If you haven’t finished the Personal Story yet then it is probably “The Artesian Waters”, also known as the heart of Orr. It is directly east of Penitent Waypoint but the entrance is in the water between Winterkell Isle and Penitent Path.

The location you highlighted does not get revealed even with 60/60.

There is also an explorer achievement associated with the entrance to that location along with a small chest. The explorer achievement is Forgotten Stream.

Two were added by the latest patch. One in Brisban Wildlands in the Northwest near The Gallowfields. The other is in Plains of Ashford south of Victor’s Presidium.

The previous patch also added two to Orr. One in Cursed Shore and I believe the other is in Malchor’s Leap.

It has to be something listed under the Jumping Puzzles category in the Achievement Panel. Windy Cave is in the Explorer category. Jumping puzzle completion status resets with the daily(there is a bug with the stepping stone one in southsun not resetting but everything else should be fine).

Food + potion/tuning crystal/sharpening stone/maintenance oil + map completion + daily. That can go extremely quickly and of course you’ll want offensive stats but that assumes you are familiar enough with the game to survive with those stats.

I don’t usually keep track of how fast I level. The one time I did was around 36 minutes per level for 5 levels. So 60+ in 2 days is doable but that would be a lot of time spent playing in those two days. They could also stack on the exp booster, guild banner, guild upgrade and WvW bonus. That comes to a total of +85%.

The passive creatures with yellow names(before you attack them) can have up to a 250% bonus.

Gathering wood/ore/cooking ingredients will also boost your leveling speed. Each item harvested actually gives more exp than the base exp for a kill.

I have completed the story on two characters. A third is at the last step(Arah story mode) and the progressions has almost always been shared assuming we were at the same story step and selected yes when asked if I wanted to progress. There is/was some bugs that can cause you to split up during certain steps though. I haven’t kept track of those since I don’t care anymore. I have already seen every possible path.

Arctodus doesn’t seem like a good target to farm for Fangs. They seem to drop mostly blood.

Wargs and Boars in Straits of Devastation might be better for Fangs.

Did it used to have an animation? I just got one the other day and it looks darn cool as it is. An animation would make it even cooler. Why indeed.

I also agree that the staff should have a similar look instead of the current (boring) appearence. I wouldn’t want it to be a carbon-copy of the Trident (there are a few weapon sets that have the Staff / Trident exactly the same and thats lame) but something with a similar glowy feather motiff for the Staff would be nice.

I am sure the feathers used to rotate.

Only in the preview. It never(or haven’t in a long time) animated when wielded. It is definitely not recent and not a result of the last two patches.

“2 rangers, 2 engineers, 1 necro” doesn’t really tell us anything. What were their weapon sets? Kits? Pets? Utilities? Traits? I don’t expect anyone to completely respec their trait for each dungeon but even within whatever you have allocated there could be better ones for a particular encounter, even if it isn’t the optimal for the build.

I am just pointing out that is how they used to be. I have no problem with them being salvageable. It seems like that was changed without any mention anywhere.

By the way, what sort of salvage kit did you use? Just wondering if it is simply a Fine kit + item issue or if it was the ‘higher chance of rarer’ item from the Fine kit that is allowing it to happen.

Basically I am just interested in knowing if those % for the kits actually matter.

It is not the Quaggan backpack itself that is non-soulbound. It’s not even a backpack really, just a skin. When you buy the backpack from the gem store what you get is an item you click to open and inside are two items. The item for the quaggan backpack skin and another no-stat back slot item. That no-stat item is what you want. The item is Account Bound.

The item is called Rawhide Leather Strap in case you have to search for it in your inventory.

The trait mostly works. It just doesn’t change the size of the circle you use for targeting. It also works on the Mark of Blood you create with dodge if you have the trait.

The white armor/weapon bought from weaponsmith/armorsmith vendors shouldn’t be salvagable.

…. but I just bought an Axe from a weaponsmith in Brisban Wildlands and it also salvaged into Ori.
Bought a Dagger, it salvaged into Mithril.
Bought another Axe and it ALSO salvaged into Ori.
A third axe using Basic kit gave and elder log
A fourth axe using Fine kit gave another ori. The previous ones that gave ori was also with a Fine kit.
A second dagger using Fine kit also gave an ori.

This looks like an exploit. Could you change the title to make that a bit more obvious to the devs?

It looks like the issue is vendor white salvaged with Fine kit(or better?).

If you google, you can find results from people who have salvaged 100s or even 1,000s of rares and see their analyses. Their informed-speculation is the ecto-drop rate is different from the “chance to get rarer materials,” i.e. that the 25%|50% applies to getting ori instead of mithril, gossamer instead of silk.

or plank vs logs but I don’t see any difference between getting 1 plank vs 3 logs. On the other hand I haven’t really been paying enough attention to know if you can even salvage 3 logs or just 1-2.

It’s a teen rated game, ‘children’ shouldn’t be playing it in the first place. The ESRB rating mentions a lot more worrying thing things for a parent than a killing of rabbits. In fact in many countries rabbits have vermin status and are killed regularly to protect crops, this is in my view a fairly normal thing. In the UK rabbit was more a more popular dish than chicken until around the 1960s as it was cheap and readily available.

I’m not aware of any area in the game where you are able to kill domestic cats.

However there are plenty of areas in the game where you mass murdering many humans. Murdering people is also a lot more rewarding than murdering rabbits …

You can run almost any class as they are all viable in melee and range, excluding the engineer. I’m not sure if they have a true melee weapon, but I think the flamethrower kit got an okay buff last patch.

Bomb Kit is melee.
Grenades have one of the longest range(possibly THE longest) but they still work very well in melee range. The problem with grenades is that is can get very tiring to play since there is not auto attack option on land and the lack of auto attack can make it harder to fight and kite at the same time. Learning to play with fast ground targeting is also a must for grenades but this is a useful skill to have anyway.

To your original dilemma of ranger or engineer, in my opinion I dislike both. The pet is a drag on the ranger, and the only interesting weapon is the sword which is kinda buggy. I don’t have much experience with the engineer but I know they are kinda “Jack of all trades, master of none”

I <3 sword on ranger! That being said, attempting to use the normal dodge is nearly impossible if you have auto attack enabled, you have to use 2 instead. The choice of pets is also extremely important. For me that is a brown bear and a black bear. They have enough survivability to not explode on contact with the enemy and they provide AoE weakness and condition removal.

Choice of kits is as important to an engineer as choice of elements and pets is to elementalist and ranger. I really didn’t like my engineer with grenade/rocket turret/elixir c but just switching the rocket turret for elixir gun felt like a huge improvement. With P/P, grenades and elixir gun you can layer on plenty of conditions while still packing a punch with direct damage, even more so if you go 25/30 points into Explosives.

The same dye can look very different depending on the material of the armor. Your best bet would be using the Trading Post to preview every potential dye on the pieces you want to dye.

When hovering over the map for the completion status make sure it is actually showing the status for the correct map. There seems to be a bug that makes it show the status for a different map. I was hovering over Lornar’s Pass but it was showing me the status for Dredgehaunt Cliffs. Checking again in game right now it seems it can show the status of every map around Lornar’s Pass except Lornar’s Pass while hovering over Lornar’s Pass.

The come as part of Exotic armor pieces that drop. You can see those armor pieces on the TP as well. You will have to destroy the armor to obtain the rune. Some runes can be crafted but that isn’t one of them.

As for what drops them. Everything and everywhere as long as you have a sufficiently high level character. The lowest level item that comes with it is lv66 so a lv60+ zone would be idea to eliminate the possibility of the lower level items.

There are 7 “generic” items with the rune and one named medium set so there are 13 possible items you can get this from. The named set is Errol’s ____. Right now you can buy the pants for less than an Eagle rune. If you have some spare charges on a Black Lion Salvage kit you could save a bit by buying that and salavaging but check prices first since they are always changing.

You might also want to consider Ruby Orbs as a cheaper alternative. That will give you fewer crits but higher crit damage.

It depends on exactly what you mean by that. There has been many times when I’ve had to jump over stuff while fighting. Sometimes when kiting, other times just to get out of the way of an attack.

Mostly okay with the changes but stuff like P2 is iffy. “Hi! Half your skills are now useless and most of your traits are probably useless too! GL HF”

The problem I noticed on my engineer was that I was having trouble paying attention to both the circle for the traps and the circles GE was spitting out. Not sure it was me, the fact that you have to pay attention to both or the fact that my engineer is an asura making the camera lower.

The other problem is having 3 circles nearly perfectly overlapping, Great for dodging out with one dodge. Bad if you happen to be out of dodges and taking hits from 3 circle at the same time.

Never! I would certainly never pay real money for that sort of thing. If I am to buy it with gold then I could probably buy another with the gold spent on the item.

The only possible exception I can see here is Legendaries and for that I would rather see them made permanently account bound like the Ancient Karka Shell. That is IF they are every going to consider such a thing, not suggesting or requesting that they do.

Currently the answer is NO for that specific combination. They would not stack. This is because they both have a 10s cooldown and currently sigils that have a CD share the same timer. Meaning as soon one procs neither can proc again for the next 10s.

What is worse with Purity is that it can proc and go on cooldown even when it would not have provided any benefit.

I generally avoid having more than 1 sigil that has a CD across all equipped weapons because I don’t want to have to think about the interaction between them.

Speed buffs don’t stack, it only considers the highest one you have on currently. Aka Swiftness 33% is the fastest.

A stealthed thief with the Fleet Shadow trait is the fastest.

I don’t remember ever getting Fine Transmuatation stone from map complete(got 2 100%). Just Basic stones and Black Lion Keys. I HAVE gotten keys from opening the chests with those keys but I haven’t gotten any from those since they added the coins/influence items.

I am surprised you are worried about nerfs. If you have been playing a mesmer you should be used to it by now!
Every patch is either a mesmer nerf or a mesmer bug, sometimes both at the same time.

Guardian already got severals nerfs in the previous patches as well as the latest. Ele got at least two in the latest one but those mostly effect PvP.

Not sure what makes you think there would be a big elementalist nerf…

Aside from the Charge Lodestone the “Soulbound on Acquire” also makes it worthless most of the time.

Metrica does have the annoying heart that doesn’t show up until you are practically right on top of the NPC but that can be avoided if you talk to all scouts.

In my opinion, any swap of main combat skills should count as a weapon swap.

Elementalists switching between attunements will trigger swap-sigils, and this is intended gameplay put in by ArenaNet.

Necromancers have to give up their utility skills in addition to weapon skills when they go into Death Shroud, so I think they at least deserve the benefit of a sigil-swap.

Those things aren’t equivalent. If attunement change/kit swap didn’t count for elementalist/engineer then on swap sigils would be 100% useless to elementalist and engineers. That is not the case for necromancer.

If you have an in-game friend who has not yet finished the personal story, you can accompany your friend’s character into that instance by partying with them.
The only downside is that it will be their character talking in the dialogues, and not yours.

Actually for the very last instance that takes place in Caer Aval it shows it as if it is your instance even when you join someone else’s story. There may be additional details to it but when I did that last step for the first time I was very surprised to see my character show up in the cutscene instead of the instance owner.

Edit: A MMORPG is a terrible place for actual role playing, there will always be many many constraints and limitations. If you want that go with pen and paper type RPGs or MUDs.

There are two slightly tricky POI in there. Both are inside of instances. Are the two you are missing near Imperator’s Core?

I just bought some recipe unlocks but that is only because I wanted to get the exp for the daily on my lower level character. Otherwise I would buy one of the Orrian Jewelery boxes.

Alternatively , salvage kits and gathering tools are pretty good choices in terms of things you’ll probably need anyway.

Try the new AC! Did all 3 paths after the patch. Came out with around 2g. I usually don’t pay attention but that time I just bought 2 golds’ worth of Influence before starting and after doing the 3 paths I had more gold than before I bought the Influence.

I am fine with the way it is. Want to find out about things happening in the game world? Go out and explore. If you just want to sit and read about a story there are plenty of great books.

If you are going for condition damage then you might as well go for extra condition duration and apply damage mitigation instead of trying to heal back the damage.

The danger of ‘a little of everything’ is that you end up with ‘not actually good at anything’. It might be possible to make it work but I think that sort of build would require a lot more work.

Claw of Jormag is good for this. The last crystal for the pre-event is one and the Claw of Jormag itself is another. You are pretty much guaranteed to finish healer as well if that happens to be one of the dailies.

i’ve got a relatively small sample size, but for what it’s worth, i’ve been farming southsun every day the past 10 days with my 3 lvl 80’s. i harvest every node and have come up with 11 flowers. i use mithril picks and don’t use any banners.

Really? A Mithril Pick to gather Passion Flowers?

So what do you use? Fine Mithril Sickle? Orichalcum Sickle?
Rates are supposed to be higher with patch so has anyone gone and checked how hight?
