For those who bought Glossy Black Dye in hopes of getting a cheaper alternative to Shadow Abyss you made a blooper there.
Unfortunately Glossy Black Dye is only darker than Black Dye, while regular Abyss Dye is still darker than it.
Glossy Black Dye hex code is #1e1c1f which is brighter than Abyss on all armour classes. Abyss Dye on light and medium armour is #1a181b on those, and #0f0f0f on heavy armour which is even darker.
So yes if you want an alternative to Shadow Abyss Dye which is greyish too, Abyss Dye is still the best. As other dyes are tinted, like Midnight Fire which may appear brownish on some armour piecess.
In other words it’s not worth 300g, as it only stands between Black Dye and Abyss Dye which cost a fraction of it together.

Shawdow Magenta/red isn’t bad on plate. Just a slight red hue, but still pretty black. Theres is a cheaper black dye for cloth and leather though. i’m not ingame so i can’t say what it is but its like silver in price.

if you really want shadow abyss just wait till your 4rth birthday and you get it for free!

Abyss dye show more variation/detail in your armor, it appears more grey (sorta)
Shawdow Abyss is total black out. No detail, almost looks like your 2D flat.

I remember when Abyss was as dark as Shadow Abyss. Then before shadow dyes were released they adjusted the overall color of the game. It looked like someone had gone into my options and messed with my display settings. There was a noticeable difference! and then Abyss became lighter/changed in appearance.

At the end, I would say, what kind of content will last forever? – Player generated content. Player will never get bored by the content they generated / changed. – Home instance in this case.

This is observably not true, as can be seen in games like WildStar which do feature a high degree of personal housing customization, and which have steadily lost players over time.

or have not even attracted people like myself because they love GW2 and want personal housing here.

And yes i was originally thinking Personal guild hall. But you don’t have access to things and upgrades for 1 person is crazy insane. plus goes the whole dump your tokens into your own hall and only you will see it. I want to show off my decorating skills to lots of people randomly. They shouldn’t have to be in a party with me to view my awesomeness.

I really like how it was done in Arch Age (minus the problem with open world housing-not enough room for everyone at start)
but i hate pvp and other things they did, (P2W) so really hate that game

Suggestion : Scribe in home instance.

So, I really like the idea of scribe in the guild hall, make you feel home. I think all kinds of customization are great additions to the game, and one of the things that attract new and existing players. e.g. customize how your character looks (armor, weapons), customize how your guild hall looks.

I always wanted to customize my home instance. I am always hoping that Anet will bring Scribe into home instance and let us build whatever we want there. buildings, decorations, trophy statues, plants etc. – At this moment, I am not really motivated to get all the nodes for just daily farming or bring friends/guildies to farm.

Technically: Scribe is already there in guild hall, it wont be difficult to bring it to home instance. – Tho Anet need to balance the impact to guild hall function, and the impact of uses about different mats/trophies.

Business side: I believe there will be a lot of people willing to spend gems / farm as hell to get our home instance looks incredible. – that might be where the next big revenue come from.

At the end, I would say, what kind of content will last forever? – Player generated content. Player will never get bored by the content they generated / changed. – Home instance in this case.

Just my ideas, thoughts? concerns?

like you said you don’t currently bring folks into your instance. Decorating home instance is nice, but if you can’t show it off who cares.

As a mainly solo player myself that’s kinda the point of decorating. Showing off what you can do, kind of like the legendaries you craft or the style of armor you get. It’s all about the vanity and customization. Great end came content though, i’ll give ya that!

I’d prefer personal housing of an instanced village like environment(At the very least). Multiple people can pass by randomly like normal ingame environment. Being able to see what others have done will inspire you to pimp out your house too. You can show off achievements and titles or things of that nature, Personal style, how rich you are.

If we are only allowed home instance decorating, then i would like some ability to get to home instance from guild hall. or allow other in your guild to vist your home instance while not in party, kind of like the fractal portal instance. You could scroll through a list of names to visit that persons home instance to see how they’ve decorated.

It just seems less of a point to decorate if you are the only one who is going to see how fabulous you are.

Anet can we have Easter or spring festival

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Like you said sab was in replacement for April fools it really isn’t an official spring festival. To have a a festival for each race would be nice I think. The norns does not have to be easter bit I thought it would be a fitting way to tie it into the norn culture.

Norns – some kind of drinking FESTIVAL-think oktoberfest. already have that mini pvp drinking game and the activity keg brawl. Could maybe spruce those up a bit during festival or added rewards? From a non-lore rp’er player like myself seems logical My main is norn – gotta get cha drink on!

Slyvari – relatively new to life, celebration of life maybe? (input lore here and stretch it a little)

Charr – something about flame legion(input lore here), (think Burning man celebration), summer/fall thing

People demanded the Super Adventure Box become a recurring event. Since it takes place every April Fool’s, it’s now our spring festival.

it’s funny i wonder how they figured “People demanded” what basis did they count the number of people? If from these forums I’ve heard the same amount of people complain about many things: mystic coins, how bad HoT was on release, yet i see nothing done bout that. I suppose positive feed back about how wonderful you are is looked at more seriously then negative feed back about how f’ed up it is.

Someone mentioned on another forum (I bet this isn’t accurate) that prolly if u like the game you aren’t on the forums complaining about it. If that’s so then a smaller group of people would of been on the forums in the first place, to dump love on SAB. So i mean saying “People demanded”… what people?which people? how many people?

What I Expect from the Next Xpac

Don’t speak for me. Heart of Thorns was everything I could ask for and more. I love it and it has a high replay value for me.

When did I say the Xpac was bad? Did you not read reviews? ratings? The massive disappointment in the forums throughout several months? Well I did. I really enjoy HOT, but bits and pieces throughout two years…..is not a complete Xpac. This isnt a hate thread, its quite the opposite. While some players may see it different than my post, the facts show that for the most part, this was never considered an “expansion”.

You’re listening to what is knows as the Negative Confirmation Bias
People who love the game are in it playing, people who hate it are outside the game complaining about it.
When you go to the forum you’ll only be confirming your negative bias

ergo, 5% hate HoT, 10% are indifferent, 85% love it
You know only the 5% of people, and now try to speak for the full 100%
that’s not gonna float our boats

lol, this isn’t true for the same reason you are complaining about it. just because you’re not on the forums doesn’t mean you should assume people love it. I didntr know bout forums for years and still hardly use reddit. where a lot more info about this game and what people think seems to be.

Lunar New Year Scribe decorations

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kelly.7019

Kelly.7019

I see what you’re saying but, it’s just badly worded and incorrect. Clearly copied and pasted from last years game update notes. There is only 1 additional decoration (the rooster statue) for the 2017 Lunar New Year Festival. In 2017 there are 7 decorations that can be crafted from red lanterns : (Rooster statue, Monkey statue, Ram statue, Firecracker, Lunar Arch, Red Festival Umbrella, Red Festival Tent). Though these (minus the rooster statue) were already present last year and wouldn’t be seen as additional this year.
Even if you phrase it “Red Lanterns can be used by scribes to craft six additional festive decorations” and count statutes all as 1 thing(see edit 4 below), then there are only 5 decorations in addition to the red lantern.

See how this is confusing, incorrect and easily misleading?

Definition of “Additional" – added, extra, or supplementary to what is already present or available.

Not much point in brainstorming they won’t add any obvious holiday decorations, just look what they did for Wintersday… blocks of ice… All those decorations they had in DR and pvp/wvw areas:https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/2017-Wintersday-Scribe-Decs-community-wants/first#post6457135 for the Wintersday build were already in game and so pretty, but nopes, didn’t happen. And now its even worse because only 1 thing was added, really? So Sad!!! I mean what happened since you designed the halloween decorations that you don’t have the resources to add new decorations? Pretty sure you guys were already working on next xpac and still were able to add halloween and wintersday ones.

edit 2: edit 1 got deleted with the entire post, whoops
Okay at first glance there might not seem like much in the way of decorations but there are several obvious choices below.

1st pic below:

  • the strings of lights(horizontal across a flat wall, or lets say the vertical way running front to back)
  • the big or small rooster/ram/monkey banners/flags(imagine if they could also become rugs!)
  • the tall skinny lantern lights (its actually a cool looking light fixture and tall lanterns, 2 things not 1)
    Pic 2
  • The huge archway- nice possible 100 lantern Guildhall decoration
    Pic 3
  • the smaller scale version (50 lanterns) of the pic above.
    Pic 4
  • or even a wall section of those wooden suns on the archway.

or maybe instead of blocks of ice like with Wintersday, we could of got some wooden bridges in this same design style. idk. i was looking forward to any new weird decorations that don’t match at all.

edit 3: i guess i was expecting “new weird” things because we got “additional” new things(Demon Statue, Eternal Flame, Hanging Tree, Mad Moon, Mausoleum)(pretty cool btw) for Halloween, “Additional” new things(blocks of ice)(kinda “What the…” for people, but at least we got multiple stuff, YAY!!!)(and look what they did here with them, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/creations/Last-Call-Wintersday-Art/first#post6441116 just awesome!) for Wintersday. So one would just naturally expect multiple “additional” new things for Lunar New Year and all we got was the annual Statue. At this rate i expect zipp-a-dee-doo-da nothing for SAB (if it even comes out this year) even though there are things that could be added.

edit 4: i see what anet is doing, they are counting statue as just 1 thing even though now there are 3 statues )

edit 5: if i’m salty it’s because i’m obviously disappointed. (see edit 3)

ah well apparently there is nothing new other then the “rooster statue” as the game update notes as far as scribbing goes is worded the exact same as 2016 & 2017.

Super sad.
Just another copy n paste patch.

imo saying “six additional” after you already have decorations added from the year before, permanently added, is quite misleading. plus not exactly correct as there is 1 new decoration this year

or did you guys just forget to load the scribe decs into the patch? and a build is coming shortly?

i don’t know did they wait too long before they decided to start working on another xpack and then rushed HoT out the door? You kinda get what you deserve then i guess. I would think you’d want to take time to perfect another expansion and not just push it out as fast as possible. They shoulda planned for another xpansion before the release of the base game, and if GW2 base went well, then jump into next xpac. build apon what you have. Reinvest the money into the company. grow it bigger. Make a better product then before. I don’t think it happened that way.

How's Guild Wars doing after colin leaving?

Pretty good, but it’s being developed quite differently from the past.

Smaller but more frequent PvE updates, with an expansion in the works, more focus on WvW and PvP / Esports.

I would say the opposite, less often updates then before. I miss the every 2weeks new content. If collin was a major reason why the base game was so amazing, i’d say it’s a shame he left. I don’t like the direction HoT went overall. I don’t know when they started working on HoT probably b4 gw2 was released? but if that’s not true.. I kinda wish they woulda focused a little more on HoT b4 jumping back on the money train known as another Xpac.

base game- casual fun, HoT – uber grind. I left WoW because of the uber grind.
Of course maybe when things are new, you don’t see it as a grind, but after 4 years and they increase the grind elements even more, it kind of gets boring quick.

Even though i still play every day, it’s gone from playing for a couple hours to just logging in to do dailies and logging out.

plus in beginning it was like yay no sub extra money to waste on gemstore. Now its like meh…why bother, they aint getting my money or ingame gold.

Abilities
Gw2 fell very short here. Weapons determine your skills which was always a nightmare, you couldn’t select what you wanted. Every guardian with a greatsword is using the exact same five skills. In eso each class has there own lines you can pick from, then level each skill, then actually morph them and pick options what else you may want it to do.

these might be something GW3 takes into consideration.
I’d also like to see GW3 redesign there engine.
and become more immersive then they are now.
But i’m sure I won’t be playing gw3, i’ll have quit gw2 long b4 that ever happens.

The game is in desperate need of new fun content besides LW and add-ons. I assume ArenaNet is majorly understaffed if they can’t even fix severe bugs in vital content right away nor provide some variety in the already existing annual festivities.

They could be working on next xpack. Though that would be sad to move people from HoT upkeep to solely new Xpack stuff. But that might be the greed train running strong on most mmos these days.

I know in the first 2 years i spent more then $15 a month in that thing. but yeah content aint what is used to be and there’s other games to play now so…

If lots of others are also like me, being understaffed might make sense. If gemstore is doing fine, then it doesn’t, really.

GW2 Holiday Events - Why only 3?

Why are there only 3 regular holiday events per year?

Halloween
Wintersday
Lunar New Year

I’m pretty sure GW1 had more then 3 holiday events, though i never played GW1 but found this link: https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Special_event

I’d prefer events that happened every year like Halloween, Wintersday and Lunar New Year. SAB happens sometimes, but its at different months of the year. Once during April(April fools one year i believe) and another was at the end of the summer. And
what happened to “Queens Jubliee” – i’d like to see that be made into some kind of annual holiday event. (though it would be another evil humans holiday in DR)

It would be nice if there was some kind of holiday event for all 5 races.

Lion’s Arch has the Halloween event.
No fair humans have Wintersday and Lunar’s New Year in DR (Evil humans!)
I guess Asura have Super Adventure Box in Rata Sum.

That leaves Norns, Sylvari and Charr all need some kind of holiday inspired event in their capital cities!

My first thought was some kind of beer/ drinking related Norn celebration think “Oktoberfest” but can’t be in October already have Halloween.
Sylvari feel very much like a spring /summer event.
Charr my guess would be late summer/early fall?

I would look at Lore and what GW1 did and any Global holidays that could be mashed up into something for everyone!

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Scribing upgrades

Keep in mind that we also have downsides due to the service such as that we can not store any basic holliday decorations since those can get used by guesting scribes and usually get crafted in the things that we do not want/need (pumpkins was a huge problem there as those got crafted by guests into “Thorny Jack-o’-Lantern” that we had no need for (we wanted to craft some of the lv 400 decorations but had to buy pumpkins again first due to this… and thats just 1 example….. so we have to take care and place all decorations we want to keep in the hall to prevent them from being used in crafting).

We offer the service just so others can safe a lot of gold leveling their scribes, not for us to make provit or get free stuff. But you are ofcourse not required to use the service, thats up to you.

Wow people who guest on your guild to level scribing and then steal all your supplies instead on being polite and buying it themselves? lots of JA players apparently, who only care about themselves if you ask me. I never did that i bought all basic decs i needed to make stuff. and then realized all those green balloons are now permabound in this other guilds storage. later realized how useless green balloons are, but they make good makers for things.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

There would still be limits on the max number of objects placed in a zone/room, but i’m talking more about rooms next to each other. I can see how “zones” wouldn’t work if you had to render everything on the map. But what if you didn’t have to?
You already can adjust the LOD (the distance at which rendered objects transition through varying levels of detail.) under options on your game, so there is already a defined max distance. Objects beyond a certain threshold from your character should not be rendered.
Zones/rooms might be more effective for building like structures that have walls/ceilings/floors. You then wouldn’t have to render objects in the room next door, above or below if they aren’t visible from the room you’re in. ( but yeah the engine might work differently then that.)

As for levels, there are already 6 levels from the sea floor to the [Arena Tower Waypoint](more levels might be below the water but serves no purpose really as you can’t place objects underwater), based on the art ingame(even though anet broke it into just 3. And there are still more levels beyond that up to the roof!
Even those 3 levels should be capable of their own max limit, since viewable distance has a defined limit. Plus if roof objects aren’t visible from the [Central Hollow Waypoint]/entrance waypoint, then the max object limit should be much higher as objects at a certain distance would not need to be rendered.

[It’s worth pointing out upfront I’m not a programmer, and have little xp with it. More on the side of webdesign then C++. My thoughts are brainstorming ideas for guild hall capacity, to try and think inside the box,, so to speak.]

Think of a cube: height, width, depth. Now think of five cubes stacked on each other. Take those five cubes and place them inside another big cube. That big cube is the guild hall. Those five cubes are the 5 different levels(height). Each level could have its own zone(width&depth)any size, which allows for X amount of objects placed in it.

If zone A on level 1 were below Zone A on level 2, objects placed in either zones would not interfere with each other in regards to “too many objects close together”. Different levels would have their own max amount of objects(pretend 1000 per level).

Guild halls are so big it’s odd they were designed/programmed the way they are.

If you can’t even see the third level from the entrance waypoint in gilded hollow why can’t the max # of objects be increased or even doubled again? The argument for peoples computers- what they can handle when close to other objects, doesn’t hold water when those objects are far away and on different levels.

It seems very much more a problem of not coding/programming for zones and levels like this and instead of 5 cubes inside on big cube(like it could be designed) it’s just one big cube.

*I’m pretty sure there are more then 5 levels currently in guild halls. Even though World maps suggests there are only 3 or 4

**zones and levels would not have invisble walls, or be defined by unpassable walls. You could move around freely through the area if the art allowed you to.

I found this on reddit:

I wonder if there is any such discussion or explanation in regards to how maps or guild halls are programmed? So I could understand better the reasons for the limitations.

This thread for gw2.com forums talks more about how game maps are square but not about how they are programmed or zoned for objects.

I’m a vet, been playing since December 2012. TC’s aren’t a problem. It’s kind of an end game content thing anyways. You really shouldn’t bother with fashion until you have an 80 in full exotic gear and by then you should have plenty of TC’s stockpiled and a bit of gold , if you leveled properly.

I have 12 toons and 158TC’s stockpiled. I got plenty!
YOU SHOULD NEVER NEED TO BUY THEM FROM THE GEMSTORE!

Seems from your post you don’t like any of the game modes that allow you to stockpile TC’s: PvE, PvP, WvW, which is why they are available in the gemstore. For the “I want it now and don’t wanna wait” generation.

League PvP is even more easy then unranked pvp to get lots of TC’s.

2017 Wintersday Scribe Decs community wants

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Kelly.7019

These are the kinds of things the community said on the forums this year we wanted for Wintersday2016. Here is compiled list of everything players have suggested so far, so maybe we can get some of these next year. While blocks of snow might be good for building jps, people want “holiday themed” decorations that liven up the place. I’ve included pics of some of these things below.

Candy Cane steps (like in Divinities Reach Pavialon area or Winterland JP)

Snowball piles (to fight each other anywhere round the hall)Snowmakers allow this

Some kind of garland to be hung on walls

White candles(in addition to the yellow ones)

Piles of gifts(like in PvP area)

Large candles (like in PvP area)

Candy Canes (like in PvP area- could be turned into some kind of lamp?)

Snowmen out of snow (not ice)preferably like wreaths, able to make many of them.

Snowman & Reindeer ice sculpture that are HUGE like helicopter height. (more in the direction of Holbrek Ice sculptures)

Large snow covered area(size like SAB or Fractal platforms)(bonus if you could place these large snow covered platforms on the waters surface.)

A “dusting of snow” similar to above but just an even bigger thin, thin transparent layer simulating a dusting of snow(like the floor of The Crown Pavilion in DR during Wintersday).

Large snow covered trees (think bitterfrost/Frostgorge Sound) and there is already is a tonic of one model from [Mystery Tonics- smells like the forest])

1 LARGE wintersday tree rather then the tiny version currently in game.(retool tiny holiday trees to require mats like wreaths and make large tree – made from small ones)

A sleigh- (rare expenisve item maybe a bag full of toys on it ) Maybe this was the intention of “Fancy Wagon”, idk.

Snow globe (norn size) ((bottom pic with green object in it. not a snow globe but made me think of it this time of year. It actually looks like a fish tank sorta))

Snowflake platforms (from snowball mayhem)

Just some ideas, list more of them in the comments below…

I noticed there was a new build when i logged in today. Downloaded it and now can’t access the TP at all. In almost an 8 hour window of time, zilch TP access. It blinked on me at one point so i could see some items that were ready for pick up, but just keep going to an empty screen window with an loading icon.

Yea, if your guild doesn’t have the scribe unlocks a pretty basic 101 to scribbing thing to do is go to another guild that has them unlocked and level your scribe there. Only down side is that everything you craft in another guild, will stay there in that guild. Your guild won’t get any of the stuff, which is why some i suppose say come to our guild and do it.(free items for them)

STOP NECRO’ING OLD POSTS.
We have this feature already.
PvE is different from PvP which is also different from WvW. If you purchased HoT you should have it!
We have 3 savable layouts.
If you have something new to say, make a new post because apparently people really hate it when you necro old posts and override the bump warning.

So no more comments after me and we can kill it!

Large Snow Pile

Kelly.7019

I notice that the wintersday deco does not has a large snow pile to be used as a foundation which means we have to use the normal snow pile that is pretty small and if we have to lay a foundation using it, it will use a lot of objects and it seems rather ugly as well. It did be nice if you can add a large snow pile.

I kinda thought the Large Hemi, before i saw an actually ingame pic, could kinda be used for that sorta thing. or for a Large uncovered snowglobe. but its way too small for that.

Scribing upgrades

Kelly.7019

One upgrade that would really come in handy would be: being able to toggle on /off a scribbing design so the whole guild could see what mats are needed. Much like how upgrades worked!. Maybe add a new vendor or scribemaster? That shows A: what big projects the guild wants to do, B: the required mats for that object and C: what mats people have currently donated to that project (or like upgrades the scribe can choose where the mats go to complete what first. I know i’ve been asked by many guildies “what do you need?” and it would be so much easier if they could see what i see. Visuals similar to how the guild hall upgrades worked would make it much simpler and easy for people to donate if they knew what it was for quickly rather then having to go outside of the game to find out(might lead to afking and doing other things for 1 instead of playing and buying gems ) i know i afk alot when i have to go look something up and facebook grabs my attention =D

Mystic coin suggestion: Dialy Completionist

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kelly.7019

There are more mystic coins being created than are being consumed.

Players can earn at least 48 mystic coins every 28 days with slightly more spending on the number of mystic forge dailies. Unlike before, players also earn 2G from completing their dailies so this means that they can get another two mystic coins per day compared to before. There are also WvW/PvP reward tracks that award mystic clovers as well as the final chest on the 28th day from the login rewards.

Mystic clovers are one thing, i wish they added mystic coins to those reward track as well. People use mystic coins for things other then just legendaries.

I’m pretty sure before i collected alot more mystic coins and didn’t need them as much and now seems harder to get and need alot more.

PvE easiest way to get coins. WvW middle of the road. PvP hardest way to collect coins.
adding mystic coins to those reward track paths would help
2 coins per path plus 2clovers final chests, sound like an Anet thing to do.

Though it wouldn’t help this PvE’er all that much better then the way it is now though

There are snowballs from the snowmaker snowpile, though i’m not sure if it works completely the same way as just the snowball piles.

Guild Hall Decorations..flop

Kelly.7019

Woah, these are awesome.

A portion of the community has been asking for more big decorations that can be used to create whole new structures and such in the guild hall. The SAB decorations, in particular the SAB walls and floors that you can craft, were the first step and these new snow block decorations are another huge leap in the right direction.

The right direction? Really? Sorry, Wrong direction!

Alot of people have been asking for more objects that ALREADY exist in game to decorate, not creating completely new stuff from scratch.
There’s been many posts about this even giving links to screenshots of said items.

I get that they can be used for jps, but really they are so big for that, take up so much space for one ledge. The only positive i see is that they are bigger then alot of the tiny little decs that someone thought would be okay with the player base.

Structures like a igloo you’ll soon run into problems of “too many objects too close to each other”. If they ever can fix that problem then, maybe yes. But i doubt they will as some peoples computers can’t handle that load.

you have pics of this iceman snow sculpture? or any of the blocks of ice? haven’t found anyof them to see what they look like and the scale. I assume the community has given up on anet’s attempt at scribbing and no longer care about it.

minus the large hemisphere pic i uploaded to the wiki, not at all what i thought it was gunna be. *(that large hemi is awful small, but i knew it was gunna be if only takes 2 snowpiles) -getting to understand how things are designed, and know what to expect

Anyone have pics of these yet?
(Ice Sculpure (Snowman) • Hemisphere • Large Hemisphere • Wedge • Large Wedge • Cube • Large Cube • Cuboid • Large Cuboid

And other then the Snowman why are these things the new decs added to the game? Looks like they were created from scratch while things like big snow covered pine trees like that tonic(that randomly selects a bunch of trees) still aren’t available for Wintersday decorations? Make any sense? No!
Woulda also been cool to have some kind of flat snow covered glacier like the Supercloud platform or Fractal thing. Making large areas all white is kinda fun!

I’m looking for pics of the “Snowman Ice Sculpture” before i dump the mats on it myself and be disappointed like i was with that ugly Pirate flag

I finally caved and had to make something so i made “Large Hemisphere of Snow” and also was disappointed with the result

Why can’t Anet just release preview pics of this stuff before you dump lots of mats on it?
I looked all around the interwebs and found nothing so far.

Two days of ABing will solve this problem. You don’t even have to do anything if you feel lazy. Get them coins son.

This is such a horrible response.

“I know that MC are in a bad spot, so instead of trying to change that I will just perpetuate the high price by farming ABML and buying them off the TP, supporting the hoarders who keep the price artificially high”

Two days of ABing will solve this problem.

AB doesn’t generate mystic coins. If anything, it makes the problem worse.

If you guys can’t see that the TP rules all, you are new to this game. And who rules the TP? Them rich folks that hoard stock and manipulate prices to death. Don’t believe for one moment any of you can change that unless you are one of those rich trolls.

The price of the Mystic coin will continue to rise and it’s very unlikely you will convince enough people to change it. All we can do is hit the best casual income source in the game and right now that’s AB meta. You won’t change the price. Ever. So put your time to better use and just do the meta, get your coins, and make your stuff.

When it gets incredibly bad, and I mean 7g a coin kinda bad, then Anet might finally decide to man up and fix their broken economy instead of thinking it was a good idea to leave it in the hands of the players hoping no one would take advantage of it. Just another idea they are outdated on.

I don’t know if this is true but i would imagine the majority of players have 1 account. I’m sure there are those rich trolls that have multiple accounts and hoard , hoard, hoard. i wonder how this affects the rest of us, and if this was intended when designing the game or became more on an unintended non bannable exploit that Anet is okay with because more accounts sold is more money for them? or something along those lines. i won’t get into details.

They are too expensive. Period.

Are they? Who decides when the price is too high? When it’s too low?

The community player base apparently, they are screaming prices are too high!

They 100fold in about 1.5 year in price. This can’t be good at all. The surge of coins you generate is very low and if you need any you have to either wait for months/years.

No one ‘needs’ any. The sole use of m-coins is on premium skins and a dozen or so one-time guild buffs. The surge of coins we get for free is about a stack per year, which is plenty for those of modest means. If you want more premium skins more often, I don’t see why it’s a bad thing to pay a premium.

No one ‘needs’ to play this game. Good strategy to make people stop playing alltogether. Oh wait, then prices will go up even higher the less people that are playing, yay!!!

Also wtf guys you’re talking about ‘price is about the same as last year’. The price of the coins during last Wintersday were 10-12s, it tenfold since then…

  • Price during same week last year was 27-31 silver, when it spiked with the release of the new skin.
  • Price hit 65-75 silver during June of this year.
  • Mid-July, it was 75-86.
  • Late July, it was 50-60 (it went down, when people thought it was dropping frequently from Current Events)
  • In October, it hit 76-86.
  • In November, it was down to 68-76.
  • With the return of a fancy skin, it peaked at 93-104.
  • Now it’s at 90-95.

The problem is that a lot are used for the guild hall and the new legendaries use all one stack more than the old ones. So the surge of coins is about the same as ever, but the demand is much higher. Probably also some greedy folks who hoard the coins to make money.

I would imagine that the vast majority of demand for guild halls has already happened. It’s a one-time requirement and while some guilds are still building, most have had over a year and no longer need them. What’s more likely is that the community’s psychology about m-coins has permanently altered: we are prepared to pay 80-120 silver for them now, we aren’t willing to wait for our free ones.

The only reason some of us think that’s “a lot” is that we remember the good old days when m-coins were cheap and we didn’t have to stop to think about how many we had.

So basically Prices have been on the rise, steadily. Buy your coins, hoard them and sit on them! Anet won’t do anything about it and in the long run prices will go up! That’s what the chart has shown.

I don’t think the Gw2 community is prepared to pay 80-120 silver for them, if they were they wouldn’t be screaming about the price being so high. Yet people don’t realistically think prices will fall back to what they were a year ago, but prices could come down a bit MORE, and by adding MORE supply, as it takes MORE coins to make these new legendaries then before, it might help balance things better.

Because Gw2 is all about balancing things, right ?

85s10c -BUY//// 97s94c -SELL ( i thought they were above 1g last time i checked, let’s seem em drop to 40s!!!)

IT would be helpful if there were other ways to get mystic coins in WVW and PVP. maybe there are already , i’m just unware.

what are they…
—There’s the PvE meta thing “Rewarded once a day from completing the Defeat the Ley-Line Anomaly to disperse its destructive energy before it overloads event.”
—Daily reward every so often from the mystic toliet daily.
—Mystic clovers – sometimes drops 5-50 coins instead
—Possible drop from Fluctuating Mass gotten from salvaging (25 Dragonite Ore and 25 Empyreal Fragments) with these : Sentient Aberration or Sentient Anomaly(so, so rare)
—Login rewards
Still these are mostly PvE things, so yeah having multiple other ways in WvW and from PvP would be more balanced.

edit: maybe some reward track do give them. hmm or not? well k if they do that’s one way, now 3 more (each)

Login rewards are not PvE exclusive, and they are where >95% of the mystic coins come from considering how few people do the Ley Line Anomaly events. You aren’t being locked out of them by playing WvW or PvP over PvE.

I said MOSTLY not ALL. Let’s break it down, and since i’m a PvE’er unlike the original poster WvW/PvP’er i might perceive it differently or not

—There’s the PvE meta thing “Rewarded once a day from completing the Defeat the Ley-Line Anomaly to disperse its destructive energy before it overloads event.”
(pretty solid PvE)
—Daily reward every so often from the mystic toliet daily.
(need a toliet: WvW, PvE: you could use alot of stuff for this, hopefully you acquired it in WvW other wise it would count for PvE)
—Mystic clovers – sometimes drops 5-50 coins instead
(WvW, PvE : still need a lot of coins, to try to get more as the chances are more rare then getting clovers, and if you don’t have coins this option don’t count at all)
—Possible drop from Fluctuating Mass gotten from salvaging (25 Dragonite Ore and 25 Empyreal Fragments) with these : Sentient Aberration or Sentient Anomaly(so, so rare)
(I believe you need to do PvE content to acquire these salvaging items)
—Login rewards
(doesn’t matter what how you play just log on. WvW or PvP or PVE)

Yep looks “mostly” to me. And i see WvW has a few more then i was thinking but PVP is still pretty scarce. Adding Coins to reward tracks would probs be helpful – (i scanned the final reward boxes and didn’t see any, but maybe they drop along the tracks idk.)
