Southsun was rushed and never really connected to anything.
The revisit we had was rushed and hardly connected it to anything.

Let the zone rest in peace, it never really had a place in the game anyway…

All this stuff in the inventory is there for a reason, this is the prize to pay for GW2 being B2P.

They actually want you to have tons of stuff in your inventory, so you feel the pressure to buy more bag space.

So 1., 2. and 3. won’t happen.

4. Would be nice, but would also just shorten the very little content we get anyways. So not really something ANet would want to offer.

5. Meh, the game has more pressuring things to get adjusted.

I’ve thought, for a long time now, that they’re working on an expansion. Which would explain why so little new areas are being added to the game, or how slowly they’re being added.

It’s very easy to make assumptions…but that’s all they really are.

I think that is too much faith in a company that doesn’t give a kitten about its players anymore.

They abandoned GW1 what is stopping them from doing it to 2, it already feels like they have to me. I hope you are right and they are working on an xpac but I HIGHLY doubt it.

I took ANet much less time to put out triple the content in GW1.

You put too little faith in a company that you think can produce miracles over night. This is a whole different ball game for a lot of reasons, but some people don’t want to accept it.

Guild Wars 1 was NOT an MMO and not being an MMO it had different sensibilities. For one thing, the playerbase was less divided than the Guild Wars 2 playerbase. Which means changes that you like other people might hate.

It’s not just about coming out with content. That’s the misnomer. Anet doesn’t come out with content because they don’t care.

Sorry Anet is coming out with content I’m enjoying. They’re not coming out with content you want. Everything is much easier when you’re not the one doing it.

Then ANet had a terrible business plan.

Here I was, a customer of ANet, willing to spend my money on solid content (aka expansions/DLCs/call it what you want), already on the ship, no need to convince me to buy the game.
Like so many others I have met on the journey. We were ready to throw our money in their pockets.
But all we got was the feeling, that the game was released early, and ANet spent the last two years to change the game into whatever it is now. And still – no real content on the horizon.

Meanwhile, I have spent my money on another game, even willing to pay a monthly fee to get the entertainment ANet missed to deliver. Even though I loved GW2 at release and was sure I would play it way longer.

Why would any company think this behaviour is a good idea. Why are they so eager to recruit new players, when the game is more or less old news and an actual expansion would probably lure more new people to the game than the failure of a LS is right now? What is the point?

I would fire the whole marketing department if it was my company. It is not, so I just spend my money somewhere else.

GW2 is going to be the new standard in the mmorpg genre imo.

lol what standard?

Cash shop.

This isn’t AA. Its better then WoW. Buy once and everything else is included. Expanding map/high pace ( good ) combat. Stop Q.Q and appreciate what you have. How many hr have you played? How much did it cost you? The cash shop thing is getting old and its just misinformation. You want something from BL? Ok farm a bit….. IRL OR the game GW2 lets you choose.

You got me wrong, I meant it in a positiv way.

There is nothing on the cash shop that you really need, still all content is available on the cashshop (exception might be LS, that is sort of a content rip off).

The problem might be, that there is not much outside the cash shop either, but that’s a different story.

I am perfectly OK with the cash shop and its setup, my problem is with how stale the game is after two years…

The best that arenanet can do is a new mini-map each 6 months, it means a new normal map each 2 years.

But we don’t know that’s the best the can do. It may not have been a priority prior to April 15th because they said they didn’t want to introduce new maps without the megaserver in place.

Which means you don’t possibly know how many maps a year than can produce.

True, we can only speculate with what we got till now.

Doesn’t look too promising though, don’t you think?

One would of course question why people that quite clearly don’t like the game still hang around on these forums everyday instead of just moving on.

I actually enjoy the GW2 forums. They are moving slowly and with enough popcorn around, you can have a few minutes of fun entertainment if you want. Most other forums are just boring.

On topic:

Step 1: Most promising MMO in nearly a decade at release.
Step 2: November 2012 update + all stuff after that
Step 3: Game is now more or less a copy of most other generic asian grinder MMOs out there. Nothing to see here, time to move on.

Lol, Kaiyanwayn. I’m afraid you’re going to get reported for this comment soon by some white knight.:P

Vayne, I think you and your guild are some kind of “special type” of people. Whenever there are some changes that are almost unanimously disliked by the community, both here and at reddit, and you can read them all over the chat in GW2, you fellas seem to love those changes. You guys are some merry men, that’s nice to see here!:D
Well, you are allowed to, ofc, but it smells rather… weird.

Yeah, I fully expected my punishment. I can handle some extra credit on my account, I have been nice for monthes now.

Those changes are just unnecessary. Even if they were good, which they are not, noone would need them in a two years old game. Maybe if they had a new expansion release, then we could live with it.

But for now, they waste the little ressources ANet seems to have for useless stuff. This game needs to go places after two years, like Cantha or so. But instead they reinvent the leveling wheel – what is this, an alpha version?

And I am surprised that not more people at ANet question those decisions.
Like people who actually work on the game must go like:
“Kitten, I won’t program this bullkitten in our beautiful game. This ruins everything!”, every singe feature patch.

Who makes those decisions? Noone playing the game would think they are a good idea anyway.

This is what puzzles me…

Content Please

This is the reason why I don’t play much anymore except for popping into WvW from time to time into a random zerg. There’s just nothing new coming into the game. I remember back then Runescape use to have a non stop flow of fun new permanent additions to the core game and they made less money than Anet.
Well Archeage releases today in a few hours and the developers have already revealed a ton of new permanent content coming later this year.

Don’t know what happened to Anet GW1 had awesome new content updates. Must have something to do with the secret Nexon take over of NCSoft.

It’ll be interesting to see how many players Archage has two years from now and what kind of complaints they have. I’ll tell you one thing. The launch, the headstart thus far is less than stellar. I have a suspicion that Archage isn’t the panacea that some think it’s going to be.

In two years it will have twice the new content that this game could produce in four years.

LMAO! We’ll see.

Here you go. Game not even released yet and already developing more permanent content than gw2 has gotten in two years.

http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/572/feature/8795

Doesn’t the first paragraph in that article state ‘when or if’ said content ever makes it to the Western version? I’m confused when you say the game hasn’t even launched yet, but the article talks about the Korean version of the game. Maybe I just don’t understand Korean MMOs and their Western counterparts. =/

Game releases in Korea. After that it gets regular updates in Korea.

Meanwhile in the West: Game gets prepared for launch (a kittenload of work).

At release in the West, the Korean version has been updated with content patches. Some early updates might make it in the release (I think AA starts with version 1.2 in the western world) others have still to be prepared for launch (like you know, most people just don’t speak Korean outside of Korea).

So people know what content already exists and can be certain, that this content will be released – in time.

ANet releases GW2 in China. The game is more or less the same old same since launch. China release version is pretty much the same as the Western one.
Yeah, GW2 is pretty stale…

Metrics:

If you are out of ideas, go with math, because you know, math is always right.
It won’t work, but at least you have an excuse for whatever bullkitten you are doing.

Face it, GW2 attracts tons of people who actually don’t like the genre. My wife bought it and she managed to play to level 10 till she quit the first time. Half a year later, together with me, she made it to 50 on the second try before she got bored to death.
She just doesn’t like GW2 that much. Do I think she would have liked it any more with the changes from the two feature patches? Kitten no. She would have never returned with even more restrictions.

This will pretty much end like in SWG:

People who do not like the core of the game will still stop playing.
People who liked the game the way it was before will stop playing.
People who are fanbois will defend all changes until the game is dead.

GW2 at release: Do what you want, have fun.

GW2 after two Feature Patches: Do what we want you to do, have fun later (after the first Feature Patch), much later (after the second Feature Patch).

These feature patches are an insult to any player that has been around for longer.
Some people might like it, but some people like all and everything anyways related to GW2. Or they just try to justify the changes so they can still like the game. Many people do so in all kind of situations.

But from what I have seen in GW2, there is a fair decrease of those kind of members of the community.

People complain about not enough dungeons. they added a path to atherblade path

They also removed a path. 33 + 1 – 1 is still 33.

They removed an underused path that most people never played. Shrugs.

The new dungeon is longer and more challenging. Just the kind of thing the hard core dungeon crowd was asking for. It’s a bigger and longer dungeon than the one they removed. It’s probably closer to two dungeons anyway, so if they removed 1 and put in one that’s twice as hard, long and big…well you still have more dungeon in the game.

How do we know most people didn’t use it. Well aside from the fact that Anet said so, when we ran TA in my guild, it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to do the F/U path, so we just didn’t do it.

They removed an underused path and replaced it with a path that noone runs.

ANet has learnt their lesson, that’s why we do not see any new dungeons around. They simply fail at creating challenging and at the same time rewarding and fun dungeons.

It could be complete dross, it could be great or it could be the beginning of the run up to a new race/class I fully expect to be released at some point (whether by expansion, update or gems), none of you know. The melodrama here is something to behold.

It is just the next episode of the Living Story, therefore people just expect to get a LS update.

So let me get this straight, until November the year 2014 has been:

- 8 LS story updates (you know, those mini updates, that are entertaining for maybe a day if you are a die hard fan (unless they are bugged for a week, then you need longer to see the content (like with Scarlett and co)))
- 2 balancing patches with some QoL changes (for whatever called “Feature Patches”), which break more than they fix
- some recycled old content

This is so sad, that it is funny again. ANet is trolling their players – hard.

Mesmer Poll: Scepter Auto-Attack Torment

in Mesmer

Here we go: Yes

Do I think it is a good or a bad move? I do not care or know. It won’t have any influx in PvE anyways.

But, it is a buff for the mesmer class, and if this class needs one thing after the constant torment of nerfing over the last two years it is some love (read buffs).

Buff mesmers – this is a buff, so it got my two thumbs up.

No deda, you missed the point.

In a condition heavy meta, mesmers have to play a glass cannon shatter build to be competative.

ANet tries to push the mesmer a bit towards the meta, so they can start playing with the big guys and on the forums, hell breaks loose.

So ANet tries to push an underused weapon and an underused specc for an underused profession. For every person with at least half a brain, this change sounds reasonable.

I will test this after the patch and tell you how it works:)
It was something made in 10 min, trying to prove that you can make a build which will throw at you all conditions in a mater of 5-7 sec, with very high base condition stat, and promotes self punishing play stile(move and get damaged ,use skill and wil get dmg)…
as for the utilities i didn’t even bother to think wht to put after signet of domination for adding condi dmg ,but yeah ill give it some thought and come with even higher condi stat than this…
And was a response on why condi ele hasnt existed…
So that was a point in this build, have a high condi dmg with a tons of conditions you can actually apply on your opponent….

This build still has no point.

It is like giving a guy a bunch of toy models of expensive cars and saying he is an owner of a lot of great cars.
Or giving a person tons of toy animals and claiming this person owns a zoo.

Your build and your argument are 100% invalid.

“Pretty much also the reason condi ele hasn’t existed, because when condi application is cooldown based it can’t possibly keep up with the current state of cleanses and burst.”

Condi ele didnt exist cause Ele can apply 2 (two) damaging conditions burn and bleed and thats it,your reasoning fails here…

But you did pretty much hit the nail with that remark, scepter/torch will now be able to apply all conditions and in pretty high stacks with just one weapon set with right sigils,
and if u add retaliation which mesmers don’t have to look far to get even boons are working for condi memser just blocking and auto attacking, lol

here it took me 10 min to make this ,it will punish you for anything you do while i can apply ALL condition on you in few sec:)

These changes won’t make the mesmer class any more enjoyable in PvE.
Build variety is still non-existant.
Leveling and open worldl will still be a chore compared to other classes, tagging is nearly as bad as before.
No swiftness buff.

The changes are neutral in matters of PvE. That’s why I won’t come back to GW2.

Which could probably seen as bad, if ANet wants people to play their game.

So all together, the changes are not enough and therefore bad.

ANet realized that by “fixing” iLeap, they broke it beyond usefulness.

ANet can’t fix the broken AI, going back to the old iLeap would be a bandaid.

ANet does the only thing that will make iLeap work (which I posted monthes ago), the skill will finally work as intended.

People should just get over the fact, that a profession using a melee weapon gets a working gap closer. They act like iLeap is something totally new and mindblowing overpowered.

Which it is not. If I just got one copper for every tear shared of some random pvpers over mesmer changes, I would be the richest player in the game.

“Mesmers get a broken skill fixed, burn down ANet!”

I say, if ANet ever manages to fix the illusions AI, we can change the skill back to how it is now. Until then we keep the new iLeap.

Which means forever btw.

the teleporting to the target fixes the issue with ileap reliability. however iswap is still useless because the clone can be killed by a single auto attack.
IF the ileap clone was given 4 sec of immunity to damage or a much much higher hp pool. the skill would be perfect.

How about, the mesmer is ported to the target and a clone is created at his former position, pretty much the other way around.
You can port to the clone’s position if you want, but in the end, the gap closer would close the gap in the first place.
Of course the clone is a melee clone going straight for the target, which would offer some nice in and out and back in gameplay for the mesmer, but wow, we do not want to ask for too much mental creativity at ANet.

One of the main goals with splitting the balance discussions up into segments was to allow us to survey the feedback on each individual change more effectively. It’s a lot easier for us to sift through two professions worth of feedback every two weeks than it is to sort through all eight at once. We’re happy with most of the changes, but they’re by no means final, and like every other balance update we’re open to being swayed.

See: Deceptive Evasion

How are four days enough, two of them being weekend, to add any changes.

The whole reason for the streching of your skill bars was to get enough feedback for every profession. How can the changes presented two workdays before patch release not be final though?

Please consider to release the last skill bar a week early, so that there is at least the illusion that any change could ever happen.

However it is still the most unique and enjoyable class in GW2, been a pleasure to play despite all the bugs and nerfs, and if I was given the choice of going back 2 years and starting over I would do exactly the same thing, no regrets.

Hopefully Anet realises the beauty of the mesmer class they have created, and how unique it has the potential to be – for any kind of class in any kind of rpg or mmo – and that they manage to bring it into a good position in the future.

Yeah, I moved on to a sub based MMO. Finally letting this case rest.
It is not the game itself, it is the developer. Noone wants to wait two years for simple bug fixes ever. Or some quality content. Or at least something new and exciting to toy around with.

How much active time played has each profession?
In what type is the respective profession played how frequently?
What are the most commonly used traits, utility and weapons in the different game modes?
What are the least frequently used traits, utility and weapons in all game modes?

And than they should take the last question for the least played profession in its least played game mode and start fixing this. After that they can balance the more frequently used stuff.

Rinse repeat, welcome to the never ending cycle of balancing in an MMO.

The combo system is well done? The failure that is the combo system is the reason for melee stacking.
The combo system is the reason everything feels the same, because it is all you got to understand and then bunch up and burn down whatever gets close (or stuck in a corner).

[Mezmer] Passive damage needs a tone down

I feel like OP wants targets to stand still so they can lay down the damage warriors can do. Burning cooldowns on sustain and defense is totally uncool mesmers. Stop it.

Actually yes, mezmers have to many stunt breaks, evade attacks (sword), stealth, passive conditions, and passive damage.
Also, Killing their clones should not apply 3 conditions that is stupid.
Isn’t deception enough? I mean you go and kill a stupid clone thinking it is the Mezmer and you get 3 conditions, really? Isn’t deception enough?

Not only did you got deceived, but you also got 3 conditions + damage from other clones/phantasms + damage from the real Mezmer. The mezmer goes on stealth and you continue to get passive damage from their clones/phantasms really? This kitten is getting old!

OK people, time to move on. Nothing to see here. It is a simple L2P issue. Case closed.

ANet balancing meeting:

DEV1: “Dear lord, look at the mesmer profession, it’s as messy as a port-a-potty at a truckers convention. What the hell should we do?”

DEV2: “Buff warriors I say!”

DEV3: “Yeah buff them warriors.”

DEV1: “Ok, so we buff warriors, problem solved. Let’s move on to the next topic.”

This game was released without any AI and ANet missed to fix it.

Seriously, if you think that anything has to do anything with aggro besides being in range of the mob, you are giving ANet too much credit for their mob design.

Trait setup is pretty much similar to standard tPvP. Therefore the build has a major flaw, and that is: It is too fragile without heavy team support.

So probably not the way to go for sPvP and pretty much the same as every other mesmer in tPvP.

Every change to warriors is big, as it is the most played class. Nerfs that are not known before will cause too much whine for ANet to handle in regards of warriors.

Anyone who expects more than is seen here is just fooling him/herself.
