Your invulnerabilities and stealths will allow you to get inside past legendary defenders.
On the subject of getting stuck in a wall that’s probably because the 3d model is hollow, and from using a 3d modelling program myself most if not all of the models I did were also hollow, they just don’t look it since you don’t see their insides. A solid model is also most likely larger in filesize (pretty sure it would be but my time spent in 3dsmax seemed like everything was hollow).
There’s no such thing as a “solid” model. Modelling software doesn’t deal with colliders. That’s a game mechanic. Colliders act like hitboxes in a way. Each player is in fact a giant pill. That’s what people mean when they say “Norns have the same hitbox as Asura”. When your weapon, also a basic shape, activates and intersects the pill collider, an effect takes place.
When two colliders meat, they’re supposed to maintain some distance away from each other. This is why you can’t walk into the enemy team’s players in games like TF2.
For some reason GW2 is glitchy in that matter.

Warriors remain un-nerfed and maybe get buffed.
Guardians receive a nerf to a popular boon type, Line of Warding gets changed to 2 seconds due to complaints.
Elementalists receive a buff they never asked for
Necromancers get 3 fixes and 5 bugs
Mesmers get nerfed, but have their skills generate more particle effects as a compromise
Thieves get nerfed. People will still complain. Shadow Refuge still exploitable underwater.
Engineers get some crazy nerf that no one understands nor cares about since no one uses the skill in question anyway
Rangers get buffed

magic, pixie dust, dragon scales and public libraries.
Danicco, I treat myself as anything but bunker. The very fact that you think that way means something is wrong and that I need more offense. I think we’re knocked it down to Strength or Divinity.
I am very sure that with my GS out, I have 30% crit chance and 51 crit dmg. Maybe Strength and Minor Accuracy is the way to go

“Oh no, this Guardian trapped me in a ring! Dodge Oh, wait, no he didn’t…”
Ring of Warding is really only good for Banish smacking someone into it for a short knockdown.
The player isn’t invulnerable immediately when they dodge. There is a warm up, and that’s when they’re being affected by the ring.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
People won’t die around you if you’re alone. Not even pre-ret nerf was like that. Unlike in PVE, the enemy has a choice of who to focus. The difficulty behind bunker builds is making sure you’re always the one that’s getting focused. defending towers and capture points is easy, but on the field you’re sort of a joke.

I don’t know if it’s height.
In WvW, people sometimes congregate around and plant siege over at the bottom left supply camp; specifically on the room of the gate you must walk through to get inside.
I’ve found that if you’re generally below there, you can target a player/siege above and use JI to get up there consistently.
I chalked it up to there being a walkable path there and the target is in range, but similar ledges will fail even if a nearby path is even shorter.
That area’s just bugged. You can climb the hill to the side closer to the spawn and “fall” towards the awning. You can also climb this rock protrusion on the right and do the same thing.
Thing is, its not a tower, keep or castle, so it seems fair. Otherwise that gate would be the only entrance. Even the East camp has multiple entrances.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
oh, another example. On the fort, you can hop from one ledge to the other with JI, but you can’t hop up the ledge like you can in the graveyard. There is a small path behind the two ledges that connect each other. However, if you jump down, the only way to get back up is to go all the way down the steps, follow the river path past svanir/chieftain and work your way back up the hill.

You can’t get upset when your trebuchet is being attacked. You’re also not forced into using the trebuchet. If an elementalist is attacking your Treb, that means that the enemy team has one less person in the field. If they keep destroying your Treb, you need to change your tactics. Each Treb loss is 15 points. Bring the fight to the elementalist instead. You cannot specialize in everything. A team of scissors will defeat a team of paper unless they become rocks.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
Wait, you’re having trouble against elementalists? Did I read that right?

Max Virtues? Jesus Christ how horrifying. Go look up Altruistic healing (Valor grandmaster trait) and tell me what you think. Mind you that you get 75 hp per boon applied to anyone.
Now realize that each tick of might you give with Empower counts separately. Like being able to heal yourself for 6k+ every 16 seconds (as long as you have friends around)? So do I.

Bunker Guardians rely on blocks, traits that deal some form of damaging while blocking, retaliation, standing still a lot, lots of toughness and vit, knockdowns/stuns and stability.
You see the term a lot in two realms.
In PVP, a bunker Guardian is a Guardian that stands on a CP that they own. This way, the only way to cap the point is to kill the Guardian who is nearly unkillable.
In WvW, a bunker guardian uses a shield to bubble 50+ people stacked on top of themselves. Also uses other consecrations like hallowed ground and wall of reflection, which are the only true AOE skills guardians have – most other aoe skills only hit up to 5 enemies or so.
But regardless, the most important bits are maintaining constant protection and retaliation. This was why retaliation was nerfed several patches back.

Okay, here’s what I’ve seen so far with how JI works.
First off, JI will not warp you beyond ledges. If there is empty space between you and your target, you will not go further than the ledge.
Second, there are indeed weird occurrences with JI. The walls in the Graveyard PVP CP for example. We can warp up those walls.
Next we have the trebuchets in the fort. If someone peeks over, you can warp up to them. From the ground. That giant distance is warpable.
Lastly, same stage, clocktower. If someone peeks over one of the cracks in the ceiling, as many ranged classes do, you can warp to them.
So basically, JI works in strange and mysterious ways. The way I think it works is that when you cast JI, it creates a pathfinding bubble around you. Within that bubble it will try and discover a way WITHOUT JUMPING to reach your target. If it checks out, you will warp. If it doesn’t, it will go as close as possible to your target until it breaks. This makes sense in the three examples I gave you, but really, JI is just really unpredictable.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
That Dolyak regen is pretty meh. I think I have around 18k hp since nearly every piece of armor gives me vit. I feel like I need more power or precision, but I want a cool effect. Not just stats.

In that case I an a fairy, seeing as my endeavors are non-existant.
I hate it when people on forums say bullkitten like “trust me” but…
Would I lie? I love Guardians, I hate Thieves. Even if my math is wrong, the result is correct. Remember also that initiation is initiation. Heartseeker and whatever that shortbow move is are counter-productive. Its either one or the other. In this case, the Shortbow covers more ground.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
You don’t need rune of the Soldier to remove conditions. That’s what Pure of Voice and properly timed dodges are for. Staff ‘s AOE range is huge, like 600 or so. And its technically Melee which is nice. Regardless, once the Line goes down its all over. Even if they stumble once there’s little they can do.
Also, after forcing 2 dodges from them and exhausting their initiation you can throw out a binding blade to pull and stop their movement.
Fighting a thief is all about thinking.
Lets imagine a situation.
I’m fighting a thief. He gets down to 20% hp or so while I’m still rocking 80%. The thief starts to run. Normally they will use their AOE invisibility first. During that time I try and spam /laugh as much as I can as well as use Whirling Wrath. Eventually they get out. Now the hunt begins.
I start with Retreat! and leap of faith. They’ll typically dodge it, as is expected. Then they’ll unleash two of their shortbow shadow steps. That’s when I use JI. It will not close the gap entirely though. However, my movespeed is faster than the thief’s. Its so fast that I quickly close the gap enough to use… My Staff’s melee.
So now I’m dealing some chip damage and he’s freaking out. I get two dodges out of him. Perfect. There goes the line. Bam, end of line, the line ends here. He stumbles for a bit as I switch to greatsword and release another leap of faith, followed by a binding blade. Its done. Even if he does another shortbow shadow step, I will be able to get close enough to pull him or at least knock him down.

Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
Are you speaking in terms of WvW or PvP?
WvW. I don’t run a shout build in PVP, nor do I use a Greatsword. My only gap closers in PVP are Flash and JI, and I lose JI when I do tournaments.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
For skill/trait diversity, I still insist that chill or cripple needs to be added to the guardian.
What did I tell you!
THIS is the weapon of the ENEMY. We do not NEED it. We will not USE it.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
Because again for the now 11th time. ANY profession at any point in a fight with a guardian can say hey, I don’t feel like dying, so I am going to run now and there is nothing a guardian can do about it. Sure we can close the gap once or twice, but if you aren’t dead by then or you cripple us, well we cant pursue.
Funny, seeing as there has only been one occasion when one enemy has gotten away from my Retreat, SaveYourselves, SymbolSwiftness, JudgesIntervention, LeapofFaith setup, and that was another guardian, but one with a sword (Flashing Blade? Blinding Flash?)
Cripple has never affected me. You can’t cripple the Batman and expect to get away. That just makes me angry.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
I’d like it if someone confirmed that double condition removal bit. It sucked when I found out that Purity and Resolve worked on the same clock, i.e their 10 second CD always matched each other
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
There is no such thing as a good spirit weapon build. Thank the kitteny Zeal line, the fact that there are a total of 5 SW traits, the fact that SWs receive no benefit from stats and that they are all spread across three branches.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
There’s a difference between “full power low armor” offensive and “I am winning simply because you cannot topple me” offensive. I go Soldier armor with maxed Valor and Honor lines. This makes me extremely bulky, but by no means do I intend simply to stand around and absorb damage. My Power is high, my crit chance is low and my crit dmg is average. That’s not where I get my “offensive” nature from though.
Though I may be dealing meh damage, I’m dealing that meh damage to around 5 enemies at any given time. Lets see a shortbow thief try and do that. I’m always a constant presence. They move 3 steps back, I move 4 steps foward, kick them in their back, move 2 steps back and leap at their faces. Fling me away and I’ll just bounce back. So what if my damage isn’t huge. While I’m causing havoc and chaos, my allies are charging in to clean up my mess.
That’s what it means to be an offensive guardian. It comes from the utility, not the attack damage. It comes from the constant presence and relentless badgering.
The name of the shout “Save Yourselves!” is very misleading. Its not that the Guardian is telling his allies to save themselves, its me telling my enemy to get the kitten back BECAUSE I’M ABOUT TO BEAT HIS kitten
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
We already have a trait that removes conditions when we shout!
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
Or we can just make Light Field’s whirl and projectile finishers something that doesn’t suck. Or just change the projectile finisher and make binding blades a projectile. Or we can make it so the whirls remove conditions from ourselves as well. Or we can finally start to nerf warriors. All good ideas.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
Since this is the case, I am entitled to your fullest attention regarding my guardian build.
First, this is for PVE, mostly WvW.
The way I run my guardian is Greatsword/Staff, focusing on shouts and Judge’s Intervention while retaining my Asura lineage at times.
This is my build
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUQQJARWlYg67WFSOE29EhVBCi9AjZsjXPgIFZIA
You may have to copy/paste it. Basically, what I need help with are runes and sigils.
My Armor is full soldier, along with a Knight amulet, earring and ring, a Valkyrie earring and ring, a Beserker Greatsword and finally a Rampager Staff. I’ll get to Trident and Spear exotics later…
I went with the HotW armor for the stats and looks, but not the runes. Though Sanctuary is good, I know I could do better. First know, I have tons of survivability. If I can make a fight last longer than 10 seconds, I’m almost guaranteed a win. I just hope this isn’t due to the +155 Vit from Sanctuary though.
Rune Ideas:
Balthazar: I have low condition damage and duration. However, the increased duration and power bonus from Balthazar could prove useful. The 6th skill burns enemies for 3 seconds whenever I use a healing skill. However, I need to confirm if that would also work for Empower. If not, its useless since Resolve has the longest CD of all healing skills.
Flame Legion: Again, heavily reliant on burning, which I have little of.
Strength: This is the one I was thinking of going with. “+5% dmg while under the affects of might.” I’m ALWAYS under the effect of might with my greatsword!
Baelfire: Could be useful when I suicide rush into 10 enemies in WvW, since I seem to do that a lot.
Pack: Only because whenever I recover a ton of HP whenever I apply boons to myself and allies
Eagle: Could help with those endurance battles.
Dolyak: If I knew how good the regen was, maybe.
Earth: Could defiantly help me get out of combat faster
Forge: Protection is always nice
Divinity: Because I’m sure there’s a reason why these go for nearly 4g a piece
Sigils:
Battle: I only really switch to staff when I can’t attack or when I need to heal myself for 6k and my allies for 2k. Yes, this was just so I could brag. After Swap’s CD is done, I immediately switch back. Though since I’m switching to Greatsword, that could only mean I’m trying to get back into the fight.
Accuracy: Ignore the link, I typically clock in 30% Crit Chance with 50% Crit Dmg.
Bloodlust: Only problem is that my staff has a sigil of Luck
Fire: AoE attacks are sort of my thing. Note that this does NOT cause burning. Its just like Air, only the damage is spread out in an AoE.
Minor Accuracy: I really don’t like stackable effects, though its not due to the Luck. Its just like Glass Cannons. You never know whats going to happen in combat so you may as well gear up for the worst. I could spend 2 minutes killing 25 critters, only to go down in a few – and this is coming from a behemoth
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
I really wish people couldn’t dodge out of or past our Wardings.
This a million times. I thought once that “Oh its a mechanic limitation” but its not! There are traps in dungeons, most notably HotW that will knock you back regardless if you dodgeroll on it or not. Why this mechanic isn’t given to our Wardings infuriates me. If my Line of Warding is going to have a 32 second cooldown, I want it to be useful!
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
See the problem Robin, is that people fear batman, and run from him. Batman is nothing without his utility belt, it seems guardians did not receive one of those.
Seems like you’re using the wrong utility belt then. The way I see it, there are only two decent Guardian trait builds out there. 10/30/30/0/0 which focuses on one handed weapons and meditations, and 0/10/30/30/0 which focuses on shouts. Guardians have to trait for their utilities. Properly traited meditations can heal you and have lower CDs. Properly traited shouts can heal you and remove conditions.
Consecrations suck. Spirit Weapons suck. Signets suck. If Wrath’s passive was given to Bane it would be useful, but its not, so it sucks.
Oh, theres that signet that heals 50% of your hp and can be used every 32 seconds when traited. That’s pretty useful.
Just like Batman, you can’t win on brute strength alone. How else would he be able to defeat the likes of Bane? Yes, I said it is dishonorable to use conditions like cripple. But what cripple does is weaken an enemy already at their best capabilities. When an enemy such as Bane is using a cheap tactic to gain an advantage, it is fair game to the Batman to exploit it. Cut the cord, stop his drug intake and fight human to human.
What I’m trying to say is, use a scepter dummy. Use Chains of Light if you’re having issues.
Server: Darkhaven. The Besthaven.
And a reminder: There is a trait that copies 5% of toughness into precision. This is EXTREMELY useful. 2000 Toughness is mirrored into 100 precision, which is about a 5% increase to crit chance.

Crippling is for the WEAK kitten Would Batman cripple an enemy? No! Why would he waste his time with something like that! Whats the purpose of crippling? to extend the distance between you and an enemy. Why the hell would you want to do something like that? What are you doing, running away? You know who also runs away? COWARDS. are you a coward? If so, get out of this sub-board, you are not welcome as a guardian. You should be ashamed of yourself kitten We are GUARDIANS. We throw ourselves at the enemy. If they run, we chase them down using our own strengths, not using some skill that hampers their own. This is what it means to have HONOR. There is no value in a fight where neither side is at their strongest. We are not thieves, we do not hide silently in the dark waiting for the right time to strike!
A great man once said “I’m the god kitten Batman.” What he meant was that though as simple as his strengths might be, he always proved to be victorious over those that maintained a clear difference in power. He did not scream “OP” when Clayface could stop his movement, nor did he complain on the forums when the Penguin started using these OHKO weapons called “guns.” No, he DEALT WITH IT. He did not need cheap gimmicks to win fights, he just needed his own strengths.
