Gem Store Level 80 Boost? <3

No need for an 80 boost on the gemstore. It takes almost no real time to get 80 leveling scrolls.

5 pvp wins is no joke, and to do that 80 times? takes more time than u think, took me 1200 hours to get my 2nd lvl 80 thru just tomes.

You get plenty of them from fractals. Like 10 per day.

Just smh with this raiding community

You can see a lot of elitism during fractals (at least before the patch) for easy path like swamps.

These guys can kick a friend if he doesn’t have the “required foods” where it’s not even necessary.
These guys can have a really bad behavior. IF someone fail for some reason they just mock at him, but during this time they doing nothing and wait at the entrance for others people to do all the work.

I don’t bother with the requirement it’s their choice and they are free to do this. But when the bahavior is bad and rude I don’t want to deal with these people. They just say hello to my blacklist after a nice private message saying how these people are really nice to others.

Requirements is fine but being rude is not. Even if sometimes I found some requirements totally pointless but well, just my opinion.

No thanks. I don’t want to see GW2 as Pay to win nor I want to see the books useless.

Absolutely no reason to see them in gemstore.

Boosting to L80 is no more pay2win than buying xp boosters. It’s just faster.

Lv80 boost gives you stuff with actual stat. With full spec unlock. It’s definitely pay2win if it was in the gemstore.

Anyway it won’t happen. The books deserves a purpose.

The fractal one for 1°) the custom sound effect and 2°) best model physics in the game.

However, they are both too big and not colorable, and this is sad.

The fractal PvP is not my cup of tea. The animation when you draw your weapon is awful. My character is like a Taurus when doing this. And well, the wings are not as original as the fractal “wings”.

Legendary Weapons: Gold or Collections

sorry if this is a silly question but.. how do i read this? so for example Dusk says “Crafting Price(buy)” is 634g then "Trading Price(buy) is 970g does this means that it is way better to do the collection and then buy all the mats to craft it than just buy it straight?

Crafting for popular weapons is often cheaper but time consuming. Dunno why people say buying it directly is cheaper since it’s not the case.

You just need a lot of time. If you know how to play with the TP for buy mats, it shouldn’t be an issue.

Is it weird that I had the opposite reaction?

I’m just now finding out that as well as the new shortbow giving a tiger cub backpack the older precursor collections also give bonus items (apparently the Juggernaut gives you an ooze tonic).

Now I’m excited to find out what the collection for the Lover gives, and maybe do the collection even though I’ve already got the Dreamer. I love the legendary so there’s a good chance I’ll like the bonus thing too.

Some weapons don’t have bonus. I made Nevermore and you get nothing else.

I know The Minstrel gives a music box. I dunno about dreamer.

Comparing the two I don’t think Ad Infinitum is lackluster. Ad Infinitum has the best model physics in the game.

And imo is better looking, but this is a matter of taste.

Before this topic goes any further, I think it needs to be said that Pay-to-win ONLY is attributed with a microtransaction that allow you to gain an advantage over others due to people pouring in large sums of money that they have(iOS cash cow games that let you progress quickly or gain power quickly for example). Pay-to-win does NOT apply just because you have to pay for a game.

Not everything is P2W in GW2, but I feel there’s quite a bit and appears that there’s always more opening up:

It all starts with Cash->Gems->Gold, then:

  • Buy runs in dungeons to get top-end Ascended rings for use in PvE or WvW (which is PvP-based)
  • Buy dungeon achievements
  • Buy numerous other achievements where paths exists to buy them (e.g. Exotic Hunter for Karmic Converter is one that immediately comes to mind)
  • Buy HoT for Elite specs for them being them slightly overpowered in PvP and WvW
  • Use crafting to almost immediately level your character to level 80
  • Buy SAB runs for top-end Ascended weapons, achievements, and infusions (which also give +5 power bonus)
  • Buy raid parties for “The Eternal” title achievement, +161 -> +166 Mastery Points, Insights to obtain legendary armor, etc.
  • Buy old legendary weapons (which have top-end stats)

Love it or hate it, that kind of makes these things have a pay-to-win path in my mind. I’m sure there’s endless more but these are the ones that immediately come to mind. Even by your definition, you can progress quickly (craft your way to level 80) and by HoT elite specs, and gain advantages in PvP and WvW.

I’ll go with “The majority of GW2 can be P2W if you choose that path.” I’m not saying avoid GW2 or that it’s not worth the money. It’s just that P2W exists in the game, in my opinion.

All mmos, where it’s allowed, sell runs such as raids, dungeons, etc.

For example, FFXIV : You can see a lot of Raids selling if you are in a server with a good amount of people.

All MMOs?

Almost all games ever designed if using ingame currency and time is his definition of p2w.

Original Zelda on Nintendo for example, totally p2w because there’s a store in it.

Age Of Empires, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Starcraft, Elder Scrolls, Shogun, GTA, OMG it’s all p2w!!!

I hope thats sarcasm because none of those games had item shops for real money, some had dlc but that isnt pay to win, having a shop in a game is stuff you earn from progression lol your not making sense.

And none of them are MMOs anyway.

These items was exclusive to the gemstore because it was the only way to get them. Now, it’s just not exclusive anymore. This word is not here saying “These items will be in the gemstore forever”.

Should I complain about toxic gauntlets that you can get from game currencies now? It was exclusive to the gemstore.

I think it’s nice to see some old gemstore items back to the game and purchasable with in game currencies.

at least in FF armors are mostly equal for males and females, something GW2 should probably learn from…

With gender locked gear? I don’t think so. Females have like x1,5 more set than males.

For example, Setzer set should be male only (from SE perspective) but it’s both gender, while bunny set is female gender locked. yay.

Thavnair’robe, gender locked while the other set is for both gender. I mean, if they waste time doing females stuff they should do it for males then or unlock it to both gender.

You can see some complain about it on the official forum anyway, if you need some proof.

For a game that has excellent artists and is meant to be driven by horizontal progression and cosmetic upgrades, I find it fascinating how mediocre GW2’s gear looks.

  • Lack of diversity (medium armor users know the pain well, as do any non-human players).
  • Overdesigned armor (sometimes simpler is better, but anet’s artists don’t know when to stop, and their definition of making cool looking armor is to add as many unnecessary details as possible, so the point that it becomes hard to distinguish between a GW2 gear set and a christmas tree).
  • Absurd or goofy-looking components that they aren’t meant to be that way (oversized shoulders, giant and cartoon-ish boots, fat body armor, even a bladed dic – seriously, look at bladed armor. Many stupid elements are also a direct result from overdesign.)
  • Inability to make good-looking male scholar armor (in contrast, the female variant is usually quite good) since the days of GW1.
  • Inability to make stylish edges and curves (even when the artwork is stylish, the in-game models translate them really poorly).
  • Inability to add epic-looking armor into the game (anyone remember the days of ascended gear and the glorious community reaction to the skins? Or what about carapace -> luminiscent upgrade, where an overly-designed, goofy-looking armor set was given a blue tint to make it unique and special: pity that the base model looks terrible).
  • Inability to stick to a theme coherently and fulfill it as well as possible (do you enjoy the concept of bladed armor? It seems a fine idea, right? Well, here’s as many blades as we can add, to every single piece, at every single angle! Enjoy!)
  • A flawed system/ foundation that, apparently, has given a lot of headaches to anet and makes it hard to implement armor in the game (about 10x harder than outfits?) to the point that cosmetic gear progression, in this game, mostly translates to “here’s a new backpiece for you” or “here’s a chance to get boots, gloves and shoulders for defeating a boss!”.

So, yeah. This is what a vertical progression mmorpg can offer:
http://www.sggaminginfo.com/wp-content/gallery/final-fantasy-xiv-a-realm-reborn_26-7/88938848Battle%20Sequence_Dragoon%201.png

http://storage.ff14.co.kr/article/2015/06/19/20150619135000200298.png
And this is what our entirely-dedicated-to-horizontal-and-cosmetic-progression game offers:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/4/4d/Bladed_armor_%28heavy%29_human_male_front.jpg/143px-Bladed_armor_%28heavy%29_human_male_front.jpg
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/gw2-carapace-heavy-armor-set-male.jpg

And for some laughs:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/7/7f/Light_armor_03_concept_art.jpg
The concept art for our fellow male scholar looks quite stylish, epic and mystical, right? Here’s the in-game model (ps. you can’t even dye it properly):
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/c/c2/Winged_armor_human_male_front.jpg
(As expected, female scholars look gorgeous: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Winged_armor_human_female_front.jpg) The difference of quality and detail between both female and male is so drastic, that I feel compelled to create conspiracy theories about it.

Did you actually played FFXIV? Most of FFXIV gears are copy/past and really ugly unless you use same skins as everyone else or a few that are still okay. Every FFXIV are overdesigned.

And the set you show us is from T13, but it’s old and no one do this anymore.

Midas set is okay, not really nice in game. In fact FFXIV have a few nice looking set but most of them are just copy/past as I said.

There are no wardrobe in FFXIV anyway and the prism/mirage system is awful.

Gw2 need better armors, especially for males of course. But here it’s like if you compare A with A since FFXIV has exactly the same issues for a subscription game.

Oh and the best of all from FFXIV is all these skins gender locked with way more skins for females. YAY.

No, seriously, FFXIV is a really bad example.

I see this as a good thing where players are helping players achieve. Where players are using their skills and abilities together and compensating each other. In the end, both parties are happy and successful. Much like how our entire civilization functions in real life.

What I see as a bad thing, is the elitist “buut… it’s my shiny” people trying to deny this from occurring. And, this is not just with SAB but, every time new content comes out. It’s utterly selfish behavior and should not be promoted in game as it is not in real life.

Thank you for clarifying Chris. Glad Anet see’s the common sense in allowing this.

I think you don’t understand how the exploit works. In fact, as a player that did the run, you don’t help anything. As a player that buy runs, you don’t it with others players. You just click on your screen, get the rewards and… that’s all. You did nothing, you learn nothing. You just use your moneys and get the rewards.

Tell me where this is a good thing in regards to your arguments? Tell me where not to be agree with this, is selfish? Please explain me.

Inappropriate analogy. The point of a puzzle is to figure it out, not to have others figure it out for you and just follow their instructions.

But we’re long past the point where you can design puzzles on the assumption that people haven’t been told how to do it, so that’s why Tribulation mode is technically difficult, not intellectually difficult.

Ironically, exams are one of the best techniques for weeding out those who can’t solve problems they haven’t encountered before.

It might not be the right analogy but it was the closes i could found.

I agree that, today, in games, people (me included) reach out more for guides, not all people but most.

Dulfy has been a valuable source for many players in trouble but she just provided the instructions, the skill/practice is on us.
Thus the school analogy, you study the guide, then put it in practice.

But my comment was for people to try to realize that an exploit is an exploit, people shouldn’t get a “Free Pass” for doing, what it actually is, an exploit.

But it’s also true in real life. In general, when you don’t know how to cook something, you use a guide.
You have to follow guide and instructions for driver’s license.
In fact, people use guide/instructions almost all the time because it’s already done and don’t need to be discovered again. Despite the fact that we can improve/change it.

I don’t think your analogy was bad, a metaphor don’t need to be perfect if you just want to prove a point with same facts.

The guide will not magically do the stuff for you. Some players can’t do trib mode with a guide, because it actually need some practice.

On the other hand, players that buy runs don’t need to do anything, just wait & click like dumbs, and profit.

With a guide you need to : learn it, do the stuff, practice. And you have to do it in order to get the rewards.

If you don’t do it yourself, you : don’t learn, don’t do the stuff, don’t practice. And you don’t need it. You get same rewards without efforts.

Your argument is : invalid. Try again.

Alright, it’s about time I commented on this.

As of now we don’t have a problem with players doing this. While the late join is unintended, if players want to pay for this service, that’s fine. It does trivialize the skins some, but this isn’t any different than the skins from purchasing a raid run or a dungeon run (which we also are ok with). As long as the transaction is completed and players are getting what they paid for, fine.

However, that doesn’t mean that we aren’t going to fix this. A fix is in the works right now, and that fix may happen before SAB closes or be there for the next time the festival opens.

Okay, so basically getting stuff from exploit is… fine? Sorry it’s not like raids or dungeons here.

But, seriously, this is just gold. This game is just all about being rich and get what you want?

If you’re gonna fix it and you don’t want to use the ban hammer, then allow players to join tribulation mode whenever they want, it will not be fair for players that want to “buy” it later. Do it to the end, push the knife all the way. Sigh…

It’s not even that way if you have some golds in your pocket. You can be rich and get what you want without efforts.

I don’t buy runs but I know it’s possible, and it’s probably an exploit, I dunno. Buyers will never be banned for this. Again, the weapons means nothing, currently.

The tribulation mode weapon skins are only different in color, which were meant to specifically represent the difference in difficulty. It is pretty much guaranteed that there will never be an alternative method for obtaining the tribulation variants. The default blue weapons are the alternative.

You still get exclusive auras with trib mode, without alternative. Your point is not valid.

Anyway, apparently you can buy runs now so these weapons means nothing.

No they definitely are not… at least around the gong temple and afterwards there definitely are no clouds. For Z3 the clouds are there, but not for Z2. In Z2 although some of the helpful hands are still there eg. around the cong temple in infantile mode, the clouds they are supposed to be pointing to are not.

@Greymantle: looks like we were basically talking about the same thing then.

@Esquilax: Of course you can reach them the normal way, that is not the point, the point is ANet wasn’t consistent about this, see the clear difference between Z2 and Z3. Plus it sucks that this invalidates bunch of guides, other than those two things I am all for more participation in the actual level.

I mean infantile mode is a bit of a cheap way to get achievements after all, but they should have at least been consistent about it then.

My bad, thinking about Z3.

infantile mode for world 2 involves a lot of skipping. Like, a rainbow will take you past a building that would normally need completing, for example. If there are no rainbows, you took the normal way. There were likely arrow fingers with happy/sad faces to show the two paths.

What he is referring to is the fact that in W2Z2, the infantile clouds for the long way have been removed whole sale. This is not true for Z3, don’t know about Z1.

The rainbows have changed… and some of the old guides rely on the old rainbows. There is even talk of the bauble one for Z2 being impossible, since you can’t backtrack without infantile clouds… that are no-longer there.

Clouds from the long way are still there.

First, I can do trib mode without problems (maybe a few deaths, of course). So even if I don’t agree with you it’s not about something I can’t do.

In fact, I think it’s a terrible idea to lock a nice aura behind something “unfair, hard for 99% players & time consuming”. Some players that have done trib mode will never do this again. It’s probably why the aura is tiny and not impressive.

In my opinion, the aura should be lock behind tribulation completion, not a collection where you have to do trib mode 13 times for each stages (aka 78 times). It’s just ridiculous.

Good job anyway.

The absolute worst part was the icy floor with the spikes in world 3-stage 3 because on icy floors you start off slow then go fast then takes much longer to slow down. Of course that part is hard since you’re surrounded by instant death spikes, have poor traction, and said poor traction will still get you even if you know when to run when the blower walls open up.

Just use no-no cloud, you will have invulnerability and you can skip this “hard” part easily.

w2z3 is easier than w2z2. You have more room for errors and less pixel perfect jumps.

Where did you see the cancellation of new worlds?

Guild Chat from a few days ago, though it doesn’t seem to be off the table entirely.

Or as I like to put it:

Yeah, but they don’t speak about cancellation during Guild Chat. They said it was time consuming so chances are slim. I mean they just want to keep the surprise imo.

I actually legit wouldn’t be surprised at this point, but Josh seemed pretty sincere. I don’t think new worlds are coming.

Also, it was mentioned during the SAB blog post that went up on the 31st.

I’ll be so sad if SAB is abandonned. The whole thing say world 3 and world 4 everywhere, when we enter to the box we see 4 houses.

Anyway, it’s off-topic but I just love your remixes when I play tribulation mode. Especially the world 2 zone 1, the eagle “shortcut” (trollcut lol), and the world 2 zone 3. I don’t want to be spoiled for the wizard boss music and the yeti, I will see this probably tomorrow.

Oh and please do another remixes like these one if ever world 3 come out next year. :>

There is (was?) an hidden achievement from a possible world 3 (on the API) but I can’t find it in game.

There are some new SAB assets that aren’t used yet. I think the devs tried to do the world 3 but they didn’t get the time to finish it before 1st april.

I think their most competent devs and artists came up with the SAB design and it was unexpected from Anet that it would be of such a high success and of such original quality.
Basically they see SAB as a competition to their own game, as something that will take players away from their open world, raids, dungeons, etc.

It was a huge mistake on their part not to make it a more important part of Guild Wars 2, since it’s probably the best thing that happened to Guild Wars 2 in it’s 4 years life-cycle. They could have made it work if they had more vision, just like WvW could have been 5 times more engaging than it was if they actually cared.

For me it’s over, I uninstalled the game last week even with the return of SAB. The cancellation of SAB future worlds, WvW complete disaster, removal of long terms rewards and the fact my friends have left already was enough to make me move on.

This is what many many players demanded. There were constant threads of players demanding SAB to be released even if it didn’t include new content. It’s strange now since there’s people demanding more because that isn’t enough. Kind of the same thing with the duration. It’s like people demand one thing, get it, and then decide that they want more because they got what they had originally demanded.

You don’t even need to buy the infinite coin. Normal continue coins can be bought with baubles.

Good luck trying Tribulation mode with normal continue coins…..

Done whole world 1 in tribulation without infinite coin. It’s 100% possible if you know how to jump and follow a video guide.

The shop from world 1 stage 1 is not really hard to get, it’s at the beginning and not even during hard/tricky part. The only things I hate in tribulation mode is the latency when you have to jump with these kitten rocks.

I’ll certainly try world 2 soon, and again, without infinite coins. You really don’t need it.

Would SAB make people feel better about the scrapped legendaries or the fact the April update looks more like a QoL update rather than a content update? For me it won’t but It doesn’t mean i wouldn’t play the hell out of it.

I will personally feel better, since it’s a content I waiting for 2 years.

I’ve seen that on the API, it’s an achievement :

“Super Adventure Secret
Speak with the Genie of the Box in World 3, Zone 1.
No wishes, but he has an offer to make.”
