shade of a stretch)… they’ve been keeping pretty well in line with cash shop items being largely cosmetic or of little consequence.
Maybe I’m just immune to the draw, but I can say there has been NOTHING in the Gem Store that I’ve felt forced or coerced into buying… or even look at the store at all.
On the other hand you can look at it like this. Imagine things that are mostly cash shop only, not actually being a part of the cash shop. Imagine these things being Karma based instead.
Maybe even imagine a Guild Wars 2 that wasn’t forced to release early. Possibly a Zhaitan fight that didn’t make you want to commit sudoku.
Blade and Soul has the same system also called VIP with levels so I already assumed this was for China
Realistically it’s a much better system than the original B&S sub system. It’s a really kittening expensive game to play in Korea, yet still manages to be in their top 10 game rankings.
For example, it’s 23000 Korean WON a month to play. Where as VIP in Korea gives you all basic functionality as well as some extra QOL tidbits, for only $2.00USD a month.
NEXON s…t.
Well at least someone knows who actually calls the shots on everything these days.
OP thinks Zhaitan fight was a good fight.
Does fun equate to always winning and always farming?
If so, then the answer is: HOP ABOARD!
Isn’t this everything that casual core gamers love? You know. . . everything wrong with game design these days, isn’t that the standard?
It really does take some Shaolin discipline to uphold any semblance of the “code of conduct rules” when threads like this crop up.
Also I would like to point out, CALLED IT! 2014 year of the sheqel.
Duoing grenth before he got buffed, and being a part of the first Arah opening. Probably the few times where I felt like I had to try.
