[Suggestion] Focus on Solo-play Experience

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I play alone, I just use LFG tool and never get a problem to get a map with people.

If I understand right, you want some quests that you can do solo. But hearts in core tyria are already what you looking for.

HoT maps are high level and endgame content. I never seen a MMO where end-game content is expected to be soloable. You play solo at the beginning then you learn to play with people. It’s exactly what is guild wars 2 imo.

The best idea is just to lock these kind of items from mystic forge and destroy function.

salvage these items would be the only thing you can do.

EDIT: I think you get bad support. Support actually can try to get back your item but it’s just a one-time backup.

In this case, since it’s just one item, they could just get him a new one and not have to worry about account restoration.

I mean, he can do it just once.

DS:Noxious Pods vs Others

So here are my feedbacks to balance this out.
- Make dust, spark, oil drop 100% in the pods.
- Maybe a way to exchange Crystalline Ore with dust, spark, oil.

Or this one will be interesting.
- Remove dust, spark, oil drop. Add one new item and make it exchangable 1:1 with others.

TL;DR
Doing DS is inefficient for getting spark, oil, dust.

If you doing that, all maps other than DS will be empty and no one will want to do them. DS is already full of people, and this idea seems really bad. If you want others items just go on others maps instead of DS.

Matter of taste but… it’s ugly. Too much aura = fail imo.

On topic, I don’t think it’s worth 10 000 golds. It’s just because the event is not done often and the item is new. 10 000 golds is definitely too much.

Personal Opinion of HoT

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Khyan.7039

Khyan.7039

I’m not sure people actually understand that until HoT , there were only 4 maps for level 80’s. That means for the life of the game most people have been running in max gear but downleveled to low level maps which although is scaled better than the 1 shot of other games in lower level areas we have still been doing underlevel content with max gear. HoT finally brought us lvl 80 appropriate content and all the carebears of the game can’t stand it cause they can’t “GW2 and chill”. What did you people want in lvl 80 maps more lvl 52 mobs you can 2-3 shot without looking? There are a great many things wrong with the game in all areas but Anet actually did get the difficulty of the new lvl 80 maps right. Go back to Sparkfly Fen and brainlessly kill Teq with his lvl 52 add ons , go back to Queensdale for your glorious champ train on auto attack, heck go back to any of the 29 maps that are not lvl 80 areas and continue to GW2 and chill in your max gear thinking you are good at the game and for the love of god leave the 8 lvl 80 maps alone so that those who actually want to play level/gear appropriate content can. Orr was nerfed to difficulty complaints, Silverwastes mob difficulty has been nerfed and they have nerfed most of the HoT mobs at this point too so give them another month and HoT maps should be Sesame Street easy for for you all too

The HoT nerf maps wasn’t really a nerf but a fix. I don’t think HoT maps will be nerfed because this is not needed. People that complains are just terribly bad and just don’t want to learn mechanics/maps.

My first time in HoT was “hard” because I didn’t understand the environment. I was like : Wtf what are these maps, not even funny. But after three weeks in HoT maps, all things are smooth and easiest because I know when dodge, how to deal with “that” kind of mob/boss/maps. And now I just LOVE HoT maps.

Oh and, Casual players is not a bad player or a player that need skills. It’s a player that can’t play a lot of hours during a day.
I don’t think HoT isn’t casual friendly unless you only play 30 minutes per day and can’t do any meta event which takes around 1 hour 30 for the longest one.

If you don’t like HoT difficulty I think it’s another issue and maybe it’s because you are bad but certainly not casual.

Thanks.

Khyan.7039

The Gift of maguuma mastery is a pain to get. You have to farm crystalline ingot and additionnaly, some golds for buy amalgamated gemstones.

I’ve seen a guy with 6 gifts of maguuma mastery. I don’t know how this is possible. It’s just insane. Maybe he just takes the opportunity when fulgurites wasn’t account bound.

Anyway, I’m done with the precursor, the gift of nevermore, and almost done with the gift of maguuma mastery. I still need the xp for mastery.

Personnaly I think the journey was “okay”. It’s still more original than others legendary journeys in my opinion.

Seller beware? Avoid the TP?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khyan.7039

Khyan.7039

After looking into this in depth i understand this issue as:

There is a kind of sliver that is currently useless in game because the recipes have not been added to make items from them.

The OP had 4 slivers sell for a total for 499g99s that they had placed on the broker as an investment in hopes they would sell when the recipes were eventually released.

These sold to a player who was in possession of gold acquired via real money transaction or disreputable means.

Anet, in an attempt to protect the market economy voids all sales when it has reasonable cause to believe rmt gold was used the completion of the exchange so the sale was voided and gold/items deleted.

Anet still allowed the seller to retain 30% of the proceeds to recover their losses and cleared the seller of any wrong doing.

According to the seller they actually still made a net profit from their original investment, but are upset they didn’t make the killing they originally thought they had and feel violated that Anet removed currency from their bank.

Something doesn’t jive here though. The seller was one of the few people speculating that a useless item was valuable enough to pay a 25g listing fee and leave it sitting for 8 months.

This is the kind of activity I would watch if I were an Anet rep.

(Following is my opinion and not facts as I have come to understand them)

It far more likely that the seller/OP had placed these items on the TP 8 months ago to circumvent the RMT for gold restrictions which started 10 months ago and im even willing to bet if we could see his historical listings we would see a trend reflecting this.

@OP I’m not afraid to put items on the TP because if i’m not doing anything wrong and I’m not LOOKING TO ATTRACT players who are then I have nothing to worry about.

BooHoo you lost a couple gold, I’m betting the hardest part of making your reddit post was getting your account down to 160 gold so you could look poor because i’m not buying you speculated 125gX4 on an item when the listing fee was 15% of your total bankroll.

I’m somewhat agree with this post.

Game gets too hard at 80

The only real answer to your dilemma is to either party up or learn the new mechanics of foes. Try changing your set up – if you’re going full berserker or otherwise glass cannon (all offensive stats), that doesn’t really work for HoT maps.

This is totally wrong. Some Meta event are failed when there are too much people without damage gear. (hello tangled depth meta)
With a full damage gear, mobs are killed fast, and since you don’t soloing HoT events most of the time, it’s totally pointless to get tougness gear or anything else than a full damage build. You’ll just be a burden to others.

You’re still missing the point that others are trying to make: before HoT was announced, the old legendaries were just as expensive (in total costs) as the new ones are today.

But before HoT you couldn’t craft any precursor, and now that you can craft them, you can compare their price with accuracy. And the new legendary are still more expensive to craft.

You can’t because they broke the crafting of old precursors into buckets to preserve the prices that they were at around that time. Crafting dusk isn’t the same as crafting rage. The prices of the older precursors were also determined by supply/demand and many of the two-handed weapons (e.g. colossus, dusk, dawn, legend) were very popular.

Even if it’s popular the craft is cheap than directly buy the thing to the tp.

https://www.gw2bltc.com/en/item/30704-Twilight

Twilight precursor crafting is still at 1200 golds. Seems pretty fair. It’s at 1771 golds at total crafting price and at 3200 golds at direct price. People are too lazy or just want it fast and don’t want to craft all the mats/do the collection, but in fact the cost is cheap.

They’re roughly 2K gold which is more or sell how much the old set cost.

Bifrost is actually 1945 golds to craft. (if you only craft and not directly buy craftable things to the tp)

Nevermore is 2638 golds to craft. (if you only craft and not directly buy craftable things to the tp)

Frostfang is 1512 golds to craft. (same)

Astralaria is 2628 golds to craft. (same)

They are definitely more expensive.

Bolded the part you missed.

Nevermore is 2,394G. Astralaria is 2,345G. HOPE is 2,337G.

Now compare that 2,394G to the average 4,000-5,000 Eternity, or Twilight or some other old legendaries. I agree its crazy expensive but the numbers speak for themselves. I personally never made any legendaries before and never intended to either before.

Eternity is not craftable, it’s a combination with Twilight and Sunrise in the mystic forge. The price is fair then, I think.

Twilight is actually 1771 golds to craft. The 3k is the direct TP price without crafting. But if you craft all the things just buying mats, it’s way cheaper.

I don’t change anything. My point was just vague and not developed enough. The cost of a single gift that is almost the same as the precursor price shouldn’t happen for the new legendary in this case.

It did previously. What is your basis as to why it should not?

You only need 2/3 of all golds from new legendary for doing the old one. The problem is the gift of maguuma mastery should stay with account bound collectable mats. Don’t know why they added Amalgamated Gemstone. This has nothing to do with maguuma, or I just don’t get it.

It does. Crystalline Ore is a currency from DS. Amalgamated Gemstones are used to refine it into ingots. Those ingots are an account bound mat.

Amalgamated gemstone are not. You can sell them.

Amalgamated gemstone should be a thing you get like other t7 mats in my opinion. If I remember right, Gift of mastery is a gift you get only by exploration, you don’t need to use any golds and you can’t sell anything.
The other issue with amalgamated gemstone are that you need it for precursor crafting. That’s why I don’t think the price will drop anytime soon.

I know legendary are expensive, but I don’t know if the new legendary are intented to be more expensive than the old one. Maybe it’s because those are new and a lot of players are working for them.

Ayrilana isn’t saying it IS 1k gold, they’re saying it USED TO be 1k gold. Basically saying that when old legendaries were new and shiny, they were crazy expensive too. Not that they’re cheap now, just not as expensive as the new ones.

Okay, but it’s pretty wrong in fact. Before, precursors was at 300-400 golds (only greatsword was at this price) Gift of fortune was way cheaper since the economy wasn’t the same.

You can’t really compare three years ago with what we have nowadays.

Source : http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/29180, the first price of the legend was 70 golds.

No. They were 1K back in 2014. Precursors were just as expensive.

You still don’t see my point.

Old legendary is : one weapon gift that cost ~400 golds. A gift of mastery that cost nothing. And the gift of fortune that cost 750 golds. Even if Gift of fortune would cost 1000 gold, it’s still nothing contrary to what we get with the new gifts. Anyway, if ever Gift of Fortune would cost 1000 golds, Mystic tribute will be at ~850 golds since you still need 200 from each t6 mats.

No. This was your point.

It’s ridiculous how Gift of Maguuma mastery is harder AND WAY more expensive than Mystic Tribute.

I thought Mystic Tribute was to be the most expensive gift since Gift of Fortune is the most expensive gift from old legendary.

Actually, Mystic Tribute cost ~656 golds while Gift of Maguuma mastery cost ~842 (and count all the effort to get it).

I think there are a problem when a simple gift cost almost the same price than a precursor…

You’re complaining about how now a single gift costs almost as much as a precursor when it had been like that before.

Yeah but no. It’s fine for the old legendary since the Gift of mastery cost nothing. Now, we have two expensive gifts and one way more expensive than the gift of fortune, while the other is almost at the same price. You still don’t see my point again?

The two gifts should be at Gift of fortune price in my opinion. The effort to get Gift of magumma mastery is enough, no need to add more golds to the journey. But this is my opinion.

This is my “complain” even if I actually doing one of the new legendary.

You’re changing your argument. You were complaining about how a single gift cost as much as a precursor. Now you changed it to be the combination of all of the gifts combined.

My point still stands that the Gift of Fortune used to cost over 1K which was equal to if not more than most precursors. If you include the other gift, like you’re doing now, then it easily surpassed all precursor prices except for perhaps dusk.

I don’t change anything. My point was just vague and not developed enough. The cost of a single gift that is almost the same as the precursor price shouldn’t happen for the new legendary in this case.

Don’t know why they added Amalgamated Gemstone. This has nothing to do with maguuma, or I just don’t get it. You still need 250 obsidian shards for doing the crystalline ingots.

While you have to farm tokens, t7 mats in the new maps, map completion, obsidian shards and ectoplasm, you have to farm for the amalgamated gemstone too, these things that have nothing to do with maguuma. Hmmm okay then, why not. I guess it’s the price for the new legendary.

Mastery points, ugh [Merged]

Mastry points should exist

Locking core content like themain story behind gates for which MPs need to be ground out to unlock is simply a kitten move.

By all means gate OPTIONAL content like raids behind rubbish like this but don’t lock out the content many people are mainly interested in a game like GW2 for: THE STORY!

GW2 pre-HOT was great, no artificial time-sink grinds blocked access to the entire story, HOT didn’t need it either.

With Vanilla gw2, didn’t you need to level to 80 first to access the entire story? I’m not so sure low levels can do the Living story in Dry Top or Silverwastes and they never could do the Personal story with the level gate. iirc there was one Mastery point that blocked further progression through the HoT story, but it was removed shortly after the expansion launched. Other than that, you do need to progress through the maps to access the story. It is, after all, a story spread across several maps so it’s reasonable that you need to get to the new maps to do them. Rather like the way the personal story starts in your racial city and progresses across the maps until you reach Orr.

Yea the Poison one was removed because it wasn’t actually used in the story and it was a pretty deep mastery to have required.

Honestly I didn’t mind the requirements much because it allowed them to make use of more mechanics and do interesting things in the story they wouldn’t have been able to do if they didn’t know every person doing particular parts would have certain masteries.

It’s strange since I still need it for the story.

To those not having fun...again!

In my WvW raids group, I’m actually an healer as a druid, I just buff/heal and auto rez my party when they do damage. I’m something really annoying when I’m with my party but totally useless when I’m alone (still arguable).
My other job when I’m mesmer, is just to be annoying and play with enemy, portals, escape, stealth, etc. I don’t zerg at all I’m just, again, really annoying and help my party to do some strategy while I just distract the enemy.

So yes, I don’t zerk, I just support my team and bother the enemy.

I hope Anet will take in consideration all these bots/cheaters that destroy Guid Wars 2 beauty/economy. I think it’s pretty urgent that steps must be done now.

off-topic but the Living world Season 1 was way way better than Season 2. Not the story but the things to do was really fun.

What level Fractals give Ascended Chests?

The Adept, Veteran, and Champion Fractal daily rewards all have a chance to drop Ascended gear boxes. The Daily Chest of the Mists from the Recommended Fractals only drop rings.

Realistically though, The Adept and Veteran boxes have so low a chance to drop these boxes that we consider the drop rate to be non-existent.

However, the Champion boxes have a very consistent drop rate: Armor boxes averaging to 1/8 while weapon boxes are about 1/20.

0/0 and 0/0 for me :> RNG.

Not complaining here, no problems with the JP (even though I’m bad at them, I did manage to get the achievement), and no problem for the booze farming as we get a whole year for that
I do have a suggestion though, wouldn’t it be much better to get effects like Winter’s Presence and Nightfury in the form of a trinket (like the refractor effect and the queen bee jewel), instead of a shoulder ‘skin’?
The reason I ask this is it that it’d be more interesting to combine these effects with the themed outfits for halloween and wintersday. I mean, the witch outfit or arctic explorer outfit work PERFECTLY with effects like a swarm of bats or a flurry of snowflakes O_O
I really do like the shoulder skin, but I just don’t think it merges really well with most of the armor skins, whereas it’d be perfect in combination with the arctic explorer or fancy wintersday outfit.
Seeing as there was a big at first that turned the queen bee jewels into winter’s presence trinkets, it must be possible to do this without much of a problem ^^’

Tl;dr: Winter’s Presence as a trinket instead of shoulder ‘skin’… Yes or no?

No. Better to give everyone another slot just for these effects instead of trinkets.
There are better trinkets with better stats and don’t want to see it as one with useless stats and without agony resistance.

I will probably be upset if they nerf this since I have farm the jp so much times for the skin. Sorry but 10k is fine if you work for it.
All the complain are people that want a shiny legendary effect asap.
You know it’s like legendary weapon, if you want it fast you have to grind stuff and things, or use credit card.
If you want it but don’t have the time to do it fast, then work for it through the year and stop complaining? My sister is a pure casual player and want it too, but she know that she can’t have it now but probably next year. I don’t understand all these nonsense and complain about shiny things too “hard” to get because you are too lazy for it.
I can understand people that don’t like the jp required for achievement, BUT I can’t understand people that don’t want to grind for the 10k drinks achievement.

Moreover, the skin is nice but we can’t use it with clothes and this is sad.

That in essence is the problem (no pun intended); you farm the jumping puzzle, I also farm the jumping puzzle, most people cannot. Anet should not be building the experience for you and me, but the majority of everyone else.

10K drinks is fine, but a wider avenue needs to be opened to obtaining them because right now, there is only 2 effective ways to do it, the JP and bell choir. We’ve got 5 wintery areas that can be used for present drops. Why don’t wintersaday presents regularly drop there? Why not drop them with events? Why can’t we craft them? Why don’t they drop in WvW?

If were going to grind for this after the event is over, where will they come from? The 1 wintersday gift we get each day in our home instance? lol. Seriously, that is just asinine. Wait till the following Christmas event? At some point we’ll need new content, and again, we’ll run into the same problem that most people can’t farm the JP to get gifts.

While the 10K drinks is fine, far more avenues need to be opened up to obtaining them + crafting them. Yes that will devalue them in the TP, but that’s just the nature of the beast.

There are a lot of way to get presents. You can have it from karma, golds via TP, PvP, dailies, maps, Tixx, etc. You think JP and chor bells are the only way to get presents but it’s wrong. I farmed the jp because I wanted it fast.
But it wasn’t the only thing I’ve done : All the golds from fractals was for buying drinks from TP, Karma for buying presents from the NPC, I’ve done all the dailies, some Tixx stuffs, PvP wintersday rewards, etc. There are a lot of way to get presents.
Chor bells and JP are just faster but you don’t need to run it like me if you want it before wintersday end.

If you want it now, everything you drop, every golds, mats, karma, farm, etc should be spent/sold for the skin only. You don’t need to farm chor bell or the jp at all. Do it just 3-5 times per day for the 5k karma then farm golds/mats or anything that can contribute to the skin you want.

Sorry but I really don’t see the issue and in my opinion every complain about the way to get the skin (except the jp requirement that is arguable) is just because people are lazy. I’m not selfish, I just worked hard for it and I think I derserve it. That’s why I don’t want to see a nerf. It would be totally unfair to players like me and probably will quit the game for a while if ever they do that.
Nerfs things is not good for a game, FFXIV nerf almost everything and that’s why I don’t play this game anymore. I don’t want to see the same nonsense in Guild Wars 2.

Lv 64 Frac Anomaly - Raid Like Boss

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Even with RNG if you don’t have enough skills you can’t pass through it unless someone do it for you (aka other party members).

Ye, but you have enough skills to protect yourself from fear, root and others.
You don’t care bleeding, burn, weakness and all the others because they aren’t the ones you have to be aware of. They won’t kill you and they won’t throw you from the platform. So, in the end it is just a change of some abilities and maybe weapon set and you can go on like before. Auto the anomaly to death = no skill at all.

I guess you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Why? Explain it to me!
I did the anomaly with pugs several times now on higher fractal levels with all instabilities (level 55, 64 with the conditions we are talking about here in this thread, 84 and 97). There is no difficulty present nor is much skill needed and you aren’t automatically a much better player if you change some abilities to survive the fight.
Yes, maybe you are Mr. Joe Casual (I rly like this name; read it in another thread) and you were struggling dozens of times because you first realized to change something after a horrible number of wipes and you still couldn’t succeed due to mates being dumber than you.
Go onto the platform with 4 ppl just not lacking brain mass. They don’t need to be skilled, all they have to do is stopping the yolo mode a.k.a. using active defenses.
Is the anomaly harder than most of the old dungeon bosses? Yes. Is it only beatable by skilled players? No, definitely not.
.

Did it before fix and my first level64 try. Just took me almost 2 hours with pugs as I said in a previous post. And no, I’m not a casual player. Probably hardcore even if I’m most of the time afk, but just a quick example is I got winter’s presence without moneys 5-6 days after the skin release doing jp/fractals dailies. Grind don’t scare me.
On topic, I never said this is beatable only by skilled players. But you know more than 70% of the playerbase will not stop the “yolo mode”. That’s why the boss need to use some skills not just spam a keyboard key or an auto attack. yet this is what you were saying before this post.
The boss is not hard to my taste but it’s actually hard for the majority of players. And it was a nice fight though.

In my opinion, fractals 1-100 aren’t really that hard but I’m stuck in lvl 78 since I have only 111 ar. There are just some fights that are quite interesting in terms of challenge.

I've always wondered why Human Female...

I am human female IRL, but my main (and most loved character) is a human male. I was inspired by one of my favorite books where protagonist was a male necromancer. I like everything about him – the way he looks and how the story and voice acting (thank you so much, Nolan North! I love you!) fits him just purrfectly.

Across all female characters I like my norn most of all, as she is very much like me, I guess. But I also have three human females, I must admit. They have nice haircuts and some mix-and-match sets actually look good on them.

then you are rare, because all ladies i have seen from my guild or streamers play female, i have never seen female gamer play male character, you are the first one lol.
as for me beauty of the character is important, in all mmos i used to play, i played as male except for ESO and GW2, because male toons in those 2 are ugly.
for gw2 i fell in love with female sylvari voice( jennifer hale is an awesome voice actress and really great voice) also there are some cute faces for female sylvari, hence my main is female sylvari

Pretty much all the ladies I know play males.
