The event has just started up in the last 2 minutes, the 2 hour timing seems way off as Ive been tabbing in and out every couple minutes whilst browsing the forums.
Seems to be fixed now though, ill check again in the next 2 hours!
The timer is going to be all sorts of wrong due to all the new builds. Each new build = server reset.
Dungeons I guess …
I have a friend who has at least 2 cultural set, all bank tabs, 2 quaggan backpacks.
When I say dungeons I don’t mean CoF p1 either! I rarely see him in there. He plays less than I do but I don’t have nearly that much, on the other hand he plays his lv80 a lot more than I do. I am typically leveling my low level characters.
That last part is pretty important. I play my low level and get a rare. It sells for 4s. Play a lv80 and get a rare it sells for 30+s. Below a certain level and you don’t get have a chance of getting exotics.
So did they load a new set of dailies to choose from which does not include the Jump Puzzle, which was available when the patch first went live?
Yes, each day still get a new set.
What is the aim of this? If it’s for flipping stuff I would add a couple of other features.
Prophecies + Eye of the North is all you need for 30 points but getting all of them makes it easier. I wouldn’t recommended getting all of them but on the other hand I don’t have anything against people giving ANet more money.
Khisanth, not to be rude, but are you sure? Can you please break it down to show that’ll be enough? I’m ticking on my fingers and without some immensely focused building charted out ahead of time I don’t think it can be done.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide_to_earning_Hall_of_Monuments_rewards#Limited_campaigns
I would go for something like
http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=details&details=AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA&todo=AQ9BAAAwnnAwzBAQAhEEA8AAA/fAAAAABAAIA
This is assuming you are going to have some help. I would not bother trying to get to 30 otherwise. The PvP title(Eternal Zaishen Suppporter) can be obtained without any actual PvPing. It can also be replaced by 3 titles from consumables.
I definitely would NOT try to get Vabbian set. Just checking prices right now that comes out to 214 platinums or 214 gold in GW2. Getting gold in GW1 isn’t any easier than GW2 unless you plan on farming stuff and even then it is still more time consuming since you have to stand in town waiting for buyers.
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
Still bugged to this day, 1 pattern shows up but nothing happens when i put tears on platforms, guess ill have to wait for server restart to complete this, Quite a shame as this is fun enough, fix it pls.
Well there is definitely going to be a server reset today unless something really horrible happens. :P
Apparently there is an issue where the patterns do not change. You could try checking the wiki for all the patterns and trying all of them.
If I wanted ascended items I would be doing fractals. What other method is there for getting the tonic/minis?
Prophecies + Eye of the North is all you need for 30 points but getting all of them makes it easier. I wouldn’t recommended getting all of them but on the other hand I don’t have anything against people giving ANet more money.
It’s pretty easy to tell for most mobs unless you never move. They have to face you to attack, same restriction as player attacks. If you move and they don’t turn with you then they are not targetting you. Of course this can be very difficult if you happen to be fighting an ooze.
Who is being targeted is also mostly irrelevant a majority of the time since most melee attacks will hit whoever is within the arc of the swing anyway. It doesn’t matter if you are targeted or not. For ranged you can tell from the path of the projectile but you shouldn’t be standing too close or in a line with someone else anyway. If you are standing in front of someone you will get hit by any projectiles meant for the person behind you.
30 point? With help, 1 month. I know someone who got GW1 a month before GW2’s release and got to 30 just a bit after release.
However, several of us had spare minis, crafting materials and gold. Having someone with fully equipped heroes helps a lot with getting through all the missions, especially the hard mode versions.
It is. I’ve been doing that for the last 78 levels.
Actually only 58 … haven’t upgraded in a while.
I sometimes have 90% crit on my thief.
Could be higher if I adjust things a bit.
The green color just means modified/effective/… It also means temporary. For a thief the most likely reason is having Signet of Agility which gives you +precision. It is temporary because you will lose that +precision if/when you activate the signet. You get it back once the skill recharage.
You would be more likely to get a response if you provided actual details. Things like
Guesting?
Server name?
Map?
List of events?
Approximate time when the events were done?
Are you getting any influence from dungeons?
It’s silly really out of the 4 lvl 80’s and 1 lvl 50-ish (Engi, Ele, Guardian, Ranger, Warrior) I find the Engi the most versatile and fun to use. I really have no idea why they are the least played if it is indeed true. Personally I would have thought necro would have been, after all who dosn’t like guns right!? O.O
From discussions in game I found most people who don’t play Engi either doesn’t like the ranged-only limit, doesn’t like kits or doesn’t like the playstyle of steampunkish gunner as they prefer more classic fantasy archetypes.
I believe Engi would have been liked a lot more as an Alchemist instead.
More emphasis on alchemical potions etc and less on guns.
They are not range only! Equip a bomb kit.
exploits@arena.net
That doesn’t sound like a huge issue though. You can do that anyway by partying with someone on another server where it is uncontested.
By the way, if anyone is wishing to get all of the dyes, the cheapest way to do so is to simply purchase them all on the trading post (set your own prices, do not buy a dye outright). I spent about 50-ish gold a week ago to acquire ALL of the dyes in the game. The only expensive ones are Midnight Ice, Midnight Fire, Abyss, and Celestial. Most of the others are inexpensive.
You can save a lot of money if you do this instead of craft the dyes yourself or play roulette with unidentified dyes.
Hmm 450 gold … nah.
I do this for common dyes.
Never saw a point to crafting dyes.
White and Black dyes in Aion were also very rare/expensive. Must be an mmo thing heh
… or Guild Wars 1, I am pretty sure white wasn’t even an option in GW1 at launch.
If you think GW2 dungeons can be done with heroes then you haven’t really thought this through.
Lets start with AC, any path. Nothing fancy, just walk up to the top of the stairs before the spider queen without getting hit by any traps. How well do you think the heroes would handle this?
Okay you figured out how to do that now lets head over to Kholer. Just as heroes in GW1 were not perfect at interrupts, they won’t be perfect at dodging either. They are going to be pulled X% of the time. They’ll have to be programmed to know that they have to try to get away as soon as they are pulled.
Lets assume you’ve made it through. Now for path 1, so time for some more burrows! I think it’s very doubtful that an AI will be able to keep Hodgins alive you’re going to have to do that part. Now you are kiting/killings/dodging scavengers all while trying to blindly control the movement of the heroes to destroy the burrows.
Path 2, assuming the trap sequence can be done with just by setting off two traps then it should not be a problem.
Path 3 should be fine as well.
CM.
Path 1 and 3 are probably okay with heroes.
Path 2 gate bombing sequence … uh good luck with that.
CM path 2 highlights one of the biggest obstacles for heroes. Other places with similar issues are CoF p2, the laser grid in CoE, Arah p4 both for the orbs to open the doors and for the fight with Simin.
One option to solve that is remove all content like that from dungeons but that would take away a lot of things from dungeon designers. Some that are already in game and some we haven’t even seen yet.
Well they might need something for dungeons because at the moment finding a group for them, especially story mode is a massive pain in the rear. Problem is I don’t know that AI would work to well with this sort of combat or the traps.
The problem there is the lack of any reason to redo on ANY character other than to help someone out. Give people a good reason to redo story mode and that problem goes away. You’ve already seen the story, it takes just as long as explorable AND you are basically guaranteed less rewards. For fun? Are all story modes more fun than explorable? Opinions will differ there.
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
Ok cool. Me and my wife just hit 50 yesterday and we have only completed AC and CM story modes. Might think about doing FOTM soon.
50 should be fine. Did it with a bunch of 30s and possibly a 20something a while back. Knowing about each fractal’s various gimmick makes a much bigger difference.
It was true. They were looking into the idea of having GW2 on consoles, but that’s all it was.
NCSoft originally said during a conference call that it would be out on consoles sometime after the PC release. ArenaNet later clarified it was just an idea. The project has since been cancelled.
On the other hand both the PS4 and xbox are going to be PC hardware anyway so porting should be easier so they might reconsider. Their specs should be high enough to run GW2 without any problem.
Edit: actually biggest issue is $$$ and not for developement. Sony and Microsoft would probably ask for a cut of the money from selling gems.
So if you are up-leveled in FOTM, what is the lowest supported level? I assume you cant be a level 1 and start FOTM right away…
Getting out of the starting instance without leveling to level 2 is actually a bit of a challenge. :p
A reasonable starting level would be 30, same as the recommended level for the lowest level dungeon story mode.
Announcing a few days in advance would increase gem prices and therefore it’d cost more anyway.
That is irrelevant to the people they are targeting for the sales. They are for people buying gems with real money. Sure they also benefit people who buy gems with gold but only those who plan ahead.
That is pretty much the worst part of EVERY mmo. The group of vocal people that all they do is bash the game. It’s happened in every mmo. They make mountains out of mole hills and everyone else believes them and listens with religious fervor.
The worst part of MMO’s is the people, but it can also be the best part of it.
The thing most developers don’t realize is you can never actually read the forums for the game you make. You get a false idea about what is broken and what works.
Form your own opinion, and stay away from the forums. That pretty much works with everyone.
Luckily ANet is at least aware of that problem.
So they collect data and do stuff based on that. Content everyone is doing isn’t necessarily good but content nobody is doing is probably bad.
Also … http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Vocal_Minority
Back to the topic.
Hardcore people aren’t this game’s worst enemy.
Casual people aren’t this game’s worst enemy either.
Those labels are useless at describing the full range of players. At best they describe the extremists.
The game’s worst enemies are the people who complain about every little thing without ever considering the reasons for why things are done that way. If they don’t like it then it must be bad.
Nope. Have you looked at the minimum spec required for doing this sort of thing? Alternatively just play with the options window opened and make sure vsync is off and look at the average FPS you are getting. Will you be okay with it if it drops by half(probably more)? If you are used to a certain FPS then dropping below a certain threshold can make things feel sluggish.
Then there is memory usage. GW2 usually uses around 1.1G for me. Does your system have that much to spare?
For CPU you are probably looking at a minimum of a quad core.
Hmm … there is a free trial. That is probably simplest.
Then there are elementalists.
Use water attunement -> heal teammates -> Remove conditions -> Save teammates.
Water Elementalists feels too much like a healer.
Well there is an obvious problem with that. You have AT LEAST 15 other skills, why aren’t you using any of them?
WASD – forward/left/back/right
Q – heal
ZXCE – F1-4
1 – bound to thumb button on mouse
7 – bound to pinky button on mouse
shift+mmb – 2nd utility
shift+1 – 3rd utility
ctrl+1 – skill 4
alt+1 – skill 5
alt+e – elite
mmb – dodge
ctrl+mmb – weapon swap
naturally extending the middle/index fingers will end up on 2/3 but this depends on your hand size and keyboard
1st utility skill is usually the one for those ‘oh sh—-!’ moments
3rd utility is usually the one that is going to get used more often
F1-3 is usually activated by pinky/ring/index finger but they are activated with the thumb when strafing left
F4 is index finger and middle when strafing right
The problem with using something like R or double tap is they both have variable amount time because you have to move your finger to get to them. That makes it harder to time your dodges consistently.
What FPS is good depends on you. Do you feel like the lower FPS is negatively affecting how well you are playing? If it IS negatively affecting how well you play, do you care? It is fine not to if you are still enjoying the experience.
I usually play at around 50-60 but I generally don’t notice anything unless it dips low enough that turning the camera feels sluggish which is usually in the 20s.
It DOES bother me when I see bots that people laugh and chat about for days in global and you can still study their activities 2 weeks later.
On the one hand that looks bad, on the other hand it might be worth leaving them like that to monitor their behavior patterns so you can improve your bot detection tools.
Depends on exactly what you mean.
If someone has 2 computers and runs GW2 on each, plays a bit on computer A then a bit on B or they have two instances of GW2 running and alt+tab between them then it is completely fine.
If on the other hand they have something setup so that if they did something on A it causes the exact same action to be mirrored on B then it would be against the rules.
Did it a few hours ago(p2). Didn’t seem any different from before the patch. As far as I know the only changes to it is that in phase 1 it will prioritize players for grubs before clones/illusions/pets/NPCs and the indirect change to some traits that used to allowed them to dodge out of the bubble without any effort.
As for getting one-shotted, are you playing with the same party composition?
This bug has actually be around for a long time. There is a much larger thread for this.
Oh.. Who said achievement points are a measure of skill? You could get that by killing skritt all day, every day.. Not that people do that but you get the point I am trying to make:P
Skritt slayer … if you meant killing the white rats for weapon master then that is a different thing. :P
Have you discovered the Intricate ____ Jewels? Silver Filigree + ____ Lump
Should be at http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Guild+Wars+2+reset&iso=20130224T00 same time as dailies and other dungeons
http://www.gw2db.com/items/70967-recipe-s-spicy-pumpkin-cookie
You are going to need to wait until next Halloween.
I would just buy another slot if I need it …
I did delete my lv20(max level there) mesmer in GW1 to change hair style but that was because it was a year before they added the option to change that without deleting.
1) It does have very few(generally 1 …) waypoints and it is annoying but that is already getting addressed by the devs.
2) It’s the same reward as every other dungeon. Overall TA isn’t anymore difficult than any other dungeon. The difficulty I am referring to here is when it is done “normally” meaning no skipping which is probably what the designer intended. If you are going to skip things then TA is definitely going to more difficult than others and mistakes are more punishing. It is also more annoying than most other dungeon and contains one of the most uninteresting final boss fights.
You are also forgetting the other factors.
CoF, HotW, CoE, Arah tokens can be used to buy lv70+ rares which means they can be salvaged into ectos. With ectos at around 30s and 60+ tokens per daily you can potentially double to quadruple your returns.
Then there are the stats. From TA you can get Magi, Rabid and Rampager. Magi would be easier to get from AC and Rampager can be obtained from AC, CM, CoF, CoE as well as being crafted.
That leaves Rabid and TA is probably the best option for that.
There is also the exotic trinket recipes but the drop rate is low and the stats are overshadowed by the ascended equivalent.
The skin is the only thing that requires TA to get.
It is less about hate and more about path of least resistance and best return on time investment.
There are(or were) two separate DR systems. One was for back to back runs and the other triggers if you finish more than X runs in Y time period.
The heavy armor from TA is already the shiniest of the three. I thought you were being sarcastic but your other posts imply otherwise …
It will also depend on your choice of dyes. Some dyes are shinier than others.
Although this is quite an old post I just combined some rings and earrings into the Mystic Forge and I got a darksteel earing. I’m a level 315 jeweler. Anyway, I’m quite happy because its worth close to 10 gold.
somehow i doubt that and it is certainly NOT 10g worth since it ahve the EXACT same stats and lvl req as a rare “ruby platinum earring” (whihc even then comes with a ruby jewel inserted so you don’t have to go and spend that if you find with having same stat combo in the upgrade slot, which is only about 60s or so on TP
Sometimes people pay stupid prices for whatever reason. I’ve seen the same thing with ’Berserker’s Ring’ vs the equivalent crafted ring.
Let’s not decide for other players what is best for them… just point out the options and let them play how they wish.
Indeed . . . though I just was putting that post there to caution away from throwing all money into Gems prematurely
Having lots of bag space is awesome. Having no money and lots of bag space isn’t as awesome.
To the OP, what server are you on? I might be able to help you get started with some bigger bags when I go to upgrade my alts.
You can mail stuff cross server.
8 slot bags are very cheap on the Trading Post.
I found that after the first character none of the others really need a bag slot expansion.
20 slot starter
15 slot equipment
15 slot normal
15 slot craftsman’s
15 slot oiled
The above is enough space for clearing a map usually, along with visiting a merchant to sell junk whenever you run across one. Keep in mind you can always sell to karma NPCs and repair NPCs as well.
Shaman stats for condition/healing/toughness.
Shaman has Vitality as main stat with Healing Power and Condition Damage as minor
Apothecary has Healing Power as main stat with Toughtness and Condition Damage as minor
As for the whole healer thing … nothing wrong with specing into healing but if healing is the only thing you are doing then you are not contributing all that you can to the fight. I don’t even see how that is possible without standing around doing nothing.
Maybe ‘healer’ is just the wrong word for the job, too much baggage attached and it only describes a single aspect of the many things the character should be doing.
A small note: Crafting becomes more significantly profitable when you’re not buying your materials.
Does that take into account the money you could have gotten if you just sold the raw materials?
Butter drops were — for a long time — one of those “excessive drops” that ANet scaled back.
I have so much butter that I just vend any butter drops these days.
I hope by ‘vend’ you mean sell on TP since there is a huge price difference.
At lv26 a good place for butter would be Bar Curtis Ranch in Queensdale. Just north of it has plenty of bandits in a small area and then there is the events associated with the farm. Just be careful with what you aggro, 1v10 might be a bit of a challenge at lv26. :p
There is also the infinitely spawning bandits in Brisban Wildlands but that is probably not a great choice for lv26 to farm.
How many other dungeons have you done before that and in what time span?
And on the last hand, about skipping…I don’t believe I’ve ever been on a team that has defeated everything on the way. Some have kinda-cleared but there’ll be one room somewhere in there that is just a skip. It’s really a bad dungeon to d/c in but is usually the one I have connection problems with (same as you describe but it’s not an all-the-time thing).
Even if you killed everything in TA there is still a billion blossoms to deal with.
This would be nice.
Every single time I get the “Kill 5 Veterans” daily, I go do my 5 events and after killing 5 champions I say to myself “Well… Now to find some veterans to kill…”
It seems silly that tougher enemies won’t count towards this daily which seems to be designed as a “Kill something tough” that is designed for players of all skill (If it was “Kill 5 champions” then casual players or people whom don’t build for soloing champions easily would struggle, especially if they play at a time where events with champs in aren’t being done)
There are a bunch of champions where are soloable without building for it. The ones I have come across and remember are ooze and spider in metrica, oakheart in queensdale, Chief Otyugh in Fields of Ruin, ogre beastmaster and ogre chieftain in blazeridge steppes.
They have also mentioned that with the addition of the ‘choose your daily’ system in the upcoming match they are okay with having some items that might be impossible for some people. Kill 5 champions could be one of those. If they add that then having champions count as veterans doesn’t make as much sense.
I don’t think they’ve ever meant to have all daily items to be equal in difficulty. One of the current ones is talk to a laurel vendor, the only thing they could add that would be easier is ‘log into the game’.
In case you are not aware, you can hover your mouse over the name of a zone in the map screen to get a summary of each map without having to jump to each map.
