There were comments in a recent video to the effect that they are already thinking about allowing stories to diverge per-server in the future, http://www.eurogamer.pt/videos/entrevista-game-designer-guild-wars-2 . You can skip to about 1m30s into it for Colin’s comment.
It’s a nice idea. I wouldn’t really mind it and Colin would definitely know more about ANet’s financials than I do but I don’t think they can afford to do it properly. By properly I mean allowing all servers to fully diverge. There are currently 51 worlds, I don’t think there is any developer with the financial or human resources to be making content for 51 games at once.
At best they could pull a Claw Island every couple of steps and in that case I would rather they didn’t try.
It might be useful if you use ranged and want to aim manually. That is very difficult to do right now since your character blocks the target.
Where are you looking? I just checked the home world borderland armorsmith and she has them.

Is anyone else farming these? I’ve gathered up 10 so far. They seem to have the best drop rate from “Splendid Chest” out of jump puzzles. I did about 15 puzzles yesterday, and opened several hidden chests around the world I know of, and 7 world boss events.
I didn’t recieve any from world boss chests, although I heard its possible, and I didn’t recieve any from regular "Chest"s, I opened several. I also read they can be in the daily chest.
But, splendid chests from puzzles seem to have a very high rate. Maybe 50+%.
I feel like these are going to have a big impact soon with the adventure box in Rata Sum. And if it’s a limited time event, I don’t want to waste time searching for more coins, I think it’s a good idea to get a bunch now.
You can get them from both the regular chests and the megaboss chests. I got one from the chest next to the harpy matriarch in Queensdale, a friend got one from the one the wolf den and someone got one from the Melandru temple chest earlier.
Are you clearing off the events that stops the pre-events from starting?
http://www.gw2db.com/items/66681-corrupted-skeggox#related:created-from
It requires the lv80 version.
In PvE, I prefer to DPS or Tank (I know there’s no real roles). I would support if it was in an interesting way, or if the profession could be a mix of putting out damage on enemies while assisting allies.
I guess you’ll be playing a Guardian then.
In Cof I only get molten core/lodestone not destroyer’s.
I think the point is to farm CoF for the gold and then just buying the destroyer lodestones.
Unless Forsaken Halls and the new areas function as substitutes for other missing areas then won’t matter.
Getting 100% World Completion does help a bit. That means you can use the maps on the wiki with area boundaries and check every area that does NOT include a poi/wp/heart that you would have had to visit to get 100%.
You might want to check Shaman’s Rookery, Sector Zuhl, and Griffonrook Run. They are all jumping puzzles would not be considered easy to miss since you can’t miss them if you at least try to do each puzzle.
I’ve got 2 of the Continue Coins from jumping puzzles in Lion’s Arch. Running the others to get more
It’s not just the JP’s which give those. I got one from the harpy chest in Queensdale yesterday. In case you want more. They can probably drop from all chests or even as random loot.
That doesn’t seem too unusual. Hasn’t Eir’s hair style been available since launch? I’ve been seeing people with that hair style for a long time.
The faces of the various ‘iconic’ characters are probably never going to be available.
Your post is missing a crucial bit of information. Have you done the same event on ANY other character that day? Where the “day” is defined by the reset time.
The fact that this particular potion doesn’t behave like any of the other potions is probably a bug. All the other potions will change your skill bar and one of the skills will let you get out of the transform. The only way to get out of this one is to log out or use a different potion that behaves normally.
Other gem store items drop as well so that isn’t too surprising. Extremely rarely though. I’ve gotten two Black Lion Keys as drops since release.
We’ve Been Infiltrated!
The dredge have constructed a series of surveillance posts throughout the Diessa Plateau and Wayfarer Foothills to keep tabs on their prospective new territory. Confound the Molten Alliance’s war efforts by destroying these spy posts wherever you find them!
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/march-2013/
It probably means one of those spy posts is nearby.
Double click to interact is still working for me. Tested with the merchant outside the LA bank and the master crafters.
Ground targetting not working has always been an issue for me before switching to fast ground targetting but I was never able to figure out if that was the game or my mouse. In my case probably the mouse since I get similar click issues in Torchlight 2.
Use http://argos-soft.net/GW2WeaponGallery/
When you click on an item it will tell you if the skin is available for karma and if so it will have a wiki like to the NPC.
It should show up in you mail. Make sure you don’t have mail sitting around that might prevent it from showing up. There is apparently a bug where the mail box doesn’t show up as full(10/10) even when it IS full.
When the wooden chest spawn then also include that cloudy/fuzzy effect you see used when objects(the bane of condition characters) respawn in the world. As far as I know no culling occurs with these chest because the server doesn’t actually have to do any work to determine who to show the chest to. On the client side they should be one of the cheapest things to render.
IMHO, the only dye chance they’ve “nerfed” is the chance of getting an unidentified one as a normal drop. I used to get one a day, at least, especially in the low-to-mid range of levels. I haven’t had a dye drop in weeks. I would say it was just RNG, but I think it’s with everyone. My guildies have mentioned it as well.
As for the chance of getting a “rare” from an unidentified dye is the same as it always was. You don’t get one after [x] times identifying it, it’s the same chance of getting one on the first try as it is on the 1500th try.
After leveling 9 to 80. It just seems like dyes drop more frequently for <70 characters than >70 characters but that is all ‘gut feeling’. Testing that out seems like too much work. I wasn’t leveling them serially either. I would level the low level for a bit usually by doing the daily then switching back to a lv80. This means the drop rates should have been the same for all characters.
Have you used what’s on the wiki? Armor Box/Satchel Recipes
That one should work. It’s been on there for a long time with no changes. And remember that just makes the recipe, not the actual box :x
In theory they have been there for a long time. In practice that is not quite the case due to bugs. For quite a while the recipes for certain prefixes(possibly all) were giving the wrong items. It was either giving the wrong recipe item or the recipe giving the wrong box or the boxes giving the wrong set of equipment when opened or a combination of the three.
At know at once point one of the exotic boxes was giving rares instead but there is really no reason to be creating those boxes since it still cost the same amount of materials. The only thing you save is a bit of space before you start using them.
There is also the Rune of Divinity. You’ll need around 48g for a full set of superiors.
I came on here to find out if the drop rate on these had been vastly lowered. I thought that greens could drop from them also, but maybe not. The wiki does say “up to rare quality.”
It had been maybe 6 weeks since I saw a wooden chest, but last night I noticed one drop from a trash mob, containing a rare. This makes me wonder how many wooden chests I have missed! I don’t know what “<search> thing” Khisanth is referring to, except maybe pressing Ctrl. If there’s some easy way to routinely notice them more easily I’d really like to know!
Greens USED to drop from them. That hasn’t been the case for nearly a month(it’ll be a month tomorrow).
The <search> thing I am referring to is the yellow UI that pops up when your character is next to an interactive object such as a chest or a lootable corpse. If you are next to an NPC you can talk to it’s green with the word “Greet”, if it’s an ore node it’s blue with “Mine”, if its a tree it’s brown with “Chop”, etc. I think you get the idea.
You SHOULD be seeing the chests less frequently after the Feb 26 patch. The condition for them showing up changed. They used to show up for everything that was Masterwork or above(and then some due to a bug). Now they only show up for Rare or above(although the bug still seems to be around, just less frequent. I got a porous bone from a wooden chest a while ago).
I usually don’t even notice the chests since I pay attention to the <Search> thing rather than looking around for hard to see objects(brown chest on dirt >_<).
A-Net surprises us by doing nothing.
It’s the best April Fool’s gift ever…. disappointment.
That would hardly be very surprising to many people.
Everyone turns into a Princess Doll, all those Norn and Charr can finally finish all their jumping puzzle achievements. :P
You had too many people on him. These guys scale up against you. We had Half Bake tonight with about 5 or 6 people and used conditions/combos really well. My mistfire wolf did some great dmg too.
Ugh, sounds like ANet didn’t learn anything from the Balthazar temple.
Scaling seems to go haywire once it hits a certain number of characters in both cases.
Almost as if the scaling is set up to be exponential.
That might actually be on purpose. One of the new targets for the training mission is described as “2-MULT will anti-zerg your faces off.”
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Guild-bounties-bounty-hunt-time/1685868
The brightest “torch” is actually the fiery dragon sword from the hall of monument.
Try checking fields of ruins, there was this one wp in west-south area that was.. added i guess
I think you mean Plains of Ashford.
The other maps are Brisban Wildlands, Straits of Devastation and Cursed Shore.
Could it be an armor-set box recipe like this?
That’s the only possibility I can think of :x
The guild armor is just a skin isn’t it? No stats. If that is the case then what forge sees the original item providing the stats.
If you can put the guild armor item BEFORE it is applied to anything then that would be a different story.
Is there any advantage to 100% completing high level maps?
Depends how how you feel about getting 2 exotics.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aggro
Basically its a combination of a lot of factors, high armour being one of those factors
What the wiki lists is just the starting point or the basic list for the average mob you encountered in the open world. If you read the reference to the interview with Colin there is a bit more to it. Specific creatures can have completely different priorities. The Greater Nightmare Vine in TA seems to hate ranged characters. That one should be pretty easy to test if anyone is interested. Have 4 people attack in melee and one naked person attack from range.
Knight’s getting all the aggro makes sense if the aggro table is implemented something like one of those “personality tests” on various websites.
- for each category listed on the wiki divide all attackers into brackets
- each bracket gets assigned a certain number of points
- so for the damage category maybe 5 for the person in berserker, 4 for rampager and 3 for knight
- for the armor category 5 for knights and 2 for the berserker and rampager(assuming they are in heavy armor and other people are in lighter armor or 1 if they are lighter) characters
See where I am going with this? Basically the person in Knight’s might not be highest in everything but they can be high enough in enough categories to put them ahead of everyone else. Someone should go test this theory. :P
That depends. Was the exotic previously transmuted?
Rare skin + exotic stat => exotic item with exotic stat
item from previous transmute + masterwork stat => rare item with masterwork stat
I believe you must be an Artificer (400?) to make the account bound non-creature tonics. Check the wiki for details of recipes. I’ve never yet come across a furniture or tree tonic but I know they are out there.
Those are also crafted by an artificer. The creature one can also be crafted or you can get them from the black lion chest.
More testing on our server, Jormag 2nd time (gold) = no Chest, Shatterer 2nd time (Gold) = No chest. I didn’t try it on my alts.. just my main char.
I like the idea of getting rare each time, but the lag.com sucks. Can only imagine people on lower end systems, the inability to use skills & etc.
Don’t make boss drops account bound, STUPID! Let people do event on their alts, they earned it! Limiting that is just dumb and just makes people have less of a reason to make alts or play them. That should speak to ArenaNet that “hey look this guys got 5 max level char, maybe I should of given him more to do at high level vs grinding or making an alt. :P”
A better stance would be “Thanks for waiting for us to put some end game content in, here go ahead and do the event on your alt you spent all that time leveling. Don’t worry where gonna add some more end game content, someday….”
Make sure it’s for that server though, not people swapping Alts & Guesting servers at same time. Drags everyones server down & lags out the event. Or just go extreme and don’t let guests get chests from world boss’s, see if their is a sudden 50-75% drop off for guesting over next week. That might be extreme, but again.. don’t penalize people on the server because of people guest swapping.

What was the point of testing when it is already mentioned that they are once per day in the patch notes? People can still loot all the event chest just like they have been doing for nearly a month. Instead of a potential (14 * characters of the appropriate level) rares per day it will just be 14 per day.
Sounds like a huge reduction but who actually has enough time per day to be doing this?
Assuming you can do every one of the events in 5 minutes and somehow manage to do them back to back it will take 70(14*5) minutes of playing just do to all of them with just one characters. In reality it is never like that, given the spawn windows a total of 15 minutes per event would be more realistic which means the only people who are going to be “losing” anything from the change are people who can devote a minimum of 3.5 hours JUST to do these meta events AND have at least 2 characters.
Oh and I guess also the people who park every single character at the Maw.
Just think about how bad it would be if every guild or group of 5 ppl wanted to do these guild events you would have to spawn camp the bounties. Is it realty that hard to work with other guilds or maybe add a few more ppl into your guild and stop being so inclusive?
That would be a failure in design. If there is content design for a MMO which doesn’t scale up to a MMO size population then I don’t know what else to call it.
The dragons are some of the most boring things to fight in this game. Last thing the game needs is more of the boring fights. If it’s about the loot, Ursan already pointed to 3 of them and there is also the Jungle Wurm.
It seems that an overflow server solution with world bosses would be better and easily implemented.
All events that happens on a “normal” server still happens on an overflow server. An overflow server isn’t much different from any other server except it will always have people from multiple servers and everyone there is effectively guesting. This means all events on overflow will happen at different times. You can’t sync the time to any particular server either since it contains people from a mix of servers.
Lag and overflow is only part of the issue. It seems like there are also too many rares in the world now. The price of most rares are several silvers below ectos. I suspect they want to keep ectos at a certain price range for the purpose of removing money from the economy. Ectos are good for that since nearly all high level items want to use some amount of ectos.
same here.. is there any way of getting the chest?
is there anyone who can get it open?
in the wiki it says: “This chest is linked to another chest.”
what does this mean?
If that is true it would mean it is like the final chest in http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Craze%27s_Folly . There is another smaller chest in an earlier part of the puzzle. If you open the small chest it also opens and empties the final chest.
I don’t remember seeing any other chest in Chaos Caverns.
Do any of the tonics allow you to keep your original skillbar? Some jumping puzzles, I have a hard time if I don’t have a speed buff available.
The only one I am aware of is http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Potion_of_Ascalonian_Mages_%28Master%29
You keep both your weapon and utilties. Weapon swapping and equipping a different weapon works but you can’t changed your utilities so make sure you equip the right utility before transforming. There is also no way to get out of the transform. You could use something like the Endless Princess Doll tonic to overwrite or a regular transform skill from your profession.
It would be even better to just remove the option from the right click party menu. There is no reason for that option to be there. We’re a small guild and at this point I think half the guild has kicked someone out of the guild by accident so far.
This is getting silly.
Obviously in the original design documents, dust was envisioned as being cheap and plentiful. I can state this with some certainty because of its use in recipes upconverting materials, a decision that was obviously taken to provide some form of control in the relationship and pricing between the tiers of materials.
Now, due purely to the price of T6 dust, there is a loss of 1G-1.5G in the conversion of T5->T6 mats, which has the knock-on effect of reducing the supply of T6 mats from sources other than drops. Similarly T4->T5 conversions are affected due to the consequential cost of T5 dust.
With last months changes to Orr drops, the supply of T5/T6 dust was reduced by over 80% however I don’t believe the consequence of this change was adequately rationalised.
A sensible solution would be to replace the silk and leather drops from bags with dust (as has already been proposed by another poster). Alternatives such as adding dust as a result of salvaging, or allowing the salvaging of something like the trophy bone drops would increase supply.
Whatever is done though, something is required to increase the dust supply, and increase it dramatically.
I agree with the rest but I don’t think replacing silk and leather is the sensible thing to do. The t5 cloth and leather have become effectively worthless and they need a better long term solution for that(maybe you’ll need stacks of them when they add Legendary armors …). As someone else pointed out they could just increase the size of the dust stacks that come from the bags.
Well that is good news. If only they had an asura tonic because I have found them to be the easiest to use for JP’s of all the races. (I have one of each race and Norn was the toughest, followed by the Charr)
Wintersday toy golem, toy soldier, princess doll and plush griffon tonics. The endless ones are account bound but the normal ones can be traded and there are many on the trading post. Those can jump and they are about the same height or lower as an asura.
It’s a jump puzzle that’s supposedly finish. It just doesn’t have an achievement or a chest, so you can’t actually tell where it ends.
Where did you see that it was finished? Last mention of it I have seen was by Josh(who did many of the JPs) who said it was UNfinished.
There is already another thread about Skipping Stones. It isn’t resetting correctly. As for Under New Management it would be “one of the easiest”. Urmaug’s Secret is about the same difficulty and it’s much easier to get to!
IF that fight has phases it would be very useful to have some sort of indicator showing the phase shift. That would make it a lot more obvious if there is an actual bug or if she is just bouncing between phases for other reasons.
Actually it doesn’t seem to work with snap enabled either. It just moves the window to the top left corner without resizing.
Not sure why snap matters unless you are constantly resizing/switching computers. You could just set the window to the size you want and GW2 will start at that size until you change it again.
Well the detail with banners is that you should not be running off with them in the middle of a battle. You SHOULD help move them along if the battle is moving around as well.
Skill 2 on Tactics, Discipline and Battle Standard also gives useful buffs.
Skill 3 gives swifteness and 5 is a blast finisher. So leaving them alone is wasting a lot of support potential.
As for conjured weapons, whoever is using them should basically plan on having someone else pick up the extra. The only case that MIGHT justify the tantrum is that there is a bug(apparently associated with on swap sigils) that will cause the ele to not receive their own copy of the conjured weapon.
I play from east coast US on Desolation(EU server). The other people in the guild are in west coast US, SE asia and various European countries. Haven’t really have much issue with lag aside from those times when it was affecting everyone else as well. Sometimes I have less lag than the Europeans. :p
This is the perceived lag not the actual numbers. I usually do not bother checking the actual values when I play.
