The fact that most of these items ever existed is just blatantly a bug. The decision to throw cooldowns on them were for server performance/stability as the patch notes said, not for balance. Period. This was something that was long overdue.

Think of it this way: Between the embers and whistle, those items were effectively doubling/tripling the amount of players active in a map.

As for the Charrzooka, I’m not sure what the reasoning behind that change was. That wasn’t part of the change to summons, or at least that I’m aware of.

Being able to dodge twice in a row makes you good? i thought that was a requirement in this game.
It takes 2.3 seconds to dodge twice after that you endurance is consumed( unless you use some sort of utility or a trait) so after 2.3 seconds in combat you WILL get hit atleast once and your scholar rune becomes useless. Still not sold…

I guess people in this thread never run content that’s harder than COF or COE, and ask for heavies only and experienced only, when they themselves are not.

Mobility only matters in WvW. In most PvE content mobility is pointless and in sPvP you have point capture (and you shouldnt go to far point anyway).

PvE is boring as hell, takes no skill tod o most of the content
S/TPvP is just Yawn.

I find it funny that you say this. Because the same people that say PVE takes no skill are the ones dying to almost anything/everything, or are wearing PVT in dungeons, and still die.

Also: s/tpvp isnt “yawn” but it’s not your thing. Insulting other game modes while you do the easiest to get away with bad play (wvw), doesn’t really say much about you or your opinions does it?

Working as intended… I believe the balance team has indicated that they intend to introduce a new buff to the necro next patch.

The necro health pool will also lose 20% health every 10secs until below the Siphoned Power trigger point.

Gain might when your health falls below the threshold.

IMHO this will be a game breaking patch, the necro will be so OP that no one will play any other profession.

The fact that you can complete 80% (100% according to some) of the content in this game without the need of build diversity aka full berserker… is not broken ?

The fact that because of the above reason, in the current PvE diversity is not embraced but criticized… is not broken ?

The fact that 1 year into the game you can still do corner stacking (exploit ??) to favor the above two statements… is not broken ?

The fact that all of the above statements lead to people mindlessly doing only part of the overall content… over and over again… is not broken ?

The fact that in the current PvE being at range most of the time offers no benefit vs being in melee (that’s why they can go full berserker everywhere… ask spoj how he does fractals berserker melee necro… that’s what he said, so… if someone can do it, everyone can do it)… is not broken ?

The fact that in the current PvE system… tanking is not requied, neither is debuffing… or healing… which puts some classes that act as a debuffer at a heavy disadvantage (as in who would want a necromancer for chill, blind and weakness – those aren’t even considered group support, because they are not needed or equivalent to the warrior group support, which favors corner stacking full berserker steam roll)… this is not broken ?

Are we not playing the same game ? Or am i the only one that wants diversity… and content that demands diversity ?

Theorycrafting an effective PvE necro meta

Necromancer isn’t bad in PvE at all… it is the PvE that is bad…

Let me explain…
For example… warriors do more damage in melee range then necromancers do at range, because no one would ever play a warrior in melee, if there was another class that could do the same damage or more at range… especially since melee range doesn’t have the same DPS uptime as range does. Not having the same DPS uptime as range makes the meleers overall effectiveness as high as the range… as in they do more damage less often vs less damage more often.

Now… in this current “we do only CoF p1 fast run just warriors 10k achievement points or kick” stupid PvE system… melee classes are not punished enough for staying melee, so you can actually have 100% DPS uptime even in melee… and therefor warrior > necromancer.

They can’t increase necromancer damage to match warrior damage, because then no one would play warrior. They would do that if there were more necromancers then warriors, from a marketing point of view, but they aren’t…

So… now you have it. The only thing they can do is fix PvE, not chance the necromancer or any other sub par class, cause that would just place us further away from a good game.

In conclusion: Necromancers are fine… it’s the PvE that is broken.

I usually agree with you, but for this, I do not.

It’s not the PVE mechanics that are bad, it’s the imbalance of warriors and guardians innate defense vs other classes.

They wear heavy armor, and they have some of the best group support. Guardians have the BEST group support, and can be very defensive without sacraficing a ton of damage. Warriors on the other hand, add alot of group support, shouts, banners etc; while wearing heavy armor getting that innate defense AND their damage scales off the charts compared to other classes.

Currently, there is no middle ground for plate wearers. No risk vs reward. If you want to do dmg, you should be squishy. If you want to be survivable you should do low dmg. That was their intended goal, but they don’t seem to have the right balance with warrior or guardian.

Here is how it should break down as far as damage goes

High dmg <————————————>Low dmg
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
High risk(squishy) <———————————-> Low risk(tanky)

The more squishy you become the more dmg you deal. Currently warriors don’t make a big enough sacrafice for the damage they do. Mostly because hundred blades and Axe auto attack scales too well with their traits and attack power.

This game doesn’t need any more legendaries right now. What it needs is new weapon choice as like we were promised, more lands unlocked like ring of fire and crystal desert. More balancing and a different dev in charge of class changes. Not being 100% focus on pvp. More in game rewards and skins to work to instead of just buying it from the gem store. More boss battles like teq , BUT these bosses need to be in an instance so real organization can happen with guilds and teams and make the rewards not solely based on RNG like always….

There’s more of course but I need not carry on further ATM.

The WP being taken out after the spiders is a really really bad idea with the current state of the spider /abom stone at the end.

If you have a handful of spiders beating on the stone, it is impossible for some classes to make it through without invuln. The spiders hit you instead of the stone. Try it out devs, gather half the spiders to the stone, then try getting past.

Please fix this, some of my party couldnt make it through no matter what they did without respeccing to have some sort of invuln or trick.

I made it through as a necro with fleshwurm port and double dodge.. but that was just silly.

New Life Siphon & Definition of "improvement"

Attritional is a thing that’s never going o happen and should be shelved.

If you think of DS as extra HP, then the necro seemingly has great attrition. Dagger, axe, fill DS fast.

But, Death shoud is not extra HP. Death shroud has to be activated, and, needs a ton of traits to be somewhat useful. If you don’t take these traits, you are locked out of your skills and are very subpar. You cant heal in death shroud. Plus Death shroud does not refill for free out of combat like hit points do, the only thing that refills it is risking your actual hit points in combat. Death shroud has a cooldown timer and lcks you out of your heal and utilities when it ends.

Finally, HP as a resource does nothing against stuns, immobilizes, other CC, or ficus fire and you can be one shot even while you are in tanks gear with full death shroud.

Pretty much this. Anet needs to start listening to the people actually playing the class.

According to the live streams, the devs only seem to be playing warriors/guardians and mesmers.

I’d like a race change aswell. While I understand why A-Net isn’t giving us the option, it would be quite handy. I’m not sattisfied with my Guardian’s race ( lvl 80 ) and I’d love to race change it.

Other than that I would love more weapon/armor skins in the store. Armor/weapon skins, who don’t dissapear after 2-3 weeks in the store. Some people have to save for certain items, so it’s a shame that when you finally have enough gold the skin you want is already gone from the store.

You are missing the point in the gemstore. It’s for anet to make money, thats why they release time-expiring items, so that their hard work and money, makes them money.

If people always trade gold for gems, they dont make money, which means they dont make items as good/often in the gemstore.

You may have picked a bad time lol

You could say he picked the worst time. Necros are the lowest dmg in the game in PVE (which steers people away). They keep nerfing condi builds in sPVP and buffing other classes, its bound to have an exodus.

Note: this isn’t a problem for everyone.

This has become an increasing trend in gw2, where you have mats that you cant even use, sell, or burn at a vendor to clear up space. Please add a sink (like a karma sink (orrian jewel boxes)) for these mats.

Screenshot is an example.. and some people have more than I do… mind you, i’ve made 6 ascended weapons already, and have the rest already refined ready for my armors.

The unintended change has been reverted as of today’s hotfix. You can see it reflected in the patch notes here.

What about us Charrs that dislike the original look. In dec 10th’s patch you FIXED horns being hidden, and the cloth on the back not sticking out (it looked more appropriate) and now charrs are back to having spent 500 gems on an item which looked decent after the fix, and horrible on them after you changed it back to what it was pre-dec 10th.

Do we get fixed? Or is this another “Charrs arent high enough player base, so tough kitten”

As of dec 10th patch, you updated and fixed the grenth hood on Charr’s, which allowed their horns to stick through, and the back of the hood not to stick out like over-starched cloth. Since today, you reverted these fixes.

See now this is exactly the mindset that is wrong with the game. The traits aren’t broken, or weak, they just don’t work for the way you are trying to use them.

Siphons don’t scale based on healing power. You should know this, the moment you put on healing power gear, and noticed the tooltip didn’t change.

Siphons are best used with abilities that hit fast, not hard (think wh 5, wells, dagger mh, axe mh #2, etc)

I run a siphon build, and I have been very happy with it.

You DO know that they DO scale with Healing Power right? Just, they scale VERY poorly. The traits are VERY poor. Considering that we pretty much have no defense, no escape DeathShroud is nothing more than an Invul for a few seconds in which you get locked out of heals and skills.

Access to ONE protection. Its like we are FORCED into condition builds and even they are becoming weaker as the Meta moves away from conditions. Power builds arent as strong thanks to lack of defense, lack of chase down and lack of escape should it all go wrong.

While leveling it is decent, Nothing more. Works okay with Locust Swarm and thats about it. It is still very meh

Listen, if you cant find a way to play the necro and use it’s strengths and weaknesses to get the upper hand, go play a guardian and pick up that new meditation heal, instead of not understanding how things work, and then complaining about it.

If the new healing skill has no ICD on its active then combining that with dagger #2 will be really cool.

They already announced (and demonstrated in the dev livestream) that both the passive and active have ICD’s.

According to the livestream, and it’s tooltip, the active buff has 25 stacks.

Yup. 25 stacks, and a 1 second ICD per attacker as well. Given the aftercast on the signet, you yourself can only consume for 4 stacks unless you already popped Locust Swarm (since that hits once/second) or they’re standing an a well (again, precast).

Which is a good thing it has an ICD… It would be very OP if it did not.

with nearly 400 Healing Power and the +20% Siphon trait attacking gives me a MASSIVE…41 health. Until they fix them and give them the buff they NEED a Vampire/Leech spec just isnt viable, at least for WvW

Simply – Its pathetic. Even with over 1,000 Healing Power i was getting like 40-50 heals from the Siphon traits. I would say dont bother with it.

Not that it really matters anyway—the dev’s found that they wanted to add a new heal for Necro’s that completely counteracts our entire class mechanic.

Technically, all heals go against our class mechanic, so…

No because your utility slots are “locked off”, all signets go against our class mechanic.

Did.. you just say that, specifically, signets, are against our class mechanic because they arent available in deathshroud?

Please do us a favor, boot up Gw2, hit deathshroud, and tell me what non-signets, elites, or heals are available while in deathshroud…

Just because some of you wont be able to utilize this skill because of your specific spec, doesnt mean that there are others that won’t use it. Big picture guys, big picture.

I never liked hybrid builds, it feels too weak compared to going balls to the wall 1 way or the other.

BUT. If you insist. Go scepter/dagger and staff. Scepter #3 actually does hit quite hard with lots of condi.
