I won’t say I’m not doing this for myself. I need the pants and chest for this but noone is interested in going to southsun ever. I can’t convince either guild I help, nor players I know. Would anyone be interested in guesting to, let’s say Tarnish Coast’s Southsun and trying to take back the camps for access?

This is speaking from someone who’s only character access from Flameseeker would be an engi, which automatically would make the shield a waste: I love Flameseeker as is. I don’t think it needs anything else because, at least to me, it’s easily the best legendary in the game. It’s so sleek and streamlined I can’t help but want it.

You can’t travel through time and space, and then take a course on how to travel through time and space. That is not the right order.

It is also possible that simply seeing the Eternal Alchemy is what drove Scarlet slightly bonkers.

Also gonna go Dr. Who on this response and say Dalek Caan or “The Master”. Both say the fabric of existence and both were driven mad.

Thus far, she seems to have a Joker complex, causing trouble and chaos because it’s fun for her.

The Joker doesn’t do it because it’s fun, that’s a biproduct. He does it because he wants to prove no matter how moral, how upstanding someone is, they can sink, fall, and become the most reprehensible scum in Gotham. That’s why he doesn’t, or rather, can’t kill the batman. On the same side, Batman can’t kill him because he has to prove that no matter how dark someone may be, they can still be saved. It’s a product of duality~

Having trouble with a "main"

Yeah I don’t know maybe it is a bit of “trinity” lack that I feel. Having played SRO before though, there wasn’t a trinity there either in all reality. It just makes me feel like my character is hollow where as I would bond to some of my characters. FF11, my corsair was amazing. SRO my 2/1 hybrid was unexpectedly useful and fit my aggression. It goes in with pretty much every game I played, like my SinX in RO.

Here, I just can’t get that ‘feel’ if that makes sense. I wish I could just settle on a main lol.

I’ve been playing GW2 since pre-release and all the betas. I’ve adored this game since it started. I’ve stood behind most of the changes they’ve made, let’s face it anyone who supported “every” change is naive. I had an 80 in 19 hours. I’ve conquered Dragon Lieutenants. I’ve organized and stood beside a unified Tyria. I’ve explored the land to completion and completed Dungeon Master pre-nerf Arah P4. I’ve stacked with my fellow Toasts to drive the satanic hordes of Jade Quarry.

Through all this though, I still haven’t found a single character that has fully engaged me. My elementalist was closest and also my first character, but the mobility nerf to it destroyed my in-and-out playstyle. I felt I couldn’t be nearly as aggressive and while I still don’t understand the 40 second cooldown to it, I shelved my ele so it’s negligable now.

After my ele was my thief. Thief was fun for a while but it was too forgiving. Even GC 2 signet spec’d for fun I rarely felt in danger.

Mesmer helped with my enjoyment of toying with my enemies plus it fit my playstyle. Comparatively to eleand thief, mesmer felt much more all in. I enjoyed it for a while but being a GW1 Mesmer main it felt lacking since I liked playing interupt builds. I tried a S/P and GS with Daze mantra and while it was fun, it paled to my GW1 mesmer so I passed along.

Ranger was a god awful experience all together.

Engineer, while fun, I fail hard at. It feels clunky and clumsy. I run a conditional build and I can never seem to find the proper traits/utilities. Just seems too “packed” for its own good. I spent tons of money gearing this character and feel she paid off the least lol. Which is a shame, after watching teldo for so long I still don’t understand half the crap he gets away with.

The reason I bring all this up is because this is the only game I’ve had difficulty finding a main. I’m actually starting to get frustrated at the game itself for not having something that I’m drawn to. Probably a bit more of a rant than intended but I adore the game and it’s frustrating to feel the classes are so… I can’t even explain it. Maybe I’m just going crazy

Everything an elementalist can do, other professions can do better, but no one is as versatile as an elementalist.

I’m not gonna comment the rest of this as a rarely have any reason to play my ele, but this is directly wrong. Engineers are better suited to adapt and survive. Ele’s main thing comes from, I suppose, aura sharing now and “field” spam. That’s all we use it for anymore in GVG/WVW.

Dual shields would be stupid i think, the others yeah i could see them. I would rather see the Engineer get a sick looking Minigun lol

Chakrams could be cool, what would be cool is if they were split up:

Main Hand = Close Range
Off Hand = Long Range

That way we would have more options we could go Scepter/Shakram, Sword/Shakram if you wanted a Melee and range combo while going Shakram/Sword if you want full melee

I was thinking more along the lines of a 750 range AOE 2 handed weapon “set”. You wouldn’t mix chakram with anything, it’s too much of a finesse weapon I think. Also:

Ranger: Midrange boomerang?

This a theoretical build I whipped up just now when I was bored. I have Sigil of Bloodlust so add 250 base power to that. The thought is ramping up my strength so exponentially that the opponent gets overwhelmed while having enough defense to not be a liability. With this build I’ll be gaining MIGHT stacks on:

x1 Dodge 100%
x1 Crit
x1 Fire Attunement
x3 Cantrip Use (Will also be granted regen and vigor)
x3 Element Attunement of any kind

So assuming the initial attack goes well I’ll be sitting at 6-9 stacks instantly. Adding the 60% crit chance from Attunement base Fury and Aura based Fury I feel this will allow me to keep a fairly high consistant DPS. With the Earth/Water investment I’ll get a little extra defensive boost.

Is this well rounded enough or would you guys change it? I outright refuse to 0/10/0/30/30 lol. Always been about finding a niche build based on playstyle and I play aggressive.

Not Enjoying Engineer as much as I should

I love the high APM, unique playstyle, and adaptability of the class. All that aside this is the only class I’ve played that doesn’t… I guess “feel” right. As I’m heavily involved in WvW I often get jumped 2-3v1. I don’t have enough dmg with conditions to down people before being overwhelmed. My skills are clunky and often backfire, leaving me in a bad position.

I adore this class and I want to get this to work. Maybe if people can throw some builds my way I can look through and adjust them. Right now I’m just running a 1.5k condition, 1700 toughness, nade/boots/toolkit build. Anything you can do to help me learn the class more or give me ideas I would appreciate. I really enjoy this class.

4 Roll into Cover – .5 second cast time, 3/4 second evade into 3 second stealth. 5 initiative
5 Take Aim – Character lies on the ground, aiming at target. “Holding” channel with 1 second intervals. 5 initiative
1 second – Wild Shot: Cripples Target. 2 seconds – Center Mass: Applies Vulnerability. 3 seconds – Headshot: Stuns target. Automatic critical and increase in applied base damage.

I’ve done a lot of looking around and I need to work on my engi-play. I’m looking for ALL tips and tricks you can give me, even the easiest ones like using healing turret twice in a row causes a blast finisher.

I could also use build advice. I’m running @ vanilla stats : 1.2k power, 45% crit chance, 1705 toughness, 1,210 conditional, and 70% conditional duration. I’m open to making a power set as well. As a wvw roamer I’ve been having a lot of trouble dealing with 2v1 situations and any/all adjustments can be useful.

They’re huge and look out of place on light/med armors unless you’re using full Dredge. That said if they reduce the sprite 25-33% and sharpen the quality I think it’ll look much better for all classes involved and not just heavy.

Sadly I don’t think anyone cares for character development or story. There could be strong implications that Evon eats children and is a Jormag worshipper but players would still vote for him because of that fractal.

It’s really just about the fractals in the end.

Here you go:

Evon founded and runs the Black Lion Trading Company, which if I remember right was to protect traders who were being ambushed and killed during their travels. This means he has previous experience in Political and Home Defense fields. He’s also running the largest and most successful economic driving factor in Tyria. So he has Economic experience as well.

Evon is running under his own power and beliefs where are Kiel was shoved into the arena by Magus. He registered her, stole a ship for her, and dubbed her a captain.

There’s already 4 humans on the council while there’s only 1 charr representative.

Everything “Kiel” has accomplished has been done by her telling the player to go ahead of her and clear it out. She then gets all the credit which effectively makes her the Kormir of GW2. Kormir is a god where she shouldn’t be, Kiel has a chance to end up as a council member when she shouldn’t be.

Those are the reasons (aside from me being a GW1 player) I will vote for Evon.

(EDIT LINE) Also I would like to see Anet take the opportunity to make Kiel a “sky” enforcer. Have her take her new ill gotten airship and explore the world learning more about it as well as broadening her views/experiences. If Evon loses since he’s a charr I fear they’ll just make him evil. Kiel has a better chance of being someone who in later lore descends from an airship tp the ground smiles and says “You need help partner?”

Its a charr racial skill but I would love something similar to it but with longer range for engies. Though probably supply crate would still outclass it unless it had a very long range

Or worked like meteor storm/art barrage but with less projectiles and had a knockdown to it.

Even without EXTRA critical damage, critting still ups your damage 150% so even though you’re not massive crit damage, you’re still getting a massive boost to your overall damage. Again though, I did say was considering swapping a few accessories to crit damage.

I stopped playing my ele a while back even before the RTL nerf. I experimented with other classes and learned all I could about them. After months I decided ele was the truest love to my play style so I decided to play it again.

My old build didn’t work and I worked on making it more flexible. It’s a solid mix between CON/Direct dmg with some survival tossed in.

Gear:
Weapons – 2 Soldier Daggers (Superior Sigil of Corruption/Doom)
Rampager – Hat/Shoulders/Glove/Boots (Crest of the Soldier)
Berserker – Chest/Pants (Crest of the Soldier)
Rabid – Accessories (Coral Orb)

Traits:
Fire – 10 (III)
Air – 0
Earth – 30 (III / VI / XI)
Water – 20 (III / V)
Arcane – 10 (V)

It’s just a first run on it, but with the mix of survival/damage I’ve been doing extremely well in 1v1 and 2v1 situations. Swapping to staff in zerg fights for obvious reasons, but yeah, I’ll be mixing it a little since this is based on consistant damage and not spike. I may be removing the Berserker gear and swapping it out for something else but we’ll see. I may end up changing my accessories to cavalier’s to make the berserker worth while.

Typical stats float 1,800-2,200 power, 1700-1800 toughness, 1000-1400 conditional with a 41-61% crit chance based on might/food/aura

As an engi you will die, repeatedly, with no chance of redemption or escape. With thief, you can cloak and teleport 2800 units easily. I <3 my engi but it’s so difficult to do properly. And if someone interupts your 1v1 as an engi, you’re probably dead.

I swapped to P/P and changed out some of my traits. I seem to be having better luck with the combo. Changed out my Healing Turret and 3rd utility to Elixer Heal and Elixer S for stomping.


Line for Discussion——
I have 10 points left over from the “test” build. My grenades I’m reluctant to get rid of due to how many conditions I can stack in such a short period of time. That said I agree, if you’re not hitting about 80% of the throws, you’re wasting a slot/DPS so I’m willing to hear some swap suggestions. HGH isn’t worthwhile for me since I’m only using 2 elixers. I might take out 20 power points and re-adjust them.

Engi’s are the red-headed stepchild of this game. I’ve said this before, Anet really doesn’t ever play engineer. If they did we’d have hobosacks toggled, we’d have legendaries patched into our kits, we’d have more skin options for the THREE weapons we can use, and we’d use shotguns instead of holding sniper rifles as shotguns.

I’m been trying to work out a roaming build recently for WVW and I’ve just been getting absolutely dominated wherever I go. Usually this happens because of 2v1 situations or lack of stun breakers so I’ll ask you all.

There are my stats/build at the moment without food/utility/stacks. Grenade kit and Tool Kit are pretty much staples for me but I’m having a ton of difficulty figuring out my third utility. I keep swappping between Rocket Boots, Elixer Gun, Elixer S and Slick Shoes.

I’m not asking for a static build where I never swap anything, as I’m try to adjust to the enemy before they attack, but I’m taking massive damage regardless of my armor. Where would you balance out my stats if at all? Would you recommend a 3 kit or 2kit/gadget?

Help me out here with some outlines, I’m having more difficulty with this than I have any other class. That said I did declare it my main, and I want to master it. All help is appreciated

Precourser for Achievement Points

I made a suggestion thread for this a while back and pretty much got torn apart.

I put out the idea that every 1,000 AP you’d get an achievement coin. At 5 achievement coins + world completion (which you already need) + Story Completion, you would get one of the anon messages saying something to the extent of

“You’ve proven yourself to be a hero in the lands of Tyria. Far and wide your heroic deeds are known. Not only for defeating the Great Elder Dragon Zhaitan, but for taking the time to help every day citizens. You see through prejudiced and are a beacon of hope in these dark times. You’ve started building your story, and now it’s time for you to pursue it. Take this seal to (npc name), it’s time for you to forge your own Legend.”

You receive a seal and take it to an NPC for a SOULBOUND ON ACQUIRE precursor.

And to throw it out there, I’ve already made Kudzu, so all these “boo hoo” comments about already having one, RNG isn’t prestige. Prestige is something you work for and you struggle for.

Even if you get it my way, which would take months of work, but there’s no guarentee people would even do them.

I don’t know if I just never noticed this before, but “Oil Slick”s toolbelt skill skill is a stun breaker. Runs at double speed for 5 seconds as a stunbreak? That seems crazy useful xD

You might get an Anet answer to this, but I don’t think you’re gonna like it. As I understand it, if you go outside the TP, you assume the risk.

I figured this was the case. Putting Kudzu up and wasting 69gold on listing fee alone with the chance someone undercuts me, effectively wasting 69g…. that’s just screwed up. When it comes to BIG items, I swear I just wish they would make listing fees take it out after the auction.

I was just wonder as to ANET’s policy on this. I realize there’s the auction house, but when it comes to selling large items you get taxed so heavily that it’s a deterrent. If they took out all the money (including listing fee) after it sold that would be one thing. Getting off track, but I finally finished making a Kudzu. I want to use the profits from it to help 2 of my friends get their precursors.

Could ANET could answer this:
If I make a trade with another player via mail system, both have in-text agreements and confirmations as to the deal, would ANET punish the player as to the “scamming” report as well as return the bow if they did nothing but attempt to steal it?

You basically just took a dump on literally every single weapon combination we got and then asked to be convinced to play one. Why not list what you like to do and people will list what builds they find successful for that activity?

Well it’s not so much I’m trying to take a dump on them but I can see your point. Comparing release ele and the current won’t help my current situation. I suppose PVE it’s all about numbers to the lightning hammer build would work.

WvW I adore roaming and X/D was the king of that. Now you can’t risk using RTL to get around due to the cooldown so I suppose a good in-and-out build for 1v1-2 would be nice.

Let me pre-phrase this by saying Elementalist was my first character. Made her during pre-release and leveled her to 80 within a day due to how much I loved the feel of it. Over 700 hours on her alone but after EA, RTL, Confusion-Bow, mist form, and a multitude of other nerfs I felt so discouraged I stopped playing my ele.

Well I want to get back into it but I’m not sure if it will feel as fun. /Focus is useless so I pretty much discredit it completely, S/X feels more PvE archetyped aside from the gimmick burst build, D/D no longer feels like it has a flow and staff is purely a zerg weapon.

I really want to feel the same way about this class as I used to but I don’t know if it’s possible. If anyone feels up to it throw out some theorycrafts and/or popular builds that are being used as of late. Thank you in advance, hopefully I can get back into my first obsession.

Honestly, all they need to do is make them kits like the Engie and I’d be good to go.

My first character was a pre-release Human D/D Elementalist. I leveled her to max within 24 hours, had exotics within a week. Aside from random “test builds” I never changed my spec from 0/0/30/20/20. I adored the fluid in and out motions, the particle spectacle I would see each combo and the synergy between perfect attunement swaps.

I started branching out after 6 months in and played the other characters I maxed. Thief, Ranger, Elementalist, Guardian and always found myself returning to Elementalist. At first the nerfs were small, but consistent.

Playing the ele for so long, I knew the class inside and out. Simply put Scepter was good for PVE, not for PVP/WVW. Focus was only useful for countersieging and was nerfed. X/D was needed for the mobility, but was nerfed, FAR more than needed. Healing foods were nerfed, condition removals were nerfed, EA was nerfed, and mistform was nerfed.

I admit, mistform nerf was necessary. Way too powerful in conjuncture with Ether Renewal, however all these things together destroyed the class as a whole. Now it feels slow and clunky, there’s a decidedly obvious lack of flow to your skills, and they nerfed unique builds. The reason D/D was so popular is because S/X and X/F just were NOT viable for wvw. Sure there’s the spike dmg S/D as a gimmick, but that was nerfed with the X/D.

Afterwords I reverted to my thief, which was then hit with the nerfbat when mug was “reworked”. I swapped to my mesmer and stayed there. Now, however, the class feels hollow. I used to enjoy mesmer but I feel as though I was funneled into the class due to poor planning and balance. I’m by no means yelling witchcraft at ANET, but I’m having a hard time understanding their direction.

More and more often I find people being funneled into classes they don’t like simply due to the fact that they can’t play their class the way they want to anymore. Instead of the consistant nerfs ANET has been throwing out the last few months, I would honest to god like to see a portion of them reverted and instead, buff non-viable weapon sets/traits. Last I remember they removed subclassing to focus more on balancing properly, yet that goal seems to elude them. If something becomes popular it’s because that’s probably the most effective way to play. Some may be overpowered such as ether/mist and crit mug, but instead of destroying it I would instead like to see them work on making other things viable.

Summoned weapons for example. I love the concept, but outside of very situational instances, there’s no need for them and they’re fairly discouraged. Hell, even the change to my old Confusion-Bow build felt extremely unwarranted. A bit of a rant, but I do really like this game. I just feel as though I’m being forced into playing classes I have no interest in and it’s annoying.
