More on topic, I would like to see dueling. Not because I would like to participate, but because there is a market for it. As long as I can “unflag” myself, it’s all good.
It can also be useful testing out various mechanics.
Anyway slightly back on topic. Wizardry Online – open pvp, plus potential permadeath plus looting your opponent’s corpse.
Jeffrey are you going to be at https://www.guildwars2.com/en/community-news/guild-wars-2-community-meet-and-greet-in-seattle-on-march-1/ ?
What other sigils are you using? You cannot use more than one on-kill sigil at once.
It is not an on-kill sigil.
I just tested the Superior Sigil of Battle in Heart of the Mist and it works correctly.
This was with a D/D elementalist. One dagger has the sigil the other had no upgrade. Hit a golem then change attunement gave 3 stacks of Might for 20s as expected. Attunement change counts as weapon swapping for elementalist.
As of right now, I am 364/1000.
Where did you find your giants?
Well respawn is 1.5m to 3m and you can get two in Brisban. If you camp the spawn then you could get that over a weekend …
Last time I did this on my warrior I just threw rocks. :p
Couldn’t be bothered to swap to rifle/longbow. It seemed to work fine for me. There was one instance where I ran out of rocks.
Maybe late response but do you already have this one? I checked the list 4 times still missing a area..
Is the area thats only available through the personal story a option? Maybe I’ve missed that one and I will never get it??
Do you have Aurora’s Remains in Brisban Wildlands? It’s in the bottom left corner.
I am to lazy to look threw all the posts to see if anyone put it up as an idea but what about the bosses in WvW that everyone has forgotten about? Personally I have only done one and thats the giant forest grub and it drops a huge chest. There are many other bosses as well threw out EB that would take sometime to kill esp with another server swooping in. Champs and Legends. Just another thought that i think should be farmed.
A Dev confirmed that someone has already guessed the right event, so no new theories are necessary.
This means that several people have thrown out the correct theory. But after I went through 13 pages, I can tell that a lot of people have discussed a lot of those theories, so it doesn’t narrow it down all that much.
That was also one of the guesses, the overgrown grub. That is assuming it also spawns a chest upon death.
^
why do you need gold?
to become legendary?
Various possibilities. For example there is the achievement that requires 200g in your bank. The cultural armor achievement requires a total of approximately 600g.
Hi, i have just entered the ’’world’’ of MMO and Guild Wars, i poorly chosed homeland and i figured out, how to change your homeland, by 1300 gems.
As told you can get gems ingame… its gonna take a time to have 1.300 gems ingame.
The other option is to pay, i get 800 gems for about 8e, but i have to buy a 2000gem card which is 25e. And pardon me, i find this a robbery.
Its a little depressing because the game is so good ! you can get a new haircut or a little ice cream maker or one jeans with that money in REAL life, and in VIRTUAL life you get a change of homeland, please… ?.?
Transfers are free if there are no characters on the account. That should not be a big issue if you just started.
Absolutely
To add to MithranArkanere I would also want to preview weapon pairs (such as twin swords) and the ability to preview items from trading, after all I want to see what the dye I am buying looks like.
Previewing from Trading Post will arrive in 7 days.

Personally, I run a guardian with valor/honor (vitality/toughness). I spam the living kitten out of my shouts, and do my damndest to stand between the squishies and mobs. But rezzing is kitten near impossible with how long it takes, especially if they’re all the way down, and because it knocks your unknowing kitten to the top of the aggro chart, such as they are.
I think the idea is not to end up in the defeated state. :p
For #5 I think it would be better to cover what you should do when downed in order to maximize your chance of reviving/rallying.
You can speed up reviving by using Zealot’s Fervor from Tome of Wrath.
There are already chests littered through out the world. They just don’t need any keys or picks to open. Most are guarded by a veteran.
anyhow forgetting the troll, msg me in game, we are going on a hunt tonight! if your free and just want a place to air your thoughts on Final Rest or just to chat PM me in game and ill invite you to my Guild which ill use just for Rare Weapon Collectors
I am interested in the hunt itself but not the weapon so I am not going to be joining a guild just for that.
“Tonight” is not a very useful time indicator without a timezone!
Well looking at all the sources for critical damage -
+30 traits
+10 Plate of Truffle Steak Dinner
+12 armor upgrade
+9 ascended amulet
+16 2x ascended ring
+5 ascended back slot
+12 2x exotic accessory
+10 Banner of Discipline
+10 warrior/ranger axe main hand trait
maximum is 94%
with a banner is 104%
with a banner and trait is 114%
which means the effective critical damage multipliers would be 244%, 254%, and 264%.
Saw the section about dodging in the first link from Yramrag.
I would recommend disabling double tap to dodge. It is slower and at some point it is going to result in you dodging off a cliff. :P
Well next patch is choosable dailies, I imagine the people that can’t get it in normal play and resort to dodging a single mob…. won’t be choosing the dodge daily.
Hmm but you will get more stuff if you actually complete all of them.
I’ve only done this 3 times but … what rotten fish? O_o
I am assuming it’s this http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Winterknell_LabyrinthRotmouths…those stationary fish-like turret things.
Oh … I was thinking of actual rotten fish like the ones that sometimes show up on the beach to the west of that SP.
I’ve only done this 3 times but … what rotten fish? O_o
I am assuming it’s this http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Winterknell_Labyrinth
Well, I did Salvaged it, and it took me 3 months to craft it … so thanks for the support Wesley :P
And ExTribble to be perfectly honest I can’t remember if there was a pop up warning or not since I wasn’t paying much attention (I mean I wasn’t paying attention enough to realize I was salvaging my legendary). But I think I’m about 90% sure there wasn’t a pop up warning, not even the one when you salvage an exotic or rare. I pretty much realize the deed 1 millisecond after I did it.
And well, I just hope for the best. I think lately Anet have upgraded their support so they can track people account/item (I know a few people with hacked account got their stuff back). I think the game can track what legendary you have equiped on the account before since there are achievement for the 15 legendary (or so I heard) and I doubt anyone sane would be vendoring their legendary. So here finger crossing.
They can rollback accounts but they will only do it for compromised accounts but not for mistakes like that. Vendoring would actually be less of an issue since there is a buyback option.
Just finished HotW p3 … there is an area called Geoffrey’s Tubes.
Heh I JUST finished replacing my lv60 necro’s gear. Previous highest was 45. Jewelery should be updated even less often than armor.
i usually sell my blues, i guess ill start salvaging them. Would i throw greens in forge for the purpose of getting ectos?
Well for rares which might give you ectos or you just sell the rare but it’s going to take around 16 greens for each rare.
Oh, one other thing . . .
Don’t rush your way to level 80. There are very real dangers and pitfalls to leveling too fast in this game which relate to the way gear and downscaling interact. In simple terms, you can make your gear not only irrelevant, but wind up without the money to upgrade into more than “serviceable gear”.
It’s really not necessary to try to keep gear up to level, especially if the old and new are the same rarity. A level X+5 piece of armor is only 1 or 2 stat points more than a level X piece of armor. An additional 6 stat points really isn’t going to make a huge difference. The only exceptions are when the items go from 1 stat to 2 and 2 to 3.
Unless you are hellbent on crafting all your own gear. Most of it can be obtained cheaper on the Trading Post. Just don’t get too used to clicking buy without looking since some of the items in the mid levels jump up by 19ssilvers. Also remember a level X-1 Masterwork(green) is better than a level X Fine(blue). In many cases the Masterwork is also cheaper and comes with a rune.
Salvage blues, toss high level greens into forge. If you are going to sell on TP then only if you can sell it for at least 119%(118% is break even) of the vendor price otherwise you are just losing money.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/easter-eggs-and-references/1464678 apparently there are messages on gravestones …
Those are Masterwork … I would expect them to be the same as other Masterwork gathering tools.
If that is taking place today then yes, just you. Sounds like you got a bunch of corrupt files.
i don’t think it should be that way … It really annoys tho in the fractals for example when it’s very important for my build to be able to pull off conditions from party members
is it even possible to put rune in a breathing mask?!
Sure, it’s just another piece of armor. I agree that it is not ideal. It just adds another reason to avoid underwater combat. Of course that is not possible in fractals.
That happens if the instance owner leaves the party not when they disconnect. At least for regular dungeons, not sure about fractals. It will only kick everyone out if the instance owner attempts to switch to a different character.
it happens the same thing with Lyssa…once you are underwater you just dont get all the boons from the elite skill.
Is it meant to be this way or you actually have to place another Lyssa into the breathing mask?
You would need to put the lyssa rune into the breathing mask.
Curious … did you already finish your personal story?
Edit: Forgot I could just check that myself, looks like you did finish it.
Well that is another reason not to finish the personal story, it’s not like end reward is all that great anyway …
You can also get out of these by going to character select and back to avoid paying the WP cost.

Re; Spykits/Portal Guns
I’m (mostly) sure those are around to act as a safety net. The problem with those items isn’t that they exist, they’re just representatives of some of the more potentially exploitable mechanics already present on players. Getting rid of Spy Kits doesn’t get rid of Stealth. What it gets rid of is the ability for anyone to have access to it. Imagine how problematic the alternative could be.
A safety net for what? Certainly not dungeon breaking bugs and I have yet to see any dungeon paths require those things. I still haven’t done Arah p2(I think it’s p2, the one with Mursaat) but I don’t think that will require either of those mechanics either.
It looks to me like the PvE content designers decided to add some silly toys for people to mess around with but forgot to tell the dungeon and WvW designers about them.
If it’s not craftable then it has to come from a drop.
Well there IS another option but it is probably not any cheaper.
You can toss in 4 rare sigils into the Mystic Forge.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Escort_Parnna_into_Calx%27s_ancient_lab Has anyone ever managed to collect “enough” crystals for that event? I’ve done it twice now, collected every crystal I can find in room but it still progress as it if not enough were collected. I collected enough to fill the entire bar and then some.
Someone got very frustrated with dying?
1) The ability to produce best in slot gear to stay on par with other means of gear acquisition
The addition of Ascended to the list of filters in the crafting interface suggests this is already being worked on.
Thanks for the response, SynfulChaot. That makes sense in a very general sense, which I do provide examples in my OP.
However, there are some “grey area” glitches that makes me wonder if something really is an exploit or just a very strange bug.
Well every exploit starts with a bug. Purposely triggering a bug for the player’s benefit would be an exploit.
Gray would be something like portal guns and spy kits. There is no bug involved and technically everything is working like they are supposed to just like mobs leashing but it’s fairly obvious that it wasn’t how challenge was intended to be solved.
Graveling Scavengers are the most annoying and overpowered trash mob in the game. What other mob can jump you and defeat in seconds with no recourse if you have no stun-breaker out of cooldown? It’s like they put them in out of perverse motive to frustrate players and make them mad.
Is a stun break even worth using? I’ve never used one for that but I have been knocked over, after the knockdown wears off I get back up but then immediately get knocked down since they are still munching. I expect something similar to happen with a stun breaker, excluding things like lightning flash, shadowstep and blink since those are also teleports.
Survivor achievement is bugged also. 499999/500000
I just finished that a second time yesterday. Omnomberry Pies FTW. :P
Much cheaper than the crafting options people suggested. Two pies should be less than 10s.
WvW does not seem to give any Influence directly but since it’s full of events you would be getting influence from that. If you hover over each item in the History tab in your guild window it gives you a break down of where the influence came from.
so to recap:
retaking ascalon city meta, “giant boss” event, is directly over an area of significance to asclonian history, not commonly farmed.the only thing I’m not sure about is the chest that spawns
Are you sure there is a chest? I remember doing that event but I don’t remember but I don’t remember any chest but it was a long time ago.
Unlike RiotGames, ArenaNet did not start small with GW2 and thus cannot have the same level of community-initimacy that many of us have grown used to over there.
GW2 has a big following from GW1 and thus ANet will forever be forced to respond sparingly or have internal debacles occur from staff being too outspoken or other tiresome technicalities.

And of course, there’s still the issue of developers needing to keep ideas under wraps because gamers, as a consumer-mass, are incapable understanding the process of development.
Any idea put forth produces expectations, expectations that, if not met, some individuals will use as catalyst for causing uproars of rageful nonsense.
Example:
Let’s say Jeffrey Vaughn talks about “Prototype B” and gets some people excited, while openly explaining that it’s just a prototype that could be scrapped within a week. Then a few monthes later, people ask and he says they’re doing “Prototype J” now.
Without fail, loads of players will start whining that they liked Prototype B and that they think “J” sucks, despite Jeffrey having stated it could get scrapped. Most individual gamers don’t care about “the process”, they only care about what they like and some will freak out if they don’t get the features they like – And willingly drag a portion of the community into a —-storm with them.
Didn’t this happen with Skyrim? Might have been a different game. Devs showed off a bunch of random stuff they tossed together in a day/over a weekend. People complained about not getting all the stuff because it’s OBVIOUSLY easy if they can do that in so short a time but didn’t bother to consider how functional things were.
I suppose “this is why we can’t have nice things” would be appropriate.
In GW1, the equivalent of the BLTC costumes would be the hats that were given out at event finales. But if you played the game, you would know they were a “be there and get it or miss out forever” thing until GW2 came out. At that point, they didn’t have the designers or programmers to make new festive items anymore, so they’re reusing old ones.
So that’s not a very good comparison…
That just means whoever wants them will have to wait 6 or 7 years. :P
On the other hand the store in GW1 was more or less bolted on rather than designed to be there from the beginning.
Wasn’t Vexa’s Lab added AFTER the initial query to Linsey?
I really can’t give out any hints or information, especially since anything I say is going to be intensely analyzed. So I’m going to play it safe and not comment on the size of the boss, the chest, or the rarity of the boss. I will confirm that I looked in the game data and traced the item to its loot table to the chest that uses the loot table to the event that spawns the chest to make sure everything is set up. I can also confirm that it has a very low drop rate, so running the event 5 times or 10 times proves nothing.

Use of the singular form of event just means that that is only one specific event for this. The event can still be part of a chain.
Seen this effect in several places in the world now. Content is balanced towards several players being involved, which is not a problem when the content is new. After a while though, folks gravitate away from it, making soloing it the only option most of the time. And in this case (vet karka), soloing is just right off the table. There are champions who are easier to handle.
They need to think about the design of these encounters after the initial shine has warn off and it’s mostly individual players who will be dealing with them. As it stands now, I haven’t seen anyone even go near those vet karkas, let alone take a stab at completing events where they are involved. I tried it once. Now I avoid them completely.
It’s the only place for Passion Flowers but it would be more efficient somewhere else and let someone else deal with them.
I don’t remember any unique skins from Southsun drops either. At least in the other areas you have racially themed drops.
The vets are not worth the effort. The last two times I’ve bothered, one dropped either a junk or blue and the other dropped nothing. In the time it took to deal with it I could have killed 3 vets somewhere else or a bunch of other normal mobs.
AFAIK none of them drop any unique skins either.
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
You’ve put everything into Invisible Bags. The purpose of the bags is to make it so items in them do not show up for selling on the TP or vendors.
So basically everything is working as intended.
Are you putting the Fanatic’s Mantle on the left side and the item with the stats on the right? It isn’t supposed to require that but there is a bug which seems to require that for some items.
This should be in a bug section and you should include the items involved. If the Fanatic’s Mantle was previously transmuted then you should also include the base item for that as well or just list the stats if you don’t remember the item.
make ALL of the legendaries. meme reference
That is my other plan(mostly because of the achievement and being a completionist) but I still have too much sanity to start. :P
