They use the same target list as the regular missions. It just requires you to kill 1 target in 15 minutes instead of 2/3/6 targets.
The “for small guilds” part is just the 3000 Influence. The idea is that small guilds have trouble generating enough Influence to unlock/burn for these missions. In theory the 3000 Influence will help them get there faster.
We haven’t gotten him yet so I am not sure what the strategy should be. I have seen another guild do it with around 20-30 people. It didn’t work out very well for the either. It might have been the scaling but he was applying 25 stacks of confusion every time while spamming chaos storm all over the place. Depending on how many people you had fighting him it is possible that you might actually need to cut back on the number of people in the fight.
Thanks for the replies everyone, very helpful! We will definitely attempt to pug a few or eventually find some willing to go on a regular schedule who are in the same boat as us. The total influence cost will be around 100g correct? with 1.5-2 months build time?
If you have nothing in Art of War right now it will take 133g and 2w 4d 16h then another 60s and 12 hours to build the bounty mission that you can activate. The time can be reduced by as much as you want if you are willing to throw more money at it.
Even some of the longer paths should be doable with 2 people but it depends on class. I just timed myself running the path for Komali last Sunday in preparation for our next mission. It took around 17 minutes with permanent swiftness and some pauses to check maps. With a bit of practice that could probably be reduced to 15 so in theory 7 minutes to search for it with two people and another 7 to kill it. It takes our group of 5/6 people around 3 minutes each. You might even have a minute to spare if it scales that way!

No. Probably because they don’t want achievements to go backwards(aside from when it is caused by a bug). World Completion status can go backwards but that doesn’t affect the achievements and it can cause people to go back to old areas which is something they DO want.
What I am saying is, testing in a zero-lag scenario, as you admit to doing, and balancing accordingly, is a very bad idea when you are designing a game around timing and jumping.
Fair point. Though I may be wrong about zero lag here. I’m not sure where the servers for our dev build lives. I think it might be in Texas. But I’ll have to look into this.
How about testing it WITH some simulated lag/packet loss? This can be done with a router running openwrt(should be around $60 …).
My memory is a bit fuzzy about this but I recall something about having to log into GW1 to get that updated/fixed.
Probably not. If they actually wanted people to be able to bypass Righteous Indignation then they wouldn’t have bother putting it in place OR putting in the change that stopped conditions from working on it.
As for the “Grasp” skill that would probably be Necrotic Grasp, 1 on staff but that is just projectile going through a Dark field(5/6 are necromancer skills, the ) which results in lifesteal.
I know in Cursed Shore they added a waypoint for the new guild missions. If you previously got the reward you won’t get another one for the added waypoint. I don’t recall any added points in Wayfarer.
No new WP but latest patch added a POI.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Can-we-PLEASE-rotate-the-colours-more/1774463
Not 100% confirmed but they will try to make the colors separate from the ranks so you’ll be able to get the other colors. Still won’t help if the only thing you have left is in Stonemist.
Two might be possible but that will depend a long on luck for finding the target in time. When we first unlocked bounties we actually tried one with 2 people and we got Sotzz. We lucked out and found him in the 4th barrel. We almost killed him with two Guardians using heal spec.
I wasn’t even familiar with playing Guardian!
Don’t really have any problem dodging on my thief. I am in the US but play on a EU server. Is there some thing specifically bad Oceanic connections? My ping to the server is usually around 150ms.
It seems somewhat random. I am in the US playing on a EU server. I have a friend in the same city(but different ISP) playing on the same server and same map. While the game is working perfectly fine for me there is an unplayable lag for him. At the same time another friend who is in London and on the same server is ALSO experiencing extremely bad lag. None of that actually makes any sense.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wall_Breach_Blitz Has a veteran about a quarter of the way through that respawns very quickly. It is also lower level than you(assuming you are at least lv26) making it extremely easy to kill.
Finished this yesterday. If you don’t want to fight the mobs that spawn it seems it’s always the same ones that will spawn so you could just avoid them if you want.
They were pretty easy on Warrior/Elementalist/Thief/Engineer(grenadier). Easiest was Warrior and Thief but that will depend on spec. Guardian should be fairly easy as well.
is there any usable difference between the purchased (green) and the found (yellow) skins? like, once you apply that skin to a weapon.
One is given by luck and makes you rich. The other is earned by hard work and makes you poor.
If you are actually planning on using it then one takes only half the effort of the other and it’s guaranteed.
Around 12 at lv80 using the Superior version but it all gets scaled(well it’s your precision that is getting scaled). Perception should always give more critical chance than accuracy assuming you have the full stack otherwise it has no reason to exist.
Where are you playing that this is happening? O_o
The only time I see this happening is on a very low population map and the dead person is out in the middle of nowhere. I generally avoid ressing people like that because there is a very high chance the person is dead because they are AFK and I don’t plan on staying around to keep them alive. In that situation ressing them will just result in more damaged armor.
Spending 15 frantic minutes running all over a zone trying to find one stupid mob who never shows, or died before you got there, is the opposite of fun. Playing Where’s Waldo in a constantly changing landscape with mobs attacking you which you do not have time to fight off is the opposite of fun. You can be as coordinated and organised as you like – we have split our team up between the relevant zones and then searched in quadrants from there, starting with known/previous spawns and moving on, all whilst communicating on Mumble – and end up with nothing. I am in a small guild (about 5-7 active players) and I will not be bothering with guild missions anymore.
For very large guilds who are actually able to encounter and engage the guild missions content, I’m sure it is just super-duper. For the rest of us, Anthony, I’m afraid it’s just a fail.
We are about the same size, maybe slightly smaller. The conclusion we’ve come up with is that to finish these the basic strategy is just build a stack of tier1 bounties(10 is the max). The rest is luck. Last week we got Devious Teesa + Yanonka the Rat-Wrangler followed by …. Yanonka the Rat-Wrangler + Devious Teesa THEN we got Big Mayana + Short Fuse Felix.
In short the basic strategy for a small guild is just to burn Influence and hope the RNG works in your favor. That was pretty much what Anthony’s suggest amounted to in another thread.
The training missions are supposed to support that but the build time seems to be in conflict with that goal.
And it just so happens to be that influence is one of the things small guilds have an abundance of… oh wait. And those training missions take a long amount of time to build, indeed.
One other thing about those training missions. Yesterday, my guild got Multi to battle. We were with 6 so we managed to find him within 5 minutes. We started fighting him and all went well, until a whole lot of random people started joining, upscaling the event so much it became too much for us to handle and it failed. Those people didn’t kill the sparks, much less throw them back at the boss.
I appreciate the open world thing Anet wanted to have, but for guild missions(hell, anything challenging), it’s just one big fail. And oh yeh, being a kick in the balls for smaller guilds too of course. But hey, we are happy if we manage to at least complete the lower tier after a dozen of prayers we get some decent targets.
I guess we are a bit unique there in terms of Influence gain for a small guild. Getting enough influence to build tier 2 and 3 bounties as throw away practice runs isn’t really a problem for us.
Due to the 12 hour timezone spread of out guild members we usually end up doing hunts when the server is mostly dead so we have been lucky enough to avoid having other people screw things up. I still dread seeing other people show up at our target. The way scaling for these fight happen for these definitely need some work.
As for the training missions, I’ve been thinking about it and it seems really more geared towards guilds consisting mostly of people who play infrequently than small guilds. It’s great to say you can do unlimited number of them per week but with a 3 day build time and there are only 7 days in a week … I also forgot that the ability to build two upgrades at the same time is actually NOT the default. You have to get Guild Workshop first. The problem with the build time is that it eats too much into the build time for the regular bounties.
I know what I did, I picked a sub category of ‘food’ off consumable. Things start at a higher price that way. The cheapest thing I see is 23c, and if you consider you need to eat 25, that would be a bit more than I’d want to spend.
So, those little potions count as food? It just has to be something you consume? That’s actually great, those little starter potions are cheap.
Haven’t tried those. I just set the main category to Consumable and quality to Fine. Cheapest right now is 6c. When it was buying for the daily cheapest was Roasted Parsnip at 2c each.
All jumps can be done without using skills and without using speedboosts. But they are made to be challenging. A few advices:
a: if using a char, do not look at the front paws. (due to the size and animation of jumps they are the most horrible to jumpwith.
b: it’s never W+space at the same time, you press w and 0.01 seconds later you press space. This is so in all games.
c: understand the visable edge and the invisable edge. In some cases there is a big difference, special on bigger sized character. So to get the char example again, it may look that a char only have the back-paws back nail on the ledge and you are still standing. Experiment with this in towns with low fences.
d: practise makes perfect. If you are wating for a friend to do something in the game, do not stand still but go practising, jump on top of fences, find the boundery’s and challenge yourself to get to places you didn’t know you could get to.
a) if you are using a charr, swing your weapon to have your weapon drawn. that removes the front paw aiming issue.
b) not sure what you are getting at here but assuming you mean “don’t press W and space at the same time” this is very much correct. I just tested this on the ramp near the WvW portals as a ruler. W+space is approximately half the jump distance of W→space.
…
d) this probably can’t be stressed enough, the first time I did the Eternal Battlegrounds puzzle I was swearing how I would never do that EVER again. A couple of weeks later I was doing that daily on multiple characters. :P
e) when jumping on to narrow platforms use diagonal jumps so you have more landing space to help avoid over shooting.
1. The trading post is global. It is shared across all 51 worlds.
2. Yes … you can walk out of the range of many attacks. Monsters can’t seem to attack on the move. You can usually strafe around them faster than they can turn as well.
3. No
It’s possible to blind the normal ones too. Dredges aren’t really immune, they just have something like -99% blind duration.
Simplest is just map completion and do all the events as you run across them(no need to go around asking people about events, just do the one that appear on your minimap).
Each WP/POI obtained gives exp, each area uncovered gives exp. Finishing a heart gives exp/karma/coin. Finishing a zone gives additional exp crafting materials and items.
Kill all the neutral(yellow) mobs you come across, most of them get ignored and they will often have the full(250%) bonus exp.
Harvest everything, every swing of your axe/pick/sickle gives exp approximately equal to killing something.
Get some cheap food(doesn’t matter which as long as it’s the cheapest and you meet the level requirement) from the TP. That will give a +10% exp per kill. Also get one of the sharpening stones/maintenance oil/arcane crystals for another +10%.
You could also join a guild, some will keep the +exp buff running. You can also use the exp banners people place in the world, it doesn’t matter which guild placed the banner you can use them regardless. People usually put those near the bank in Lion’s Arch.
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
Surprised nobody’s mentioned the cheapest, simplest method yet.
1. Go to any Master Chef in a city.
2. Buy Rice in Bulk for 49 karma.
3. Eat all 25 Rice Balls inside.
4. Achievement done!
I just search for Fine Consumables and sort by cost on the TP whenever this daily come up. So far each has cost me 50c total.
Having a speed boost(from a signet/Swiftness/other) will increase your jump distance. This means that for the same distance you’ll have more height. All jumps should be doable without any speed boost but it means having to do the jumps at the last moment. Having a speed boost will give you a bit more wiggle room.
Actually, all WvW servers are already located in NA.
(this is why they can’t reset them at different times)
The popups are simply lying there. If you do a trace to the IP it ends up in Frankfurt Germany, same place as the other EU servers.
Grenth Statue in Lornar’s Pass at Reaper’s Gate but it’s a very short duration, something like 2 minutes and it will overwrite any food buff you are using.
There is also an altar in Malchor’s Leap where you can /kneel to trigger an event. You’ll have to fight a veteran.
Can’t really think of any dark JP besides Weyandt’s Revenge and the one in Eternal Battlegrounds. They both provide a torch. Although for Weyandt’s Revenge I just use the targetting circle for Meteor Shower. That works for any class with a “big” AoE.
It’s from the Barbaric Set.
Every enemy aoe has a red circle. Every enemy ground attack has also a red circle. How do you expect them to fix that? It would mean to redo this for all the content in the game. I’m not saying i dont feel for you, it sucks, but to change all this for just a few people? Im afraid its not gonna happen…
By adding in a setting that allows the player to set the color. That would actually be helpful for non-colorblind people too! Someone thought it was a good idea to put red circles on red platforms in CoE …
Yes but it’s only masterwork. You have to complete Blast from the Past, Ships of the Line, or The Steel Tide depending the path you have taken.
You can also get an exotic one for 5g + 5 guild commendations.

First off all, this is not GW1
The reason im saying it is as you where mentioning, gw1 was bout selfish goals, you running a dungeon, others paying you to get it done. Don’t get me wrong, im not convicting you or judging, just pointing it is a different game. The survivor title was a mistake in my opinion cause it is taken from gw1 and put in here but very much bugged. This game expect you to be social, that aslo means sacrificing yourself for another. We have too many trains (people only running) allready, while it should be engouraged to jump in to help another. That is the power of this game and it is working.
I never got the gw1 survivor title. The reason is that i gave up. The last try was when it was still character bound, needed one more boss to kill and capture his skill. I lagged, got back was killed and never looked at it again. In my opinion it was bugged in GW1 as well.
But I just looked, and I got the title in GW2, never tried, never noticed i had, dunno how i got it but I did.
Like I said, imo this game is bout willing to die for another, not willing to live.
I mostly agree about the current implementation being very silly. On the other hand I’ve gotten it twice(second time because of the bug that reset every to max-1) without trying just from running around in cursed shore while trying to harvest all the ori/orrian sapling/omnomberries and doing the events as I run across them.
It is also possible to get the GW1 version of it extremely easily if you have Nightfall. There is a mission where you can just set up your heroes then go afk/sleep and then come back with the title.
gw2db.com and guildhead.com both have lists of what is craftable including the crafting level to make them and the character level required to equip them along with where to get the recipe item to unlock.
Oh, and one more thing I’d like to see, there is a delay after beating each boss, which gets longer after each one, so the final boss is like 40s+. This is good in that it gives players time to reach the prize if they’ve fallen or died (and even still they miss it sometimes), but is annoying when not needed. I was hoping you could add a “poll” element to this portion, similar to choosing paths in dungeons, where you can ask the group “Continue on? 1 yes, 2 wait” and if everyone picks 1 then they teleport instantly to the next zone, while if anyone says 2 or picks nothing then they get the 40s time before zoning.
So basically the dialog that pops up after the end of each fractal?

I don’t think it has a title you can wear yet, but that’s an easily corrected oversight. Hopefully they will add a Slayer of All title at some point.
Edit: maybe the reason they don’t have a Slayer of All title is because new expansions will add new types of enemies, thus invalidating a previous expansion’s title. The old Guild Wars 1 title only counted the number of enemies total, not types.
It was also a Eye of the North only title.
As for new types …. there is still no karka slayer.
Congratulations Sunspots. But for those servers that are stuck at the bottom and haven’t moved to the top spot in MONTHS, it is a real issue.
I see no problem with rotating up the colors. Shouldn’t really impact the WvW matches too much.
Dependings on the tier being stuck at first is as bad as being stuck at third. The borderlan maps are probably not as big of a problem for the first place server but I don’t really see any of the sides having an easy time taking the others’ keep and the tower next to it in EB except maybe right after reset.
The colour of a weapon can not be changed in any way. There are however certain weaponskins that have the same model but different shading.
A good example would be this one:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/d/d8/Rally_Greatsword.jpg
versus this one:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Dark_Asuran_Greatsword.jpgThe first is a very normal drop, while the second is a dungeon token reward and much more difficult to get.
The other example are the Crucible of Eternity weapons(red) and the Mystic weapons created from Mystic Forge recipes(blue).
If you are after Obsidian Shards then you might want to consider the Super Adventure Box.
You get the bonus chest containing the equivalent of 2 shards per character per day(needs to be done in normal mode). For world 1, zone 1 it takes about 10minutes from start to finish including messing up in a couple of places. That is 5 minutes per shard for comparison with whatever time you’ll spend on the other methods.
If you just run the first zone with 5 characters it will actually come out to be 11 shards in 50 minutes(4.5 minutes per shard) because of the baubles you end up collecting on the way. If you run it with someone who has a shovel and bomb that could easily be 15 shards but the time will go up.
The nice thing about SAB is that there is no time wasted waiting around for events to start and in theory no chance for failure.

Have you checked http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/interactive-maps/ ? I used that getting my world completion and it guided me to everything in every zone. That was before the new WP’s got added, though, so it could be missing something you need.
It has the new WP. It also has the POI at Jofast. Having a POI at Jofast makes sense.
It is important to keep in mind that you can get close enough to get the WP but not close enough to get the POI AND the WP icon can be covering the POI icon. There is a situation like this in Malchor’s Leap.
No idea about the answer, “Slayer of All” from GW1 would be appropriate.
I suspect there isn’t anyone with Giant Slayer completed. We might find out once the leaderboard becomes publicly visible.
I see, thanks for the info! Too bad you have to wait to 40 to go further down the line…
And how to you respec you trait points? I thought it was possible, I think I’ve read it somewhere…
Talk to the same NPC that you buy the books from. One of the option is to buy and the other is to respec.
WvW bonus? Still not sure if a “critical success” gives you more character exp or crafting exp.
My roommate and I trust one another to mail things back and forth at will. We give each other a lot of crafting materials and such, but when we run out of bag space during a night of farming, we often mail to one another and then hit the “Send Back” button, returning the 5 items to their/my inbox. He often runs out of space, but I use it because when he sends it back, that mail becomes accessible to my Alts. The downside is that he has to be online for me to do this. I wouldn’t trust many others to do this.
You can always buy a second copy of the game! I think it was only around $35 a couple of days ago.
All skill challenges are soloable, but that one is probably the hardest one I’ve done because of that event, as long as you try to do it. That event is not part of the skill challenge however. You should be able to run past it and find a safe spot in the back. If not, you can always run to the back, logout (it’ll drop agro) and log back in.
You can’t do that. There is a barrier blocking entrance into the room with the commune until those two are defeated.
I would like to see a Super Duper Monthly that gave 1000 laurels and took so much time to complete that hardcores wouldn’t have time to spare to post complaints about easy content.
“Monthly Completionist – 0/32 Daily Category Complete”.
Unless they make at least one of the options something that is time restricted(like Monthly Completionist) AND require enough of it so that you would need something like a week or two of it then someone is always going to find a way to finish the monthly in the first week if not the first day. Alternatively it could be like the October monthly and require content that gets added only a couple of days before the end of the month.
I don’t think artificial restrictions like that to stretch out the time requirement for the monthly serves any useful purpose.
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
He is only there after the event that starts on the other side of the map in Ebbing Heart Run.
Those are pretty much standard Inquest underwater skills. They are extremely annoying. The evade is probably because they are using something similar to Thief’s skill 5 on spear(Shadow Assault).
You do not need to do the event or even enter the area to get that WP. You can get it from the outside from the northern side of the ocean.
There are all the reasons people listed above and …. the starter zones are much better to look at than some of the high level zones.
