i did .. i purchased long ago 4000 Gem. the value was 4000 = 46 Gold. Then i waited and watched … the market spike up and down … i waited until yesterday before the patch . There is always a high spike before an update or a major update … so i traded in yesterday .. the rate was 4000 Gem = 60 Gold … that +14 gold over
One of my friends noticed that it is usually the middle of the week when the gem to gold would be at it’s highest but I am working out of town during the weekdays so I can’t do that. Has to be Friday night to Sunday night for me.
yes there is a cycle … the middle week is in fact Thursday …. it’s payday for a lot of peoples best time Thursdays to check is 6AM – 12PM and 6PM
If we could purchase gems from the guild wars website then I would do it right now! lol.
Buy gem cards if they are available in your area. no ?
They are but I never used it before. Do you have to go in-game to activate them?
yes ,
redeeming gem card serial codes in the Gem Store:
Log in to Guild Wars 2.
Open the Black Lion Trading Company panel. (The default hot key is “O,” or you may select the lion icon in the upper left of the game screen.)
Select the “Redeem Code” button at the upper left of the Gem Store panel.
Follow the on-screen instructions to redeem your serial code for gems.
Gems are delivered automatically when the code is redeemed.Just as i told you … each Thursday … did you see it today ? 100 Gem was at 1.66 Gold at 11:15 AM … Thursday=payday=spike gem value …… buy low … sell high.
Thanks for the help but no I did not see it today. Is it on Gw2Spidy? I don’t have access to the game at work since I am mostly busy with fixing bugs for our game and I usually get out at around 9-10pm.
I rarely use TP so it does not really affect me. I just sell whatever I find, and if I can’t sell them then I just throw it into the forge or sell it to the vendors. Only times I do buy is when I am trying to craft certain items.
Allow you to use two classes at the same time once you have reached lvl 80. But I will be sure to work on re-balancing the game since there will obviously be some over-powered builds that people will make.
Hello fellow GW2 Players. I just want to know if any of you guys actually play the game with dual screen monitors? If so then what do you usually have on your second monitor? I recently got my second monitor and I want to try to use it for something useful while playing GW2.
That would be interesting….dye the backpack to be red/black. That will look pretty awesome.
I don’t use it but instead I use Infiltrator’s signet because I like having a skill that can shadowstep to the enemy, break myself out of stun if I need to, and increases my initiative by 1 every 10 seconds. I mostly use it for the shadow step though.
I really like this idea of the spiritualist, and grats on tying it with the ritualist from guild wars 1. /Support.
1. Tengu
2. Quaggan
3. Skritt
They all seem pretty cool to play as. Could be a Tengu Warrior, or a Quaggan Elementalist, or a Skritt Thief, etc…
Nah it’s flat like the Minecraft world. Yes they have seasons and they circle around the sun but really they are flat :P
When the world was changing the tectonic plates underneath was moving and they all crashed into each other, which created that “square” spiky hills you see.
I actually enjoyed doing this during launch. Having you and 30 other people fighting the blood witch and being surrounded by smaller mobs made it a worthwhile fight. I didn’t really care that we didn’t get a reward, I was just glad that I had a fun time doing it with a lot of people.
I don’t use S/D in PvE, there is just something about the weapon skills that I do not like. I like to use D/D instead with P/P as my long range backup, they fit my play style more.
If you need town clothing to talk and interact with others on the internet, there might be something seriously wrong with you.
I suppose that people fighting in town clothes would be to ‘realistic’ for some countries and get the game banned.
I liked the idea of having different town clothes to outfit our toons with until I learned of this restriction. I kinda wonder why bother with having ‘town clothes’ at all if there is no use for it.
They are just for aesthetic purposes. It help with socializing with other players and possibly do some role-playing. Just like saying what is the point of having custom weapon skins if there is no use for it.
I never said we needed it, just saying that it is just a little aesthetic feature that they wanted to add.

I remember Allods…anyways even though they do have npc’s that follow you in the dungeons it would be nice to have temporary npc’s that would fill up the gap when you want to try it by yourself or it is taking too long to find another person. I would support it but I do not think they will want to add it because this game is meant to have teamwork and socialization with other fellow players.
I was curious, am I the only one who thinks its absurd that ‘Steal’ doesn’t put you behind your target? Not only is it illogical, but more often than not, its instant death in dungeons and fractals.
Well if it is steal as in pickpocketing your enemy without them knowing then yeah it is absurd. But if it is steal as in taking the item in front of them then using it against them (ex: having an argument with a friend, take the beer from their hand, then hit them in the head) then the current situation seems reasonable. They just need to clarify on what kind of steal it is.

I support the out of combat weapon swapping for engineers. I loved playing as an engineer in the Guild Wars 2 beta but what I did not like was the fact that you could not switch your weapons because of the kits. Since then I chose to start out as a thief, but I might play as an engineer later on.
I miss those aspects from Guild Wars 1 also. I am okay with the way Guild Wars 2 is though. Hopefully they would add more skills or allow us to have npc heroes again.
I think that would be a pretty good idea, knowing how long you will approximately have to wait. Imo I wouldn’t want to wait if I was like #100 in the queue and it moves very slowly.
It all depends on the majority of the players and anet’s decision on accepting the suggestion. Imo I am okay either way of fighting with armor or fighting with town clothes.
If we were allowed to have 2 classes at the same time then this could be easily done. Otherwise I don’t support it.
He is just talking about the basic concept of adjusting TP to allow the viewing of the items based on stat filters.
I’m thinking that they will probably add more skills to the weapons like how our other skills are. If they do this then it would be a lot like GW1 which is what I loved about the game. They will have to work on the balance thoroughly so there will be less problems than what will occur later on.

I believe an online armory would be very helpful because then I would be able to do some planning ahead for my character while I am away from my game (ex: at work and I am on my break). I would like to see my character’s:
1. Equipment and their stats
2. Skills and traits with stats on each of them.
3. Crafting level and available crafting recipes.
I would be okay with them just having an account armory where you can only view your character’s armory.

It would be nice to gift gems to another player. But then that might become a way of trading items to each other through mail (if people even still does that).
The broom is only their for cosmetic reasons. If you don’t like the look, then you don’t have to waste your money on it. But the parrot on the shoulder I would definitely want.
It is just for show, it has no real purpose to it except for acting like you are a witch and flying around on it.

That would be nice, but you should move this post to Suggestions. That is where it belongs.
making your own equipment at low levels is not optimal, actually I wouldn’t brother much with equipment until lvl 80, I just equiped myself with drops until that lvl (and I took the lvling easy)
Okay, I could probably do that, I’m only 20 lvls away from max anyways. It is kind of hard to play as a thief though when you want to be in the middle of the combat and not use stealth lol. I been trying to make my thief be like I was in Guild Wars 1 as an assassin/warrior.
afaik there is a one-time “crafting kit” you can get for the new laurel currency that you may want to have a look at before you spend money.
I might check that out then, I got like 50k karma from the little play time that I had.
If you want to make money, crafting is not a great way to do it.
What would be a better way? From playing WoW and Runescape I always thought crafting was the way to go since you could gather your materials (or try to buy them cheap) and then make something worth more.
Tip:
Don’t use gem to gold unless you are absolutely desperate for money. i.e. you’re only 50g away from a legendary
It’s very easy to make gold in Cursed Shore farming that you’ll quickly regret spending real $.
I’m pretty desperate at the moment because I want to get my crafting high enough to make my own equipment. I tried Cursed Shore when they first released it but then I had to go back to work.
Nice, I better by some gems this weekend then xD. I should of thought about doing that at launch because I did buy gems, but I was buying a little bit at a time to get those keys when I ran out of it.
I am also thinking about doing that, since I do love exploring lol. I believe I got 1-2 more lvl1-15 maps to explore.
I’m cool with them not showing the net profit after tax. Yeah it would be helpful but we are smart, we can do the math ourselves.
Hey Guys. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that buys gem with real money so they could convert them to gold? I am thinking about doing this when I have more time to play because since launch I have made a mistake of not gathering all the materials I can while exploring. Because of this I have a low level crafting in Huntsman (I am doing okay in Leatherworking) and I am a newb at making money because I did not really care about making money at the time. If I buy the gems with real money then convert them to gold then I would be able to buy the mats I need, level up my skills, and (properly) make money with them.
Hey, what do you guys recommend for a thief to have for crafting professions? At first I started as a leatherworker/huntsman so I could create my own armor and weapons. Later on though I decided that I wanted to start make money and I heard from other people that chef was the way to go so I switched huntsman for chef but it looks like I am spending more money than I am making.
Should I just go back to leatherworker/huntsman or what other professions should I try for making my own equipment and make a decent amount of money?
Sorry for bringing it back, just want an opinion on these traits that I decided to try out for my build idea:
30 Deadly Arts
- II Corrosive Traps so I can apply vulnerability on the enemies
- V Potent Poision for increasing poison duration from my Serpent’s Touch trait and Chocking Gas skill
- XI Panic Strike to keep the enemy from moving or dodging when they are at -50% hp
10 Acrobatics
-V Master Trapper for recharging traps faster
30 Trickery
-V Thrill of the crime for giving me and my allies fury, might, and swiftness for 10 secs when I steal
-VIII Bountiful Theft for giving me and my allies vigor and two boons when I steal
-XI Hastened Replenishment for giving me 4 initiative when I activate my healing spell
For equipment I’m going to be doing more research but I might want to do full Nightmare rune armor set. Not sure yet though.
Yeah I do switch my strategies up a bit during certain encounter, like when I’m facing an enemy that cannot be pulled by scorpion wire. I would instead shadow step to them then when I roll away i would steal to get close again. But I only switch out the weapons when I’m in a dungeon or in a major event with a champion, which I haven’t been doing lately because of low populated zones. First time playing when I got to use those skills I took down a huge group of centaurs and their Elite no problem, but Twilight Arbor dungeon…That was a real nightmare for me when I try using the D/D build.
I don’t want to be a thief that stays in stealth mode because we die easily. I want to be like I was in GW1: Jump into a group, do crazy combos and conditions that affects everyone quickly, watch everyone fall around me then move on. It kind of reminds me of Zen-Yi from the Man with the Iron Fists movie. I know it’s a cheesy movie but I just had to go see it yesterday at the dollar movies lol.

Hello fellow thieves. I’m finally returning back to playing Guild Wars 2 since my contract job is done for a while; I actually started playing since it first came out. On my thief I am lvl 58 fixing to get close to lvl 60 so I can reset my skills to obtain the highest trait rank. My build that I have so far is okay with PvE but sucks completely when it comes to dungeons. I was wondering if any of you guys could help me on building a decent build that both fits with my play style and would be very helpful. Here is what I have so far:
D/D Weapon sets
Signet of Malice healing skill (really thinking about switching it out).
Infiltrator’s Signet
Scorpion Wire
Roll for Initiative
Dagger Storm
Random Gears (will fix this when I know what build I want to run)
I use Dagger Storm when I’m surrounded by enemies or when I want to draw enemies to me
I then use Scorpion Wire on my specified target -> Spam Death Blossom until I run out of initiative-> Roll for Initiative -> Activate Infiltrator’s signet to shadow step -> spam Death Blossom -> Steal skill (hope that it turns me invisible so I can stab from behind or just use what I got) -> spam Death Blossom -> Activate Signet of Malice to heal if I need to -> do whatever I think is best.
What I want my playing style to be when I am in PvE (and maybe PvP) is high Direct Damage & Bleed conditions (as you noticed with the “spam death blossoms”) . I also want to effectively use my initiative (ex: have a lot of it and be able to regenerate it as quickly as I can). I want to try to stick with D/D as much as I can because I just love playing as a thief with two daggers, and I love the death blossom skill. It just reminds me of when I use to play GW1 alot as an assassin.
As far as dungeons go I know that this build will not be very effective so I was thinking I could try to make a shortbow build where I am using fast movements to avoid getting hit hard by the enemy while laying traps to help support my team. I might want to use skills such as these:
Tripwire
Needle Trap
Ambush Trap
or I may switch out one or two of those skills with:
Blinding Powder
Caltrops
For the elite skills I may use:
Thieves Guild
Mistfire Wolf (most likely not)
Hounds of Balthazars (or any other human specific elite skills)
Picking the right traits would especially be hard for me because I might accidentally pick something that could ruin my playing style completely. For gears I am not going to worry about it just yet, but any suggestion would help.
To me these skill builds sounds pretty solid for me but I would like to hear some advices from you guys that have been playing the class longer and knows what would be effective and what would not be.
Thanks in advance for any help that you can give me.
I used death blossom on a group of grawls but fell off the side of the cliff. Very good skill, not good to use on a narrow cliff…
Hey fellow guild wars players. I just thought about this randomly while trying to remember what I have my thief set to (I am at work at the moment so I can’t play the game to check lol). What I think would be a nice little feature for the website is an armory that you can check for your players when you are going through your account settings. That way if I want to show my friends what I have equipped for skills, traits, and equipment on my main character I would not have to go in the game to show them. The reason why I did not say “armory where you can inspect everyone’s armor” is because I know there are some people that does not want others to see what they have. This would just be for the player to check their own character’s armory in their account settings when they are browsing the web away from their computer.

I would like to have an in-game music player in general. Kind of like Cabal Online where you can listen to their music player or choose to listen to your list of songs and it would automatically get the songs from the location of your music (or where you choose).
This has been suggested many many times and they are planning on adding it later so we don’t have to worry about that for now.
/Signed that was a pretty cool feature in gw1.
This was suggested before but I support the server queuing idea greatly. Would of been helpful back when the game first came out. I had to spend hours literally just to switch world.
This has been suggested before but I support this idea.
I support this. One of the criteria could also be (least amount of deaths or least amount of teammates downed).
