The red and blue areas on the map aren’t for 1 instanced home but could be a separate instanced map with many zones for homes in it, not individual instance housing like homes currently are. Yes, a small village or section of player homes is exactly what i mean. and these areas are perfect for that. (Tardis rules can apply )
another option would be instanced housing – this is where the “Everydoor is an instance” rule applies. (think of the other districts in DR, those homes could be your new home instance completely bare for you to decorate.)
and some maps already seem like the Tardis i’ve noticed.
SW and Dry top are smaller but compared to the other pre 80 maps seem like they should take up more space then they do on the world map. Now i haven’t tested how long it take to run from one side of the map to the other ingame, but i’d imagine the Tardis effect DOES already apply to some maps.
—Though personally being able to see other peoples creative expression of how they decorate their homes inside and outside is part of what makes decorating fun. Much like your choice of armor your choice of house style and decor reflects the same individual expressions.
(Uninstanced housing might not be possible of course due to limits with coding but brainstorming ideas is never a bad thing.)

So it looks like both halls have entrance from map wps, Arena wps, Main entrance middle of map wps, mine wps and then things get funky.
LP has an “upper plaza wp”, GH has an “waterfall plaza wp”. LPs upper plaza has 4 homes and a glorious waterfall home near by. GH has a glorious end of the JP area that can be sectioned off into living quarters, but its on the same level as mid wp.
LP has another wp I’m not sure what for. not really any closer to the nodes then the other main one. but it does help for movement around the guild hall.
LP also has many walled and windowed nooks and crannies unlike gilded hollows cave nooks and crannies, not as cool imo. Since i know GH has some stuff up above wps i assume the same for LP, but no permissions leaves me clues as to that.
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
(edited by Kelly.7019)
I can’t really compare since i don’t have LP permissions in my other guild to place objects and really explore. But if you have LP as your main gh then you should know if waypoints are on all levels or not. If memory serves, there’s one by the water, one at mid (Main entrance) and one up by those four homes, (3rd level?) Plus LP seems like more effort went into designing it/ bigger/better, but that’s probably due to no ceilings and being more open. So it seems like LP already has a slight advantage AND INFACT IT DOES. Lost Precipice has 6 waypoints compared to Gilded Hollows 5 wps (looks like one is already better), so that one i was talking about up on the 3rd level we don’t have would be nice to get! I’d say equal waypoints for everyone on those 4 levels would be the first fix. I’m sure Further exploration III will have much more stuff then just that.

Guild halls are useless, so unless they make them more useful it looks like a waste of development resources. You spend maybe 1min a day there to mine the resources then never touch it again for the day.
That may be how You see it, but some of us enjoy spending time there hanging out with guildies :P
I can hang out in 1000 places in the game world with guildies if I wish to do that. No need to do that in a content less guild hall.
I agree it should of had more content to begin with, the size is massive, 1000 objects placed and the hall still seemed empty, 2k objects not gunna do much to that “empty feeling” but if given permissions you can build some pretty amazing things. Just wish i had more basic decorations to choose from (with variety) and more things to craft.
Plus you can, decorate your own crib if you wish/are allowed to claim land.

Guild halls are useless, so unless they make them more useful it looks like a waste of development resources. You spend maybe 1min a day there to mine the resources then never touch it again for the day.
I spend hours in the guild hall. My new Olympic record is 9 hours straight! I’m the guild scribe/ JP master. I build different jps weekly. I’ve explored everywhere so that’s kinda boring now and with out WPs on the 3rd and 4rth level of gilded hollow it makes it quite annoying when building.
up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down, oh and that’s climbing/ jumping up and gliding/falling down.
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
They they should come fully stocked and not basically empty with nothing for guildies to do. You don’t build a house and forget to add the plumbing “Oh, well get to that later.”
Some people don’t like the time and effort it takes to add things to halls, but for the guilds I belong to, communally building up the hall has added to the guild cohesiveness. It’s nice to know you can contribute to something bigger than yourself that is helping all of your guildmates. If the guild halls came fully furnished, then there would truly be nothing to do.
Basic things like movement around the hall – Waypoints for instance, gilded hollow has four levels and only 2 of them have wps. I had expected Further Exploration to continue on a new xpac launch beyond stage 2, and was disappointed when i found out that’s it. The halls are so massive, they do feel empty – many people think that. They weren’t adequate with the abilities and functionality they provided at launch(further exploration, amount of decorations(and variety of) – probably due to the number # limitations. I’m sure they are working on things for a slow roll out over time(2years?). It just feels that true expansion not DLC should have everything at point of sale and not add bits here and there later on. Ofcourse its the guild members will do the interior decorating- that’s not what i meant. But i think you touched on an important thing, not all people want to sink their gold into something that isn’t theirs, especially if they can be kicked out of a guild or permissions yanked away or not given in the first place. These specific problems hurt the guild cohesiveness you mentioned.
I’m my guilds sole scribe- so maybe i have a different view on things. I’d love to decorate more, and have made many things because i like crafting and love exploring, but the cost is too much for just a few. Which is why so many would prefer personal housing that they can decorate and make their own, but then again that’s not guild halls.
…nothing new has happened other then doubling the decoration cap which should not have been an issue in the first place since decorating is a gold sink, and people don’t do it.
Unless you’re intimately related with the code, you may want to stay away from making such arguments
. I’m sorry that no one in your guild is decorating, but for three of the four guilds that I belong to, it’s an on-going process, and yes, a wonderful gold sink.
How bout nothing much seems new
Yea, i don’t care about the arena like some others do, it’s way too small to do much.
Build vertically! I was recently taught how to get normal decorations into the arena, and the complexity of the fights we can make is astounding. Just need a few hundred more SAB clouds…
Interesting i will have to look into this, thanks!
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
I know these are just ideas, nobody ever said its being worked on or even considered, but i know many players would like to see some sort of editable personal housing.
Locations, how could they be introduced to the game?
Then there’s the battle of instanced vs non-instanced, we can(er anet can) decide that later.
I was brainstorming on one possibility of using the empty areas around current cities as spaces that could be zoned for housing. The areas could be separate maps that are instanced(possibly based on what home server you belong too or not
) and much bigger then they appear on the map, allowing more homes- tada!
Red zone = seems legit, Blue zone = questionable.
-Below are the five maps i know Hoelbrek blues might already in use, but maybe on different levels they aren’t?
-Divinities Reach- apartments/homes on that outer circle would be great!
-The beach down south and west of The Grove also seems like a great location for some beach and jungle homes
-In Asuraland as i call it
i know there are those labs and stuff, but around that is just empty mountaneous space- Homes all along here or even some cave mountain homes?
-Unfortunately Black Citadel Looks like it has the least amount of empty space- but hey, making that dead space appear larger might work!
I also thought of putting some kind of instance on ever door to a house ingame
So when you walked up to it a list (like the FOTM list) appears and you can scroll through a list of names(home owners) to look at their crib. Too many names? then maybe it would just show the guilds you are in or just the current guild members or alliance members(if guilds had alliances like in gw1?) Something to think about and poll players about (wink wink) ;D
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
It would be great if in new guild halls you add zoning for individual housing. ( or making housing completely seperate…w/e
Also that floaty island thingy in south Eastern corner of Kessex Hills you could make into its own HUGE map just for housing! since currently nobody can get to it
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
I think you guys are being kinda harsh.
For one, they just put out Guild Halls pretty much, and ANet’s got a LOT of stuff to work on besides them.
They they should come fully stocked and not basically empty with nothing for guildies to do. You don’t build a house and forget to add the plumbing “Oh, well get to that later.”
Not to say that they won’t get worked on but you guys have to have patience.
I expected guild halls as massive as they are to be beaming with things to do, It’s been almost a year and nothing new has happened other then doubling the decoration cap which should not have been an issue in the first place since decorating is a gold sink, and people don’t do it.
Another thing is, the private arenas are probably only really meant for 1v1’s or perhaps 4 player FFA at max. Now, according to Blaeys, ANet’s working on it. So again, gotta be patient.
Yea, i don’t care about the arena like some others do, it’s way too small to do much.
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
Gilded Hollow needs a WP up on the 3rd level like Lost Precipice has one right smack dab in between 4 houses. There is no easy access to that area of homes. There is one glorious crib right where my toon is standing. (and would make a good spot for a waypoint)There is another glorious great hall with an “O” entrance off to the right and a fountain area off to the left. This entire floor which i call the “3rd level” needs a waypoint asap! I’m tired of wasting decorations to make ladders to get up there, or jumping the anet hidden route. It’d be much easier to get others up there to for guild events if there was a waypoint. It’d be also great if you could put one on the roof(4rth level).
Either add “Further Exploration III” which has these things or add a new upgrade for guild halls that let you unlock these waypoint locations. I would have thought they already would have been there and you’d just have to get up there with your toon to discover/unlock it, but nopes.
Now i’ve heard people mentioning making craftable waypoints that people can place around the gh, but i don’t know if that’s possible, good idea though.

I use the guild hall for building. Primarily weekly Jps for a few people in my guild. Unfortunately a lot suck at JPs and don’t care for it. so yeah, guild hall kinda pointless right now. I WOULD PREFER PERSONAL uninstanced HOMES! you can make starter kits to build them a gem store purchase more money for you and a house for me yaaaaaaaaaaaays!
Add new maps for homes, there is plenty of space. Look at all the unused area within the cap cities- turn it into zoned areas for building homes!
Or make any house in game an instanced customizable home. Much like the portal to FOTM, step up to the door and you can select from a list of people who have it as their house to see how they’ve decorated. While it is instanced it would still let erandom people take a peek at your crib
which is of most importance!!!

I need to be able to sail on my Yacht anet.
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
1 – ability to place objects underwater
2 – ring shaped basic decorations
3 – craftable usable boats in the guild hall only.
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
Though i do wish they would add many more basic decorations to the vendor list and more items we can craft. Should start looking at the idea of indivduals crafting these decorations and not guilds and make the requirements to craft them with that in mind.
Or at the very least more basic things easier/cheaper and more unique things harder/expensive to make. Some of this seems flipped currently.
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
1 – you already have bank access through the scribing stations. CHECK
2 – probably won’t happen this year if ever, they want people to be seen outside the guild halls and this is an easy way to do it.
3 – Currently so i’m told Anet basically thinks the Decoration Idea should be a gold sink.
I’D LOVE TO SEE THE ABILITY TO PLACE OBJECTS UNDERWATER! WHY THIS WASN’T POSSIBLE TO BEGIN WITH I DON’T KNOW. I originally planed an aquaman style under water hideout
only true explorers in my guild would stumble across it. but the ability to place dissapeers when u go under water
So no Swimming obstacle events this year for my Guild’s 2016 Glorious Guild Games we have going on in our guild hall. Imagine Swimming Jps!!
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
New ones are harder. Since you have to do collection to make it, you can’t craft 2. (make the first one sell it for gold to make 2nd and still have gold left over. I’m still living off my first twilight sold for funds.) I’ve made another twilight and Legendary Torch still have over 2kgold.
Old way is better. Luck or gold grind for precursor, but not double the T6 mats for gifts of might and magic, thats just stupid.
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
Word of advice – delete all of your placed decorations before making the change. The two halls are apparently not at the same level vertically and you will end up with some things in weird spots – including some that are VERY difficult to individually delete.
I speak from experience
.
Guild panel -> Storage -> Decorations -> Clear Decorations button
There’s no “Clear decorations button”?? is this sarcastic or am i completely blind? where is it?
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
I’m not talking about leveling scribbing i already had it maxed. It’s just that simple decorations like lamp posts shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg and your first born.
now the big lion statue and those other big things- that make more sense. The more unique items can be more rare. But surprisingly this seems flipped. Unique things are easy to make and basic things take for ever.
Plus it seems at the current time building decorations is better suited for big guilds and isn’t balanced well for small and mid sized guilds.

Guild halls also could have been done like the home instance in the Salma district in Divinities Reach. That way people could have homes!
yeah, they’d be instanced but yer guild mates could see it. Or there could be alliances with other guilds and much like entering Fotm and they now list each fractal level before you enter, you could also inside the instance approach a door and see who has a house there if anyone does a click on there name to go in and look at their stuff.
just some ideas.
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
Guild Halls are far too big. You have an area almost as big as Auric Basin and there is almost nothing in it. Yes, we also need crafting stations, maybe a mystic forge, mini games and other stuff like that. But we just plain need a more sensibly sized space.
I feel that the halls were rushed into the expansion or they will slowly add stuff 1/2 a year at a time. Anyways they should of had much more at release. “Further Exploration” should be continued.(i hope its continued
) In Gilded Hollow I could use a WP on the 3rd level (@ the picture below) and on the roof!
Since they are so empty I use the guild hall as my own personal minecraft construction area! I build JPs weekly for the guild and have a “Guild Games” going on currently to coincide with the summer Olympics. (many little self made jps, hurdles, gliding obstacles, ya know fun!)
I love exploration and wish there were more hidden areas, because i think i’ve just about found them all.

i hadn’t noticed that they were gone until now…. and am really disappointed. i used to use the crafting in the original WvW maps because it takes WAY too long to load into LA, and the other major cities…. when the original borderlands maps were replaced with those other ones, i didn’t do that anymore… but now that they’re back, and i got in the habit of going to Rata Sum to craft, i just checked (after seeing this thread while looking for guild hall threads). they’re not here…. i’d MUCH rather come to the citadel than have the ridiculously long loading times for the big cities….. and now that’s out of the question.
put them back please!!! or at least put them as upgrades in the guild halls!!!
I believe wvw’ers whined and complained that people were afking by the crafting stations and not actively doing world vs world and eventually anet got rid of them?
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
Some of these items required to make things have super low drop rates and i originally though they were going to be in the Basic Decorations vendors tab.
For instance:
Lamp Finials… Haven’t seen 1 drop yet out of the countless CoF Runs and farming Fireheart Rise flame legion while collecting ore and wood. I mean crafting these objects even without the finial is already expensive enough. and if i want to light a path or “road” that’s many multiples of these things which easily can be 50-100g with just the finials alone not to mention all the other materials. That’s way too expensive for simple decorations. And then when you mix in small and medium sized guilds vs huge guilds, there seems to be a fatal flaw in how this guild hall scribing thing was designed. So my guild has ZERO lamps as of yet because of this.
Nor have i seen any Palm Lumber Cores. Maybe after the initial release this stuff was cheaper? No clue though because i didn’t get “permissions” until just before the April Patch. But also, I haven’t seen any of these drop from the Heart of Maguuma area saplings i’ve been chopping down.
These are just two examples of the many problems with scribbing and better posts have already been written on this topic, yet its still a problem. Also size of guilds do matter, though it shouldn’t. The larger the guild the easier it is to collect mats. The smaller the guild, well you’re screwed basically. Enjoy! ~ (is the basic feeling i get from this.)
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
Seriously the 3 new items are 1 gold each? This incorrect price again? Why isn’t it 24s like all the other basic decorations? Sign posts, grave marker and that statue thing… all 1 gold each. OUTRAGEOUS! You doubled the decorations amount(cool) and make THESE things a mini gold sink? because you know people are going to use them alot, especially mees.
I got the “2016 GLORIOUS GUILD GAMES” to prepare, and there will be many events, which means many sign posts, which means a big gold sink for me.

Would you rather a handout or to work for it?
I agree with this part. Like anything in life… it’s much more rewarding to earn something than have daddy buy it for you. You will treasure it more.
I love my Nevermore, I love the skin and I loved the journey. The journey was similar to the new shortbow, C&C but because I got C&C after Nevermore, ANET made the HoT mats easier to get. Therefore I love my Nevermore a lot more because it required much more farming of HoT maps (which was a pain but as a result I felt much more rewarded when completed!)
Farming elder wood can be a pain but if you know some spots in Orr and other high level areas it can be quite profitable and help with other mats/gold. Do this once a day with a toon or two and you will be on your way.
Well, i made two twilights so i know a little bit about the grind but nevergunnahappenmore is just exhausting, it eats up all your inventory and leaves you broke. I’m still living off the first twilight that i sold golds. I guess the thing that really annoys me is that its 2X the T6 mats. Normal T6 mats would of been enough with the added collections journey we have to do now.

Just to compare it to crafting The Legend (the other legendary staff precursor): It’d cost around 1k gold to craft The Legend, and the current highest buy order for it is around 1400 gold. And it looks like crafting The Raven Staff costs around 1100g, give or take a few. So, it’s not like this one is worse than the other more expensive legendaries.
That being said, I too get annoyed by the extreme amount of ascended mats required for that first tier of crafting.
The original intent as i understood it was suppose to make it easier to get then a precursor dropping. But for the Nevergunnahappenmore it feels like about the same uneasyness… yeah i can build it but do i wanna now…. not really. I almost would prefer the old way at least i wouldn’t be using ALL of my stored mats on this one legendary.

We need an objects placed counter so people can tell how close to max the guild is and not just wonder why they can’t place anymore objects. (as i’ve been asked a few times).
It’ would also be nice to have some kind of permissions that allow you to see where all the objects placed are on the map.
I’ve been a busy bee making new JPS weekly for my guild and sometimes (not often, but still) have stumbled across a few objects here and there, that I’ve forgotten about. A location marker on the map would make it easy to go an delete all the extra objects and free up the space.
At the very least a simple counter would be nice! “998/1000 objects placed”

i’d guess that people playing during the day will be better,
the logic being that they aren’t in school/jobs so they will be able to spend all day playing,
people who only play at nights won’t be as hardcore.
Exactly.
Look at the global map. What countries are prime time for them when its midnight for you. Yeah its gunna be lower pop at night EST, but it all varies since everyone plays at diff times globally, but you do begin to see certain countries, that seem to be on at certain hours of the day. I’m in EST and often find in gw2 for some reason games are easier at night (9pm-4am). Yet in WoW (At the same time)its more diverse and harder with more east coast night owls online. It’s weird.

In PvP you can now get old PvP gear from Legacy Reward Track which provides as reward Legacy Armor Box
Only old PvP players could receive that gear before, because some items there were unobtainable, making old PvP players feel more important. Now… everybody can get them.
Is it just me, or ArenaNet needs to learn how to make some old items unavailable so old players can feel valued?
(If you are a new players, please think in a few years you will see yourself as old player, and you would want to feel special)
yep. disagree.
Been playing since November of 2012. Hope this qualifies me as an old player. That “old pvp” gear was just skins from the gem store if i recall properly. I don’t mind too much how they did this. at least now you can obtain them with out spending real money on it :O (yes, you always could, but you know what i mean.) I want tribal gear back in the game
There’s no reason to retire old skins anyways. If they are clogging up gemstore server space i don’t mind this reward track idea. But skins/armor should never be retired imo.
Yo, Ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
After grinding for 4 days to get some reward tracks completed for various reasons, i realized there aren’t any new PvP maps coming up in the rotation? Yes, its been a while since HoT came out but PVP is like 2nd to the last thing i bother doing. Why are there not multiple new PVP maps in HoT? Are there completely new ones in other categories other then unranked? There is stronghold(1) and that skycannon thing currently in Beta(old map redesigned doesn’t count
) but i see nothing else. Sure they revamped the pvp system and added leagues and stuff, but i’m talking about new maps. ZILCH.NADA.NOTHING? Does this seem odd to anyone else? Is this a whoopsy? I don’t get it.
P.S. I realize Team Deathmatch has been removed and underwater combat too, but i love underwater fighting. At least bring that fun water one back
I would also like to see more/better designed underwater combat maps. I understand why the Team deathmatch one was pushed out of the rotation, but I would have though it would still be optional.

Also I’d like to see adding new(already existing in game) furniture/architecture/plants of all 5 races in game. Many more options could be available. scribing is still too expensive. Not having a system like for guild upgrades where guildies can donate mats for decorations the guild has decided apon makes it a solo endevaor, pretty much. ANd currently in my 250ish sized guild its a personal thing. EVen a step above basic Decorations cost too much. BLame the sky high T4 prices of cloth, ore, leather and wood. A scribe with out their guilds support means no decorating for you and levelign scribing becomes pointless.
I think the idea was to have guild support, but the reality is many don’t have it, which makes scribing outrageously expensive. and i agree on the brown dye problem. the color of the pigment should change tier to tier.
in addition: I’d like to see more holiday events where we could get tokens/ things for scribing liek the pumpkins and super clouds.

I would vastly prefer that when they give us personal housing (as I strongly hope they one day will) that it is divorced from the guild hall system. Given the permissions issues to use decorations at all, the cost of guild decorations, and the at this time very limited architectural choice — not to mention the issue of what happens if you are no longer in the guild for whatever reason — I think it would be much better to have housing designed to be personal, flexible, and affordable.
I would assume that the cost of guild hall decorations would be something similar to the cost of personal decorations for your home. Those two systems would be similar as a personal home would still be a gold sink.
but i’d like to see them scrap future guild hall ideas and push more towards personal housing or a marriage of the two better.

I wonder why within an instance you could not code a defined space as its own instance w/out actually having to go through a load screen. It’s all coding right? Say for example a house in Salma district is its own defined space. Then you could vertically stack these defined space/boxes, and the house would eventually turn into a sky rise
(limited height of course) If the box was given its own set of rules then you should be able to code it to stack multiple homes with multiple items on top of one an other. Given how huge the GHs are, one could imagine a way to have GHs also hold personal homes that individuals could decorate themselves and have ownership over. Building a home in a GH could be a gemstore started kit. If one leaves the guild your home would be demolished and all your items would be mailed to you. The place where your house sat would become a generic house available for someone else to claim. I would think an instanced area like a guild hall would be, maybe a better way to address this then the multiple 1000’s of players in open world status, but idk, an open world area where anyone can “View” your unique creative design style would be great too and Half the point I’d say is letting others see what you’ve done!

Maybe titling something “L2P” is not the best way to engage with others in the community.

well @ level 80 normally starts when you can “unlock” the mastery system. So if it says boost to 80 and not boost to max mastery points, i’d say you’d have to grind it out. if you’re already at 80 the boost to 80 (which you’re already at) won’t do anything for you. I’m pretty sure in order to unlock the dragon hunter trait line you have to unlock everything else first, so that means spending all your HPs. but since, I have no need for the boost after leveling my rev from xpac launch and with my 11- 80’s and zero empty character slots its really pointless for vets like me. thanks anet.

Could our personal home instance be moved inside the guild hall?
Basically just have an optional Personal instance door inside the guild hall that would let you decorate your instance too. Since it seems many people want to decorate their own space.
or Think of the Salma District. Max size of guild is what 1000 members? 1000 permanent rooms? And then the rich could build shacks, apartments, homes…What if all the buildings in that area had to be placed. Nothing existed yet. No fountains, street lamps, people-npcs walking about could be an upgrade! Everyone could decorate their own space. This kinda starts to sound like an idea for another GH… but i could see some potential here.
The house itself could be an instance or inguild you could select 1 of 10 people to choose which instance you could go into. This would help with the 1000 decoration problem and allow for more people to have houses.
additionally it would kind of be fun if ingame you could do this. Walk up to a door and see if anyone in the guild is the owner. If so enter and see what they’ve decorated. Only owners can place and remove objects so to everyone else its locked. but this would only work for guildies? (i see potential ideas here) of course that might not work, you might have to be partied with them to sneak a peak. Some people might prefer a smaller home instance because imo they are too big anyways, well i use Holebrek Norns home instance alot.

. I’m sorry that no one in your guild is decorating, but for three of the four guilds that I belong to, it’s an on-going process, and yes, a wonderful gold sink.
