Probably the same issue as Signet of Air, some people mentioned that when it was in the second(?) slot you have to use it at least once for it to start working.
I’m shocked at how many people can’t dodge. It’s so ingrained in me now that I don’t even have to worry about this achievement. I usually get it just by running past mobs. Then again, I’ve always been the type to dodge at the last moment in order to maximize damage and minimize the chances of landing in an even bigger mess.
The issue is not how hard or easy it is to do. Having these daily achievements alters the way people play and not necessarily for the better. That was probably not ANet’s intention. In theory Dodger and Combo Killer were “freebies” you can randomly get these done in normal course of playing. In practice many people are going to be “doing their daily” to ensure that it gets done in a timely matter which will force a certain play style making things less enjoyable.
Anet has already made a statement on this issue.
can you link that please, I want to read it.
I wish the way you could spy on your friend that was in your party. If you played GW1 the way it was set up to operate is the way I wish it worked in GW2.
That was interesting but it’s not really related to what OP was asking. This is mainly for WvW. IIRC what they plan to do is something like a respawn timer.
I can’t tell for sure if my signets are working properly. At the very least there is text problem on my Elementalist. For signet of air the passive effect states 25% swiftness but if you arrow over the effect icon it says that there is a 10% swiftness boost. By removing the signet I can tell that I am getting a Swiftness boost from the signet but I can’t tell if it’s 10% or 25%. And if it is 10% is it a glitch or did they rebalance the skill and didn’t fix the description.
Fairly certain it’s just a error in the tooltip. Checked by seeing how far my thief runs with Signet of Shadows and how far my ele runs with Signet of Air from the same starting point. The distance was more of less the same.
All the lv50 crafted Rare weapons from Weaponsmith/Artificer/Huntsman have the generic icon. They are the ones with Dredge in the name.
Yeah, my idea of fun doesn’t include camping Nageling for the next 3 years in order to complete the giant slayer. lol
I seriously hope in an expansion or something that someone will consider adding non-champion giants in greater numbers for this.
You can camp Toxal Bog for 25 to 50 hours. :p
Idea!: New achievement – “Kill 1000 Giants with a Focus, Warhorn or Shield”. 5 tiers and on completion you get the title “Masochist” or maybe “Misanthropist” because you hate people in general but especially yourself for putting you through all that.
Did you turn on any filters on a different character in the crafting interface? The settings are actually global across all characters. They reset upon closing the client.
i did daily vets entirely in wvw. easiest part ever.
Couldn’t possibly have been as easy as how I did it.
The “veteran” I fought was 6 levels below me and respawns in about 30 seconds.
Linsey, can you please pass my compliments onto whoever designed the new icon for Mystic Claymore, it looks great – much more like the actual weapon. Also opening a dragon chest and just getting blues/2 greens last night wasn’t so bad with all the new icons and art, looks really good.
Just to confirm, what is and isn’t supposed to have the generic icon? Are all ‘somewhat named’ items supposed to have their own unique icon? I’d like to confirm that before making a list.
I would say anything that doesn’t look like what you see when you preview the item should be on the list.
In theory you should be able find the correct piece of gear in your inventory without having to hover over everything assuming you took the effort to get unique skins for each item you are using.
I haven’t but now looks like a pretty good time to do that if you are going to do it. An alternative to doing that is doing map completion for the lv1-15 maps. Doing so gives either 40 of the crafting materials or 20 cooking ingredients.
One possible solution could be to have the option to pick up defeated players in combat – maybe as a second pressing of F after you start reviving. This would allow one player to pick up another player, carry them to a safe location, and then put them back down and resume reviving.
I would like to see this even if it is just to see their solution to an asura carrying a norn. :p
I know this change is to encourage a better play style with teamwork which is great, but it also encourages the sale of res orb or as I call it, cheating pay to win tactic. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the next couple of months.
Have you ever USED one of those? The orbs are pretty awful, only a tiny bit better than the killstreak booster. I’ve used a couple since I got them from the black lion chests/PS reward. The speed is about the same as someone trying to res you while in combat but after you are ressed there is a debuff that makes you move very slowly(seems similar to when you are encumbered) and you have 1 HP.

Nodes move around after updates …
No laurels for monthly until February.
The explanation ended up in some other thread. Basically it means it will no longer waste the sigil’s effect(and put it on cooldown) if you just swing at the air or try to attack from out of range but all those other things listed will still count.
Actually it can be gear related in a way. My downleveled lv25 ele was basically out damaging my downleveled lv80 warrior. The reason is fairly simple. My ele had nothing but Power and Precision while my warrior had things spread into vitality, toughness and healing as well. So while you might have best for the level there is still the issue of which stats you have for those pieces.
Anyone who put a solid degree of thought behind this could have told the devs that it was a bad idea. All they had to do was start a thread in this forum saying “hey, we’re thinking about these dailies, what do you think?” and bam, you’ve just created dialogue and completely avoided this headache.
I would actually prefer if they didn’t do that. Seen too many stupid suggestions in the suggestions section. I WOULD like the designers to be aware of the different ways ALL the various professions are played and how content would impact them across the board.
They may have improved communication (in that they actually visit the forums now) but we’re still a loooong way from a legitimate dialogue between devs and players, it seems. And GW2 doesn’t have much longer left to build that dialogue.
I don’t see it that way but then I’ve spent around 7 years playing GW1 without any sort of communications.
This might not be a bug but Taiga Fierceblade and Zalvax Brokenclaw are two karma vendors in Diessa Plateau who are selling exactly the same thing. I don’t remember seeing this in the rest of the game so this seems slightly off.
Why is everyone freaking out about this update? All I see on this forum are posts like “game going in complete wrong direction” and garbage like that….
This game is 5 months old…5 months. Please just give it some time
Well in about 30 minutes of doing the Combo Killer daily several seemingly obvious issues came to mind. Those issues didn’t even have anything to do with that achievement’s buggy nature. Would have been nice if the designer had spent at least that much time thinking about it.
I will drop the mandatory statement here then “Learn to play your character properly”
Dungeons will just become a little harder, after the nerf on Alpha’s hp I expect the fight to be much MUCH easier. This also gives people less incentive to skip mobs due to risking people dying randomly.
Great change imo
Impact on skipping stuff would be minimal. If someone dies they’ll just have to wait a bit longer before they can res. Unless you are referring to groups that are going to try to skip the whole dungeon.
the Fiery Dragon Sword HoM skin icon is different to the FDS icon when applied to a weapon, it looks like a shrunk render than the stylized skin icon.
That was fixed last patch, at least for me. The “shrunk” version is actually the GW1 icon for the FDS.
The Geomancy and Hydromancy Sigils have a 9s CD listed, the others don’t have it listed but have the same 9s according to wiki. What is not listed anywhere is that all sigils with a CD share the same timer which means the Fast Hands traits and Rune of the Warrior are pretty much useless as far as taking advantage of faster weapon swap is concerned.
Good idea. I like it.
However, from a lore perspective, you do realize that the Zaishen are primarily isolated, right? Could still work, though.
I hate that suggestions like this will be placed into that god-awful suggestion forum and buried within 30mins…
Not so sure about that. There are a bunch of Zaishen Engineers in LA.
As for the suggestion itself. No thanks, last thing I want is another 3 bank slots wasted on tokens.
So make better AI and add auto loot?
Story steps where this should happen should be QC’ed extensively, as all of the story steps should have been. Alternatively add a semi defiant that only makes them immune to being knocked off cliffs.
Jefferey said it all. Make better AI, how would you like to approach making an Ai that can forsee knockbacks and avoid them? What if multiple people with knockbacks were fighting the enemy? It is too easy to exploit and not reasonable to “make better”.
10 stacks of Defiant on every enemy. :P
About Detha in path2: why don’t guys take 5 more minutes to kill the gravelings and oozes on the way to the room?
They drop at least 10 silver (14 with omnomberry bar), it gives you a danger-free road to come back if somebody dies and it prevents you to loose 5 or more minutes to have her die if she bugs out.
Fairly sure you are wrong about the 10s. 5s maybe.
As for the other reasons. At least for me I’ve never seen anything definitive about the cause. Some people say if the event triggers while she is in combat, some say if she dies too many times between the spikes and the canons(I might be confusing this with another dungeon path), and some have said if she fights that group at all. Given those possibilities the safest option is to completely avoid everything between the spikes and canon.
Windy Cave does not count as a puzzle. It is an Exploration Achievement not a Puzzle Achievement.
The trigger location for the credit for some puzzles can be very unexpected. You might have to run around near the entrance to trigger it or there might actually be multiple routes to start and only one counts.
It probably would have been less problematic if the monthly actually required finishing the puzzle. That way they could have just put the trigger location next to the chest.
Having done world completion twice I am going to have to disagree. Some points can be a bit tricky to get to if you don’t fully explore every nook and cranny.
You have also left out the name of the map and the name of the area or the name of the heart so it’s impossible to know where you are referring to.
Doesn’t seem like a big deal. There are plenty of http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Elixir_of_Heroes that are pretty much infinite as well and they are lying around all over Tyria.
I have leggings i made and used a rune on it and now it wont let me send the leggings to the friend I was going to send it to.
Applying upgrades make then Account Bound.
Should i submit ticket or wait for issue to be resolved since its know problem?
That sort of thing typically(always have for me) resolves itself on it’s own. Basically the upgrades are still building by the client is having trouble connecting to the guild server.
There is a thread for this https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Inventory-Icon-bug-list
Also not all, at least the sword and pistol were updated last patch.
If you had learned the recipe, an “Already learned” warning would appear in the recipe itself.
You can learn any recipe regardless of the required profession level of the crafted item or the required discipline level of the crafting recipe. So this can only be a bug.
Not quite. I was thinking the same thing you are a few months ago regarding certain cooking recipes with similar level requirements. I though maybe this is leftover from some system they were going to have in place but haven’t completely removed yet. However the item in question from OP is newly created content. I think that came in at around Lost Shore?
For this recipe you DO need to be lv80 to learn it otherwise the game gives this misleading message. I ran into this with cooking for the Ascalonian Herb and some stew from Brisban.
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
You do realize that doing that sort of thing would result in every material you are farming to drop right? Remember when they had to add in special MF recipes to get rid of extra crafting materials because there were so many around that they became worthless? Do you think they would want a repeat?
There is no item, interacting with the scabbard sets a virtual flag that allows completion of the quest. We had too many issues with the scabbard being dropped, lost, or deleted, so removed the actual item.
Regardless of the reason, it’s a good thing you guys went this route. My GW1 ranger has been carrying a certain boss’s head around for the pass 2 or 3 years …
I doubt the dredge have been keeping great records about dwarven achievements.
occurs to me you ahve no idea how complex you can make a bot, would not be a problem to make a bot farm and area got x minutes (x being just below eht amount of time needed to hit DR) then have the pot use a waypoint to another area and then do it again there, wp to new area farm there etc etc, would take a little work on the bot developers to get figure out the most efficient time needed and how many places they need to visit before it can restart from beginning, but in a few weeks they do it, and be not affected at all, so would be a LOT of coding for a rather temporary gain
or just switch between different characters parked at different spots?
I wish I had found this topic earlier… I spent 20 minutes getting killed and respawning and repairing my armor to try and get through that stupid door… SUCH a waste of time and time and money….
O_o
Bugs should always be fixed but do you really need cabbages that badly?
How long ago did you transfer? There is something like a 1 or 2 week delay before you can get the bonuses after a transfer.
in caledon forest, i cannot defeat Meztli in a crab battle (solo).. he uses block on cd and gains regen, which heals all the damage i can put on him in the time between blocks. event isnt tagged as group.
I’ve done each of the bosses solo at least a couple of time.
The moa and drake are relatively easy, but the crab and jellyfish can be tricky. It will only get regen if you do not attack it while it blocks. So the trick is saving your evades and blocks to avoid its attacks, and spam 1 and 2 while it’s blocking.
Since you become allied to the crab if defeated, you can’t lose, so you can keep trying again and again until you get the knack of it.
“tricky” is not something i expect or want from really low level open world content… i dont have the attention span for it while on an alt, and would be frustrated with it if it was my first character.
thanks for the tips though. i was a bit more worried about being 2 or 3 shot by the silly thing (and avoiding its damage with a hotbar ive never used) than i was worried about figuring out how to actually damage it and keep it from regening.
Well if you didn’t learn how to do it the first time around then alt or not is irrelevant.
Chocolate seems okay. Oranges seem rarer(my collections tab seems to disagree, got around the same number of each). I agree with Aye about the dredges, mostly because of the higher mob density for dredges but dredges also tends to be more annoying to fight.
Not sure which tier oranges fall under but a bag that is a better match for the oranges’ tier would probably yield more oranges. See http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Container#Bags_of_Crafting_Materials_by_Tier
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
Any sort of update will reset all events.
mmm people are amazing. On one thread they complain about things being too expensive and then in another thread they’ll complain about the price of items falling. I guess it’s only bad if it is inconvenient for them.
For the cause I suspect it is a race condition in the code. It’s been a while but I am fairly certain that when it happened to me it I was in the middle of being knocked down. There is probably a bad interaction between the timer for when you get hit with a CC and the timer for manual weapon swap.
I never know whether to laugh or cry when I see a level 80 character with 500 AP join a party for AC story, stay completely silent (i.e., don’t mention that he’s never been there before) and then commit serial suicide by running into every group of mobs he sees, instead of asking what he should do or waiting to see how the level 30 guys (often playing on their 5th alt, or at least doing their Nth run) approach things.
I don’t see that as a problem. It sounds like a great way to learn what sort of things the enemies in that dungeon can do to you. Some people like to figure things out on their own.
People actually check Achievement Points? That seems extremely silly. I have 4,481 but how good do you think I am at running dungeons?
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
According to various dev posts the star is only visible by allies, on both the player and clones. That part is actually useful since your allies will know not to waste any sort of support skills on the clones or one of the more annoying scenarios, try to res a clone.
in caledon forest, i cannot defeat Meztli in a crab battle (solo).. he uses block on cd and gains regen, which heals all the damage i can put on him in the time between blocks. event isnt tagged as group.
That one is a bit different. Aren’t you fighting it after transforming into a crab?
I get that some encounters are being reworked to be more difficult.
However, (not trying to sound cool or whatever word you want to put with it) but I find it fun when 4 other members of the group die and it is just me left alone vs the boss until they get back.
Not that this happens too often and sure sometimes I end up dying myself but its sort of an accomplishment to be able to hold the boss off from regening back to full health so the group doesn’t have to start completely over.
Now I will either have to solo the boss, or die so that the rest of the group can join again. Which adds more chances of failure, more chances that I may have to die so the rest of the group can get back up.
Pretty lame update.
Or you could just walk out of combat …
As far as the real life market manipulations go…
In real life,
we’re not all forced to trade through the same market device like TP
distance is a factor because of shipping fees (in TP, it is not. This distance factor helps create multiple markets)
cartels and monopolies are illegalSo while there is some manipulation in real life, a handful of people can’t control a market nearly as easily thanks to laws.
So … are there any Black Lion Company NPCs I can threaten/bribe for better deals on the Trading Post?
So more than 3 months have passed since the first report.. And yet the bug is still present in the game.
And since this is apparently the rune doing all the hard work.. Don’t the hounds have a despawn timer? Since the one I was fighting didn’t seem to disappear at all. Not even when the enemy player killed me and got out of combat.
They do, not sure what the cooldown is and when it starts. I linked to the the other thread more for amusement than anything else. The bug in that thread is that you can have an unlimited number of hounds at the same time. Slightly different issue.
